Torfhinn, I'm just going to not worry much either and go with the flow. Pretty certain I don't want a CS so will just see what happens. There's so much that has to happen between now and June (house renovation, professional exams, work stuff) that stressing out over something I can't change just isn't worth the energy!

I loved G&A. Had a jolly happy night feeling fairly pissed... Until I vommed everywhere in the morning.

bikingintherain · 12/02/2016 11:16

Thanks for your thoughts ladies. I definitely agree with not planning too much, but just taking it as it comes. I haven't had a birth plan with either of my other births. It's just good to hear that there may be something in between no pain relief and an epidural. A mental safety net if I can't cope without anything.

But it is still a long way off, so I'm going to put it out of my mind again for a while.

nehagarg · 12/02/2016 11:33

Good to know options but I am going to go with "Fingers in the ears and ignore the vaginal ripping/tummy cutting bits of the birth. La La La La" Grin

(I wish!)

Really looking forward to the baby show for now! Need to start decorating the nursery (which is currently DH's bedroom because between my restless legs and giant preggers pillow, he can't get any sleep)

Could actually cry Sad will need to make do with a BLT instead.

Eastend2015 · 12/02/2016 12:34

On the upside, DH felt bubs bumping around for the first time this morning which is exciting, and I've just spent the morning at an open day for another nursery, a little less evangelical than the last where the kids can actually play with plastic and have sugar occasionally. I met loads of lovely parents who were also looking around- although one frightened me a little by saying she has registered at 7 nurseries, lol!!! I thought 3 was bad!!

strawberrypenguin · 12/02/2016 12:39

That's a lot of nurseries eastend glad you had a good visit. We're just going to sign this one up to the same nursery we use for DS1 although by the time this one goes DS1 will be in school.

Ambergogo · 12/02/2016 12:56

Thanks all for your well wishes. Consultant was really reassuring only one kidney but shouldn't really mean anything. Everything else seems fine. Will scan at 28 and 34 to check the kidney is working and will need a scan when born. Feeling much better.
Also have an anterior placenta as I did with my DS feeling some movement every day now (21+1) but nothing on the outside. DH felt DS at 23 weeks last time so hopefully will have some stronger kicks soon.

Eastend2015 · 12/02/2016 12:59

Oh Amber that's great news, you must be so relieved. Congratulations!!

nehagarg · 12/02/2016 13:57

Amber .. Brilliant news!!! So relieved for you.

Eastend - 7? 3? I havent even started researching yet! Sad

I only looked at nurseries about a month before I wanted to start back at work haha! The one I chose (which I love!) said DS could start immediately.

strawberrypenguin · 12/02/2016 14:12

That's great amber

Eastend2015 · 12/02/2016 15:26

Lol!! Don't panic Nehagarg! It just seems to be the crazy corner of London we live in!

nehagarg · 12/02/2016 15:43

Thats why I am panicking. I live in London too. Haringey.

Do you just get yours off the council website and then go visit the ones you like? I've found about 10 within a mile radius of me and a few of those look good.

OP posts:
Eastend2015 · 12/02/2016 16:05

Well for me, there are only the 3 that I've applied to within a mile that take babies. I just googled nurseries in my postcode. That's probably why the nurseries I've been to are so oversubscribed! If there is 10 in your area you hopefully won't have any problems!

nehagarg · 12/02/2016 16:34

Will take a look. If I might ask, what area in London are you in? And what are the waiting lists for the 3 nurseries like?

I am debating whether to travel another mile to get a better nursery if I dont find anything close by.

Brilliant news Amber you must be so relieved Smile

Oh dear with the grilled cheese Eastend I hope you found something else to eat!

And nurseries... aargh! I'm hoping we don't need to be that organised in Lancashire, seems crazy having to sign up to places before the baby's even born!

Torfhinn I was being kicked in the cervix for about a week, it was so unpleasant! Luckily the baby's been hanging about at the top of my bump for a while now so I get less cervix booting, phew.

I'm skimming over all these posts about actual birth stuff, I'm going to stick my head in the sand for a bit longer with that one Grin

Eastend2015 · 12/02/2016 17:14

We live in Bethnal Green- the one I saw on Monday was tiny with 32 children (12 babies) in total and they were the ones I mentioned a while back with an 18 month list. The one I saw today had about 50 children (20 under 2s) and they were a little more hopeful about having a space in Jan/ Feb when we'll need it. Both of these are rated outstanding by Ofsted so they will be especially popular for that reason too. I'm seeing another one Monday and they are rated good, and haven't mentioned the waiting list being an issue at all. It seems to depend how the nurseries are structured- the both the ones I've seen so far have baby rooms and at today's one, it depends when the children's birthdays are as to when they go to the rooms for the older children. The previous one also had a baby room, but they can't have any more than 32 children in total so places are more dependent on when the children more on to school (or leave for other reasons), which will be September in most cases. Our little one will be too young to join them September but they might be able to be flexible... So not only are they a tiny, very popular nursery but the timing isn't great!!

nehagarg · 12/02/2016 17:19

Thanks Eastend. Thats super helpful. you arent far from where I am. I am in Tottenham Hale.

Mollie London is crazy. Never imagined I'd have to put my boy down before he is even born. Shock

OP posts:
Eastend2015 · 12/02/2016 17:25

Oh yes Mollie and Nehagarg*, LALALALA as far as considering birth!

Also please no-one get freaked out by me visiting nurseries, not only is our area of London a bit crazy but also I am making the most of the last week or so of working my notice before I start my new job when things will be a bit more hectic. Today I have been "working from home" but have answered one email, been to this nursery, burnt some cheese, did a little decorating then fell asleep for an hour in front of the TV with a cuppa and the kitties. Life is good, lol!! I need to enjoy it while it lasts.

Eastend2015 · 12/02/2016 17:27

No problem Nehagarg, fingers x'd your nursery search is easier!

nehagarg · 12/02/2016 17:33

My work from homes are like that Eastend. As long as I am on skype, I am working. Grin

On a separate note: Got told off today for not carrying my yellow book around when I called midwife to book my active birthing class. (Its heavy!)

iamdivergent · 12/02/2016 17:34

First time round I had gas and air which was amazing. Second time round I had no pain relief at all. I just go with the flow tbh.

Eastend2015 · 12/02/2016 17:38

Haha kindof loving being so lazy! I don't carry my notes around either for the same reason. I wasn't thinking of taking them with me until I at least start the last trimester. I have got a pic on my phone of the front though with all the contact numbers and my hospital number if I need it.

iamdivergent · 12/02/2016 17:50

My bump has moved up and is mid belly button height so the bottom of my belly button has pushed slight forward. It makes me feel sick Confused
