Ooh I was going to ask the same about other bedding that could fit the Snuzpod, Nixxxy, could you post if you find cheap alternatives that fit as can't justify spending the price the made to for bedding already is on top of cost of the thing itself!

nixxxy · 24/01/2016 17:30

Missikat Oh totally, the bedding is gorgeous but v.expensive. We've just un-boxed to check all parts are there and all systems are go! DH almost started putting it together but we're going to hold off until we've got the baby's room empty of all of our s**t. We're about 90% done on that, so next weekend we should have it together. I've just had another google and there are quite a few people that say that crib sheets from asda/mothercare et al fit fine. I want to get some nice jersey bedding but don't think I can stomach £30 + for two fitted sheets and a blanket when I can probably get them elsewhere for under £10.

Got some paint tester pots today for the baby's room too - going for a nice warmish grey "moonlit sky" for the walls and painting the ceiling sky blue then sponging on the clouds!

Next mission is looking into swaddling a bit more and trying to find some muslin swaddles that don't break the bank. I seem to be on one this week when it comes to getting prepared - Only three weeks left at work, yelp!

IndomitabIe · 24/01/2016 18:05

Re Snuzpod sheets: I got a pack of two jersey crib sheets from mothercare which fit perfectly. I suspect I have some old ones somewhere that might also fit.

Rosieblossom123 · 24/01/2016 18:30

We just put the crib up today, Dp kept saying its early but he's only saying that because he's lazy!! 6 weeks left, 34 weeks today o can't believe it Shock

Washed and ironed everything now I want my baby here, getting so impatient!!

Anyone else's BH getting worse, mine have been slightly stronger this evening, I better keep an eye on them!

IndomitabIe · 24/01/2016 18:43

See, 34 weeks doesn't sound that early to me! (Until I remember there's another 6 weeks till due date, but only 3 weeks from being 'term').

I've been lucky with the BHs this time. Last time I had them all afternoon, every afternoon, from 20 weeks. This time I usually get one or two of an evening, about 8/9pm ish. That's it. (So far...)

Having said that, octo-baby here is a bit more 'free floating' than DS was - I don't know if that has a bearing (Beautiful would know if she were around - where is she? Hope everything's ok).

Rosieblossom123 · 24/01/2016 18:50

Indom that's what I said, 6 weeks isn't long at all!! I think he'll start realising soon once I'm on maternity, 3 weeks left!!

I was actually thinking that, Beautiful hasn't been on here for a while??

maybebabybee · 24/01/2016 18:53

I don't think I've had any BH at all - should I worry? Confused. If I have had them, I've not noticed them anyway...

I don't think DP and I will bother putting the cot up yet as it will only be in the way and I think the cats will probably sleep in it.

My last week of work! Was doing handover most of last week so I'm massively behind on my actual work, the woman they've hired to replace me doesn't seem to be particularly proactive...she won't do anything by herself, even tasks which are very simple Confused

IndomitabIe · 24/01/2016 19:00

I just had a stalker moment. Beaut was last on here only 4 or 5 days ago, has been active on mn. Nothing untoward posted. Seems we're I'm just not particularly interesting?! (I have been just brain-dumping in here!)

MyNameIsSuz · 24/01/2016 19:16

Oh god, six weeks does sound like a long time but three weeks to term doesn't! I'm not 34 weeks until Thursday so a bit of breathing space Grin

I went shopping today, checked out changing bags and bought all my toiletries for my hospital bag and a big hoody to wear as a dressing gown and home from hospital. I also got a giant muslin (£10 in Jojo maman, nixxxy) and a zip-up swaddle - I went for the one where they can put their little arms up in the air. My mum thought it was hysterical, I got it out in Costa to have a look at and she couldn't stop laughing at it. Not in a mean way, she thinks it's a good idea, just in a 'that baby will look ridiculous' way. Which is kind of also how I feel!

Saw lots of lovely things in the sale, but we don't need too much more newborn stuff. I was tempted to get a couple of really sweet things in a couple of sizes up, but I learnt with ds that you never really know when they'll go into each size - no point buying a summery romper suit in 3-6 as she'll be 3 months old in June, because she might not fit into it until September. As my boss pointed out before ds was born, the shops will still be open when the baby's here, and I'll probably be glad of something to do then!

I haven't had any BH either maybe, I never did last time either, I think that's lucky as they don't sound super pleasant. And I'm not getting the cot put up yet either , because it'll fit very snugly between my side of the bed and the wall - I'll have to move my bedside table into the living room and put my lamp etc up on the very chunky headboard of our bed, so I want to put this off as long as possible.

BeautifulLiar · 24/01/2016 19:53

Oh NO, I am SO sorry!! Pissing myself here. No one is boring, in fact I've been reading! Just had a SHITE week.

Last weekend DH went out, got drunk, came home (I was asleep), decided to go to the shop in my lovely, perfect, low mileage car, and proceeded to write it off. He was was fine, but as you can imagine it has been a huge frigging ball ache (which I've been making him sort out!).

On the plus side, he possibly couldn't have done it at a better time, as it needed a new cam belt, was due an MOT and service next week and we desperately need a 7 seater for our growing family. So we're at Evans Halshaw to view a car. He knows he was an utter cock and I've been shockingly tolerant!!

Also last Saturday I had a huge coughing fit where I couldn't catch my breath and since then my ribs have been agony. I'm so scared they'll still be hurting when I go into labour /breastfeed :(

Hope everyone's ok xx

BeautifulLiar · 24/01/2016 19:55

Evans Halshaw tomorrow, not now. It's almost bedtime for me!

I've finally had a nesting urge today so the shoe cupboard has been sorted. It looks so much better. Just need a car to get the millions of bags of stuff to the charity shop!!

Rosieblossom123 · 24/01/2016 20:16

I've put the crib in the nursery for now beside the cot so it's definitely not in the way but the cats love it so the nursery door will be shut for a while! Haha

Apparently a lot of people don't get BH but all I can say is it's bloody uncomfortable my belly is hard rock every half an hour and baby keeps poking her bump out at me and it feels my skin is just going to split open!! Ouch!! Sad

Aw bless you Beautiful. What car are you thinking about?

BeautifulLiar · 24/01/2016 20:35

It's a Chevrolet Orlando! Soooo nervous as I've only ever had little hatchbacks. But very excited to have air con! I always have my car really cold so that will be a plus!

Growth/doppler scan on Wednesday too..

IndomitabIe · 24/01/2016 20:56

No! Don't take me personally, Beaut! I'm just aware I totally abuse this place to empty the ramblings of my mind!

Fuck me that is shite. What a dick! He's lucky he didn't hurt anyone else (I'm sure you've been through that already). Get one of those keyless entry cars, have the chip implanted under your skin and hide/bury/smash all spares so he can't get in without you!

Good luck for the scans.

Rosieblossom123 · 24/01/2016 20:59

You'll love it i used to love my big Land Rover sadly I had to sell it as it was cost it me so much money :( you'll get used to it, at the beginning it'll feel weird then you'll be fine :) good luck on Wednesday Flowers

BeautifulLiar · 24/01/2016 21:10

Thanks, Indom. He was VERY lucky that there were no passersby/witnesses etc... what a twat though seriously. I bought that car too as he's only been driving a year. And I've lost half my no claims! AND we've had to replace all the kids' seats. I literally have no idea what was going through his mind. He obviously didn't feel drunk, but must have been Confused I'll feel a lot better when I have a car!!

Aww thanks Rosie :) it gives me hope that you loved your big car!

dobbythedoggy · 24/01/2016 22:30

I see light at the end of the tunnle! Our very lovely landlady and her son have worked their socks off all weekend to get the new plaster painted. The walls still need painting, thanks to the workmen's handprint all over them and plaster at the top but it's a much smaller job that can be left for a while as it will just be pulling everything away from the walls (bottom half is wood), rather than emptying everything out of the room. Will be so nice to get back to some form of normality. Her son is even poping over in his collage lunch hour tomorrow to help dh move the heavier furniture back in. They are about to start lambing but are hoping to come back and finish the job before bump arrives. Dd is delighted as they've promised to bring a baby lamb out to visit her!

Dh has pulled out dd's old cot today, he needs to build it to check we haven't lost any vital parts. Then I can sort out a new mattress and find a storage draw that fits under it, other wise I have no idea where bumps clothes are going to go! The first load of baby clothes is drying in the bathroom, can't believe my giant dd was once that small! With all the blankets, towles and bedding going to have to fit a few extra loads into our normal wash as they've been in storage for so long. Mosses basket and carry cot have all been washed and dried, ready to go with new matresses. 35 weeks on wednesday, so really hope I have enough time to get everything sorted. Only have 4 weeks 2 days if I get booked in for elcs...

Have found a car seat I like the look (and price) of. Hoping that my dad can remove it without wanting to take a screwdriver to it as he nearly did with one of dd's. Joie tilt. Ordered one into our local halfoards so the fit can be checked and my mum and dad can both have a good play with it before we commit to it.

beaut what ashame about your car and idiot dh's for writing it off! My mum and dad have just replaced their car with a 7 seater picaso. My mum was really worried about driving something so big but after a couple of days loved it. If it makes you feel any better my dad had a crap day the end of last year when he hiered a van; reversed into a post causing £200 excess to claim on the insurance, and got snapped by a speed cammera on the motorway doing 10 miles over the limit (the limit, but because he was driving a bigger van than his used to he was meant to be 10 miles under the national limmit) £350 fine and 3 points on his licence.

BeautifulLiar · 25/01/2016 06:46

Aww thank you dobby, I'm more excited now! Apparently once you get used to a bigger car it doesn't feel right sitting in a little one anymore. And I think your dad's bad day would've sent me over the edge!! Glad he didn't do himself any harm though, and it sounds like you have a lovely landlady :)

MyNameIsSuz · 25/01/2016 06:50

Oh god Beautiful that sucks, but great that you're getting your new car!

I might try and start sorting and washing baby stuff today - woohoo! Also ordered my new changing bag, which I'm ridiculously excited about Grin

TheMshipIsBack · 25/01/2016 07:57

dobby Before you have a lamb to visit, do check the NHS advice regarding pregnant women and sheep.

Beautiful Can't believe he drove drunk!

Two more weeks of work < grumble > ...

Me624 · 25/01/2016 08:15

Sorry about your car Beautiful. Hope you get something new you're happy with! Everyone is always asking me when I'm going to get a new one as I drive a very compact 3 door mini! But we really can't afford a new one (or rather we could, but I don't want to splash out that sort of money now when I'm about to take such a massive pay cut on mat leave) so I'm just going to have to make do.

Another night in CSC for me last night. I woke up about 4 times Sad really can't wait to finish work, 4 weeks to go, wish it was less!

MrsElls · 25/01/2016 08:30

Ah we have car trouble as well, dh had to get towed back from Arsenal by RAC yesterday as engine management light came on and he lost all power. Apparently they have done something which means I will be able to drive it the half mile or so to our local garage but they can't fit it in until tomorrow so hoping work will be very accommodating and let me work from home 3 days this week!

BeautifulLiar · 25/01/2016 08:40

Ooh yeh dobby, forgot about the sheep rules! I've not been to any petting farms etc since I got pregnant.

Me you will be fine! I've only had little cars, including 3 doors etc but was fine with 3 DC. I probably wouldn't be rushing to get a bigger car if I wasn't now carless!

Oh no MrsElls, hope you get it sorted. I'm so sacred the new car will be dodgy. I had my old one for four years and no problems with it at all :(

Ahhh crap, we left all the washing up from roast dinner last night and the cleaners have emailed to say they can't come today! Shit...

RhubarbAndMustard · 25/01/2016 08:48

Really sorry to people in the CSC last night...but I had the best nights sleep EVER last night! Am feeling so refreshed. I bought a mattress topper in Matalan (super cheap at £14) and underneath that a folded in half blanket. Its made all the difference to my hip pain and could actually turn over without almost being in tears. Hooray!

Me am sure your car will be fine as long as you can get the pram / pushchair in the boot. My friend struggled with hers but she did have a huge pram.

BeautifulLiar · 25/01/2016 08:55

Oh Rhubarb you'll make us all jealous! The baby has started to make me get up in the night for a wee. But women are amazing. We do all this, time and time again, just to hold our babies in our arms :) 43 days and counting!
