OK, OK, so we already had a couple of babies on the last thread, but we're going to struggle to keep up with the number of new arrivals in this one!!!

Hahah chinchilla, you know you've got a problem when people get you gardening vouchers for christmas. I bought new secateurs with mine Blush

I'm really looking forward to having the baby out in the garden pottering around on mat leave. Bought a cat net for the pram and everything! Whether reality matches up to the dream time will tell. I may need to see what's its really like by stalking the postnatal thread maisie!

p.s. just realised I was in the bath for 1 hour 20 minutes! Epic!

Oh God clara, think we're twins... my DP describes my gardening as a problem addition and I'm not allowed near nurseries unsupervised lest I buy everything in sight. I used my birthday garden centre vouchers for secateurs last year, and requested gardening shears as a present from my DP Blush

My lovely colleagues, when seeing me off, bought me shed loads of chocolate biscuits, a bottle of red and a bottle of artisan gin, amongst other things midnight. I'm torn as to whether my 'I've grown a human, given birth to it and now I'm home!' drink will be the malbec, a g&t, a proper martini or champagne am a lush and don't care!

Will be over asap maisie! We had a real rush of babies and now there's a little lull, so I hope we get a few more over the next few days- want to coo over the pictures Smile. Can't wait to graduate and see you all on the other side....

madsaz76 · 09/02/2016 20:12

I suddenly remembered I was allowed a drink last night and had a baileys. I have bubbles in but would need to share.

I'd definitely agree with handbag - the support in this group is great. It's helped me come to terms with the difference between logic and emotion - and that both are valid.

I had loads of fears and ideas - I was uncomfortable with my first examination. Turns out once in my very rapid labour I didn't give a toss and actually wish I had demanded one sooner to save me from transition alone

cudbywestrangers · 09/02/2016 21:51

I agree with all those who have said that irrational grumpiness (sorry nice mechanics at the garage the day before ds1 arrived) and crazy sorting/ cleaning (lots of present ordering and wrapping the day before ds2) are signs of impending labour!

I have been looking forward to post pregnancy drink for ages only to end up on metronidazole which is the 1 antibiotic that doesn't go well with booze, so will have to wait for the weekend!

Re sweeps, i had 1 last time and found it fairly uncomfortable but am not goid at having stuff done to me! The midwife did say that there was no sign of impending labour which was kind of good to know. Had been undecided about whether to decline this time, but nature intervened! I don't do well with examinations in labour either, but it was useful to know where i was up to when i wanted to push and they were telling me not to because i wouldn't be dilated! Turns out pushing was the way to go...

Hope the waiting passes quickly, we're really enjoying our new addition Smile and definitely worth all the pregnancy niggles and worries

haquoi123 · 09/02/2016 21:57

I think I beat you on the bath, clara, just got out after a couple of hours minimum. I'm not usually a bath person (and feel really guilty about water) but it casks me down so went for it. Now considering attempting to cut my toenails which are, and I'm not judging, a cm long Confused

haquoi123 · 09/02/2016 22:01

*calms me down! A cask of something would be nice!

And thanks for the co-sleeping link chinchilla, that's really useful!

Toenails are cut. Woop!

haquoi123 · 09/02/2016 22:02

Balls! *kidding, not judging

NorthernChinchilla · 09/02/2016 22:26

Glad it was useful haq Smile and treat yourself to a pedicure. Basic one is only £10 ish, and I'm in the SE...that and eyebrows are the best late pregnancy and early baby treat! Cheap, quick and make you feel great, and I say that as someone who's never even worn makeup.

goldmaple · 10/02/2016 01:41

I can't quite believe I'm still pregnant. More pregnant than I've ever been with DC1 or DC2.

I did not get the 'cervical rimming'Smile done today because I have a terrible cold!! My throat and nose are killing me. I don't want to face labour until I am slightly healthier.

At my appointment today baby wasn't showing growth for 2nd week so I was sent for a scan. Baby is measuring 41+6!!! I'm only 39+3!! They estimated 8lbs12oz or 3.98kg!!
Shock My EDD according to the measurements was Jan 30th - but they didn't mention changing my due date or induction etc...

GP said 'this definitely isn't a baby that's not growing'. I'm a bit wary now and hoping for baby to come as soon as I'm healthy!

Also dreaming of a G&T as soon as safely possibleWink

madsaz76 · 10/02/2016 05:08

My baby was 95% centile on fundal height and 50 ish on a growth scan - predicted at about 8a nd a half pounds

She was 6lb 9oz and nothing fits. May not be anywhere near that size

goldmaple · 10/02/2016 05:22

madsaz I've heard the scans are not very accurate as well. I'm not too worried. Also the head circumference was smaller than DC1, and the rest is just squishy....

Just occurred to me that the newborn clothes may not fit though. I'll pack a few options:)

Troika · 10/02/2016 06:44

I had a bath last night too, had been having bad pains and it dulled them right down to a period type ache. Made poor dd come and sit with me while I had it as dp was out with ds at football and I was worried I might get stuck or go into full blown labour. She was a total star last night for me, cleared table, loaded dishwasher, swept floor Smile

Still having the period pains but pretty sure it's just warm up and I have a while to go yet. 39+3 today.

Troika · 10/02/2016 06:46

I'm wanting gin too. Have been having the t part fairly regularly as apparently it helps with restless legs but it's a poor substitute without the g!

Troika · 10/02/2016 06:49

Oh and also, I'm struggling to do satisfying poos as it feels like baby is in the way Blush. I'm not constipated as such, just feel like it can't all get past. Hoping this doesn't mean there'll be a huge release during labour!

XingXingFox · 10/02/2016 09:48

I'd love a G&T and a beer too! DD cluster fed for the first 3 months so I couldn't drink, hope this one isn't the same!

Reassuring about growth scans! I've been told she was 95th centile and now she's not growing do is measuring behind. It doesn't seem to be an exact science!

Checking in here 39+5.

HarimadSol · 10/02/2016 10:04

DH has packed a bottle of wine and some plastic wine glasses in his hospital bag. Can't wait! WineGrin But I'm only 37+4, so I might have a while to go.

HandbagFan · 10/02/2016 10:41

40+4 today... Still here...

Woke up this morning with some cramps and twinges. Allowed myself to get a little excited. Just had some breakfast and everything's gone quiet again. I can't honestly say I've had a contraction at all yet, but I have felt like the first day of your period for about the past week. Ho hum.

Midwife this afternoon which is a reason to straight my hair and put some make up on - I've pretty much stopped leaving the house.

haquoi123 · 10/02/2016 11:04

handbag I could have written that post. Ditto midwife this afternoon as well. Going to head out for a walk in this gorgeous sunshine, see if I can jiggle him along a bit.

Speaking of sunshine, it doesn't half show the windows up! I took one look this morning and booked a window cleaner. (we haven't cleaned them since we moved in a year ago. Probably should have done it when the bird shat all over one...) Now that's a bit of nesting where I don't have to lift a finger Wink

chinchilla, that's an idea about the pedicure... I've never had one before, it's never occurred to me!

troika have you tried J Breathing? It gets me through my poos and also can help with that last bit of wee. Short, sharp, deep breath in and then breathe out through your nose imagining the air is travelling down your spine and curving round underneath your bum. It does the trick for me (sposed to be for getting baby out)

gold my baby was supposed to be about 9lbs 7oz at 40 weeks (now 40+4), but like mad says they can really be out. I'm hoping he's a bit smaller (not because of getting him out, bloody hell, ds was a nightmare to push out because he was so tiny, bigger apparently is easier) but because I've been given so many newborn clothes I want him to wear at least some of them!

Alcohol wise, my MIL give me a one-person sized bottle of prosecco for Christmas, specially for his eviction day. Mwahahaha!

HandbagFan · 10/02/2016 11:08

Haquoi - I might copy your walk idea... If I go to the cake shop and back it's just under a mile and I end up with cake! Yay! Cake

I got a bottle of pink champagne the week after my positive test - it's been waiting since June in the kitchen... Plus we got a phone call from Virgin Wines at one point checking we were OK because I hadn't been ordering Sauvignon Blanc as much! Oops!

BlueKarou · 10/02/2016 11:19

Some very interesting re: sweeps. The pros and cons all make sense to me, and of course everyone has their own emotional starting point for these things. Mine is that if I'd let nature take its course there likely wouldn't be a baby to be had in the first case - this large lumpy kid was created by IVF so I'm fairly pro-medical intervention.

No lab results yet, but symptom-wise it's got to be a uti, so am expecting anti biotics once they've confirmed things.

Getting more persistent BH lately, but they're not painful or even that uncomfortable; just a tightening of things and the bump goes hard. Also the joyful constipation seems to have passed and things in the bowel department are moving much more rapidly which is a promising sign. 39+1 today so not quite at impatience point yet - in fact am still technically on annual leave until Friday so it's easier all round if he comes after the weekend!

Very jealous of all your baths; might have to send the dogs away for a couple of hours (younger one has some destructive tendencies when bored) so I can have a relaxing bath evening.

clarabellski · 10/02/2016 11:49

haha handbag I had that same phone call from Virgin Wines, possibly the most embarrassing phone call of my life!

Also have the midwife this afternoon. I am booked for a sweep but at the moment I'm thinking I don't want to have it. I've also been experiencing period-type cramps, odd twinges and tender pelvis for the past week so I'd rather let my body do its own thing for a few more days before trying any kind of intervention. I have to say (TMI) I'm the opposite with poos - however the baby is positioned they are cleaning me out!

My thoughts on pedicures - had one once, it was more uncomfortable than a smear test, but then I'm v tickly and hate people touching my feet!

Flowers to goldmaple and blue. I had an infection (and then caught thrush from the antibiotics) the other week and I definitely didn't want to go into labour at that point! It all cleared up within a few days though, so fingers crossed you both get better quickly!

Mad 6lb90z is so dinky! I suspect mine will be a bit heavier given that they will have been in the oven longer! I did panic buy a pack of newborn size sleepsuits and vests yesterday though, as I realised all of my hand me downs were 0 - 3 months...

XingXingFox · 10/02/2016 12:17

I could have written your post too handbag I have become a recluse!

Now I am fixated on getting a window cleaner, ours are disgusting!

blue that is a very good point re medical intervention!

Hope all these sweeps bring some new babies!

HandbagFan · 10/02/2016 14:18

Ok the walk did nothing. I did however get a Belgian bun as big as my head which served as lunch so not an entire waste.

Midwife at 3... Have been watching sweep videos on you tube and grossed myself out. Current plan is to see which midwife I get - I've seen pretty much every one they have - and then to see how engaged baby is before I make up my mind. Just did a home blood pressure reading and it's pretty high which is not surprising given how stressed I feel!

Are we sure we can't just open a window and have a stork arrive with a clean, potty fed baby that sleeps all night?

goneswimming · 10/02/2016 16:13

I'm really uncertain about weight for the baby- on fundal measuring he was above the upper line and predicted to be eleven pounds! Then they did a growth scan, and predicted him closer to nine pounds. Will newborn size babygros still fit him if the scan predictions are accurate?
