Rhubarb Thank you, I'll have a look now :)

Rosieblossom123 · 26/01/2016 10:58

As you can tell I'm being very proactive today at work Blush

TheMshipIsBack · 26/01/2016 11:37

scared how lovely to hear from you that you're sleeping and feeling ok! Let that feeling of being underprepared give you lots of things to do and help keep you distracted as your work hours cut down.

Rosie haha - productivity? What's that? I'm working from home for the morning as I had a midwife appt this morning and it's been sooo hard to resist the siren call of the sofa.

So, 34w appt was a mixed bag. My usual midwife, which was nice. Baby's heartbeat fine, my blood pressure fine, no protein in urine, but ... measuring 37cm (was 33cm at 31w with same m/w) and being sent for my second growth scan this week. Also sugar in the urine sample. With those markers and my recent energy collapse, midwife gently told me that I might well be in for a GD diagnosis and early induction. She took my bloods for full count and sugar - I'll hear back tomorrow about those results and if they're even borderline I'll be doing the GTT. DH is completely tied up at work this week so I'll have to go to the growth scan on my own.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 26/01/2016 11:39

Just had a little browse of the antenatal Jan thread and the postnatal Jan thread! Postnatal thread more horrifying tbh, reminding me of how shitty the first few weeks can be! Don't get me wrong its amazing having your baby, full of love etc, but the sleepless nights, sore vagina and painful breastfeeding is something I'm really not looking forward to Confused it does get better though!

Rosieblossom123 · 26/01/2016 12:06

TheMship I wish I could work from home to be honest just hate getting dressed in the morning, I love my pjs so much :(

Sorry about your 34week check up hun, I hope you find some reassurance in tomorrow's scan, good luck Flowers

Me624 · 26/01/2016 12:33

Thanks Rosie and Rhubarb, I told my boss this morning that he was making me anxious! He was really apologetic and said that he definitely did not want that and has told me not to worry about any of the organisation side of things and just focus on my presentation. Rosie I've got one more week than you, finishing on the 19th. I can't wait tbh!

I haven't had any of the stabby pains you lot are experiencing, but my bump still seems very high so I don't think he has descended into my pelvis at all yet. I've got my 34 week appointment tomorrow so will see what the midwife says!

scared glad you've been sleeping better, that's really positive.

MShip hope your scan goes well tomorrow.

BeautifulLiar · 26/01/2016 12:59

Sorry to hear that, MShip. Is your scan tomorrow? I've got a growth scan tomorrow too. I'll be going alone - I go to most of them alone but I prefer it. For some reason I hate people seeing me with the consultant, I always get really embarrassed Confused just hate being centre of attention I guess! Ah well, 6 more weeks of it and then no one gives a crap about me and it's all about the baby Wink

Rosie you were right! It's nice driving a bigger/higher up car. I feel like a grown up now Blush

hayleycookie · 26/01/2016 13:55

Ah sucky appointment MShip The important thing to take away is that baby was fine. Fingers crossed you don't have to do the GTT! When is your growth scan? At least they are on top of everything and checking it all out.

Glad you like the new car Beautiful :) Bet you feel like a kid on Christmas don't you?

Good for you telling your boss Me! Hope he gives you an easier time until you leave now!

Got my growth scan later. Baby was head down yesterday (midwife thought) but I'm definitely getting kicks and movements both sides of my belly so I have no idea how he's laying now. Bump is still very high so I don't think he's in position yet. Looking forward to getting an estimate on how he big he is going to be. Is the average weight for 33 weeks (almost 34) about 4lbs?

BeautifulLiar · 26/01/2016 14:02

Haha yes hayley!

I can't believe how many of you have had weight estimates!! I have never been given an estimated weight of this baby or any of my other three Confused

BeautifulLiar · 26/01/2016 14:03

Btw I googled 34 weeks pregnant today and it said baby should be nearly 5lb...

maybebabybee · 26/01/2016 14:08

Sorry to hear that Mship, fx everything is ok.

Gorgeous nursery, Rosie.

Am 34 weeks exactly today, got my 34 week appt on Friday after I finish work for a year....YAY!

Has anyone else started handing over to their maternity cover yet? I'm really worried about mine, she doesn't seem very competent Confused

Rosieblossom123 · 26/01/2016 14:13

Me I'm so glad you spoke to your boss, it was the right thing to do, hope you feel less stressed now Flowers

Beautiful I'm glad you like you new car :) Yeah I remember feeling like I own the roads haha

Hayley Good luck with your scan, I had a growth scan at 33 weeks and baby was 4lb 7oz now I'm 34 +2 I'm guessing she's about 5lb? who knows, probably won't know now until she's here.

Rosieblossom123 · 26/01/2016 14:15

maybe Thank you :) I'm doing my handover and it's stressing me out, the girl seems very slow and she has so much to learn, arghhh I just want my bed Angry

hayleycookie · 26/01/2016 14:17

Thanks Beautiful and Rosie :) If they tell me baby already weighs 7lb THEN I'll start worrying lol At least I have an average to work off now!

Maybe Don't worry about it, you won't be there to pick up the pieces Wink I'm sure she will step up when she knows you aren't there to do it for her. She's probably just making the most of not having to do a lot before you leave.

maybebabybee · 26/01/2016 14:30

I feel really mean tbh but like rosie's girl she seems very slow and is asking me quite weird questions...eg she seems freaked out at the volume of email and asks me how I keep on top of it as she would usually only check her email two or three times a day?!

I was Confused at this as I'm a PA to a very busy senior level person and my entire job is emails and diary management...I don't know what she thought she'd be doing other than emails!!

My boss is lovely but has really high expectations and I worry the new lady is not going to be very happy in the job if this is her attitude.

TriJo · 26/01/2016 14:41

maybe My cover is starting on Feb 8th, but he's a contractor who has worked for us before so he knows our systems pretty well. I have a slightly odd skill combination (full stack Python/Linux / frontend web development with AngularJS) so not the easiest thing to find one person who does all that. He's a smart guy so I'm not worried at all really, we have 3 weeks overlap before I finish up.

RhubarbAndMustard · 26/01/2016 14:43

My company hasn't got anyone in to cover me. There is only 5 of us in this division of our business and I do all the Marketing. I'm handing over to a PA who works 2.5 days a week. So she is having to pick up my job and her own. I've clearly outlined what she isn't going to be able to do, so now I guess it's up to them. I still have 5 and a bit weeks to go before I finish though and am planning to do most of my KIT days. I think they are relying on them!

One thing is for sure, once baby has arrived, work is going to be the last thing on my mind!

Good luck for the growth scans.

Rosieblossom123 · 26/01/2016 15:01

maybe It's so weird reading your posts, it's exactly what's happening here haha so annoying I don't want to tell my boss as I want to give her a chance but again when it came to emails she was very overwhelmed so I explained to her how to manage it and she was like wow that's a lot to do I was thinking really!!! To be honest I'm not stressing myself out too much like Rhubarb said once baby's here work will be the last thing on my mind Grin

maybebabybee · 26/01/2016 15:18

rosie weird!! you're right though, once baby's here the last thing on my mind will be work.

Was just musing about getting to the hospital when in labour...I'm giving birth at UCH in central London and there is no parking (at all, not even paid parking nearby) so am going to have to get a cab. But do I call a cab in the early stages or wait til contractions are 5 mins apart?! Every website I find tells you to wait to go to hospital until contractions are 5-10 mins apart as otherwise they send you home. I'm buggered if I'm paying for a cab all the way there and then all the way back if they won't admit me. But then I don't want to leave it too late and be writhing in agony in the cab!

dobbythedoggy · 26/01/2016 15:19

maybe you've just given me flashbacks of training my maternity cover! She was terriable, we had a massive ammount of handover; 20 plus weeks so she could get to know the nursery systems, paperwork and children. It was a case of her just not fitting and wanting to do everything her way. The stupid thing is we already knew this about her as she was difficult to manage when she worked with our holiday club. My manager and I had long, long chats in the last couple of weeks about how worried I was about leaving my key children with her as she quite frankly couldn't handle normal 2 year old behaviour.

Unfortantly it turns out I was right, she couldn't get the grips with the children at all, ignored most of the paper work and treated the assistants like dirt and left them to do most of her job. The apprentice I'd spent the last two and half years training ended up whistle blowing on her before the end of her third week in charge on her own.

Although I was under no obligation to I ended up spending most of my kit days in the nursery with dd training up one of the assistants to act up as room leader and doing hand over paper work for the oldest children about to move to pre-school. The lady who had been heired for cover ended up storming out and never returning when the manager tried to address the issues the whistle blowing complaint raised.

RhubarbAndMustard · 26/01/2016 15:28

Maybe I was reading something on this the other day - I think it was a thread about not calling an ambulance. Not all cab firms will take a woman in labour so probably best to call in advance and check which (London cabs are probably more used to this though).

I think it makes sense to wait if you can. My labour first started at about 8pm, and I went to bed around 11ish. I didn't sleep but it was like tummy bug cramping to begin with. When it gets to the point when your wanting gas and air (for me this was 3/4am), I'd go in. Remember to take something waterproof to sit on.

vroc81 · 26/01/2016 16:08

Mship hope scan goes ok tomorrow, the GTT isnt that bad and in fact if you do turn out to have got GD at 34 weeks it'll only be 4 weeks of cheese and proteins and off the bread before you get to meet your baby... I've been reading up a bit since my consultants frosties comment and with the exception of a few stray mini eggs have been trying to be better with my meals and snacks, there's a good facebook group if you need to pick their brains but fingers crossed you wont.

My cover is sat on the other side of the office so handover is limited and she knows what she is doing she also knows what she is doing because my job was in fact hers before she went on Mat leave herself and I stole it - but slightly worried that she's very busy already without my workload too, they could probably have done with someone to cover the less management bits of both our jobs to free her up a bit.. oh well they'll be pleased to see me back!

Rosieblossom123 · 26/01/2016 16:44

I've just realised that this thread is nearly finished Shock

hayleycookie · 26/01/2016 17:12

Agreed Mship the gtt isn't bad at all. Nice break and excuse to do chill for 3 hours ;)

Back from my scan! Baby weighs 5lb 14oz at the moment, legs are in 90th centile, head is 95th (33cm) and belly is 97th!! They've booked me in for another growth scan in 2 weeks to make sure his growth doesn't slow again, because he's dropped from 95th to 90th when they average the measurements out. Not sure what to make of it. No one has discussed birth options but I'm worried about getting through it. They all seem confident I'll have him naturally but I have my doubts. Will see what he is in 2 weeks and go from there I suppose?

Scan was awesome though! Could really make him out moving around, opening his hands, and she even pointed out some hair on his head!! I didn't even know that was possible. So at least I get to see him again in a few weeks.

vroc81 · 26/01/2016 17:42

Brilliant scan hayley and welcome to the gigantosaur baby club!! They're not giving me any more scans and are just letting me get on with it - im hoping gravity helps?!!! Although we do have to remember that it is still within average... just at the top end..
