My movements are all at the bottom - I'm so anxious that I'll end up with another breech :(

GrubbyWindows · 12/02/2016 18:20

Are we meant to be carrying our notes??? I pack mine if I travel, but that's it!

Re nurseries- childminders are often easier to find for a baby (I'm in east Dulwich, nurseries are mad here too, esp baby rooms), so don't panic if it's not looking good for waiting lists! You can often find great childminders at free stay and plays- you can tell the great ones and just approach and ask, as well as looking on the council list.

Re birth- I had an induction, but it was all over in a few hours, and I didn't end up needing any pain relief. I'm not some super hardcore person either, I was totally up for the drugs, they just never became necessary. So, it's possible to luck out, it needn't be hellish! Of course, this time I'm owed a rough ride, just to even it out...

MollieRos · 12/02/2016 18:35

Mrsmugoo my movements were pretty much all at the bottom for a few weeks, then he's suddenly decided that the top of my bump is the place to be, and has been hanging around there for a while. Don't despair, hopefully yours will move up a bit soon!

Are we really supposed to be carrying notes around?!

mrsmugoo · 12/02/2016 18:41

I've literally never felt movements at the top!

Hoping...

nehagarg · 12/02/2016 18:46

My midwife says we should be in case we need to go to the hospital in an emergency but it just seems so early! I was aiming to carry them around 32 weeks onwards.

Hmm, perhaps I've spoken too soon- he's currently tap dancing on my cervix whilst also poking me on the top of my bump at the same time. Lovely Hmm

nehagarg that's kind of what I'd thought too, but I suppose it makes sense.

emma85x · 12/02/2016 18:55

No movements felt at all here due to anterior placenta. Jealous of those of you who can feel movements!

I'm reading up on hypnobirthing at the moment. Courses are way too expensive but the books and cds are really good! Anyone else tried it?!

Signed up for NCT today! Start on April 13th. Really excited!

laughingGnomette · 12/02/2016 19:02

Errr, there is no way I'm carrying my notes around with me yet! They're huge. I'll take them when I go abroad next month but not day to day stuff.

I'm hoping to go down the childminder route this time... hopefully I'll find someone who'll also be able to pick DS up from school (fingers crossed). I'm in Haringey (Crouch End) and some nurseries are over subscribed but there are plenty that are fine. Remember, if everyone applies to 7 nurseries, the waiting list will be very long but not everyone on the list will take a place there.

mrsmugoo most of my movements are low down too. You've still got loads of time for baby to spin but I can completely understand your worry.

mrsmugoo · 12/02/2016 19:11

I know I've got tonnes of time - but I've been there before and I know that no matter how statistically unlikely a full term breech baby is - someone has to be in the 3%!

Once I get into the 30+ weeks and the position becomes more clear I'll just make my peace if its another breech, there's really no other choice then to do that anyway. It's just the uncertainty :(

Mrspopper · 12/02/2016 19:12

We used a childminder. I felt really happy leaving my baby with her, nice homely feel bad a few other kids. Definitely worth investigating if nursery waiting lists are that crazy!

iamdivergent · 12/02/2016 19:29

I have used childminder and nurseries - i preferred the nursery. My childminder or her own children always seemed to be sick at least once a week! It was a nightmare, I eventually pulled dd2 out

strawberrypenguin · 12/02/2016 19:36

My movements seem to be at the bottom too - although I'm actually quite pleased about that at the moment. DS1 was almost always head down from about half way through and it's been speculated that the pressure on his skull (he was big too) was on of the contributing factors in his Cranio condition although no one really knows what causes it.

Re notes in planning to start carrying mine in a couple of weeks time.

Belvedere · 12/02/2016 19:41

Did you try and have your DS turned mrsmugoo? A friend of mine had her daughter successfully turned although I know the process isn't the nicest.
You've still got loads of time, don't they say in yoga about getting on your hands a knees?

dollydaydream84 · 12/02/2016 19:56

Scan went well today, we are team yellow! Consultant was fab, spent ages answering all my questions, spoke to me like a human being, agreed to a growth scan at 36 weeks and said I could decide at any time to opt for a c-section. Sooo relieved as the midwife had painted it almost as I wouldn't have much of a say in the matter.

Baby was looking all cute, measuring perfectly and is really wriggly. Posterior placenta this time, unlike last time so will experience more kicks no doubt!

Hope all are well x

laughingGnomette · 12/02/2016 20:18

iamdivergent - yes, sickness or having to re-arrange childcare last minute is my worry with CMs.

Fab news dolly!! I'm so pleased they are keeping options open for you.

mrsmugoo · 12/02/2016 20:24

Yeah I had a failed ECV belvedere - wasn't a pleasant experience! He was not for turning!

Belvedere · 12/02/2016 20:40

Oh god poor you, but well done for trying. Not sure I'd have been so brave.

MadrigalElectromotive · 13/02/2016 04:25

Anyone else getting ridiculous pg insomnia? I've been wide awake for the last hour and no sign of sleep yet. So frustrating!

bikingintherain · 13/02/2016 06:40

Yes to the insomnia, I'm awake for a couple of hours most nights, but We'd night I was awake from 12-5am, it was horrible. Fingers crossed I've turned a corner as I've had a good couple of nights sleep since then.

We have had CM, they were amazing (was an older couple who did it together). Couldn't have asked for anything better. My concern with nursery was that the new I looked at seemed to take it turns to have different people in the baby room, and I wanted to have consistency with relationship. It might have just been the ones I looked at though.

Mrspopper · 13/02/2016 08:43

I agree biking. I visit nurseries as part of my job and the baby rooms always make me and my colleagues feel a bit sad, totally irrational I know! If it helps my childminder has never been off sick. There is also a network of childminders here so try help each other out if needed. Totally a personal decision though and you know what feels right for you and your baby.

MollieRos · 13/02/2016 08:59

I visit nurseries as part of my job too and know lots of the local nurseries quite well. Although there are some lovely ones I feel like a childminder would be a better choice for us in terms of being more homey, at least till the baby's a bit older, but I wasn't sure what the situation was if the childminder was ill? With a nursery you know that there will always be staff available.

I had a terrible night last night. I have a cold, and pretty much lay awake all night, then at 5am started throwing up loads. Grim. I've managed to keep down a banana so I'm hoping it's just pregnancy sickness rather than the vomiting bug that's been going round.

mrsmugoo · 13/02/2016 09:28

Another crap sleeper here - I'm always awake in the night did between 1-3 hours and awake for the day at anything between 5-7am depending on how bad the nights been. I average about 6 hours broken sleep at night which isn't far off newborn/night feed territory. But at least it's not going to be such a shock to the system like it was going from full nights sleep the first time!

MadrigalElectromotive · 13/02/2016 09:39

Sorry it isn't just me with the crap sleeping then. I just find it so annoying - I yawn my way through each day, can't wait to get into bed, and then a couple of hours later I'm wide awake!

mrsmugoo · 13/02/2016 09:47

My DS was staying the night at his granny's last night and I was still wide awake for the day at 7 having "stayed up late" til midnight and being awake for an hour from 3-4.

Think I've forgotten what not feeling tired feels like to be honest.

laughingGnomette · 13/02/2016 10:22

Eugh, rubbish night here too. Didn't get to sleep until 4am :(. Lovely DP let me lie in until 10am but then I woke with a horrid dehydration headache. Sorry so many of you are having a rough time too.
