Hi to all the new people! How lovely to have more in our group.

I've not even begun to think about my maternity bag (just for emergencies since I'm having a home birth). I should get on to that soon.

Spending this week and next painting (possibly the next week too). Managing surprisingly well; it doesn't seem to affect my SPD at all, which is a relief.

I watched OBEM this week and there was a lady admitted at 34 weeks who had to send her dh out for hospital bag stuff so that has spurred me on somewhat! I seem to have loads of post natal stuff and not much for labour.
Is anyone hiring a tens machine? I borrowed of one from a friend last time and it was great.

Nicky333 · 01/04/2016 09:22

I'm at the same stage with a hospital bag as you, cant - I've been given lots of maternity pads by my sister (who gave birth 4 months ago) and I think I know which bag to use. I'm 32 weeks so I have plenty of time Grin

shalalala · 01/04/2016 09:24

Hi I'd like to join - 32+4 due 23rd May, first time mum x

frozensmoothie · 01/04/2016 09:39

Welcome newcomers!

I'm 36 weeks on Sunday and my hospital bag is all packed but I think I have too much stuff so I may need to edit it down. The bag is also quite full of snacks for DH!
I bought a barely used TENS machine from ebay as a few friends have said it really helped them stay at home for longer in the early stages.

I watched OBEM too, suprisingly I'm finding it's actually making me feel a bit relaxed about labour and birth.

I finish work in a week today and it can;t come soon enough! Baby shower is happening on Sunday and I have a breastfeeding class and my 36 week appointment at the Birth Centre next week. Time is really flying again!

notsoold · 01/04/2016 12:37

Hello everyone.... I normally lurk and was around in the beginning.... 32 weeks here and cs is now booked.(finally).
No hospital bags prepared yet and need to buy big knickers for pos cs....

katienana · 01/04/2016 13:22

Just had a midwife appointment and discovered that baby is breech and also large for dates. My ds was 10lb 9oz so not too surprised. Going for another glucose test to.rule out diabetes. Had one at 24 weeks that came back clear. Midwife will come and check position again next week and then refer for scan if needed. Had my suspicions about the position as my bump is a totally different shape than last time.

29redshoes · 01/04/2016 14:25

Another old timer here...I was around at the beginning but haven't posted recently. Now 34+5 and getting excited. Nice to look back over the thread and catch up on everyone's progress.

Nice that you have a date to look forward notso. What's the reason for your CS?

I've always measured big for dates too katie. It can be a bit stressful. Good that they're monitoring things though I guess.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 01/04/2016 14:39

Nice to see you 2 back 29 and notso and hello new people!

I watched OBEM last night too and was fucking horrified surprised by the woman delivering early having her DH shave her legs DRY with an orange bic razor - told me pregnancy friend this morning who found it hilarious that is was THIS that shocked me rather than anything else...my legs would be shred to ribbons if I shaved them dry (and would never ask DP to do it, least of all on hospital/on telly!!)

Thankfully SPD has settled down to an acceptable level since Wednesday (when I crawled to bed on my hands and knees), seeing the osteopath again this afternoon. And after a super stressful week I have started letting go...went in an hour late this morning and have barely done anything yet today!!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 01/04/2016 14:39

Ooh and katie is there still time for the baby to turn?

Everythinggettingbigger · 01/04/2016 14:42

Hi to the not so new ladies returning! I didn't join in until around 25 weeks so I wouldn't have spoken to you before!

oh you are all really starting to make me think I could definitely do with getting my bag ready!

Baby also breech Katie.....I don't know why but definitely finding it more uncomfortable! I honestly don't feel like I can get much bigger at the minute but I know this is just silly because lets face it bump will double in size nearly over the next 7 weeks! would really like a tens machine, I used one with DS but we don't have it anymore, where do you hire them from?

cant my DP goes away for another stag do (I say another as he went on one over Easter weekend) when I will be nearly 36 weeks....I just hope our babies don't decide to make an appearance then and our DP/DH misses the birth! Ive told DP if he misses it its his own fault!

frozen I find myself crossing my legs watching OBEM Grin

Everythinggettingbigger · 01/04/2016 14:44

Thanks for the link Gunshot will be asking midwife about that at my next appointment!

GrouchyKiwi · 01/04/2016 14:51

Katie hope the tests go well for you. There's plenty of time left for the baby to turn. Smile

Hi again to the oldtimers!

Witch hazel is glorious stuff, but don't do what I did and put too much on the pads you freeze. Having pads stuck to your nethers is mighty uncomfortable. Blush

My baby is lying transverse (across the way) at the moment. I'm only 32 weeks, though, so loads of time to turn. DD1 was the same at 37 weeks.

Glad the osteopath is helping with your SPD, cant.

The woman who had her legs shaved on OBEM shocked me too, mainly because she demanded a fresh razor for each leg [shocked]

frozensmoothie · 01/04/2016 15:20

Haha that shocked me too! Who uses a fresh razor for each leg? And surely you've got more important things on your mind when in hospital about to give birth!

Everythinggettingbigger · 01/04/2016 16:39

haha me too!! mine get used a lot more than once per leg!!

Just suddenly dawned on me....Im away tomorrow for a wedding, only about 2 hours drive away from home (probably a bit less) and we are staying over for the night.....do you think I should pack a little emergency bag?? only 32 and a half weeks seems extreme??

Katarzyna79 · 01/04/2016 16:52

whats the witch hazel for?

29redshoes · 01/04/2016 16:57

Sorry notso it's just occurred to me that my question was kind of rude! Feel free to ignore me, can I blame pregnancy brain Blush?

I haven't been watching OBEM but really want to now!

Katarzyna79 · 01/04/2016 17:15

Can't hope you are having a good day . Any consolation I haven't packed yet, I barely go out just ordering everything online. fat underwear coming in the post, need to order pjs and nighty for labour cant find nice maternity ones so I prob just buy super large sizes, hopefully get that done tonight.

toiletries and baby clothes all at home just need to get it into the suitcase. oh yes husband thought he would take my new suitcase to test drive on an easter break. So he's chilling out having a break in lovely Scotland I'm stuck with the 2 naughty ones at home. He;s taken the 2 angels with him (sighs)

I'm almost 35 weeks considering I had all kids except 1 at 37 weeks I really should get sorted asap.

Katarzyna79 · 01/04/2016 17:18

Osteopaths any good for rheumatic joint issues, I also have spd? I had a nhs physio for suspected arthritis/lupus/hypermobility. Really I found her useless she didn't listen to me about my fingers and wrists would just concentrate on my calves and got short with me when I kept mentioning it Confused
honestly all I did were the sort of stretches I do when warming up for exercise, ad I told her I was already doing similar since I exercise regular, again I was ignored.

katienana · 01/04/2016 17:49

You can hire a TENS from boots everything, I think you can book online or just get them in store.
I've looked into it and don't want ECV if baby stays breech, I think with me having bad SPD and likely a big baby it could be a lot of pain for no gain.

ODog · 01/04/2016 20:53

Wow this thread has moved on quickly today.

Welcome newcomers and returners.

I'm planning on getting the last bits for my bag tomorrow afternoon in town and probably not packing it for another 3 weeks .

I bought a second hand tens machine for a tenner and the pads off of eBay for about £3. Didn't use one last time but hoping it will at least he'll a bit in the earlier stages.

DH has been away skiing all week and I've had massive paranoia about the baby coming early. Which is utterly ridiculous given that DS was 10 days late

Hope everyone has good weekends.

35 weeks today - 5 weeks to go!!

GunShotResidue · 02/04/2016 00:58

whats the witch hazel for?

I can't remember if it was just because of having stitches or if it was after they became infected, but the midwife recommended sprinkling some onto the maternity pads. It was amazingly soothing.

I'm only 33+2, but I feel so done with being pregnant! I went into labour with my daughter on the first anniversary of my mum's death (she was born the next day). I will be 36+3 on what would have been my mum's 59th birthday. I joked to DH that it would be weird if I went into labour then, but the idea of only having 3 weeks left is quite nice!

Katarzyna79 · 02/04/2016 01:06

weirdly gun i had my last child on the anniversary of my mums death too but it was the 2nd year anniversary not the first. and it was also the day after my mums death (but the day mum was buried)

i never thought of it but i could possibly go into labour the same date too. my mum died end of April I'm due early may, but i have my kids usually on week 37 so i could have it on mums anniversary again too.

what are the odds of us two having the same story to tell ey?

only yesterday i dreamt about my mother, same dream she's always there table set with lots of home cooked food lots ppl shes there fussing telling me to eat, then i wake up.

GunShotResidue · 02/04/2016 17:12

That is strange Katarzyna would that mean you would have two children sharing a birthday? I have a friend whose sibling was born on her birthday, but with almost a decade between them.
