Best Christmas present ever - September 2016

Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!!

Minimising gain I understand, but she was actively suggesting I lost weight over the pregnancy! Even maintaining the same weight over the pregnancy would technically be losing weight for me as baby, placenta, fluid, blood etc would amount to a fair bit!
Funnily enough the scales at the midwife put my 3.5kg heavier than my home ones and on my home scales I would just scrap under a bmi of 30. Not sure if the home ones are wrong, but they seem right when I've weighed the kids on them (compared to the HV clinic measurements).
I'm back tracking everything I eat on the myfitnesspal app!

Just found out a few days ago that I'm pregnant with number 2. Think due 22/9 according to my calculations which is nice cz that's DH birthday! My first baby is 9 months old so that will be a gap of 17 months! Crazy huh?! It was planned in a 'we'll see what happens' kind of way but wasn't expecting it to be so soon espec as still breastfeeding number one! Am feeling well except today have started feeling sick which is not what I want with a crawling baby getting into everything he shouldn't be! I haven't had chance yet to read back over everyone's posts so apologies if I miss something important but hoping everyone's ok. xx

Annarose my DD is fascinated by babies but looks very cross if I cuddle one! She has just started walking in the last few weeks - a bit late but she is a bum shuffler.

Genome minimising gain seems sensible. I found eating well difficult in the first trimester last time as was v sick - not much fruit / veg but not much of anything else either.

Hi Sprouting. That is a small age gap! You are very brave. How many children have you got?

How can they keep doing your bmi? Soon it won't just be yours but yours and baby's. Minimising gain yes but actively dieting has got to be a no no surely.

We don't have any options for birth centres here so I'll have to go to the hospital - although DD was induced at 42 weeks so I'm not expecting this one to come easily and after my last birth there is no way they will let me have a home birth (and tbh I don't think I want one)

Moonrise- I am a little anxious about the small age gap! Now it's a reality it seems scary! Is anyone else on here having a small age gap too?! Please say it's not just me!!

Genome- I agree that minimising gain is sensible and it seems wierd that they calculate your bmi when pregnant even though it's not technically your bmi!! But I do remember from last time that for the birthing centre in our area, you had to be under 35. I'm slightly overweight to start with and would love to be one of these people who only gains like 7lbs the whole pregnancy but if I was anything like last time then I know that won't be the case! Although, hope I'm not as bad as my friend who gained something like 4 stone and the baby came out at 5lbs!

Sprouting my age gap will be 16months

I seem to have lost track of how many weeks I am!

I'm due 17th Sept. Does that mean I'm heading into Wk 6 or Wk 7???

Hello all.
Hope you are having a good weekend.
Just come back from a bike ride with DH and DS, nothing extreme, but have had a small show of pinkish blood. Am kind of numb as I feel I have no idea what my body is doing. Am almost too scared to go to bathroom again.
Fortunately have early scan tomorrow - but I am now sick with worry.

Anna Using LMP my edd is 15th Sep and I am 6 weeks and 3 days today according to the pregnancy+ app so you'd be 6+1. I think I'd lose track if the app didnt tell me when I opened it!

sprouting I have 18 months between dd1 and 2. They get on well mostly and we don't seem to have any jealousy between them. There will be 27 months between dd2 and this little bean if all goes well. So I will have 3 under 4

Genome that's good to know there's no jealousy and they get on. Think it'll be lovely they'll be close together in age but under no illusions that Itll be hard work.

Hi all, not been on for a few days. Only 5+2 so still mainly feeling tired. However wanted to ask a tmi question. Is anyone feeling dry or sore down below? I'm worried it's the beginning of thrush which I've never had.

What apps does everyone have? Which are good? Didn't even think such a thing existed but might download one if its worth it.

I have one called Pregnancy+, I only have room for one this time can't bring myself to delete 1800 photos of my PFB so of all the ones I had first time that was the one I downloaded again

I have the BabyCentre app - had it in my last pregnancy and was quite good. BabyCentre has zillions of articles on anything pregnancy related. Also has a v active forum although nowhere near as good as Mumsnet. The app links you to your birth board where you can read all the high drama and arguments that often arises - good entertainment value.

I'm nearly 6 weeks now and so far just feeling tired and occasionally dizzy if I stand up too fast. I'm a regular runner and went for a run today and was shocked at how much slower I was than normal. My legs felt like lead and I was about 4 minutes slower than the last time I had done that route!!

That's - I have days where I feel different downstairs. Sometimes what you describe. Normally only lasts a day. When it happens I try and up my water intake in case it's linked with dehydration. I wouldn't worry too much unless it's a persistent feeling that lasts longer then 2 days and then maybe head to the GP to get checked out! Lots of hormonal changes going on!

Anyone else looking and feeling 6 months pregnant? I feel massive. This is my second pregnancy so I'm not sure if it is because of that but I could cry I feel so huge

Good idea about upping my water. At work I have a bottle filled all the time but I'm rubbish at home. Thanks :)

Yes rachy! I'm hoping its bloat that will go away but seriously massive. I even had a minor meltdown that I may be much much further down the line than I thought but that's totally impossible. Very light symptoms so have ruled twins out in my head too. Only time will tell. This is my first so feeling quite overwhelmed at times.
