Hi everyone, thread no8 already Shock

Sorry I haven't been on here for a while, we finally finished the nursery and everything is back to normal, taking xmas decoration down today then can start sorting the house back to how it was!!

Beautiful I ordered the buggy today, so excited, it said pre order tho so it's not available until 5th Feb so hopefully she doesn't make an early appearance!

Me I don't I don't think i'm going to mine its a 6 hour session on a saturday and I don't think dp will have the patience, might take my friend instead haha

31 weeks today, 9 weeks to go, getting excited now Grin

Welcome MrsElls Smile

BeautifulLiar · 03/01/2016 12:28

Dark red is a good colour for the inevitable blood bath!

Hayley - I'd much rather be induced, but I'm terrified of that too, especially as I think if I was to be induced it could be any time from 34 weeks so my body might fight it.

I was induced with my first and went very quickly which led to him being distressed and me having an episiotomy/forceps with just a bit of gas and air!! The hospital has changed a lot now though.

BeautifulLiar · 03/01/2016 12:30

Good to see you back Rosie, did you have a good Christmas? I've ordered the pram and it said delivery end of January so hopefully all will be good!! Which colour did you go for?

Rosieblossom123 · 03/01/2016 12:47

Yeah I had a lovely xmas thanks Beautiful how was yours? I went for the go lightly 2 the new design, which one did you go for?

BeautifulLiar · 03/01/2016 13:04

It was nice thank you, I just barely moved off the sofa all day!!

Do you mean the pink, white and black one? If so that's the one I got too! Grin

Rosieblossom123 · 03/01/2016 13:26

Yeah thats the one I got too the one with the pink bow Grin Where did you order it from? I got it from cosatto website because it was the cheapest, the whole lot including the car seat was £423!

BeautifulLiar · 03/01/2016 13:29

I can't remember the name actually, but it was the same price with the 'free' car seat. I ordered the car seat base too. Hope it arrives before baby!

Rosieblossom123 · 03/01/2016 13:32

Oh okay I'm just peed off that it said pre order :( I really hope it comes on time.

Here's my bump a few days ago - sorry about terrible lighting. I'm huge but bump has stayed the same for a couple of weeks so hoping I've peaked bump growth early! Having said that, I had a bath yesterday as a treat (normally cant be arsed/don't have time) as a friend gave me some home made smellies and bath salts for Xmas, and I noticed that I had no trouble getting out of the bath despite my size. I remember getting stuck in the bath when heavily pregnant with DD and having to get DP to get me out, so expect I'm going to get a lot bigger! On another note, the bath salts my friend gave me were Epsom salts and they did wonders for my back. Have had lots of lower back pain/niggles this week and read that epsom salts can be good for muscle pain. Didn't lie in the bath much just had a deep bath that I sat in and soaked, and my back pain was gone - so a recommendation for anyone who's suffering!

Ooh, doc where did you find the Snuzpod on sale?

Need to order ours.

I'm planning on getting my bag(s) packed and in the back of my car today so that I can forget about them (but have them on hand should things kick off at work!)

TriJo · 03/01/2016 13:54

Me FTM here doing NCT - first class isn't until the 27th though! Ours is mostly with April people though, I'm due March 20th.

maybebabybee · 03/01/2016 15:32

Place marking! Hope everyone's well? scared good to see you.

Q I have also bought an asda sale towel for the hospital today. Got lots of other bits for my hospital bag too.

We have just signed up for amazon family so we get prime (next day delivery) and discounts on nappies etc. So far have bought 2 packs of 39 newborn sensitive skin nappies for £8 for both, way cheaper than in the shop. Not sure how many nappies I should be stockpiling as who knows how big baby will get at what speed...any tips?!

DM went to see my cousin who has just had a baby the other day. Came back raving about how cousin is so 'chilled' and a 'natural' and had baked a cake when baby was only 3 days old. Must be very hormonal as I cried my eyes out after speaking to her, I know she meant no harm but I feel like I am going to be utterly useless. I have a bit of a reputation in my family for being over sensitive and uptight because of my anxiety and its hard to shake off what other people think of you.

We start our NCT classes at end of Jan but we'll be moving to a different part of London just after baby is born, so won't be much good for making friends!

Missikat · 03/01/2016 15:45

Happy new year everyone!

Thanks Magpie, Scared and everyone else, we are ok. I can't believe this thread is up to 62 posts before I've even finished reading the last one and got here!

We had a very exiting day yesterday (and very poignant given all the breastfeeding talk on here recently)....Zach actually latched on and sucked!!!! So excited and amazed as we're the nurses as it's pretty rare for a little tiny baby like him (he weighs 1.07kg now which is about 2lb 4 or 5 I think.....Gem can't believe yours is already estimated at 4lbs!) . When I came in to see him yesterday he was really alert and was just about due his tube feed which DH and I have been doing. His nurse said why not try putting him to my breast to see what he'd do, saying most likely he may just give a little luck or a small suck but prob nothing more at this early point...well he only just latched straight on and was sucking away like a trooper! It was funny as one of my boobs is about 3x the size of his head (currently 32j!). The nurse couldn't believe it, she had to get the other nurse in the bay to come look! I'm so pleased as hoping it's a really good sign for our future breastfeeding relationship which I am determined to have. DS1 was the same, as soon as he first latched on the midwife said 'you won't have any problems at all feeding that one!' And I didn't. Sounds just like your DD Dobby, he just knew what to do and I never had any pain (just one tiny crack in first couple of days as my nipple hardened up!). I know that's unusual but it does happen (altho more of my friends who subsequently went on to breastfeed long term had a difficult and painful first few weeks, I know I was one of the lucky ones.

I fed DS1 til 19 months and only stopped as conceiving again was taking a while. Even now if he sees my naked boobs in the morning he will attempt to get some and I've not fed him since feb 2015! This has intensified since he sees me pumping and knows the milk is going to 'baby Zach my little bubba' as he calls him, so sweet.

Zach is doing well altho just having another round of tests as another suspected infection. He is having 3 hours off any kind of breathing support twice a day and handling it well but has shown some signs in last 24 hours that he may have another infection brewing, fingers crossed he hasn't.

Hope everyone else is well xxx

BeautifulLiar · 03/01/2016 15:45

Maybe - I felt absolutely on top of the world after having my last baby. I attempted to just carry on as if I'd scraped my knee or something. DH told me to calm down and the midwife warned me I'd end up having a haemorrhage. I ignored them both; even went shopping a few hours after the birth. Oh and attempted to make pink mashed potato for my other daughter Blush don't ask!

Well within weeks I was an anxious, stressed out mess. I really want to take it easy this time!

Me624 · 03/01/2016 15:56

I'm due on March 4th and my nct class is for end of Feb - early April due dates, so quite a range really but I may be one of the first. On the other hand baby me may decide to be late! I really hope I meet some nice mums, DH is very sceptical about the whole thing but I think it's more important for us mums to have other mum friends. If I don't gel with anyone though then I do at least have other good friends who have babies too.

Missi what great news about Zach. Also nice to see several posters saying they didn't struggle with bfing! I hope I'll be one of the lucky ones.

scaredmum2be · 03/01/2016 16:17

Welcome mrsells.

This is my bump at 29+1.
I don't feel huge but I'm a FTM and not sure if I am big or small, some people tell me I am big, some say I am small.

Also a couple photos from our scan yesterday, baby didn't really play ball for longer than a minute but we got a few shots, also saw them open them mouth and yawn was nice.

Back to work tomorrow after a break since 21st December. Dreading the 6:30 start :(. Last night was ok but I kept waking up every hour and between 4-5 I was awake knitting a blanket for baby in bed as I couldn't sleep. Fell back asleep until 9am but I saw every hour between. Remained calm though instead of breaking down and crying which is a big step for me.
I know that me panicking about tonight won't make it any better though. Just really scared I won't sleep and I'll be shattered for work.
Thanks for the advice on the clothing size.

Beaut- I hope things don't get any worse for you. I heard waters can re generate to.
Missi- good 2 hear from you. Great news about the feeding and fingers crossed he does not have an infection.

Re the nct classes we are not doing them but we have signed up for some free parent ed classes this month. Not sure what to expect from them though. Mostly going to meet new people

I've just ordered my cot!!! Those of you who were thinking of getting a spacesaver cot, the Saplings one is on offer at Homebase until tomorrow - £65 with mattress included, a bargain!

BeautifulLiar · 03/01/2016 19:49

Lovely pictures scared.

Suz that's such a bargain! I don't think I'm going to get a cot for a few months though. Not really sure why. I guess it'll just take up room in the girl's bedroom!

MyNameIsSuz · 03/01/2016 20:09

I know Beautiful, I just couldn't turn down a bargain! No idea where we're going to stash it, even flatpacked it'll be really in the way. Maybe I'll put it behind the living room door...

MrsElls · 03/01/2016 20:50

Hope you all enjoy your nct classes, my dh was sceptical at first but the fathers from the group are always planning nights out where they can talk about kids without boring their usual friends now! 2 years in and the girls are some of my best friends, its amazing how much you bond over whatsap during night feeds!

MyNameIsSuz · 03/01/2016 21:04

I'm the same with my group MrsElls, 3 years on we're still all good friends - money well spent as it was just what I needed. It was a bit stilted at first and we didn't really bond properly until we were on maternity leave, so don't panic if you don't immediately click!

MrsBenWyatt · 03/01/2016 21:52

A new thread again - can't keep up!

Came to commiserate with all teachers back at work tomorrow. Setting my alarm has broken my heart! 6 weeks to go until ML starts and I cannot wait!

I am very happy to have ordered a new pram (we used the same Bugaboo Cameleon for DD and DS) and a few other bits, so I am feeling a bit more organised.

My appointments are ramping up now. Scan and consultant next week (at 32 weeks), MW the week after, then another scan and then pre-op in the first week of Feb. All seeming a bit more real.

RE: BF. Found it tricky to start off with DD (lots of feeds in tears and curling toes) but DS latched on straight away and had gained weight before we left the hospital Grin. Hoping for the same with this one! Fed for over a year with both, but luckily I breed late teethers (but ridiculously early walkers) so I never had teeth to contend with!

IndomitabIe · 03/01/2016 22:09

Excellent news Missi! Hope he's not developing another infection though.

You're sounding more upbeat, scared. Well done on keeping it together overnight. Love your bump pic & scan pics!

Thanks for the commiserations MrsBen. I got up early to mark this morning, hoping I've reset my body clock a bit too. Been doing reports this evening and the bloody 'system' swallowed the last 5 THREE times! I have a feeling those 5 are now a little more concise than the previous ones. .

So now, instead of doing more marking, I've made the executive decision to go to bed.

Before I do I need to moan (well, about pregnancy!) - my bump has been so sore this evening! Feeling all heavy and stretched, I started getting back ache too. But now I've just sat down and reclined a bit, Octo-baby's woken up and done his octopus thing and seems to have pinged off the front of my belly and disappeared somewhere in the depths. He's still wriggling, but all of a sudden the pressure on the front has gone. He must've just been really awkwardly positioned against the front wall or something. Weird.

Thanks for that! 'See' you at some heinous time tomorrow morning! Brew

Missikat · 03/01/2016 23:49

Welcome Mrsells!

I'd missed all the lovely bump pics, you are all looking good ladies. Beaut and Q your bumps look very small and neat, Marmite, yours looks amazing...I have bump envy!

I'm also thinking about getting a Snuzpod for when Zach comes home..Doc was it the mothercare sale price (£179.99?) or something better?

Indom I did see it on some random site called Cukooland (or something like that) for the same price, plus £5 off for first order and a 10% discount code I found (also if ordered through Topcashback then another 6% back)....think that works out at about £150 ish, maybe I should just do it? It does look fab and I think I'm going to be so much more anxious when I bring him home than I was with DS1 that a cosleeper will be a necessity!

Just bought some clothes today in tiny baby (up to 5lb) and new baby (up to 7.5lb) in Mothercare sale for Zach later on. At least I don't have the worry of will he be too big for them! The only stuff ive bought so far have been sleep suits in up to 3lb size from George at Asda which are ridiculously tiny...and they still swamp him!

Missikat · 03/01/2016 23:53

Here are some pics from 2 days ago, he's starting to fill out a bit now. Excuse crappy phone camera quality on first two. I take most pics of him on my SLR but then if I'm posting on my phone can't upload them!
