Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant Smile 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!! Grin

welcome Unreliablepat!

Just a quick thought on exercise - I was at an insanity class in the autumn and a lady who was still bf her 4 month old dislocated her knee during the warmup. Don't want to sound preachy but please take care of your increasingly stretchy joints if you're doing such a hard core class!

I'm under the consultant too after complications last time fifi

Fifi10 · 19/01/2016 14:37

Congrats and welcome pat

With regards to the scan I'm going to discuss this with DM this evening, she is a midwife (wrong county for me tho). I've already text her and she's the one who said NICE guidelines say nucal test by 13w6 so 14+ weeks is rubbish. I'll probably just pay, but it's finding the right place to go private.

Fifi10 · 19/01/2016 14:41

Oh and all my gym classes are my version of things- I have personal trainer at gym so although I go to classes I very much do an individual (low impact) thing. I've learnt this the hard way after having two shoulder dislocations, bursitis, tendonitis...

Hoping to go to antenatal yoga once I'm over the 12 week mark, but again have to be really careful not to overstretch anything.

FrazzleRock · 19/01/2016 15:27

Hi Pat welcome and congratulations!

Chill - I don't feel terribly pregnandt and I think we're at the same stage. I got Clear Blue (when I tested for forth time on Monday) 2-3 weeks. My boobs have also been sore and have kept me awake at night. Today hough, they're fine! And I agree time is moving veeeeeeeeeery sloooooowly. I've only know for just over a week. Though last week was the longest week of my life to be fair.

Has anyone ever used La Leche League? I really struggled with BFing my two DS due to typical PCOS rubbish boobs not having enough breast tissue. This time I'm hoping to be as prepared as is humanly possible. I have emialed them and planning to joing one of their meetings in Feb...

Oh and there we go, new list!

I'd also be interested to hear about La Leche league experiences, I don't really know anyone in my area (yet) - Oxfordshire - so was wondering if it's a good way to meet other mums as well as the NCT?

Added the fact I'm from Devon to the stats.

I'm just so tired in the afternoons. Poor DD has just had a 'snuggle' on the sofa aka you watch crap TV while I sleep!! I wish I was motivated to be out in the sun exercising or doing something useful.

Kitkatmonster · 19/01/2016 16:26

frazzle I have some experience of La leche league but it is from 10 years ago! In my area the local woman who ran it held informal meetings/drop ins at her houseon certain day/times and you could just pop by for a coffee and advice or just a chat with other mums. We settled into BF well and I really just went for the company and to get out of the house and to have someone else make me a coffee. It all seemed informal but informative if anyone had any issues. Like I say my info probably out of date though!

zeeka · 19/01/2016 16:27

I like la leche league. The book with the weird name (The womanly art of breastfeeding) is brilliant and gives you lots of info about how to deal with problems. I had lots of difficulties fb my twins and the (24 hour!!) helpline and book were great. I only went to a couple of meetings, but I think the peer support could be valuable. I also found a really good nhs bf counsellor at the hospital, who did a weekly clinic. It saved me several times!

zeeka · 19/01/2016 16:28

lilliana snuggles are great! Don't feel badSmile I bet she loved it!

eskimoflo · 19/01/2016 17:36

Hello everyone,

I have been absent for a few days as I've had quite an eventful weekend...

I had some spotting on Sunday, tiny, tiny little amounts of blood and some when I wiped too. I then had some sharp 'stabbing' pains later on in the afternoon and was really worried, so I phoned NHS Direct and they got me an appointment at the walk-in clinic. The nurse there was lovely and checked me out completely. I told her that I was booked into the EPAU for an early scan anyway (due to past fertility problems and lack of cycles), so she ruled out things like a bladder infection and advised some rest. (There really wasn't a lot she could do).

Yesterday, I stayed off work because I had quite strong AF-like pains and cramps, so that made me even more concerned, but I took it easy and waited for my scan, which was this morning. The scan showed a heartbeat! However, I am really puzzled, as it is only measuring 3.6mm crl. This puts me at 'less than 6 weeks.' Now, I know for a fact that I am AT LEAST 6+4 (I thought I was 7 weeks today!). I know that I'm 6+4 at least because I had CD21 tests done and my progesterone was 14, so I had ovulated by then and my progesterone had started to rise, even if it was late! Even if I had conceived on cd21, this would put me at 6+4. So I'm concerned that the embryo is measuring quite small... Hmm

Anyway, at least there is a heartbeat, so I can stop worrying a little about the spots of blood. I think I may have an early private scan in a couple of weeks, just to check that it's still growing and progressing. Such a worrying time! x x x

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 19/01/2016 17:36

frazzle my friend in Oxfordshire has had brilliant support from LLL.

It's too early for cravings isn't it!? I just want spicy food. Odd

kimblesj · 19/01/2016 18:25

I think I'm out ladies. Just passed a pink/brown clot type thing, not much can be done at this time I guess. Will call epu in the morning. I literally had my booking appointment this afternoon too Confused

CatFaceCrayola · 19/01/2016 18:45

Where abouts kit kat?

Fingers crossed for you eskimo

CatFaceCrayola · 19/01/2016 18:46

so sorry kimbles I missed your post

nailsathome · 19/01/2016 19:02

Fingers crossed here too Eskimo.

Kimbles- if you have no pain nor any other red bleeding then you may still be ok so don't panic just yet. I lose pink/brown mucusy blobs a lot in early pregnancy.

Kitkatmonster · 19/01/2016 19:09

kimbles am so sorry, stay positive though - I'm sure it will be a worrying evening but see what the epu say tomorrow.

eskimo I'm glad it seems to have gone well for you.

catface I was brought up in a village just outside Preston, most of my family are based up there still, sister's in Penwortham.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 19/01/2016 19:11

kimbles you're in my thoughts Flowers

MargaretCabbage · 19/01/2016 19:17

I'm planning on trying to get to some LLL meetings. I only managed to breastfeed DS for a few weeks (long story), I struggled to get any real help and when I did I felt really judged for topping up with formula in the meantime and gave up. I was really sad about it for a long time, so I want be prepared to succeed this time.

You're making me feel terrible with regards to exercising. I'd just taken up kickboxing when DS was conceived and I kept it up for a bit but I as just too knackered in the first trimester. There are free antenatal exercise classes in my area from 12 weeks, but the gym is a 40 minute walk each way so I didn't go last time. I walk a lot and my job isn't sedentary at least!

Fingers crossed Kimble.

Sausage2229 · 19/01/2016 19:58

Kimbles I'm crossing my fingers for you X

FantasticMax · 19/01/2016 20:19

Fingers crossed too Flowers

Can I join too ladies? I'm 5 weeks today, with a due date of 19/09. My second DC. Feeling fine so far but felt dreadful with my first from 6 weeks onwards till the birth, so not feeling hopeful this time!

peardrop2 · 19/01/2016 21:30

Great news Eskimo Smile Lovely that you got to hear a heartbeat!

I got my Doppler out today and we think we found a heartbeat Smile It feels so early to be detecting anything with a Doppler but I really think it was one as I remember how it felt with DS at 8 weeks + 6 days. I can't be more than 7 weeks + 5 days today.

Just found out that I'll need to wear a strapless bra with my bridesmaid dress when 6 months pregnant. Does anyone know if this is even possible? I can't imagine you can buy strapless maternity bras!
