Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

Another teacher checking in - I'm a chemistry teacher! Last time told my head of department at 8 weeks as I had to have a day off for an emergency scan as I was in agony... Part of me hopes to get to 12 weeks this time around but as I work with a lot of chemicals I should probably go in and tell him on Monday- but as its my job to do the risk assessments for each activity I do so I just need to ramp those up to include danger to foetus and avoid danger where I can- pretty certain I'll be showing well before twelve weeks as the blot has already started and I think I'll need new bras by next weekend!

wetsnow · 31/01/2016 07:11

Last time I told school after 12 week scan. This time I'm going to tell school earlier I think... possible around 8 weeks I think. It's a different school and I have a different relationship with SLT this time.
Last time my head didn't bother finding cover till the last minute and it was all very stressful.
This head is much more organised.

Well come paige

OrangeBlossom2 · 31/01/2016 07:18

I have mid year performance management after half term. I don't know if I will be able to sit there and talk about plans for next year so may tell head then. Bit early though. I am planning on starting mat leave on 1st Sept so effectively leaving at the end of term in July.

wetsnow · 31/01/2016 07:27

*welcome

One of my closest friends is on SLT. Last time I told her the day I got my positive.... but we weren't working together
This time she's actually my phase group leader... so a bit of a trickier situation.

melonribena · 31/01/2016 08:50

Paige, you're very close to me!

I think I might end up telling slt sooner this time. A different head who will react very differently I imagine!

DragonflyMornings · 31/01/2016 09:11

May I join? Had my BFP late last week. Due date is saying 7th of October! This will be my 2nd, my DD is almost 21 months. Bit of a shock, as we had a Center Parcs break booked for the first week of October, so we hadn't really actively 'tried' for this month Grin proof that once is sometimes enough though!

wetsnow · 31/01/2016 09:13

Boob aches today!
Going on my first run since I got my positive test this evening too. Really hoping I can keep running as long as possible.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday. Xx

ashesandfire · 31/01/2016 09:16

I think I will try to wait until 12 week scan as long as everything is going OK, I haven't had to take time off and I'm not really showing by that point. I teach in a sixth form college so maybe slightly different to primary. Last time I didn't find out I was pregnant until 14 weeks so I just told them almost straight away lol! It's weird to have to think about waiting this time round!

Grumpelstiltskin · 31/01/2016 09:27

Hi all, excited to be able to join too (if you'll have me!)
I got a strong BFP on Thurs last week, confirmed by blood test on Friday (we had IVF to get here). EDD 7 Oct.

Symptom-wise I feel ok other than a very heavy-feeling uterus and I get the odd hour of strong cramping, usually in the early hours of the morning. Can't believe we've finally got to this point after over 2 years TTC without a single sniff of a BFP! So am celebrating by using up my supply of pissy sticks and 'just checking' every day- seeing those two lines still isn't getting old.

This'll be my and DH's first and we're in London. An early scan has been already been booked in at our clinic (part of our cycle) for 17 Feb, so I get another fun 2ww now! Please help distract me till then. ConfusedGrin

Hope everyone is doing well.

wetsnow · 31/01/2016 09:35

grumple welcome and we will definitely have you! Fantastic news after such a long wait.

melonribena · 31/01/2016 09:43

Welcome dragonfly and grumple!

ILoveYouBaby · 31/01/2016 12:15

And I'm out.

Good luck everyone, wishing you all healthy and happy pregnancies.

Georgina4 · 31/01/2016 12:35

Very sorry iloveyoubaby. X

daydream86 · 31/01/2016 12:49

I'm still getting spotting today, mostly brown but occasionally a little fresher with little clots but very light and no cramps. rang Gynae assessment unit out of hours last night and the nurse didn't seem
fussed, she said to only be worried if it's painful and heavy. doesn't help
you stop worrying
though, been spotting on and off for last 6 days very lightly before I even got my bfp (i get it every month before period) so it's very hard not to worry! period isn't even officially
due til today or tomorrow.
if I hadn't tested I wouldn't have even known!

daydream86 · 31/01/2016 12:49

so sorry iloveyoubaby xx

Lollieoftheflowera · 31/01/2016 16:21

Hello other mummies! Literally just found out I'm pregnant and due in October!

I'm 31 and it's 8 years since I had my last child. So a total mixture of scared / thrilled / concerned.

Have you all told your partners yet? Any great reactions to share?

I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all. My MN April 2007 group was so, so helpful and it's brilliant to share our up, downs and plain old rants!

Besf of luck to you all in these early weeks. Xx

Lollieoftheflowera · 31/01/2016 16:24

Just seen so many of you are teachers haha. Me too - I teach English KS3, 4 & 5.

kittyvet · 31/01/2016 16:33

Welcome all the newbies! Feeling a bit green about the gills this afternoon but otherwise everything quiet here.

melonribena · 31/01/2016 18:06

I'm so sorry, Iloveyoubaby

Lottie, welcome! Congratulations!

I've been feeling exhausted and grouchy today. Still getting the occasional ache low in my back which worries me.

Been on the allergies board as ds1 had a milk and egg allergy at birth. A poster suggested taking probiotics to reduce the chance of baby having allergies. I've never heard this before but am willing to try anything! Has anyone else done this?

Gigglebert · 31/01/2016 18:59

Lollie, I told my husband as soon as I had my two positive tests, when my first was positive I decided to go all out and use the clearest blue digital I had as well as last time around he didn't know what he was looking at with the cross on he test and said afterwards he wished it had just said pregnant! this time he was more shocked, probably as I woke him at 5am to shove pee covered plastic into his hands! ;) so no big reveal or reaction, just cuddles and 'what are we letting ourselves in for' an hour later when our daughter woke and instantly started screaming for us!

busybeeeee84 · 31/01/2016 20:18

Welcome to all the newbies, looks like we are going to be a busy thread. Another teacher here too, part time in primary.still debating whether to work a couple of weeks in September before dcs arrival so that it makes the year of mat leave more comfortable. Really want the time off after arrival not before if possible (although I know it doesn't always work like that!). I would like to keep it quiet at work till 12 weeks although the bloating is hideous already and my work friends still think I'm at slimming world......awkward!!!ha-ha. Looking forward to getting to know you all

OrangeBlossom2 · 31/01/2016 20:34

Part time primary here too. Ds1 was a little early so I didn't get time to chill out at home, and I could barely walk with spd, so I think stopping at effectively 30 weeks at the end of summer would be a good plan rather than keeping going til the last minute again.

No romance about announcing here - I told DH I had a slight positive while scrubbing the loo ready for visitors to come but wasn't sure, woke him at 4am to tell him I had confirmed it the next day. Quick cuddle and he went back to sleep while I lay awake for hours.

melonribena · 31/01/2016 20:51

Congratulations! I'm Part time primary too. I'm not sure when to finish either. Finished at 32 weeks last time and was ready! But the summer hols seems so early!! Might attempt to go back even if it's just a week or two! A bit different this time with. Preschooler at home!

Shropitlikeitshot · 31/01/2016 21:19

Am I safe in assuming that teachers orchestrate October children for a reason?! There can't be that many of you and it be a coincidence?!!

LisaTheGreek · 31/01/2016 21:45

Welcome Grumpel!

I'm also in London (south-east for me).

I've been symptomless so far, but have started farting more than usual (I almost never fart), need a wee quite frequently, and have been getting a bit tired. Very light symptoms though.

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend x
