Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Going this afternoon for a presentation scan. Midwife thinks baby is head down but face up so can't be certain. Hopefully she is right and baby can get in a good position for labour. Looking forward to seeing a little face and finding out if he or she has hair! My ds was born with loads of hair and we'd seen it on a 32 week scan.

Nicky333 · 06/04/2016 13:30

I'm 33 weeks but this baby is still all over the place. Her favourite way to lie is with her feet on my right side, her head on my left and her big bum up to the middle.

ODog · 06/04/2016 20:58

Hope the scan went well katie.

I am so uncomfortable at the moment. I just want this baby out now. Eve my boobs feel uncomfortable - how is that even a thing.

Everythinggettingbigger · 07/04/2016 11:06

well last night was a strange one!!

started getting lots of pains so DP started timing then to see if there was any pattern (after my scare at 26ish weeks) I was having a mild pain every 4 mins lasting around 30 seconds, then a stronger one 2 mins after that lasting about 15 seconds! so it had a 6 min pattern but what a weird one!! Paracetmol really helped and then I fell asleep so obviously didn't progress into anything! Feel fine this morning just lots of achey stretchy pains!

how is everyone else? anyone starting to get lots of Braxton hicks?

Not sure if baby has turned either as all his movements seem really high up again rather than low!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 07/04/2016 12:50

Sounds scary everything but glad it settled down and hope you got some sleep!

I'm 36 weeks today and the last few days I have been getting loads of weird pains, usually in the evening, I don't know if they are braxton hicks but then kind of take my breath away - I think I am getting them because i'm overdoing it trying to get everything finished up at work! Am petrified of the baby coming early but I am certain that it's nowhere near engaged as my bump is still high, so hopefully that means this is al just normal and I won't be having a surprise April baby!

Everythinggettingbigger · 07/04/2016 13:11

When do you finish cant? Hopefully its soon so you can put your feet up!

armyofthree · 07/04/2016 13:25

Can't and Everything I completely agree -weird pains and like you said, often in the evening. There have been nights when I've gone to sleep convinced I'll be having the baby that night but all fine in the morning.

Feeling better now that the hospital bag is all packed and baby clothes washed.

Just a bit annoyed that there is no midwife appointment available for two weeks in my area. Couldn't have a 34 week check and nothing this week so will have to go for 36 week check, next week. Therefore no idea if baby is in the right position or engaged. Confused

ODog · 07/04/2016 13:53

A few nights I've been thinking I've been have contractions but invariably a couple of Rennies sort it out. Turned out to just be indigestion but it was very painful.

Movements are all high up here too everything and baby is definitely in the right position. It's just legs and arms from being head down.

DS didn't engage until I went into labour cant. My bump never 'dropped' like people say and he was 10 days late.

Terrible that they don't have enough midwife appts army. I have had really good care this time, can't complain at all. Regular appts, 3 routine scans plus one early on within a few hours of calling for a bleed. Feel really lucky.

Had my 36wk appt today and actually got to speak properly with the mw as DH is off work for Easter hols so could look after DS while I went. Feel much more confident that I will be able to assert my birth choices this time around after talking to her as she was really supportive of everything.

Job for this afternoon is to start packing hospital bag.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/04/2016 14:16

I've been having strong BHs or weak contractions (possibly the latter since they're in my back too) for a few weeks, off and on. Happening right now too.

It's kind of exciting to think that our bodies are gearing up for the Big Event.

That's pretty rubbish about MW appointments, army.

When is it that they're supposed to start seeing you every two weeks? I think my last appointment was 4 weeks ago (or just over as MW was on holiday last week) and I'm waiting for her to visit me today. It must be from now on that appointments are fortnightly? (I'm 33 weeks and a few days.)

I got the first coat of paint on the baby's room yesterday. Will hopefully finish it tomorrow since the second coat goes on more easily.

same here army, feel much better with bags packed, I even told DP where everything was last night in case things progressed through the night!

ODog glad you feel better about your birth plan now, nothing worse than coming out of an appointment and getting home and thinking, oops I forgot to ask this this and this!

Grouchy not sure if its different for different areas (only 2 scans in my area) but my midwife apps have been every 3 weeks from 25 weeks, after Mondays app (34) I will have one 2 weeks later (36), then another at 38 weeks then its weekly I think.

Everythinggettingbigger · 07/04/2016 14:48

I managed to fit all my hospital stuff into a very small hand luggage type case, and now I feel like im missing essentials because it really shouldn't have fit!

Large Tshirt for labour and birth
lots of cheap knickers
maternity pads
bobbles
tens machine
2 sets of pjs for afterwards
more knickers and pads
make up and toiletries (shower gel, toothpaste and brush etc)
dressing gown (granted it is a summery silky one not a big fluffy thing)
slippers
clothes to go home in
comfy bras (need to get nursing bra but waiting for a better idea on size!)
nipple pads

don't want to take too much I always tend to over pack, but I feel like im missing major stuff!

(need to get witch hazel)

ODog · 07/04/2016 15:04

Sounds similar to my bag everything except i packed nipple cream and the stuff for the baby. Although baby clothes not packed yet as I've not washed them but I've picked them out. Just finished packing it and picking through my nursing bras. May need to treat myself to some new ones as they are a bit...er....manky looking to put it kindly!

GunShotResidue · 07/04/2016 15:33

A summery gown is a good idea, the maternity unit when I gave birth to DD was boiling hot.

I haven't bought any nursing bras yet, I'm wearing a 34H now and worried they are going to get bigger Confused I'll probably convert some normal bras as it usually works out cheaper for larger cup sizes and is really easy to do.

Everythinggettingbigger · 07/04/2016 16:47

ODog yep nipple cream is in there I forgot it off my list Grin

Babys bag was packed but seemed too full so I emptied it and haven't put it back in again yet but its all in the cot next to the bag! worse case DP can put it all in on the way out the door!

Ive thought about this Gun....currently a 32G myself and I suspect they are only going to get bigger when milk starts coming in! Bras in these sizes aren't cheap full stop we will probably be better converting! I think I found sets on ebay quite cheap to do it, sounds terrible but just at the min I cant be bothered doing anything like that. hence why the babys bag hasn't been re-packed.....anyone else feeling like this?

katienana · 07/04/2016 18:08

Good news as baby was confirmed head down yesterday. Was a long wait at maternity admissions and a bit weird seeing women in labour coming in! Was also a reminder of how hot it is on the ward I was sweating within a few minutes.
Feeling very grumpy and achey, ready for pregnancy to get over but not mentally geared up for giving birth at all.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 08/04/2016 06:36

Uuuuuurrrrrrrggghhhg had one of those nights where I was lying awake for an hour and a half and gave up and went down to the sofa. Remind me again why we live in an open-plan flat?? So I can't even go and do something in another room without disturbing DP! Anyway I went down to the down to the sofa eventually, had some milk and something to eat and did eventually go back to sleep about 3.30 for another 2 hours until he got up! Not really what I needed after a super exhausting day yesterday...
So anyway today is hand-over day 2 with my maternity cover, feeling at my lowest ebb when I need to be full of energy! I suppose I can only do what I can do - I can't believe I o only have 3 days left at work!
Sorry for the me me me post - hope everyone else had a better sleep than me and have a good start to your Friday!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 08/04/2016 06:44

Oh yeah, and also when I woke up in the night j was genuinely convinced that I could not move my legs and had somehow broken my pelvis. Thanks crazy body, crazy hormones, this pregnancy thing is a laugh a minute!! Confused

armyofthree · 08/04/2016 09:36

Yup bad night here as well. Had a lovely evening at my parents. However the rich food caused so much acidity that I woke up at 1am needing to throw up! Went to the toilet and brought up all my dinner, started to feel dizzy and wasn't steady on my feet. The more I called DH, the more I could hear his snoring. Eventually feeling really sorry for myself, I crawled into bed and passed out. Woken up to a stinking headache (probably from dehydration). Joys of late pregnancy! Sad

Everythinggettingbigger · 08/04/2016 10:02

oh no hope you are both feeling better Army and Cant

didn't have a bad sleep but I've had constant heartburn for over a week now and its driving me insane! and I've woken up with a bad sore throat and feeling a bit run down, there's a bug going round really hope I haven't caught it!

Is everybody all sorted or does anyone still need to make a big purchase? I'm usually a very organised person so the fact that I still need to buy and isofix base is driving me mental! but that's all I need! found out last night that my "surprise" baby shower is 24th April!! yep im not meant to know about it!

Sephipops · 08/04/2016 12:20

I still need to get car seat and Base. And potentially a new car, which is why we haven't got the seat and Base yet, in case it doesn't fit the car!
I haven't been able to sleep past whenever I wake up needing to pee for almost a fortnight now. I feel like I'm going to get more rest when the baby is actually here!

GunShotResidue · 08/04/2016 12:36

We could do with a new car. DH finds out in June if he will go on a course, for various reasons it makes sense to wait until then before buying a new one, so we'll make do with a tiny car for now!

Had my 34 week appointment today, the midwife thinks baby is breech. I have a scan in 2 week and am panicking!

Hope you feel better soon cant and army !

frozensmoothie · 08/04/2016 12:39

We've made all our big purchases now. Last day at work today yipeeeeeeee!!

Will be 37 weeks on Sunday and just realised that baby will be here in a maximum of 5 weeks! Freaking out Shock Shock Shock

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 08/04/2016 13:20

We still need to get a car!! Meant to be having my mum's but she keeps finding reasons for us not to have it yet, so that's our big thing still to get sorted (plus the car seat, bedside crib, bedding...almost everything in fact!!)
I have been super short tempered with my maternity cover person doing handover/training today (oops) but thankfully I seem to have pulled myself out of it now. I seriously cannot believe that I just have the rest of today plus 3 days left next week and then I'm finished at work!

Everythinggettingbigger · 08/04/2016 16:20

Very jealous frozen enjoy Grin only a week left for me too!

37 weeks cant eek! The end is in sight!

Lots of breech May babies gun! Let's hope they all turn!

ParsnipSoup · 08/04/2016 18:52

I'm part of the breech club too... What a bunch of naughty babies.

All of this talk of organisation and hospital bags has inspired me. Just finished packing mine and baby's bag. Just need flip flops for mine because I'm funny about share showers and I think I'm done (although I've probably forgotten loads).

Sorry to hear so many people are sleeping badly. I keep waking up in the night choking on the stomach acid which has worked its way all the way up my throat. It's disgusting. Apparently I also now snore loudly enough to shake the bed.

It's exciting that it's only a matter of weeks until we start having more babies on the thread.
