Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant Smile 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!! Grin

Mine are on and off. I get them really bad at about five in the morning and it feels like really severe period pain and lower back cramping - like I'll start my period any moment. When I'm at work they are not so bad, so I wonder if I'm just focussed on them in the night. Hope you're ok Newtothevillage.

Newtothevillage · 13/01/2016 09:04

Thanks! Yeah I'm ok just over-worrying I think. It's my first so feel a bit lost.

Kitkatmonster · 13/01/2016 09:09

newtothevillage mine have also been on and off, and worried me a bit. Have realised (now I'm thinking about it) that I haven't really had any this week (I'm 6+3 today) but I have consistently had terrible wind and bowel type pain since before I knew for definite I was pregnant. It was sometimes hard to tell the difference between cramping and bowel/wind pain, for me anyway. However, I am pretty sure on and off cramps are normal and as a result of everything moving around and bedding in! I read not to worry unless you are in pain rather than uncomfortable.

Butterflies100 · 13/01/2016 09:19

Morning ladies, my cramping pains don't seem to be as bad as they were, unless I sneeze...then I get quite a sharp pain but it only lasts about 10 seconds. I do sneeze quite violently so I'm not worrying about it. The sickness and nausea is the worst for me, along with tiredness. Bedtime is now 9pm at the latest!! Have a family party on Saturday night which I'm going to struggle with but don't want to tell the family until my scan. The non drinking is fine cos I already told them I'm on dry January but the tiredness I don't know how I'll explain. Plus if I'm still sick on Sunday morning they are bound to guess as they are stopping with us, and we only have 1 toilet! Have a good day all x

Newtothevillage · 13/01/2016 09:32

Oh Butterflies your sickness sounds horrid, can you stomach ginger biscuits?
Luckily I haven't had any sickness yet. Just an aversion to cooked meat.

Butterflies100 · 13/01/2016 09:49

Hi Newtothevillage, yes it's pretty horrific. Luckily I have my own office at work so no one can hear my general groaning! Have got some ginger biscuits but don't fancy them (what is wrong with me lol!!). I seem to go off everything once I've puked it up! Tea, coffee, chocolate, strawberries, corn flakes etc! Can't tell from one day to the next what I will actually want to eat so a weekly shop is out the window. Just taking it one day at a time. Last night the dh had to go out and get me chip shop chips covered in salt! Never been bothered by them before but now it's all I can think of!

Mrsmumb · 13/01/2016 10:21

Wine free OFSTED + thrush = hell!
Has anyone else had heartburn already ive had it since christmas and assumed it was from eating an extreme amount over the festive period? But it hasn't eased off - i have my booking in appointment on the 3rd ill be 8 weeks? That book looks really interesting Manatee.

Fifi10 · 13/01/2016 10:27

Morning all, I have had period like cramps since finding out I'm pregnant which worried me initially but is now just annoying.

I have no sickness at all but am constantly nauseous unless I'm eating. Currently 8 weeks and have already put on half a stone which doesn't bode well Confused, but I can't bear feeling sick. I guess I need to find something healthier to chew on?

nailsathome · 13/01/2016 10:59

Thrush and ofsted poor you rachy!!

The cramps are annoying aren't they? In fact early pg symptoms being the same as AF and mc symptoms is also pretty shit!

I told my nan yesterday. She wasn't impressed, didn't say congratulations or words to that effect and just said stuff like "I knew you wanted another one but didn't think you'd do it yet" and "how will you manage" etc. It's exactly the reaction I was worried about getting so now I'm not excited about telling people at all. I won't be telling anyone else for a long time, even after 12week scan Sad

Newtothevillage · 13/01/2016 11:03

Nails, you can't let people's opinions ruin the excitement and happiness for you. Stuff what they think, it is your body, heart, house, bank account etc and people are just judgy when it's something they wouldn't do themselves, screw them (no offence to your nan). Enjoy it x

Butterflies100 · 13/01/2016 11:30

Completely agree with newtothevillage, Nails... this is your life, your family and what you want so other people can have opinions but you just need to ignore it. One of my workmates has confronted me today (obviously I'm not keeping the sickness underwraps as good as I thought I was) and although she's very happy her first words were 'shit how will we cope without u!!' Which is why I'm scared of telling my boss!

I've also had a close mate text and ask me...I really didn't want to tell people just yet but I think a few have worked it out. I don't know how to answer him....feeling stressed :-(

icklekid · 13/01/2016 12:24

nails my mums comment was she thought we were going to wait longer followed by a long pause! To be fair told her when thought might be having a mc so I guess congratulations wasn't appropriate either really. I know the timing is what's right for our family and others will be excited when I tell them!

Violently sick all eve and this morning despite taking medication so couldn't face teaching today however can't go on like this... so little energy at the moment!

Lilliana · 13/01/2016 13:32

Rachy much sympathy for both ofsted and thrush. Hope it goes well and the thrush is sorted soon.

I still don't feel anything - had a few cramps and wind and itchy boobs but it all seems to have stopped today. I just want to get a scan so I can see baby is developing ok. Only known for 3 days and they have been the looooongest 3 days ever! 8/9 weeks until the scan is going to be an eternity.

Lilliana · 13/01/2016 13:46

Nails I'm sorry you got a less than positive reaction. It's the right thing for you so try to ignore anyone that isn't pleased for you. I'm sure however everyone will adore the baby when it arrives.

Ickle and Butterflies sickness sounds awful. I hope it passes soon.

butterflies sorry your feeling stressed about telling people / keeping it a secret. Everyone is different about who and when they want to tell. I'm actually thinking of telling people. I've told more people about the mc than I did about the pregnancy and now I hate the silence surrounding mc which in part is due to the whole 'don't tell anyone before 12 weeks' thing. I wouldn't tell anyone that I wouldn't want to know I had mc but my friends and family were so lovely and helpful during that time I don't really want to keep it a secret this time iyswim.

Kitkatmonster · 13/01/2016 14:01

nails I agree you have to just ignore comments. Reactions from those who know to my news have all been shocked responses, I think because everyone thought we were done (actually we did too, but that's what you get for not sorting contraception properly) and past it... I'm expecting a lot more shock and 'are you serious?' type responses with congratulations as an afterthought once I go 'public'. Seriously, it's best to just smile (think fuck you too, in your head) and carry on - I'm sure everyone will be thrilled once baby arrives!

MargaretCabbage · 13/01/2016 14:13

Nails, I'm sorry you didn't get the reaction you should have. I'm sure it will be a different story the closer it gets.

I've had terrible heartburn, swigging from the Gaviscon bottle already! Clearly going to be a very hairy baby! Confused

MrsS182 · 13/01/2016 16:14

Seeing everyone else has pains is very reassuring. Although mine have eased off today, which has now made me worry!
I'm just suffering from heartburn at the moment from eating an apple of all things. Also needing my bed so tired.
Happy 7 weeks tomorrow to my date twins Smile

Fifi10 · 13/01/2016 16:25

Has anyone had their booking in appointment with the midwife yet? Mine is on Tuesday (at 9 weeks) and the wait is killing me as I want her to tell me when my scan date is!

icklekid · 13/01/2016 16:41

I'm sure it's different in different areas fifi but just so you don't get your hopes up last time at my booking in appointment the midwife asked what hospital for scan/birth and then after appointment she arranged scan and I got letter a few days later so you may not find out straight away! I'm also jealous as mines not until 4th Feb when I will be 11 weeks!

DrWhy · 13/01/2016 16:50

My booking in appointment is 1st Feb when I'll be 8 weeks. I'd really really like the scan before my husband leaves for 2 months at the end of Feb, which would be 11weeks. I have no idea if they'll agree but if not I think we'll pay for a private scan and probably also the Harmony type blood test. It comes as a combined package but it's really pricey!

Butterflies100 · 13/01/2016 17:01

Dr Why- what is the Harmony blood test? My scan next week is £60, well worth it to try to get my dates right and be a bit more confident to tell people.

Fifi10 · 13/01/2016 17:04

I'm also curious about Harmony?

I've been harassing my mum about the scan and she's said she will pay privately for my scan if I don't get a date by 12 weeks (She's a hospital based midwife but is trying not to get involved in the pregnancy just yet!)

Sausage2229 · 13/01/2016 17:05

Hello All. Finally spoken to the midwife today and she's booked me into the EPU for an internal scan on Friday. I will be 6+1. Not sure if I'm pleased about this or not. Surely if they are booking me in its because they are concerned? Anyway won't be long till I find out now anyway.

MillieMoodle · 13/01/2016 17:10

My midwife appointment is next Friday when I'll be 8ish weeks. I want to have an early scan as my dates are a bit muddled. Last period started 23rd Nov so edd is officially 29th Aug but cycles were irregular, although around 35 days ish. We had an early scan with DS (at 6+2) as I had some bleeding so the doctor sent me. I found it very reassuring. DH says no this time though. Meany.

Feeling exhausted still, plus hungry all the time and nauseous if I don't eat. Also a bit grumpy. Boobs getting sore again. Mild cramps on and off. Just want it to be the weekend so I can sleep!
