Hi ladies,

I've been TTC2 for 1.5 years and I've just found out I'm pregnant Smile 1 day before Xmas eve! Best present ever! Anyone else celebrating a bfp this Christmas? I've already had to dodge chocolate mousse, champagne and Stilton...all worth it though!! Grin

RifRafia · 11/01/2016 13:07

Hi ladies, due to a previous MC I have been using Clearblue digital to track how many weeks I am as a way of tracking if HCG is rising as it should. By LMP I am 5+3, but tested this morning and it said only 2-3 weeks, the same result I got 10 days ago.

By this point I was hoping to see a 3+. The fact that it isn't has me really worried. Does anyone have any experience of this? Searched some old threads, and there seemed to be mixed outcomes. I know I should step away from the tests, but I just can't seem to. I have had no bleeding or anything, but neither do I feel particularly pregnant, bar v sore nipples.

Kitkatmonster · 11/01/2016 13:11

Rifrafia, I honestly don't know as I've never been a prolific tester, but I thought I'd read that those tests weren't necessarily that accurate? If it helps, I'm 6+1 and no real symptoms other than sore boobs and struggle to 'feel' pregnant.

Yes... I think you should step away from the tests, but I guess that's easier said than done?

GuessHowMuch · 11/01/2016 13:34

Rif the biology of pregnancy (to me anyway) makes me think that those tests can't be reliable. The amount of HCG in urine is really heavily affected by your hydration levels so could be different at different times of day, based on what you drank over the previous 24-48 hours and also what you've eaten (fruit is really high water, lots of salt etc). I really wouldn't worry too much about the tests. I'm going with the approach that nothing I do is going to affect my chances of MC now - as long as I follow all the healthy guidance. Just try to focus everyday on enjoying being pregnant today, no matter what happens. I know that's easier said than done though and I should take my own advice and stop obsessively knicker checking. We all thought the two week wait was bad?! The twelve week wait is horrible!

SewSlapdash · 11/01/2016 13:56

Rif last time I didn't test positive until 4 days past the day my period was due, so levels of hcg depend on a number of factors, not just dpo. Try to step away from the tests.

zeeka · 11/01/2016 13:58

Hi everyone, just been reading through your thread and hope I can join too! I tested a couple of days ago so should be due around 20/9 I guess! Tired and shaky but no sickness yet... I've got 8 year old twins and I remember a LOT of sickness after about 8 weeks ( I think... Seems a very long time ago!!). Yes, the 12 week wait is going to be nerve wracking for sure. So glad there's a few weeks already ticked off!

icklekid · 11/01/2016 15:39

Thanks for the sympathy everyone still feeling stressed but realise there's not much I can do. My midwife appointment isn't until I'm 11 weeks so who knows when my scan will be all being well!!!

DrWhy · 11/01/2016 16:00

Hi Folks
Another new joiner here, I'm 5 weeks today according to LMP. It just doesn't feel real, my total experience with young children is two evenings of babysitting! I can't quite believe this might actually happen!
I'm also on the TTC#1 grads thread but I hope it's OK to also pop in here? I think hearing from people who've done this before will be really helpful.
I'm feeling fine at the moment- slightly gone off chocolate but that's pretty useful! I don't want to jinx things but I keep worrying as I basically have no symptoms! Just AF type ache much of the time.
Quick question? Have you folks all given up caffeine entirely? I've cut down to one cup of tea a day and the occasional nibble of chocolate which I think is under the guidance but I'm wondering if giving up completely would be better?

OTheHugeManatee · 11/01/2016 16:02

Rifrafia - STEP AWAY FROM THE CLEARBLUE Smile

Beyond a point they're just not that accurate, and the internet is full of mums-to-be fretting needlessly because a Clearblue has told them something other than what they know perfectly well to be the case.

I know it's almost irresistible to keep testing just to try and keep the worrying at bay, but it won't actually change anything. If you're feeling a bit stressed there's a very supportive thread for people who are pg after MC here - I'm in the same boat as you and really struggle with the anxiety and they've talked me down from a state of complete crazy unnecessary worry a few times already Wink

zeeka · 11/01/2016 16:08

DrWhy, I have twins and had no symptoms til about 7/8 weeks. Then they really started! I have cut down to one cuppa too, there are nhs guidelines on their website: a few cups a day is ok. I also had zero experience with kids and hadn't held a baby til I had my two girls! I picked it all up ok, although nothing prepares you for the lack of sleep. Not even the nightlife of my early twenties :)

Kitkatmonster · 11/01/2016 16:12

DrWhy - I was down to 2 cups of tea a day for all of last week, but we needed tea bags so I bought de caff at the weekend, so I guess I'm caffeine free. I wouldn't worry too much about it to be honest, I still intend to treat myself to a coffee shop hazelnut latte every now and then ;)

Lilliana · 11/01/2016 16:49

Sorry they are being less than helpful at the hospital Ickle. I really hope all is well.

Manatee were you on the mc boards with me? I recognise your name. Huge congratulations on you pregnancy.

Rif LEAVE THE TESTS ALONE! I clear blue tested regularly after my first mc and it went like clockwork through the weeks. I still mc, however with my DD It didn't turn to 3+ for ages after it should have (I was just using them up!) and all was fine. Don't trust them they won't tell you anything useful either way.

DH is having a panic - we need to move / change the car / change his job (antisocial hours and v physical). How are we going to cope on mat pay etc. I just want a couple of weeks of feeling happy and let it sink in before being practical!!

Welcome dr and zeeka Congratulations!

Oops sorry I clearly can't cut and paste accurately on my phone!

RifRafia · 11/01/2016 17:30

Your support and advice is really really appreciated ladies, thanks so much for the replys, they really mean a lot. Flowers Not spoke to anyone in RL about it, in case they thought I was going mad! I promise I will step away from them and not order any more from Amazon!

I will check out that thread O, thanks for the link.

And welcome to all the new ladies.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 11/01/2016 17:35

Thanks Lilliana - I didn't even know you COULD C&P from a phone... hence me only doing it when I can get to a PC

OTheHugeManatee · 11/01/2016 17:36

Thanks Liliana Smile It still doesn't feel real and I think it's going to be more worrying than exciting for me until I've at least got past the 9wk mark where I lost the last.

I'm still dead chuffed to be here Grin

icklekid · 11/01/2016 18:48

Well my dr rang to say he's chased up my bloods, he is forgiven, and levels have more than doubled which is a great sign so for now I'm still here! So relieved and should hopefully sleep better tonight! 😀

eskimoflo · 11/01/2016 19:01

icklekid So relieved for you! Hope you have a restful night!

Lilliana My DH is in a panic too! He's a personal trainer, but before that he was a graphic designer for 10+ years, so does some freelance from time to time. Since finding out last week, he's decided to try and find a permanent graphics job, but I'm not sure if he will or not.

Thank you to those who have updated the list. It's very surreal to see my name on there!

I called my consultant's secretary earlier as I hadn't heard anything from them. I was really surprised to hear that they want me to have an early scan next week! Because of the clomid and the history or no cycles, they want me in next Tuesday. She hasn't made the appointment yet, but is going to get back to me in the next couple of days. I think I'll be around 7 weeks then. Still worrying, as I have zero symptoms, except sore boobs, which seem to be getting gradually less sore, to the point where I haven't felt much at all today Hmm I haven't even had a booking appointment yet, so it all feels suddenly very close! Shock

LetThereBeCupcakes · 11/01/2016 19:10

Great news Ickle!!

Sausage2229 · 11/01/2016 19:14

Evening All, hope everyone is well. Pleased for you ickle.
I've been having bad AF type pains for 3 days now and they were so strong last night they woke me up! I have no bleeding. My boobs are so sore I can barley touch them and I feel sick most of the morning. Do you think I need to be checked or is this all normal?

Butterflies100 · 11/01/2016 19:25

That is wonderful news Ickle. So pleased for you.

My other half is panicking too, he's looking for a new job with more money as I am more than the breadwinner in our house. I've tried not to put any pressure on him but after me telling him to move on for the last year it seems my pg has suddenly spurred him into action!

Sausage I would say that without bleeding you shouldn't worry but if you feel something is wrong then go be checked out. Is the pain constant? I've certainly had a few sharp ones but they tend to go away with a hot water bottle on my tummy. The sickness and sore boobs is very normal.

Eskimo- that's great that they are getting you in so soon and you'll know what's happening. A week on Friday seems a v long way off for me :-(

0hCrepe · 11/01/2016 20:20

Hi can I join? I got a bfp on Saturday, EDD 13th Sep. Totally having the same anxieties as everyone else- every twinge is worrying. I also retested yesterday morning and the line seemed fainter but my friend who has 4dc said hers went lighter and darker. I've got 2 Dc aged 9 and 11 and I'm old! I'm also a teacher! Have told 3 close friends and hoping to wait till 12 weeks to tell others if it gets that far... Before I had my first dc I had a mmc at 11.5 weeks. Long time ago now.
I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and this is the slowest week ever, normally it flies. Really liking the saying today I'm pregnant. I'm trying not to hide away from talking about a future baby; talking about it won't change anything!

MillieMoodle · 11/01/2016 21:31

Evening all

Good news ickle smile]hopefully you will be able to get a decent night's sleep tonight.

I've had cramps on and off today and a few sharper pains this evening. Still ridiculously tired and have had nausea on and off all day. Boobs a bit sore but nothing like they were last week. I am definitely wishing the next few weeks away! **
**

Lilliana · 12/01/2016 07:36

Welcome ohcrepe I'm old and a teacher too!

Good news ickle so glad he chased things up for you.

Glad it's not only my DH in a spin! Not feeling any real symptoms yet apart from spots and itchy boobs. Pregnancy is so glam Grin

Kitkatmonster · 12/01/2016 07:43

Ickle, glad you've had good news from the doctor.

Ohcrepe, my older children are the same age as yours, it's a funny gap to have with the 3rd isn't it? When will you tell them? We are thinking after the 12 week scan, providing all is well, I've been trying to think up a funny/memorable way to tell them but failing! They certainly will be surprised!
