Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 43rd grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 42nd grads thread is HERE

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread HERE
for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

HERE is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates. (Except it's not because I don't know how to link to the stats sheet!)

Oh dear Thursday. Hooray for Wine though!

First attempt at expressing colostrum this evening. Got a few droplets on right nipple, not enough to collect. Hopefully the massaging is encouraging something to happen if I persevere.

Hobbit19 · 13/01/2016 23:04

How are you trying to collect Pretzel? In hospital I was using a tiny syringe. They wanted 0.5ml which was made up.of tiny drops!

Nefertitts · 14/01/2016 04:56

Ouch ouch ouch. I think a baby might be happening. Gx this is it. Otherwise it fucking hurts whatever it is.

honeysucklejasmine · 14/01/2016 05:00

Ooooh! I was just thinking "surely Niff or Gouda will pop on this thread!"

Also, I love that the selfie you took on FB might be your last preggo photo!

Nefertitts · 14/01/2016 06:18

It's early days yet... Doula reckons it'll get going in earnest this eve. Contractions 5-6 mins apart for the last 6 hours. Looks like it will happen but nothing dramatic yet. Still at home, now watching life of Brian and eating pop tarts... Come on microniff!

5hell · 14/01/2016 06:19

ThursdayLastWeek · 14/01/2016 07:05

Why are they so keen to get ladies with GD to express colostrum? Didn't purple try to do it too?

Hope you're ok Niff. Just remember this pain won't last forever, you're so close to meeting the next member of your little family! We love you, you're going to be fab!

CountryGal4 · 14/01/2016 07:23

Squuueeeeee go niff!

pretzelpieces · 14/01/2016 07:29

niff that's so exciting! Go you! waves pompoms

pud I've got a little pot to hold under the nipple and then I'm meant to periodically suck it into syringes and store if/when I get enough. I've got 1 and 2ml syringes I think.

thurs there's a risk she'll have low blood glucose in the 24hrs after birth so colostrum can supplement whatever I'm able to give her then.

jellypi3 · 14/01/2016 08:15

Woo go niff!! Pom poms at the ready! :)

pret are you using an expressing machine or just your hands? I am seriously worried my boobs don't work, I've not had any signs of leaking or anything.

gouda all ok with you and mini cheese?

ThursdayLastWeek · 14/01/2016 08:43

Ah ok I see. Is it not recommended to use formula in that case? Or would it be ok, but this to make sure there is an alternative if the parents don't want to use formula?
Sorry, I just find this all v interesting Smile

I was also going to reassure you that DS had formula feeds and top ups in his first few days which in no way effected our BF journey - so not to put pressure on yourself. But that would be irrelevant if formula is a no no Grin

jelly don't you worry about your boobs. They'll sort themselves out when the time comes. From talking to friends, it's not all that common to leak much before the baby is born.

FeatheredTail · 14/01/2016 08:44

Hurrah, go Niff!

purplewhale · 14/01/2016 08:50

Whoop whoop shaking pom-poms for Niff

pretzelpieces · 14/01/2016 09:00

jelly same! I've had nothing and even now I'm trying it's just 'beading' on the one side after a lot of effort! Not sure I'll be able to collect any! But she said I might not be able to, it doesn't have any implications for milk production after birth so don't worry about that. I'm using my hands - the amounts are too small for a pump, and colostrum is sticky so it would just stick to the insides of the pump.

thurs They'll use formula if they have to, but colostrum would be better if I'm able to store some up (she said I might not manage to get any!). Thanks, that is reassuring that formula top ups didn't affect your overall BFing journey! Especially since I'm getting bugger all out so far (but faintly hoping that I will/that the stimulation might bring me closer to labour!).

chants Niff niff niff niff! Whoooo waves fanjo flags you can do it!

pretzelpieces · 14/01/2016 09:24

Also meant to add - 2 weeks until my induction today! And woke up with a random nosebleed to celebrate.

ThursdayLastWeek · 14/01/2016 09:29

I think my baby is trying to break out this morning. It's back to being its violent self.

Huzzah for countdown! Boo for nosebleed pretz

Hobbit19 · 14/01/2016 09:40

Eep, very exciting Niff and good that you have a doula to support you!

Jelly my boobs did nothing before P was born. Nadal. The didn't even get much bigger in pregnancy. Now I am like Lol Ferrari crossed with a prize dairy cow. So don't worry!

Pretzel I also could not express colostrum before birth but could a few hours after. We also gave P formula top ups (as well as BFing) for 36 hours when she was 3 days old as she wasn't feeding well. It's made no difference to her ability to BF and actually reinforced how much easier BFing is without all the fannying about with sterilising etc!

KeepTheHope · 14/01/2016 11:31

Oh niff how exciting! Hope it's all going well so far. Pom poms

Peenut · 14/01/2016 12:03

Go Niff! Hope everything goes well for you –how exciting!

The colostrum collection sounds painstaking! Hope you ladies manage some more squeezes!

Went to my friends house for dinner and after eating tons of food woke up this morning with an actual baby bump ... woah! Probably all bowel but is there anyway!

Peenut · 14/01/2016 12:05

Good luck for scan Keep and I'm sure a weekend with your mate will help keep you distracted. Sorry to hear she is having a tough time.
