Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

Hi ladies,

Would love to (tentatively) join you. Got the bfp on a Clearblue digi this morning. Due date would be 14th October going from LMP. I'm 32 and already have one DD who is seven months. Congratulations everybody!

Wetsnow – I’m South-East London! Whereabouts are you?

Missybct – if you need to see the midwife for reassurance, call them. Don’t sit back and think you’re being too anxious or causing any problems – just do what you need to do to feel calm. If it all comes back as fine then the worst is that you’ll feel silly, but I bet you’ll feel reassured and glad you got it all checked out. If it’s important to you, it’s ok to call (try GP or midwife first, rather than A&E though).

Welcome, Figgy and Angharad and many congrats!

missybct · 02/02/2016 15:42

Welcome figgy and Angharad - congratulations! Flowers

Thanks Lisa- I've had some issues fertility wise in the past (PCOS) and had some complications last year, so I guess I'm a bit more apprehensive than normal. Fortunately I got through to GP (I couldn't justify A&E, I can't stand them!) who has asked me to come in for an appointment at 5:40 - gonna be a tight squeeze with work but we can hot foot it down there. Not sure there is anything much he can do without having a good old look at my chuff...Blush

CatsCantFlyFast · 02/02/2016 15:46

missy antibiotics are fine. Much better than having an untreated infection so call your gp x

poison it might be helpful to work out what exactly you are afraid of about labour - a doula or birth coach would certainly help with this. Because if it's pain then that's one thing, but it it's interventions or whatever (eg I desperately didn't want forceps so that was my reason for ruling out an epidural) then that's another. And lots and lots and lots (the majority in fact) of people have complication free labours that are totally manageable. (I managed with tens/paracetamol and the pool (the gas made me puke) and I was only in labour 6 hours. I had only a couple of what I would call painful contractions - the rest was manageable and more uncomfortable than anything else. I was in a complete panic the whole time until I got to the birth centre - I'm not a natural hypno birthing calm type person but the books I'd read did help).
I guess what I'm trying to say is that we all imagine the worst but it may well be much easier than you expect. A doula can and will work with you while pregnant and be there as a birth partner wherever you give birth so may be a great option for you.

Who said they were Norfolk/Suffolk? I used to live in a village near Thetford (and Wymondham and Attleborough before that)!

Gigglebert · 02/02/2016 16:54

Apologies as I've not yet worked out the tagging people thing on my phone! Hi to all the new people :) I'm definitely in a daze, tripped on the way out of work and skinned my knee and elbow (thankfully my v.expensive new jumper survived!)... Feeling quite tender now! Also very nauseous in the mornings, mega thirsty and struggling with tiredness (very early to bed then up at 4am!!) - that one may be down to caffeine withdrawal though, I can't even stomach decaf coffee!

Also, I know its just bloating but I swear I look more pregnant today than my 30week colleague! won't be able to keep it quiet for long if this continues!

CatsCantFlyFast · 02/02/2016 18:29

Hope you're ok giggle. The bloating goes - it's weird as you have a while of looking pregnant and then it goes and you don't look pregnant again for ages!

Puking has started here. And like last time it gave me zero notice so I ended up being sick in the sink with DD1 watching/laughing/mimicking me :(

kittyvet · 02/02/2016 18:37

Welcome all the newbies. Sorry tuddles My booking in appt next week. Makes it all more real. My hospital has agreed to give me a harmony test at my 12 wk scan. I have to pay but don't have to travel over an hour to a private clinic. Keep any receipts for prescriptions you get- I didn't realise last time and missed out on reclaiming the money.

Congratulations to today's newbies!!

Sorry to hear about your puking Merkin. Is it just in the morning?

Hope you're ok Giggle, sounds nasty.

I've been on a 9 hour school trip today, exhausted now!

Shropitlikeitshot · 02/02/2016 18:50

If the baby is the size of a poppy seed, how big is all the gubbins that surround it? I feel enormous and depressed to think it's only a teeny speck.

I'm very concerned about this zika virus, I have to go to Florida in a couple of weeks and there have been three cases there. I really don't want work to know I'm pregnant.

LisaTheGreek · 02/02/2016 19:06

Hmmm, Shrop - how does Zika travel? Is it in the water/ contagious, etc? I'm going off to research and see what I can find.

In other names, creme fraiche isn't in Ovia's food list. Does anyone know if we can have it or not?

LisaTheGreek · 02/02/2016 19:10

Ok, Shrop, I don't think you should go. If you don't want to say you're upduffed, maybe use some other excuse.

Been reading the BBC stuff and while it's currently less common in North America, they expect it to explode across there and avoiding a mosquito bite is pretty difficult - but there are things you can do (stay inside, seems to be the main one).

Sorry, don't want to add to your fears. But I think you should avoid, just in case.

ditsygal · 02/02/2016 19:10

shrop the 3 cases in florida have all been people who have travelled to brazil etc, so no one has actually caught it in florida yet.
I have a holiday planned there for May and while my initial reaction was to think we would cancel, I am now waiting to see what the official advice is regarding florida closer to the time as at the moment its not on the list of places to avoid. All I can suggest is to keep an eye on the news in the next couple of weeks and take all precautions you can to avoid getting bit by mosquitos if you go.

Shropitlikeitshot · 02/02/2016 19:16

It would be VERY VERY difficult to get out of without telling the truth, I am the only one who could do the trip and would be letting everyone down.

I'm seeing the nurse on Monday and I've asked her to research.

Shropitlikeitshot · 02/02/2016 19:20

Plan to get some killer repellant and stay in doors (easy, il be in an exhibition hall). But dh is anti me going as he hates my boss.

Awaiting a similar thread to start on here but too scared to start one myself!

ditsygal · 02/02/2016 19:20

I've just read an article now saying that if Zika gets to florida (its not there yet) its likely to be in the summer when it gets really hot, so I have to say I think you would be ok in the next few weeks. It's also cool enough there at the moment that you could wear long sleeves and trousers and not look at all odd.
It's so hard though isn't it as you don't want to spend the whole time stressing about it. I am googling it several times a day at the moment to see if there is any update each time!

SimileMilly · 02/02/2016 19:59

Booking in appointment was a big disappointment. MW was running late, rushed through all my paperwork before asking when my LMP was at the end (I told her when I went in that I hadn't had a period since MC and she didn't appreciate my answer of 18th October..) and told me I couldn't have an early scan on the NHS as one miscarriage in a row isn't enough to push resources, I should just pay for one privately. Which I've done - booked for 21st Feb. Left feeling very disheartened but didn't like this MW when I had her with DD much anyway.

wetsnow · 02/02/2016 19:59

Welcome newbies.

Hmm shrops it's winter there now... tricky. I don't think I would go.

lisa Bromley where are you?

wetsnow · 02/02/2016 20:00

Any one else constantly angry? And like a ball of rage... strange as I'm normally quite quiet and calm.

LisaTheGreek · 02/02/2016 20:06

Eltham! Not far at all Grin

wetsnow · 02/02/2016 20:07

I live in Chislehurst and work in Eltham! 😂😂 small world!

leoniethelioness · 02/02/2016 20:17

Oh, a lot has happened since I checked this thread last! Hi to all of the newbies!

My booking appointment is on 17 February. Quite looking forward to it! I'm six weeks tomorrow. I can't wait for the next six weeks to pass so I can tell my family!

melonribena · 02/02/2016 20:28

Wetsnow, yes! Constantly annoyed at work and home! Nothing seems to cause it just feel the rage!!! Never had this with ds!

Sorry to hear of your bad experience simile,
Can you request a different midwife?

Figgygal · 02/02/2016 20:41

I think after a year of trying I'm in shock it feels a bit underwhelming unbelievably.

I'm in Bristol but from Scotland.

Apparently I'm 4wks 5 days it's going to be a long wait will call midwives next week get booking in appointment sorted.

Paige84 · 02/02/2016 21:20

Hi to all the newbies. Not checked in for a few days, there's a fair few of us now!

Today I sorted my booking in apt but it's not until March 4th as only one midwife in the village dr's and she's on hol for the fortnight before that!

Today I also cried at work. Over nothing!! Very unlike me. I've also been angry.... Very angry!! My poor OH, he has no idea what he's let himself in for!!

I hope everyone else has had a slighter better day than I have :)

Georgina4 · 02/02/2016 22:17

Congratulations to all the new bpf.

Missy- I hope your appt went well and your feeling more reassured.

Figgy - my sister recommended joining a baby bus group as she found herself so helpful. Glad your 2011 is still going. Hers from 2012 is still going strong and I've even met one of them when I tagged along for coffee. Smile

My booking in appt is 23/02/16 but still feels surreal, as if it won't be real until I have someone medical verify it!
