Hi all, just checking in. Scan went well on Wednesday, baby still on 10thish centile, but the consultant is happy that it's staying on the 10th centile line. I've got to go back in 2 weeks, but I'm feeling a little bit better about it now. Lots of strong movements too which is reassuring.

3littlebadgers · 10/07/2016 14:57

Owl that is brilliant news! The movements are very reassuring Smile

Owl that's excellent news

Cake there is no right way to name a child and lots of people reuse names and others change their mind last minutes after planning on reusing it and come up with completely diffrent names, because the name they were planing don't suit the child. That can happen even with people who prepare new names. Do what's right for you.

Badly I think your way of connecting your children's names is very beautiful.

OwlinaTree · 10/07/2016 20:57

Thanks guys.

OwlinaTree · 15/07/2016 07:59

ONE MONTH TO GO! I can't believe it. I'm feeling quite nervous now, any time the baby is still for a bit I panic slightly. Work helps keep my mind off things, only one more week of work though.

earthmoon · 15/07/2016 19:45

That is an excellent milestone to reach owl. Congratulations.

OwlinaTree · 20/07/2016 20:02

Hi hope everyone is OK. Had another scan today, baby still measuring small, so they are seeing me next week and the week after, then baby will be born the following week assuming all is well at the next two appointments. They've brought the section forward by a few days to bang on 39 weeks. Dr says not to worry, they want to just keep an eye on the growth, but it does seem like a lot of monitoring if everything is OK.

Hope you guys are all OK, this heat is hard work to deal with.

earthmoon · 25/07/2016 12:28

I'm not likening the heat very well either. Otherwise I been well. Had my first growth scan on Friday & baby measured fine. Dr even said according to my blood test & scan results they would look to deliver baby at 38weeks if I continue to control my diabetes as well as I'm doing & no other variable happens. He was really positive. However, just as we were about to leave he asked me for my obstetric history. He then changed the plan he had made for me only because of the stillbirth. I'm gonna get delivered earlier than expected. 35-36 week, instead of 37weeks. He also said I need a scan every other week and see one of the obstetrician after each scan. He also said I get the choice of either another c-section or induced second vbac.
I had emergency c-section because of failure to dilate with ds1 and an induced vbac with ds2.
I learnt a very valuable lesson on Friday, ask if the Dr has familiarised with my notes before they start to make a plan for me to save everyone some precious time.

earthmoon · 25/07/2016 12:43

owl next week would be last full week with baby inside of you. I hope you can enjoy it, which I assume can be hard to. Have you prepared most things yet?? Like a hospital bag & the nursery?

Can anyone recommend an electric or automatic breast pump? I used a manual one and loved it last time I breastfeed (for ds1), but I found it time consuming. I'm hopping the electric ones would require less faff and that they would be quicker.

OwlinaTree · 25/07/2016 18:45

Sort of organised, I think I've got all the stuff for the bag, need to get out the newborn clothes and actually put things in the bag. I think I'm putting it off tbh, but I guess i better do it soon.

I have a medula swing this one which i got on very well with.

OwlinaTree · 25/07/2016 18:47

Got on very well with, managed to pump 4.4l for the Birmingham milk bank!

figsandalmonds · 26/07/2016 11:04

Hello everyone, it's been a while.

Owl congratulations on reaching your milestones every week. I will be thinking of you in the next few weeks... We're 30weeks and have bought a few bits but we seem to have just piled them up in random places, rather than actually organised in any way. We still haven't touched Sophie's room or her things, they are as we / she left them the day she died. I am dreading going through her things, though we have been preparing for it for a while.

Earth congratulations on your milestones too! It's frustrating to hear doctors not reading files. I have had this a few times in this pregnancy too. I now have a butterfly on my file but I don't know that everyone knows what this means. We saw a diabetic nurse last week (my readings were a bit high in the GTT) and she didn't mention anything so I asked if she knew, she did. Somehow I was also annoyed that she hadn't mentioned this or acknowledged it somehow. I hate having to bring it up and ask, but pretending we never had a first child is no solution either.

We're working on labour preparation at this point. We've been offered 1 to 1 mindfulness with a consultant midwife at the hospital which I'm hoping will be good. Hypnobirthing was also an option but expensive. I'm feeling a bit better about the labour these days so we'll see how it all goes.

xo

earthmoon · 27/07/2016 16:52

Thank you for the recommendation owl, but dh just mentioned asking the hospital about renting it from them. If I do deliver at their timescale then baby will be officially premature, but I don't know if that counts for anything as it would be only two or one week before reaching term. Do any of you know if it is possible to just request hiring a breast pump from hospital? Or would I just need to wait until next week and ask then?

I'm not even sure I would like to agree with them on extra early induction, until someone explain to me why the fact of having stillbirth automatically means next baby needs to be delivered before term. The obstetrician was very happy to let me reach 38weeks (if things stay the same and no other varible appears) before I told him how I delivered ds2 & why I was induced early with him. That made him change his mind on delivery targets and offering me extra scans. I like scans despite them making me feel extra anxious, I won't questions anyone why I'm gonna get extra ones. I'm very happy they keeping an extra eye on baby.

I haven't got anything signifying ds2 passing except it having being written clearly inside my notes along with my obstetric history. I had hoped the obstetrician would at least glance at it and then ask any questions he may have. Before making up a plan that he would need to change. I'm diabetic on insulin and I knew about the early induction of 37-38weeks and I was prepared to hear that, but nothing earlier than that.

Figs sorry to hear about the high sugar, it's frustrating and annoying at the best of time, forget about it during pregnancy. Are you able to control it with diet? Or are they giving you medication?

figsandalmonds · 03/08/2016 12:31

Good news!! We just heard back from the geneticist and the baby doesn't have the same gene mutation Sophie did. The chance was minuscule but there nonetheless and it's been confirmed this child doesn't have it. I am so grateful to what the hospital have done for us, we are so so so so lucky to be where we are (a research centre) that sequenced our DNA to tell us what Sophie died of and to develop this test for us to tell us that this baby didn't have the same problem Sophie had.... I didn't feel stressed about it but I am slowly just absorbing this news and what it means...

Thank you for being here too. I am so grateful this thread exists.

Now to find ways to celebrate this evening... any ideas?

OwlinaTree · 03/08/2016 18:22

That's fantastic news figs. Must be a huge relief to you. How many weeks are you now? I think a chocolate cake would be a good celebration!

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow, section is in one week and one day. Think we are just about ready. Had another scan today and baby is measuring much larger now, more like 40th centile, so fx should all be straightforward.

figsandalmonds · 04/08/2016 10:40

Hi Owl - I can't believe you're there! I will be thinking of you next week! I hope it all goes well!

I'm 32 weeks, so just around the corner too... we celebrated with an amazing meal and chocolate mousse!!

xo

figsandalmonds · 09/08/2016 14:04

Hi Owl - how are you doing? Your section is Thursday right? how are you feeling? Thinking of you and hope all goes well!

x

OwlinaTree · 09/08/2016 19:56

Thanks figs, yes nearly there now. We are both pretty anxious at the mo tbh, not sleeping well. I can tell my dh is really stressed. I think we will just be relieved when the little one is here safely. On the whole, our anxiety has been less this pg, but these last few days are difficult.

Pre op tomorrow morning, then in for 7am Thursday. Fx we'll be down for the section fairly quickly.

Hope you are feeling good, how many weeks have you got left at work now?

figsandalmonds · 10/08/2016 07:44

I can only imagine how stressful it is... I'll be thinking of you both today and tomorrow and beyond! I hope hospital staff are kind and supportive. I hope you have some nice things to take to the hospital with you, good music, or distractions or essential oils or whatever it is you might find helpful! I'll be checking in here later today, tomorrow and Friday and waiting for your good news.

I'm 32weeks+, doing ok. I'm doing a PhD so I need to work to move forward as much as possible but no deadlines as such and I have the luxury of being flexible as to where and what hours I work....

Sending you love & light (and to everyone else!) x

OwlinaTree · 11/08/2016 07:48

We are at the hospital. All OK so far. Midwife asked us what we were having, discussed it etc. Then she said well you've got one of each already. Er no, we've just got a son. She's holding my notes ffs.

figsandalmonds · 11/08/2016 14:16

Oooh that's not a good start!! My file is marked too clearly in several places and they still ask if this is my first child!

I wonder if you are already holding baby by now! I hope it all goes well.

Thinking of you lots!

OwlinaTree · 11/08/2016 16:40

Hi guys, I've had a little girl this morning by c section. She is 6lb13oz and gorgeous with loads of dark hair! I'm pretty shattered now tbh. Wish I could go home but that won't happen till tomorrow.

figsandalmonds · 12/08/2016 10:35

Congratulations!! Such wonderful news!!

Very very very happy for you all! I hope you recover quickly!

Thinking of you lots and sending lots of love xx

earthmoon · 14/08/2016 08:15

Congratulations FlowersFlowersFlowers
I'm very happy for you to.

Hope you are home by now and I wish you a swift recovery.

OwlinaTree · 14/08/2016 10:17

Thanks guys, we are home now and getting used to our new addition. She's just starting to sleep a bit more! I'm still in shock tbh, we feel so blessed to have this beautiful rainbow. Thank you for your support, it has been good to be able to talk to people who understand.
