marmite I'm RBH too and also a bit concerned about closures. there was an article in the local paper about it recently, I didn't realise it was as bad as 3 times in the last month though!! I am not overly fussed if I end up at a different hospital although it's not ideal of course, but it concerns me as well that the level of care may not be great if they are so stretched Confused

BeautifulLiar · 13/01/2016 13:37

Indomitable I loved your midnight pack up!! that was you right?

I had my scan, and it turns out my baby is a bit of a medical anomaly :) the growth is good and the Dopplers were normal again. The consultant was confused, but happy. So I'm now down to two weekly scans, and unless anything goes wrong in the meantime, because of the manky placenta I'll be induced on my due date :) 55 days to go!

maybebabybee · 13/01/2016 13:49

great news beaut :)

Rosieblossom123 · 13/01/2016 14:09

Yay Beautiful that's great news :)

Me and Marmite I'm not far from you two, I'm giving birth at NHH only 40 mins away!!

Me624 · 13/01/2016 14:56

Ha Rosie I was in Basingstoke last weekend! Who knows I may be joining you if RBH closes its doors!

ffauxlivia · 13/01/2016 15:01

Wonderful news beaut what a little star you have, proving everyone wrong!

How is everyone doing with their pelvic floor exercises?! My friend told me to do them twice a day every day, she did that from the first trimester and said she was the only one in her group of friends who didn't have incontinence after the birth! However I don't even remember to do them once per week Shock Hope it's not too late to start more earnestly now ....

dobby bump calendar that's so cute!

marmite that sounds a bit stressful. Hope your DD's hearing does get better Flowers

neh those pics are amazing! What a gorgeous bub

mrsben good luck today, scared how did it go yesterday?

crispy I would love a little Easter baby, fingers crossed for us :)

Rosieblossom123 · 13/01/2016 15:08

Me haha see we're not that far from each other!! :) that's true who knows I'll keep an eye out on MN if you decide to go there!! haha

ffaux I haven't done any I feel so bad Blush

ffauxlivia · 13/01/2016 15:14

rosie I'm hoping people come on to tell us they didn't do any in previous births and everything turned out okay! Not sure if my friend was just lucky or they do really make a difference?

Rosieblossom123 · 13/01/2016 15:36

ffaux Yes please haha I just don't have any energy, the only exercise I do is walk from my car to work which is 2 seconds away Blush

hayleycookie · 13/01/2016 15:42

Hadn't even considered closures but just had a look on the website....

Closed 29 times in the last 12 months for 4-8 hours due to capacity and staffing

That's around 2.5 times a month.... slightly concerned now as it's 45 mins from us, and the other closest hospital is an hour in the opposite direction. If they turned us away from our chosen hospital it would take almost 2 hours to get to the other one!

Found myself debating births the last few days. Looking forward to my consultant appt Friday to hopefully discuss my concerns and get things planned. Atm I'm leaning towards a natural birth, but asking to be induced at 40 so I don't go over again also been looking into elcs. Pretty sure the problems I had last time were because I was so far overdue. Still all depends on the placenta, baby size, and everything else the scan should hopefully clear up when I finally get a date for it!

Hope everything went ok today MrsBen.

Excellent news Beaut! Couldn't have asked for better news!

Paperblank · 13/01/2016 15:42

Oh shit...I knew that there was something I needed to do!!!

Excellent news Beaut!!!

Me624 · 13/01/2016 16:19

I haven't been doing any pelvic floor exercises Hmm I do Pilates regularly every week so that sort of counts - a lot of the exercises work the pelvic floor muscles! It must have been doing something for me because the midwife complimented my stomach muscles at my last appointment and I didn't used to have any at all before I started Pilates (been going 18 months!)

MyNameIsSuz · 13/01/2016 17:18

Oh god I'm terrible at doing my pelvic floors, I'm not even sure I can do them properly! I'm trying to do better this time but failing miserably.

Just decided with the childminder on ds' last day with her. It's going to be a sad day, he's been with her four days a week since he was 13 months old! I was thinking I'd keep him until the end of March, as if I go two weeks overdue it'll be the 24th. But since that's Easter week and no school etc, she thought the 22nd would be a good day to finish. Does anyone else have a dc with a childminder? Wondering what I should get as a leaving gift...

Crispylicious · 13/01/2016 17:44

I didn't do any pelvic floor exercises until after the baby was born and don't recall any incontinence! I do remember not being able to tell if I needed to wee or not for a few weeks though Hmm

suz DD is with a childminder 4 days a week at the mo. When I start mat leave, she'll drop down to 3 days and then do 2 short days a week there, once the baby has arrived. I though it'd be good to keep some of her routine the same and it was a total PITA settling her in there, so don't want to have to start again. Also thought I'd give me a bit of a break and mean I can go to a baby class, sans toddler, and spend some quality time with him. Just hope we can make the finances work...

One thing I have found it is that if you're in a work childcare voucher scheme, once you're on stat/no pay, they still give you the vouchers for free! Free childcare wohoo!

beaut so pleased all ok with mini B. That's fab news.

MyNameIsSuz · 13/01/2016 17:57

I don't think I get my vouchers for free crispy! Once I drop down to statutory they stop going in. But since we won't be paying for childcare from March and I'll be paid until July, it will build up a cushion to pay for the new one when I'm back at work. Ds was 3 in September so has just started his 15 hours of free preschool, so I'll have mornings with the baby to do groups or go for a quiet shop or whatever. I'm sad he'll have to leave the childminder but we just can't justify the cost, and actually it'll mean that while I'm being paid we're better off for a while.

TheMshipIsBack · 13/01/2016 18:40

suz Once you're off enhanced mat pay, the vouchers should keep coming and not be taken off your stat pay, and should continue once you are on no pay. Your employer needs to look at the info here and here, and get their act together!

MyNameIsSuz · 13/01/2016 18:54

Ooh thanks guys, I'll look into it! It's a huge company, thousands of employees, so I can't imagine they wouldn't know. But our hr people are pretty useless.

MrsBenWyatt · 13/01/2016 20:00

Well, today was not successful. Went to DAU for steroids and my BP and pulse were sky-high so I was blue lighted Sad to hospital. I am now waiting to see if I can go home. They think it might be a reaction to the steroids.

IndomitabIe · 13/01/2016 20:25

Wow, beautiful pics neh!

Nah, that first rule is wrong, Crispy! Surely this is the place to moan about the horrors (and gush about the wonders) of pregnancy so that we don't inflict it on unsuspecting real life people!

Oof, that is monster commute.

gem that's quite a physical job though isn't it? It must be difficult working with family, though. Hope you can optimise your leave without ructions!

Yeah that was me, Beaut! Haven't had to bust it out yet, but I'm expecting it! I think it continued well after birth too, what with all the BFing!

That's fantastic news Beaut! Well done! Fingers crossed its all good from here on in!

I didn't particularly do any pelvic floor exercises last time, and I had a 3rd degree tear, but had no incontinence! I was younger then though!

We still use a cm Suz, but though he'll have a break, he'll be back with her after school from September, and she'll have this one too! (She's AMAZING, I'm not ready to give up my evening therapy/chats with her!)

What? crispy? That voucher thing can't be true? (Ah, bum, I'm back to work before then).

Oh no MrsBen, sounds terrifying. Hope it is just a temporary reaction.

neh205 · 13/01/2016 20:27

Thanks all re 3d pics. I'm pleased as punch with them. Will def end up being one of those mums who proudly shows off baby pics at any opportunity!

rosie do post your 3d pic too!

crispy the commute is getting to be a drag now. I'm on London midland and then northern line, how about you?

I've noticed that women are much more likely to give up a seat on the tube than men. I haven't turfed anyone out of a seat just yet buy prepared to in the coming weeks!

Was feeling emotional re child birth yesterday but today I'm just so excited about meeting the baby!

RhubarbAndMustard · 13/01/2016 20:28

Just to second what Crispy and Mship said, my employer will continue to provide my childcare vouchers without it coming out of my SMP. I double and triple checked with them! So DS will be staying in nursery for his free hours plus a bit extra paid for by the vouchers. It will be less than the 4 full days he does now though and I think I can 'bank' any unused vouchers.

MrsBen that sounds scary. Hopefully you can come home soon and all is ok.

neh205 · 13/01/2016 20:35

beaut fantastic news!

mrsben how are things going? Let's hope you can leave soon.

I've started doing yoga on sat morning but I really don't get the whole pelvic floor exercise deal. Anyone have tips?

gemsparkle84 · 13/01/2016 21:20

Oh no mrsben I hope you're ok... Are you at home?

I'm actually thinking of starting my leave soon... I was trying to be brave and hold out but the idea of taking it early has planted a seed and my bottom/ pelvis can not take much more. Eeeeek

MyNameIsSuz · 13/01/2016 21:20

Oh my god MrsBen, how scary! How are you now?

Tmi warning ladies, but I got to tell someone. So my guts have been all wrong for the past week, constipation all day followed by sudden need to go and the runs at a moment's notice. Have just been, and I'm obviously not digesting food properly at all - when I wiped there was a whole huge intact piece of rocket! What is going on??? What's the point in eating extra veg (to counter the huge amounts of crap) if my body's just going to chuck it straight out???
