Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant Smile 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!! Grin

I'd had close to 6 months of being pretty lazy ending in Christmas and restarted my fitness campaign with spin just before I knew I was pregnant. I then agonised for ages about joining the gym. I'm the end I figured I'd been doing gym training and running/biking multiple times a week until 6 months earlier, it wasn't as if I didn't know my body. So, I'm now doing personal training (trainer knows pregnant), spin (and I'm going to tell the instructor so he stops cranking the bike up!) and went for my first run in ages yesterday - did 5k nice and gently with no problems and not even sore legs today so hopefully that means I judged it OK.
As far as my searching suggests the main risks are falls/knocks in things like skiing or contact sports, raising your internal temperature too much (no runs in the heat or hot yoga) and oxygen depriving the growing baby by pushing yourself so hard you don't take in enough oxygen, they recommend you can sustain a conversation. I figure the heat isn't going to be a problem where I live and I chat through the running and gym but need to tone down the spin a bit.
My main issue for the fitness drive is that I need to start eating more healthily, pizza for tea a bit less frequently!

Cl4re124 · 18/01/2016 22:08

I still go to the gym 3 times a week with my last pregnancy I swam until I was 8 months It really helped during labour. I have a holiday booked in May so I'm planning on keeping weight off apart from my bump lol

zeeka · 18/01/2016 22:19

Fifi...any other twin symptoms? Lots of sickness? I have twins and my mum was a twin too:) I don't think it's twins for me this time though.

wineandcheeseplease · 18/01/2016 22:21

Well I have my scan tomorrow. Scared, worried and excited!

Cherryberry1 · 18/01/2016 22:26

I've spent too much time casually browsing for maternity clothes today. I'm making a note of what I'll get when the time comes.

I'm wondering when others began to show with Baby#2 and beyond?

For the list:

Kitkatmonster · 18/01/2016 22:35

cherry I'll confess, I bought a couple of pairs of maternity leggings last week and I'm now living in them. Just so comfy! I'm only 7+1 but with the bloating my waistbands were too tight to be comfortable. That's my guilty secret though, obviously I won't be advertising it in RL!

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 18/01/2016 22:44

I leant all my maternity clothes to a friend. Getting them back next week and I'll need a good sort out. I'm starting off this pregnancy slimmer than last time (another reason to keep the Zumba going!) so I'm not sure I'll be able to use it all straight away. Ooh I can't wait for maternity leggings up to my chin 😍

JayBeanie · 18/01/2016 23:09

Thanks for the welcome. Feels a bit like I'm late to the party, I'm so far behind some of you Smile This will be DC1 for me although my DP already has 2.
Whilst we're talking about exercise, I'm still cycling to work (when it's not icy) but worried I shouldn't be, it's not very far though, only a couple of miles but involves a big hill!

CatFaceCrayola · 18/01/2016 23:15

Lol. Definitely not ready for digging the maternity clothes out yet!

Don't know what to do about fitness though. I've only just got back in to swing of exercise again, however my thing is pole fitness which I'm guessing is probably quite high risk. I've paid for 2 more weeks so was debating going and taking it easy.

Probably need to find an alternative though. Zumba or some kind of dancing maybe? Last pregnancy I became a total slob as soon as I found out. Do not want that to happen this time

Cherryberry1 · 19/01/2016 00:28

Oh KitKat, that makes me feel so much better! Surely if I buy some maternity leggings next week it will be a sensible purchase as they'll come in handy in the next few weeks anyway, right...

All this talk of exercise has me making ambitious plans to take DS1 swimming and also for some long walks when the weather improves Grin

ohanami · 19/01/2016 03:13

Flowers rif if you're still here. Take good care of yourself over the next few weeks.

Hi to all the new faces and congratulations. Just catching up because the faintest of lights woke me up an hour ago and I'm still wide awake. I'd forgotten about the insomnia. I need the loo as well but our bathroom is downstairs and it's too cold to move that far. Everything else seems to be going OK at the moment, trying to decide whether to pay for a scan next week so that we can start to share our news and look forward to things with a little more certainty. Dh's view is "but we'd only have to wait another month". He doesn't really get why that might make for a long month! Does anybody know if a scan at 8/9 weeks is likely to need to be done internally?

icklekid · 19/01/2016 04:52

fifi any wee is fine!

jay my friend cycled to meet us when we were all on mat leave so around 36 weeks pregnant - you will be fine!

All this talk of exercise ladies I'm really missing running but at no point have I the energy or motivation. Need to try and get this sickness under some kind of control before I am tempted - the freezing temperatures aren't helping!

kitkat so tempted to get the maternity leggings out now- I'm definitely bloated! That plus sickness plus time off already means quite hard to hide at work- I've only been there since September though so don't know people well enough to share!

cl4re you just copy list add your details in correct place and post!

nailsathome · 19/01/2016 06:55

Cat I do pole and my instructor said it's fine, just listen to your body and don't push it

Lilliana · 19/01/2016 07:17

All this talk of exercise is making me feel bad. I'm not very fit but did go to a dance based fitness class before Christmas. Not been for a while but maybe I should think about going back. It does really kill me though.

Definitely go swimming it's great when you get bigger too.

No mat clothes for me yet. I struggled through in my jeans to around 16 weeks last time and the relief when I finally bought some mat trousers!! Will definitely be in them earlier this time.

Lilliana · 19/01/2016 07:18

I've also got a pregnancy yoga DVD which is good for stretching you out.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 19/01/2016 07:29

Just caught up with the thread. Sorry for the silence, it's been a tough week. Sickness and exhaustion just crippled me - also couldn't get warm and very achey so wondering if I actually had a bug? Feeling a bit better now. Also have some travel sickness bands which I think are helping a bit.

We had to have our lovely DDog put to sleep on Sunday. He was diagnosed with cancer in October so we were expecting it, but still utterly devastated. He was only 6.

Feeling utterly lost now - DS will be 3 on Friday and his party is on Saturday and I'm not at all prepared. Spent all of our money on vet bills so somehow need to find the money to feed a dozen three year olds. MIL is coming to stay for a week but the spare room (which will be baby's room eventually) is stacked full of junk and I've nowhere to put it. I can't get hold of the guy I booked the hall through, so really worried we won't have a location for the party. ARGH! Really stressed now.

Exercise? What's that then?

LetThereBeCupcakes · 19/01/2016 07:33

Also meant to say I'll be getting my maternity jeans out of the attic ASAP. I'm also very uncomfortable with bloating.

CatFaceCrayola · 19/01/2016 08:01

Oh cupcakes what a crappy week!

nailsathome are you an advanced poler? Hoping my instructor will say similar!

Kitkatmonster · 19/01/2016 08:03

Exactly cherry - it's an investment. We may as well get our moneys worth considering the relatively short time we're in them for!

ohanami I'm not 100% but I assumed after about 8 weeks an abdominal scan would work fine? I'm tempted too, but trying to be reasonable, I should be saving money not blowing it and an early private scan costs as much as getting my hair cut & coloured (which I desperately need). I don't think I can justify the cost, would if I could though!

ickle you won't regret it - I am so comfy in my big fat (up to my bra) leggings :)

cupcakes so sorry about the dog - what a mixed emotions weekend you will have. Go easy on yourself.

I've been up since 6am again, and am sooooo tired. Not looking forward to work today. My hair is ultra greasy at the moment, anyone else finding this? Needs washing much more often which I hate because I'm so lazy.

Feeling like nausea could get worse this morning, I'd like today to pass very quickly please...

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 19/01/2016 08:20

cupcakes I'm so sorry to hear about your week.

kitkat definitely noticed that with my last pregnancy.

Oof just woken up and I'm already tired. How can something the size of a poppy seed already be so exhausting 😁

Cl4re124 · 19/01/2016 08:44

Has anyone else experienced lower back ache it's like a dull constant pain I woke up with it yesterday and had it all day it's eased a lot today tho

zeeka · 19/01/2016 08:48

**Ohanami I had early scans (routine in dubai) last time and both were external at 6 and 8(ish... I can't remember exactly) weeks. I think even if the scan looks ok, the same reasons remain for not telling til 12/14 weeks though.

Fifi10 · 19/01/2016 08:50

zeeka the only other real 'symptom' is that I tested positive with a really thick blue line which sucked all the dye out of the other lines before my AF was even due, so in theory it could be high hgc? I've been quite lucky so far in that I was very sick over christmas but since then just mega nausea if I have an empty stomach so I'm grazing throughout the day.

wine good luck with your scan!

Exercise wise I was doing kettlebells, insanity and piyo each week along with an abs class. Have decided abs is a bit of a waste of time now, but I plan on keeping going with insanity and piyo and see how it goes.
