Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

Figgygal · 03/02/2016 21:09

I must say I am very glad I don't live in Epsom that doesn't sound fun!!

I had DS in Bath Hospital and couldn't rate it highly enough will be aiming for there again. Need to call midwives tomorrow and get my booking in sorted have worked out I next go back to see family at Easter at which point I will be bang on 12 weeks there is no way I will get away without drinking all weekend and people not knowing so need the scan before then......fingers crossed.

Went to look at a house today been eyeing it up for a while and looks like we will be needing the extra space but with mat pay going to struggle to afford it......and then back to £700 childcare bills every month after mat leave and some costs for DS in afterschool care. Life is so expensive!!

CatsCantFlyFast · 03/02/2016 21:40

soundsystem great news on the anti emetics

Welcome pixie

I love Konmarie too! I think there's a new book out too?

Blueskygirl30 · 03/02/2016 21:49

Hi, can I join please? I got my BFP on Tuesday last week but have been holding back from posting. We've been TTC #1 for 18 months and this is my third pregnancy, first was ectopic, second was an early MC at 4+4 so I'm really nervous this time. My EDD is 8th Oct, I've got an early scan booked in a week on Monday so I'm just counting down the days to that and praying I'll still be pregnant!!! At the moment I know in pregnant but I'm trying not to think ahead to October and imagine I might actually have a baby!

I had to tell work straight away as I couldn't continue my role whilst pregnant. This time I decided to tell my parents the day I got my BFP though so at least they knew before work!

So, hi everyone! Smile

Reluctantnympho · 03/02/2016 21:58

Hi everyone. I would love to join if that's ok. I got my bfp today (10dpo) I've been ttc for 15 months, I've had one mc and 2 chems. So really hoping this one sticks. Fingers crossed that this will be my 5 th pregnancy and he/she will be due on my 39th birthday! Oh and i'm from the midlands too!!

Pixie1988 · 03/02/2016 22:16

Welcome newbies and congrats on your bfp!!

Where about in Midlands are you? X

ashesandfire · 03/02/2016 22:18

Congratulations bluesky and reluctant! Hope you have happy healthy pregnancies :)

I got a date for booking in today and also for a dating scan because my cycle is so long and irregular. Exciting and hope it will make things feel a bit more real.
Am struggling with ditching caffeine atm! Sooo tired all the time and am a coffee addict. Down to one cup a day plus a couple of teas and the rest decaf but I think I should cut down a bit more? I love coffee so much and the decaf doesn't cut it :(

Alwaysinahurrynow · 04/02/2016 04:01

Just got my bfp. DC3 for us and think it's due around 13 October so about halfway between my other two Autumn babies.

Pregnancy insomnia in both of my previous pregnancies and hence why I did a pregnancy test at 3am. Although just read a Daily Fail article about not drinking whilst trying for a baby, so got the guilts about the dinner party last weekend and the glasses of wine that were consumed plus the glass of wine I had last night with DH. I've got a night out with NCT tonight so will have to claim I'm doing Dry February.

Ladycrazycat · 04/02/2016 05:00

Morning always my pregnancy insomnia is back today. I had managed to do OK this week so far, sleeping until 5 one day and 6 another but today was 4! Aaah well!

Try not to worry about the drinking pre-pregnancy. I'm sure there's things everyone could have done better but in the vast majority of cases it turns out ok. In fact we were on holiday last month for three weeks and I was drinking most days! I know how it feels though - I've been worrying about everything.

In fact I've just realised I forgot my folic acid last night. That's the second time I've forgotten so really annoyed at myself!

Gigglebert · 04/02/2016 05:57

Also checking in with insomnia.... Up 1-2 and then up for the day at 4:30, have been like this all week, glad I don't work Fridays so just need to get to 3:30 then it's long weekend time :)

My symptoms are coming and going which is causing no end of stress, felt pretty good yesterday and ao was freaking out but then before bed y sense of smell was suddenly incredible and I had to do the dishwasher and empty the bin to rid the house of curry smell!

Still so nervous, the first trimester is so draining with the worry! I've been looking into early scans and think I may pay for one privately at eight weeks to try and chill me out! With my first I had an early scan as I had ridiculously bad cramping and they needed to rule out an ectopic so the thought of waiting until the 29th of March to be sure all is ok is horrible!

This is the summary of what expecting better says about alcohol and pregnancy - hoping its readable

October 2016 babies
CatsCantFlyFast · 04/02/2016 06:23

The daily mail article says;

Overall, 3.3 million US women (7.3 per cent of women aged 15 to 44 who were having sex, who were non-pregnant and non-sterile) were at risk of exposing their developing baby to alcohol if they were to become pregnant.
'Every woman who is pregnant or trying to get pregnant – and her partner – want a healthy baby,' said Dr Coleen Boyle, director of the CDC's National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities.
'But they may not be aware that drinking any alcohol atany stage of pregnancy can cause a range of disabilities for their child.

So I can see they've analysed data to get to the stats in the first sentence. But there is no mention of the data on which the latter statement is based and all studies referenced in expecting better prove the exact opposite. Crap reporting imp

Alwaysinahurrynow · 04/02/2016 06:47

Thanks all! I know I don't need to worry really. I just told my DH (didn't tell him in the middle of the night) and he is super-excited! We've been very lucky each time.

Allhallowseve · 04/02/2016 07:17

Congrats to everyone getting their bfps I got mine on Saturday but didn't technically miss my period until Sunday so finding only being 4+4 quite depressing ....that 12 week scan seems a long way off. Plus the fact that I haven't really got any symptoms except being hungry , some pinching and aching in uterus area and slightly tender breasts. I can't really remember but I think last time it didn't really kick in until about 7 weeks .

LisaTheGreek · 04/02/2016 08:41

Thank you, soundsystem! And your DH sounds lovely Smile

Welcome Pixie and Bluesky and Reluctant!

Hope everyone has a lovely day x

missybct · 04/02/2016 10:50

Welcome to Pixie, Bluesky and Reluctant - congratulations all Flowers

To be fair, most of us would have conceived within the cycle that we were probably drinking over Christmas - I know full well I sinked a couple of glasses of wine the week before my BFP. I had half a Guinness on Friday night as my iron levels really dip sometimes. Apart from that, no real desire to have alcohol - which is unusual for me (I love wine).

Sounds- glad the antiemetics are working!

Symptoms come and go - it's confusing, I'm still falling asleep at stupid o'clock (8:30pm last night) - I think I'm around 5+4, boobs don't feel as achey today, just bloody tired. This first trimester is such a ballache!

SimileMilly · 04/02/2016 11:38

Hi to all the new BFPs! Symptoms keep coming and going here, feeling very anxious about it all. Have booked a private early scan for the 20th feb, next MW app 2 weeks after that and 12wk scan likely to be 2 weeks after that. In my head it feels a lot better breaking it down like that. I'm working on the 'today I am pregnant' mantra and trying not to plan too far ahead.

I need to go over to a different site for a conference this afternoon so meeting DP and DD for lunch en route. Can't wait!

We're having friends round for dinner this weekend. We were at there's last weekend and I got out of drinking by driving but not sure how we can hide it this weekend, other than alcohol free wine poured in the kitchen? I don't even miss drink this time!

melonribena · 04/02/2016 12:04

Hi everyone! Just wondering, has everyone given up caffeine? I did with ds but reading up it seems I can have two cups of tea a day?

Ladycrazycat · 04/02/2016 12:23

Melon I have cut down. I'm not drinking coffee or coca cola (I've got used to the caffeine free one) but I am having one or two cups of tea. It's up to 200mg they recommend.

I usually drink a lot of coffee and its funny how it's all in my head that it helps me stay awake as I've been sleeping less but drinking less caffeine!

CatsCantFlyFast · 04/02/2016 12:32

I found the best alcohol solutions were either drinking g&t or similar but just the mixer. Or low alcohol beer or cider. Or, where having/pouring alternative drinks isn't an option just ensure both yours and OH drinks are placed together on the table and have him drink both. Nobody will notice - your drink may get refilled/topped up as normal but he drinks out of both glasses interchangeably.

Figgygal · 04/02/2016 13:09

I cannot downplay just how much alcohol I drank last weekend I literally had no expectation that would have got lucky last month after a year of ttc. Dates say I am 5 weeks today as you don't actually conceive in the first week I think I am so early it wont have mattered.

I usually only drink 1-2 cups of tea a day anyway so within safe limits have replaced diet coke with tonic water which I love anyway.

Left a vm for the local midwives this morning to arrange booking in waiting for a call back.

isthatpoisontoo · 04/02/2016 13:27

I haven't given up caffeine, melon. I looked at the evidence in Expecting Better and decided I was comfortable with two strong coffees a day (that's 2-4 cups because the two cups rule assumes instant or filter rather than a coffeeshop one or my espresso machine). I did decide not to buy from Costa, as their coffees are stronger. In truth, I'm usually only having one, in the morning, as the morning sickness really puts me off coffee.

Also wanted to say to those worrying about alcohol that drinking before the embryo implants is nothing to worry about, because it's not taking anything from you. You have about a week's grace after conception, I think.

I don't really pay attention to whether others are drinkin . No one has said anything to me yet when I've been on tonic water, even when we've been discussing the joys of craft beer.

missybct · 04/02/2016 13:51

I'm still drinking about two cups of tea/coffee (usually one of each) a day - I've switched to decaff or decaffeinated herbal drinks.

Right now I just want to sleep. I've eaten enough today, I had ridiculous amounts of sleep, but I just want to go home. I have absolutely NO concentration for work whatsoever Blush
