Best Christmas present ever - September 2016

Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!!

Ugh. Struggled this afternoon particularly with a very active DS who would prefer to be running about outside constantly rather than cooped up inside while it pours with rain. Despite managing a short power nap this afternoon while he slept.

Had to have two breakfasts and two lunches, so the nausea is kicking in good and proper now.

This is not going to be fun with a toddler in tow

I have 1st midwife appointment tomorrow, but no scan date yet. Currently trying to shift the nagging worry in the back of my mind that it could be twins... My DM is a twin and I have triplet cousins on that side... plus I can no longer fit in my jeans at just gone 9 weeks...

I'm just worrying over nothing right??? This is DC1 so I have nothing to compare this to and there are no other girls in my generation in the family. Totally unrelated, can the urine sample I need to take to the midwife tomorrow be any time or should it be first of the day?

fifi10 might be! But.. I had definitely outgrown my jeans by 9 weeks with DS1. DS 2 I had outgrown them at 6 weeks! Weaker muscles I guess... This time I'm feeling the bloat already and I think I'm only 5 weeks ( I'm a bit fatter than I used to be though). I've already started putting a hairband on my top button. I realise the little shrimp is smaller than a small thing so I guess it's other bits moving around to make space.
Don't panic yet...!!

Is anyone else struggling with terrible insomnia? Having to get up for a wee in the night keeps me awake for hours. I woke at 3:45 this morning and never went back to sleep. It's driving me bonkers

I braved it and called the Drs today, receptionist was surprisingly lovely, MW appt booked for 10th Feb.

I've not heard about my midwife appointment yet. How long does that take then? I went to GP on Tues and at that point we were in shock so I had to email her to let her know we want to be booked in for antenatal. I did so on Weds and not heard back yet... Might send her another email.

Frazzle I had a similar thing with DS. It's not been as bad this time - maybe I'm not just far enough along yet or maybe I'm just so knackered anyway I'm sleeping better!

I'm afraid it got pretty bad in the third trimester too. I watched a LOT of the West Wing boxset on the sofa between 2 and 4 am.

Well bit of luck there's a lot of TV series I want to watch then!
I seem to remember this with the DS's. But it's so frustrating, and having to do a whole day at work and the tube commute, mostly standing too, on little sleep. I never agreed with those bloody baby on board badges, but I'm seriously considering getting one for exhaustion emergencies.

Thanks Frazzle I am on the sofa under a duvet where I have been since 7.30pm! I am exhausted. It's pretty normal for me to get up in the night for the loo so I don't think it's that. I could just sleep for England!

Did Zumba tonight, thought I'd have a go seeing as I've been going for nearly a year. It was bloody hard work as I felt so tired. They say you're ok to carry on anything you already do I think?

Thanks Frazzle, I didn't need to see a GP but I think it varies by surgery, ours see you from 8 weeks and the receptionist booked me in directly for 9 weeks (MW clinic is only 2 half days a week).

thats yes, that's my understanding. I wish I'd been on a fitness phase prior to Christmas instead of an eating & drinking one. I'm now itching for 12 weeks so I can join yoga, aquanatal etc - feel like a bloated flump.
