OK, OK, so we already had a couple of babies on the last thread, but we're going to struggle to keep up with the number of new arrivals in this one!!!

Oh yes thanks sighing, clara actually mentioned that to me on another thread. I'll have to send DH out for some Grin

There's also nipple twiddling but I'm not desperate enough for that yet! Thinking of booking acupuncture though.

Thanks gold Smile This one obviously didn't get the memo!

HandbagFan · 27/01/2016 19:33

Sitting on the sofa getting some very odd movement... Feels like he's trying to push out the top of my bump. It's going rock hard and there's a real pushing feeling from inside. Any ideas? It's not in my bits so don't think it's anything looming, and he's been heads down since 32 weeks so pretty sure it's his bum and feet rather than head. Just very odd. Had it three times int he last 15 minutes or so...

madsaz76 · 27/01/2016 20:39

I get this. I think he rock hard is probably a BH - didn't realise that till on the CTG and was asked it I was feeling the contractions.

Rubbing usually settles the hardness down.

Troika · 27/01/2016 20:44

I get this too, I thought it was just baby having a stretch?

HandbagFan · 27/01/2016 20:54

Seems to have passed now. I've been having the rock hard thing quite painlessly before which I had assumed were BH, but this was very odd with the pressure coming from inside. He's pretty entirely on my left ha d side now, with the bump having changed shape completely. Midwife appt tomorrow so will see what she says.

MaryEllen1 · 27/01/2016 21:50

DP put all the nursery furniture together today and it all looks good and it's all starting to feel a lot more real now Grin roll ok 12 Feb when I can go on Mat leave

goneswimming · 27/01/2016 21:51

madsaz I've been meaning to ask you, since you had the ecv how different does your bump feel? Can you feel kicks now that you couldn't before, and is it a different shape? I've got my appointment tomorrow to check if he's turned (he hasn't) and plan next actions...

madsaz76 · 27/01/2016 22:08

Totally different. Is sitting a bit lower though not engaged so I have swapped bum for head. Get kicks higher up now and clear movement visible. Still tends to lean to my right but also I think now back to front which is good. I still get some jabs low down but they are less powerful and I am sure are arms. A lot less of the internal smear test stuff! (Thank god)

Now on 50th centile not 95th

My backache improved a lot as did my appetite. I suspect he/ she will be decently overdue now but relaxed about that.

My ECV was outrageously straight forward (so much so that the consultant was gobsmacked) so I have no guarantees for anyone else but I feel happy I did it.

Newlywed123 · 28/01/2016 06:09

Feeling incredibly refreshed today Grin. I went to sleep at 8pm, woke up 5 times just to pee but think the early night was a good idea.. especially with a wide awake 1 YO at 5am.

Consultant today, see if he has anything to say Smile

MaisieDotes · 28/01/2016 11:14

40+1 today.

I've just rung up about acupuncture, I'm waiting for them to get back to me.

I've always said I didn't like the look of acupuncture or believe it works somehow I've managed to get over that now Blush

How's everyone's morning going?

RattyCatty · 28/01/2016 11:27

maisie I had acupuncture to help bring my periods back after stopping the pill & really rated it. Very relaxing & brought back my cycle.

clarabellski · 28/01/2016 12:02

Morning everyone, just been for a bracing walk in the wind. Felt good!

I'm chowing dates like it is going out of fashion but then I like them anyway! They are a great quick sugar burst when feeling low and not really hungry.

handbag I get uncomfortable hard lumps pushing up at the top and at right hand of the bump which I beleve are knees or feet. If I press on them for a few seconds, baby gets the message (most of the time!) and rearranges itself. Grin It is worse when sitting down in a soft chair eg sofa as there is less room. I've started sitting on my exercise ball or a dining chair a lot more.

Yay for mat leave countdown MaryEllen. I was really glad to stop last Friday (at 37+4) as it was getting tiring having to concentrate all day Confused Hi five on putting up the nursery furniture. Some of ours is still flat packed...Blush

That's interesting ratty, my periods were all over the shop ever since I came off the pill after 10+ years. They still hadn't really settled into any real rhythm when I got pregnant (which was why it was a bit of a shock at the time, I think that was about 18 months after stopping the pill). I'm looking at getting an implant after the baby comes as it seems like a better option, particularly if planning to breastfeed.

Hi All - booked in for scan on Monday (37 weeks) to see position of baby...midwife couldn't actually tell but think still footling breach...

Ratty & Maisie - I've booked in for a session of acupuncture just in case at 38 weeks...can't do any harm i'm thinking? but loads of movement which is the main thing :)

madsaz76 · 28/01/2016 13:04

My best mate is a trained acupuncturist (and gastroenterologist but that's irrelevant) & she's dying to have a crack at me. I don't believe it works but have never tried acupuncture and am fascinated as to what it feels like so have told her to wait till I am at term and then we play.

HandbagFan · 28/01/2016 13:04

38+5 today. Just been down to the shops to run some errands and it's glorious sunshine down here at the coast. Windy but so sunny - needed my coat to protect against the wind, but ended up feeling like I was sweating in a plastic bag!

I have the midwife this afternoon, a bonus appointment after getting some higher blood pressure readings over the past couple of weeks. Here's hoping the baby's starting to engage - last week he was 1/5 engaged. I've had it in my head the whole way through that he's going to come early. By LMP he was due on Jan 20th, but our dates got moved a couple of times during early scans before settling on 6th Feb at 12 weeks. So mentally if I get to 42 weeks, then it's more like 44! It's a weird limbo period this, knowing it could happen any day but it could also be weeks away!

Newlywed123 · 28/01/2016 14:08

Sweep has been booked in for my due date... I'm not even 100% sure what a sweep is!

Rufus200 · 28/01/2016 14:54

I'm trained in acupuncture. I believe in western acupuncture where the needle is put into a muscle knot and causes it to relax, pain relief, that works. I've had Chinese acupuncture, went for 8 months, decided it made zero difference and I was just wasting my money. Didn't even make me feel relaxed but I don't like needles. Had it for fertility and morning sickness.

MaisieDotes · 28/01/2016 14:55

Limbo is right handbag!

I have booked myself for acupuncture tomorrow morning, might as well give it a shot!

monkerina · 28/01/2016 15:35

I had acupuncture when TTC, to try to sort out ridiculously long cycles and lack of ov- didn't work for me, but it was very relaxing and the lady referred me to a herbal practitioner which did!

Haquoi, I'm hypnobirthing too and now 37 weeks, so starting to feel slightly anxious about refusing inductions etc... hate saying no, too much of a people pleaser! Hoping baby arrives before inductions start getting suggested, but have a feeling he'll be late...

haquoi123 · 28/01/2016 15:49

monk I feel the same. I don't mind confrontation but very often I overdo it and can find it hard to get people in my side. DH hates confrontation so doesn't stand up for himself. Together we make a right pair. However we've agreed in advance that we're refusing any induction, etc until 42 weeks at least unless there's a serious medical worry and it feels good to have that decision made in my mind and his. Harder to keep hold of it now I'm actually waiting and impatient!! Have they mentioned induction to you already?

maisie have fun! I haven't tried acupuncture (except for a shoulder injury and in conjunction with osteopathy), but reflexology allowed my body to relax enough to get pregnant after ds died. It's kept me calm ever since and so I'm trying to book an appointment this week - not to bring the baby on (or so she likes to tell herself), but to relax... (DH is not at all fooled - he keeps refusing sex as he knows I'm not in it for the love but for potential contractions!)

Spent the entire day in bed today after a truly shitty night's sleep. Just got up and washed and feel pretty tired again. I feel so lazy and useless :(

XingXingFox · 28/01/2016 15:53

Good luck posey but hopefully not being able to tell means the baby has turned!

I might have acunpuncture or more likely a massage in week 39. I'm so achy now everything feels like it needs releasing! That was the one thing that happened when I had acunpuncture, I'm not convinced that it turns babies, but it definitely releases tight muscles or aches, which I seem to have loads of as time goes on.

Let us know how you get on those having it!

38 weeks tomorrow! Am so ready for this baby to arrive!

Rufus200 · 28/01/2016 15:55

TMI alert but my body is definitely having a clear out, 3rd time today already!

I've got a small hard red lump right next to my nipple, not part of it. Not sure if it is just a regular spot or a blocked duct? What would a blocked duct look like?

madsaz76 · 28/01/2016 15:56

hacquoi that was me yesterday.

We have to show ourselves a bit of compassion sometimes - we are allowed to be tired and useless at this stage and you must need the rest.

I then got up today and had a flurry of energy and activity. (Steam cleaning laminate floor, dusting, deciding moses basket base not study enough, taking it back and somehow DH managed to buy a £200 table and train set for £50)

You'll be back on it tomorrow.

Wish my DH believed me about sex and labour - he is pestering and my SPD says a clear no (though modest success with seated position leaning on birthing ball th3 other night. ..)

MaisieDotes · 28/01/2016 16:23

haquoi Sad un-mumsnetty ((hug)) to you. You'll be fine tomorrow as mad says.

Funny enough it's my recent success with osteopathy (for the sciatica) that's made me a bit more open minded to alternative therapies. Because that worked, no question. A poster on another thread told me it was a placebo effect, but when it came to lifting 12kg DS up and down the stairs etc I'm inclined to think: no, it just worked, end of!

I did have reflexology before DS but really because I wanted someone to massage my feet but now I'm regretting not doing it again this time Grin

mad you are definitely nesting Grin Grin
So your DH got his way in the end with the birthing ball Wink

rufus I have bumpy areolae (sp???) during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it just comes and goes. Is it sore? I haven't had a blocked duct myself but dsis gets them and they are like a very hard sore area on the breast.

NorthernChinchilla · 28/01/2016 16:33

I was trying to describe how it felt to DP last night when baby was having an attack - and I use that word with feeling - of hiccoughs and they were all coming down my bum mad, and it's hard! Know exactly what you mean with the smear comment.

Just had day in London with my Dad at a museum and on train home. Last day at work tomorrow!

Fingers crossed it's the start of something rufus, and not badly timed gastric flu or similar Confused

By the way, my in laws got acupuncture for their dog (and DFil a GP) and used to swear by it for him, like a puppy afterwards.
