Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant Smile 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!! Grin

My friend at work (the one who knows) said, awww can I touch your belly? I said, well if you want to touch my bowel, then fill your boots! Wink

chillthefXXkout · 22/01/2016 15:33

That's hilarious Frazzle, I need to remember that! My stomach is out of control, I hope this is just a 'bloating phase'.

I've just called my GP surgery to find out if they'd recieved my three emails to ask to be registered for antenatal. They said they will have faxed my details off to hospital. Be nice to know they'd acknowledged my bloody emails though, eh! There's me thinking I had the wrong email address or something. All I needed was a response to say that it was being sorted for me. Shoddy customer service Wink

I'm off to pick the boys up in a minute. I hope this Suede gig thing isn't on for too long, I doubt they have a loo in there....

Oh and I've decided to tell my sister the news when I see her. Could be ages before I see her next and want to tell her face to face. She says she thinks she knows what it is I'm going to tell her, but I think she thinks it our impending house move.

Shit, Ijust realised today that in 9 months I need to sort a divorce, a house, and have a baby.... Funtimes.

DrWhy · 22/01/2016 15:48

Bailey
I'm practically your pregnancy double! My DH is determined that we also have a little alien :-) ours is due on the 12th and I'm also finding it phenomenally difficult to keep quiet too! I've so far only told one very good friend who has had two children recently here so has been through the system. DH is away for weeks 12 to 20 so she's offered to come to appointments with me if I want support. Haven't told any family yet.
Also determined not to tell work as I've only been in the new role 3 weeks so I want them thinking I'm doing a good job and worth waiting for to come back after maternity!
I sort of really want to tell my family but I really don't want 8 months of their fussing - plus my parents really always wanted me to have a high flying career not a family so I think they might be a bit gutted!

How are you feeling at the moment - I'm starting to stress that I don't feel at all pregnant, although I guess I should be grateful that I'm not sick. My only symptom is utter exhaustion - fighting to keep my eyes open at my desk today!

My first appointment is in just over a week when I'll be 8 week, will probably tell mum just before so I can get any relevant medical history from her. Hoping for a scan just before DH goes away at 12 weeks but might have to pay privately if they can't do that.

ohanami · 22/01/2016 17:10

With you on the fussing drwhy - mil is due to spend the weekend with just me and dd when I'll be about 13 weeks, and I'm thinking of delaying any announcements until after she's gone home because she's the fussiest fusser on the planet. I just want a little hug, a very low key congratulations and then get back to business.

I'm already looking about 4 months gone. There's a definite bump there this week (I'm telling myself it's not just a food baby but the only thing I've eaten for days is carbs so I think I'm kidding myself).

Dh isn't coming to my booking in appt but I've got to take 2yo dd. I'm regretting that decision now. She's, erm, lively. He came to what turned out to be my last mw appt in the end, but he was a bit underwhelmed. We're going to have extra scans later on but I don't think he'll come to all of them.

Feeling very glad it's the weekend. Anyone up to anything exciting?

genome · 22/01/2016 18:08

I had my booking in appointment yesterday. I also had a student in too, but she took a backseat as she was only a first year. She did my blood pressure and bloods though (no bruise, I was impressed!). I've been given a lecture on my bmi, 31, and I'm on the 'care pathway for 🐋's' Shock So now I'm paranoid about every calorie and feel like throwing up constantly because I don't dare eat anything.

MillieMoodle · 22/01/2016 18:59

Had my booking in appointment today, it lasted about an hour and she went through a lot - pretty similar to kitkat from the sound of it. Got a Bounty envelope with pregnancy notes, Emma's diary, some info leaflets about screening, emotional changes in pregnancy, a free iron supplement and a free packet of pregnacare. She took blood as well. Lots of blood. Next appointment with her will be at 16 weeks, so around 22nd March. Scan is already booked for 17th Feb.

We also discussed DS's birth; the birth itself was fine but I had a pph and then was re-admitted to hospital with sepsis when DS was 2 weeks old. She is going to read through my notes from then and maybe refer me to a consultant. Also being referred to a traumatic birth team who will discuss the finer points of DS's birth and will apparently help me to understand how we can do our best to avoid the same issues this time round. Birth will definitely be in hospital, no choices there!

As for edd, based on lmp edd is 29 Aug and I'm 8+4 today but I think it will be nearer 05 Sept as I had quite long and irregular cycles after coming off the pill. All will hopefully be revealed at the scan.

Fifi - can you call the docs and ask them if you have everything you should have? I'm sure you're meant to have pregnancy notes that you're meant to carry everywhere with you in case of emergency. My notes have all the emergency contact details on them. They are bright green as well!

GothGoneGrey · 22/01/2016 19:44

Going back to gigs, I went to see the Flaming Lips when I was 6 months pregnant with dc1. It was all-standing and I had to get across London as well. I was tired by the end but it was fine standing all that time (and dancing about). I had a very straightforward pregnancy, though.

Notes here are yellow, unless they've change in the 2 years since I had dc2. I'll find out in a few weeks at booking in.

rachywhite83 · 22/01/2016 19:49

I feel MASSIVE. I had to dig out maternity jeans this week ! Oh well it will hopefully all go down soon x

Fifi10 · 22/01/2016 20:23

millie My DM is now on the case!

She bumped into the old community mw (who DM used to work with) in the gym this eve who did not rate the person I saw- think the actual words were "she don't do much, avoid that one", DM wouldn't tell me the rest though.... DM is now getting me switched to a different mw anyhow

JayBeanie · 22/01/2016 20:35

With all this talk of booking appointments I'm feeling left behind!! I called the doctor today and they said just to go straight ahead and phone the midwife, no doctor app required. From last time I know my booking app won't be until 10 weeks (I didn't make it that far last time) so that's ages away!! I have booked in for a flu jab on Monday though Smile

MargaretCabbage · 22/01/2016 20:40

Booking in appointment was fine. The midwife was lovely, but she said I can see the midwife from when I had DS for the rest of my pregnancy if I like so will do next time; she was wonderful and I will love her forever for the magic sweep she did that got things going last time! She predicted the sex and temperament of DS the first time she heard the heartbeat and I thought she was just a bit mad but it turns out she was 100% correct.

Going to have to see the consultant because I had a third degree tear, but I have no other risk factors so hopefully I can go back to midwife led care after that.

Also have a BMI of 28. Blush I've always had a healthy weight but this year I've just piled on the pounds. I'm being referred to a healthy pregnancy worker so I'm hoping that will motivate me to stop eating EVERYTHING.

I won't be signing up for Bounty or Emma's Diary, I didn't last time, the amount of spam you get is not worth it for a towel and tiny pot of Sudocrem.

Mrsmumb · 22/01/2016 21:00

Congratulations to all the newcomers! 'fifi sorry your mw appointment was so underwhelming, you really look forward to becoming all official. I've been at the Dr's today i gave up hoping my sinuses would clear themselves and gained the unwelcome addition of conjunctivitis so am on antibiotics, i also have my gynaey appointment on the 5th 2 days after my booking in. I would have preferred it the other way round so i was more informed with regards to the lump when meeting mw but hey ho.
I asked the GP if my body had just given up on me to concentrate on bigger things (I'm a usually fit and healthy 27 year old) and he was in on the joke replying "yeah sinuses lumps and conjunctivitis are symptoms of pregnancy you should add that to an internet forum" Grin
He said i may have be under a consultant, my local services won midwife services of the year 2015, and although i experienced one very dozey mw and had a reasonably traumatic birth I must say i think they're fab and really hoped to be able to be on the mw led unit.
It's so hard to spot symptoms when generally so unwell.

MoonriseKingdom · 22/01/2016 21:37

Cautiously excited to be pregnant here!

I have a DD born September 2014 so will be 2 when this one is due. Am a bit worried she won't be impressed initially to be a big sister.

Due date 28/9 but guessing it might be brought forward at the scan.

Very minor symptoms so far but nervous as had really bad nausea last time. I didn't vomit very often but the nausea was overwhelming. I couldn't eat and I was retching with water so ended up on cyclizine.

DrWhy oh so it's not just my DH that comes up with weird names then?! Haha I've got the ovia pregnancy app too which reckons our baby is about the size of a blueberry right now, I feel like the size of a fuc*ing house never mind a measly blueberry!
We're going to have to tell my parents and DH's parents when we're about 10/11 weeks as we're going on holiday right as I will turn 12 weeks, and stopping with family so I'll have to explain why I can't drink and why I'll look like a beached whale
Funny story from me with my booking in appointment, I rang the MW on mon as this is my first so I don't know when you do stuff etc, I said when my LMP was and I thought I was 5+5, she said I was 10 weeks exactly so had to come in on thurs (yesterday). Went in and saw a different midwife who said no you're 6+1 (like I thought) and we'll have to re-book you got when you're 8 coz we can't do anything now it's too early. I was rather upset! So now I have another couple of weeks to wait in suspense! The two week wait all over again......

icklekid · 22/01/2016 22:01

So I fell all the way down the stairs have bruised my face elbows and knees. I'm pretty confident didn't bumb my stomach - I don't need to worry do I? Urgh didn't even think about pregnancy until dh asked if we need to get someone to check me over. ..ds had just gone to sleep so I said of course not but now I'm worrying ...

Newtothevillage · 22/01/2016 22:12

Oh Ickle that sounds horrid, do you feel ok? Poor you

Sausage2229 · 22/01/2016 22:14

I would get checked out ickle. You never know, you could get a cheeky scan out of it! Make it worth your while! Wink In all seriousness though I hope your ok xx

wineandcheeseplease · 23/01/2016 08:20

I had my booking in last night. Midwife was nice and she was at my house for 2 hours chatting! Took blood pressure, checked urine, gave me info and booked me in for my 12 week scan.

One to one midwifes for those asking is a free service which offers more personal care. You have one midwive throughout the whole pregnancy which I liked the sound of. They can come to your house and do evenings and weekend scans and appointments. My 12 week scan is in the evening at 7pm for example, and it's in town so I don't have to struggle to park at our local hospital

Lilliana · 23/01/2016 08:46

ickle is your blood type positive or negative? If negative definitely get checked out. If positive I probably would anyway. Hope you're ok.

Lilliana · 23/01/2016 08:48

Had horrible stabby pains last night. DH planned breakfast in bed for me, him and DD this morning - lovely thought but I took one bite and threw up!! It was a bit reassuring though.

Butterflies100 · 23/01/2016 09:17

Morning all.

Had a slightly worrying few days- all of my sick/nausea symptoms seem to have gone. Breasts still sore and still tired with lots of trips to the bathroom. No bleeding but can't understand how I could feel so bad then feel fine. Convinced something is wrong despite seeing baby's heartbeat a week ago. Booking appointment not until 3rd Feb. Don't know what to do :-(

Kitkatmonster · 23/01/2016 09:21

genome my BMI also 31 - I did point out that it was rather unfair to check this for women who didn't know they were pregnant over Christmas and therefore ate and drank like the tiger who came for tea but she didn't seem to take my point and change the figures. In fairness she said it just means that I have to have a glucose tolerance test later on, and I could have some kind of support, someone who weighs me and talks about healthy eating. I declined this on the basis that I am perfectly capable of weighing myself, am eating healthily and as soon as I hit 12 weeks I'll be on every antenatal exercise going. BMI has to be under 34 for our local birth centre so I'm within that :)

Kitkatmonster · 23/01/2016 09:24

butteflies sorry we must have cross posted. I'm very on and off too, and start to panic. I do think it's normal for symptoms to come and go but it's no less worrying. Hope you're OK.
