Sorry Corainder mis-understood! its the hormones (good excuse for eveything!)

Marylou - I sympathise on the DD playing up - my little girl (Lucy) when told her she couldnt have someting shouted "You're ruining my day off!" (day off being from preschool - shes coming up to 4)She stuck her tongue out at me yesterday ....Cbeebies is an excellent way to cool off!

Think its the willys they miss.....and confuse as girls. But not sure!

hollyandalice · 09/01/2007 13:38

Seansgirl- My dd is 19 months and I frequently get told to "go away". It's delightful! She is such a grumpy little madam!

Seansgirl · 09/01/2007 16:21

Absolutely charming its like a slap in the face everytime they come out with something! The other one is "go away I dont want you, I want daddy" Thankfully the angel side has come out this afternoon

Sorry to first timers not meaning to scare anyone (bit late now!) they are all little angels - mostly when asleep

KDRacey · 09/01/2007 16:27

Found this site while playing around on the web. Great to read how everyone else due around the same time is getting on. First baby for me and dh and due on 23rd June. Just getting over the ms and starting to get appetite back a little ? have gone off so much food its unbelievable. Have suffered with bad indigestion/heatburn since about week 9 and daren?t go anywhere without my peptax (thank heavens for free prescriptions now!!!).

Had mw checkup today and heard heartbeat which was great, nice to know little one still okay. Just looking forward to feeling some movements now. Sorry to waffle. Hope everyone else is getting along okay.

auntymandy · 09/01/2007 16:30

seansgirl..I keep loosing thread of this thread!!!
Each pregnancy is pretty much the same..I seem to do it quite well!!
All births different though. Although all end with the same result a bouncing baby!!

auntymandy · 09/01/2007 16:34

oh, I wont be finding out what it is either.
I dont see why I need to know.
Never did with others but always guessed right!

sputnik · 09/01/2007 17:45

Wow, it's taken me ages to catch up with this thread. Welcome to all the newbies, seems there's quite a few of us now.

Glad I'm not the only one looking like a fat cow, I shocked myself the other day in the bath by pushing my tummy out as far as it would go and it looked like I was just about ready to give birth (yeah, I wish). So folks don't try this yourselves unless you want a fat cow moment too .

I've got my amniocentesis coming up next tuesday and am feeling a bit aprehensive, is anyone else doing it? It seems to be more common here than in the UK, and they just don't do all the risk factor testing, nuchal scans etc that you lot get. Anyway, I did it last time too with no problems and I'll be with the same doc this time so fingers crossed.

Anyway... it's official, the pg exercise mutual motivation thread will be starting tomorrow. See you there

doggus · 09/01/2007 18:02

Welcome kdracey, glad to have you.

To twinkle, I am 38 (39 in 2 weeks), edd - June 28th, don't want to know and hospital won't tell me anyway so unless it is a particularly well endowed boy, I won't know!

I haven't felt any movements yet, not even bubbles. But it's my first which everyone says takes longer. I'm looking so tubby, I hate catching sight of myself in the mirror. How much weight are we supposed to have put on at 16 weeks, does anyone know?

annobal · 09/01/2007 20:21

Not sure what the weight gain is meant to be but I've put on 3kg (1/2 stone) already My total weight gain for previous pg was only 1 stone!! Personally I am blaming my nesting by way of constant cooking... That said I am looking forward to the excercise thread starting.

auntymandy · 10/01/2007 06:49

I put on 3 stone with each of mine!!
Depends on weight of baby I guess.
Friend of mine had a 12lber in dec!!!
Thats something to think about!!

trace2 · 10/01/2007 09:40

hi to all new ones, its been a while again since i was on and finding it hard to keep up! am 18 weeks now still feeling very sick also started with spd finding it hard to walk and now ds as stated school this week, so walking to and back but at least getting rest in in day.

i will be trying to find out what sex my baby is at end of month.

corrie i sweetie ill pop over to your thread to say hello, and hows your ds?

notsolilKel · 10/01/2007 09:54

Hiya Hollyandalice, just happened to think, I've got so much boy stuff from DS (10 mo) and I've had the reverse fear - if it's a girl this time round I'll have nothing but lovely blue dungarees for her to wear!! though I am secretly hoping for a girl and a chance to finally buy some of those super-cute clothes you see in all the shops. (I'll warn you right now, buying boy's clothes is like looking for a great pair of jeans...hard work!!!)

Lol Sputnik at pushing belly out and the shock - KWYM!!! Second time round I think I'm about 5 weeks ahead of where I was last time in terms of weight.

Weight gain I heard should be about 2 stone in total - most in the last trim. But if you lost weight or were thinner to start with you put more like 3 stone on. Last time round nobody would believe I was pg cuz I just didn't pack it on (not even on the norks but the last month was crazy, a pound a day and then bang I was 80kg!!.

marylou23 · 10/01/2007 13:00

Ditto with the humungus belly. It's always so much worse in the evening, too - I look huge from about 5pm onwards; in the morning I can still convince myself I look vaguely human. So far have put on about 9 pounds I think. Pretty sure I felt a little kick last night though - so hard to tell; as soon as I feel something I convince myself it was just gas/my imagination. But it was in the same place I felt a kick a few days ago - bottom left hand side of my tummy. Yay!!!

strawberri · 10/01/2007 13:16

Hello,

Annobel, if you say you're concerned about baby, they HAVE to offer you a scan surely, sounds very mean if not. My friend a GP in London says that if it's 2nd or 3rd baby and no complications then they offer less scans appts etc.. not really fair.
Can't remember who was asking but YES Figleaves do maternity bra's they also have a big sale on right now, I just bought a lovely swimsuit reduced from fifty quid to £10!! very quick delivery too

Daisybump · 10/01/2007 14:07

It was me looking for bras...thanks Strawberri.
Lots of things to talk about from the recent posts....I'm now 18+3 and have put on about 5 lbs....this time with DS I'd put on nearly a stone so I'm winning on this one!! I do look much more pg though and have been in maternity trousers since about 12 weeks.
Scan is two weeks today so that's something to look forward to again, although I'm getting worried that they'll find something wrong...given my geriatric status (38 in three weeks). I want to know the sex, but DH doesn't, so I guess we'll be knowing the sex!! Relations decidedly frosty at the mo as he is not being very new man about the pregnancy which has disappointed me and he doesn't understand the horrible mood swings I've been having. He also doesn't understand why I have to have my nose in the mothercare catalogue and showing him different cots/buggies/car seats etc, when he's already given his opinion on what he likes.
He said last night that he finds it difficult to get excited about a person who doesn't really exist. Bit of news for him there...baby DOES exist, we've just not met him/her yet. Men
Feeling movement in erratic ways...lots one day then none for a day or two which is just scary. Don't know how to describe it, but a lot of the prods do seem to be very much 'at the back', like baby is trying to kick it's way out my bottom (if anyone understands what I mean) With DS it was all at the front front (maybe a girl this time she hopes!)
Felt from very early on with DS that he was a DS to the point that I hadn't even thought of any girls names. Not sure at all this time, although the needle and thread trick says its a pink one.

annobal...where in Leeds and when are you due?....maybe we'll meet at ante-natal classes. Do you know of any aquanatal classes? I fancy giving it a go.

notsolilKel · 10/01/2007 14:44

Daisy bump - at your DH not realising the baby is real yet. Goodness I'd have a go at my DH if he were so mean... has yours been at a scan yet? That usually brings it home..

hollyandalice · 10/01/2007 15:37

Daisybump- I think men forget that you are growing a person inside you and that it kind of makes you feel a bit rubbish. My dp isn't very interested in baby "stuff" either (although he's really excited about the baby). I think he knows that whatever he says I'll just go out and buy the things I like anyway!!

I am a bit fat, although I never really lost the baby fat from dd. I'm gonna end up like a whale!! Hopefully I won't go beyond 40 weeks this time, that's what made me so fat last time. I was just sat at home being bored and eating loads coz my bloody baby was very stubborn and wouldn't come out!!

auntymandy · 10/01/2007 16:05

mums become mums the day they concieve and men when the baby is born!

notsolilKel · 10/01/2007 16:07

Oh just happened to remember, my DH really got interested once we started buggy shopping. It's like buying a car, you know...

sputnik · 10/01/2007 16:15

Right, finally got my act together to start up the fitness motivation thread, are you ready to boogie? Step right this way!

KDRacey · 10/01/2007 17:00

DH suprised me today by emailing a link for a half price deal on a Mama and Papa's pushchair - just when I thought he wasn't interested!!!!! Then he asks me if it is okay and what we need - well, being our first I haven't a clue!!!!! So now he's happy to be dragged out looking at the weekend just incase he spots another bargin!!!!

auntymandy · 11/01/2007 09:50

midwife this aft. Hope I hear the heartbeat!!

Seansgirl · 11/01/2007 10:43

Hi All,

Finally plucked up courage to get on scales to see how horrendous the weight gain is 11lbs thus far however, this has slowed down from the first few weeks when I seemed to be piling on pounds weekly. I was slightly lighter when got prg this time as was on slimming world diet and had lost weight but reckon am about same weight now at 16 weeks that I was with DD at same time! Not so bad as thought. No idea how much I put on last time as got got scared/thought what the hell after a while.

MW appointment yesterday and heard heartbeat! Have asked if can go again in fortnight to listen again which MW was ok with!

DH was very interested in baby stuff last time not so much now as he says we have what we need though think may change/replace some things. Sigh! Miss the excitment of looking at catalogues and planning what to buy like most girls love to shop! Would just say re buggies/ and prams as it is one mistake I made when buying ours - i got a Graco travel system with clip on car seat etc. but soon realised that also needed a small, fold up light weight buggy from about 6 months onwards (particularly for travelling on public transport, planes, shopping, leaving at my mums as her car had smaller boot...) the travel system although i still used it at times was heavy, bulky and awkward. Having said that am still going to use it this time but replace the buggy (it was only cheap) as got rather bashed on planes going to Majorca and France several times!

hollyandalice · 11/01/2007 12:15

If anyone out there thinks that fake tan will hide the dreaded stretch marks then I'm afraid you are mistaken!!! We have just won a holiday to Dubai and we go in one week! I put some fake tan on this morning and the stretch marks are white, while the rest of me is brown! It's a good job I tried it out before I went, at least it has time to fade.

Seansgirl · 11/01/2007 12:20

LOL Hollyandalice, thanks for the warning! I'm surprised but forewarned! Well done you for winning a holiday tho! Very envious don't think I'll be seeing much sun before end of June!
