I can tell foot but this is basically because i know the foot is there from a scan a few weeks ago and it is always in the same place.

tonight it was firmly planted against my belly wall and was foot shaped.

I can tell head and bum from feeling and otherwise its extremely random. I think people who "know" either are going off hunches, or using bits of information gathered in other ways like me. Very rarely you can clearly tell from the shape but thats not common...

haquoi123 · 04/01/2016 03:37

George those sound like bh to me. My midwife mentioned that baby turning can set them off so it might be both!

I can vaguely guess at limbs and bum as I know he's head down and he's got a favorite position: bum out under my ribs and a foot out my side. The foot feels smaller than the knee, sometimes there's a long impression like a leg and then his butt is massive. But like mad says it's all guessing! I can't wait to actually see foot shaped kicks.

Awake after a stress dream about premature labour, which also involved an opera house, Silent Night, and my old school librarian...

Thanks haquoi. I wasn't sure. They are becoming more regular now - maybe 4/5 times a day. I'm almost convinced baby will appear early but hopefully not too early! I need it to hold on for a few more weeks Smile

Georgeofthejungle · 04/01/2016 11:11

P.s the dreams! Aren't they crazy! Hmm

haquoi123 · 04/01/2016 11:33

george I've had braxton hicks since about 16 weeks and regularly for a few months now (I've also been on alert for potential premature labour as well as not trusting my dates), it's alarming but I try not to worry that they're a sign bubs is coming early as they're not usually - our bodies are just practicing! Fingers crossed you'll have a few more weeks yet :)

Just choosing a mattress for the second hand cot bed we got for 50 quid and realising that we've essentially settled on one that, price-wise, means we could possibly have bought a bed from new... It's a good quality mattress though so I think it makes up for it! And in the sale. And we've saved so much money on other stuff... Just-i-fi-caaa-tions!

Great way of justifying it haqoi! Grin

Had a bad night last night with blocked nose so was awake from 1 till 5 on the sofa! Not even a pregnancy related issue and I'm being kept awake lol!

I actually think I'm all set and ready for baby now! Scary!!@

Georgeofthejungle · 04/01/2016 13:47

I was looking at cots in IKEA. Was just gonna get one from there and one of their mattresses too. I've not looked at any reviews though. Thought it would be OK. We've got the Chico next to me for the first wee while.

We are pretty much set too. Still to decorate the babies room but in no rush to get that done. Also need a bath - swithern between a tummy tub and a normal baby bath..

I was amazed how cheap you can pick up second hands fits in excellent condition. We paid £10 for a John Lewis one that took our three year old right through to a couple of months ago. Directly he could climb out we cut off about 5 struts so he could get in and out easily and the mattress was one from Kiddicare that was reduced.

He is now in an Ikea extendible bed that we got second hand and I sanded and stained/varnished to match a second hand solid pine chest of drawers. We bought a brand new (and sodding expensive) extendible bed mattress to go on it and DS absolutely loves it. Sleeps through every night and loves snuggling under his mattress.

I get the full body turns top to bottom and vv and while weird, it's definitely not as painful as Brixton hicks which is describe as a really intense cramp whereas the moving feels more like I've bashed into something/lost my breath. I hope that helps! BH are really painful!

I'm feeling pretty pleased with all the stuff we bought last time. I went for good quality which DD used and this one will use. And hopefully a third. It's meant the only thing I've bought this time is a breast pump and some clothes because I can't resist! I'm starting the intense budgeting now I'm on mat leave, feel a bit daunted by the pay cut today!

Georgeofthejungle · 04/01/2016 15:53

What's vv Xing? Yep that helps - must be the turning im feeling with a few BH thrown in!

I got made redundant back in June so just waiting for MA to kick in. Can't come quick enough. It's been a massive knock for me not having my own cash but my OH has been an absolute Saint. xxx

Mawsymoo · 04/01/2016 15:54

Our lovely little boy arrived shortly after midday today! My waters went pop at 4am (and flowed for the rest of the morning) - I went straight into hospital and eventually got a c-section spot and my little darling is now napping beside me after a good feed. I'm a bit shell-shocked but delighted to have him here safe. He's 3kg so a great size for 37 weeks

Georgeofthejungle · 04/01/2016 15:56

Oh I'm obvs feeling the love today with all the kisses! Grin

Georgeofthejungle · 04/01/2016 15:58

goldmaple · 04/01/2016 16:54

mawsy congrats on your beautiful baby boy!! Will you share his name?

george those definitely sound like BH. Good practice for labour, I'm getting 15+ a day. My DH has just left for a week so I've my fingers crossed the baby holds on!

I packed my hospital bag. Makes it feel so real!!

I think baby is transverse (have check up tomorrow) but my first two were head down by now so I'm a bit concerned. This baby has no room to flip (or so it feels).

The next few weeks will be very exciting!!

34+2

IslaMann · 04/01/2016 17:04

Oh wow Mawsy huge congratulations! Hope you're not too sore (or shell shocked!) 🎉Flowers

monkerina · 04/01/2016 17:21

Oh wow, congrats Mawsy! How exciting! Flowers

George, sounds like BH to me- mine aren't painful (get them a few times a day) but just feel like my tummy's all tense and chest is a bit tight. Feels quite similar to a whole-body roll here too!

RattyCatty · 04/01/2016 17:45

mawsy that's such wonderful news! Congratulations! Smile

MaisieDotes · 04/01/2016 18:22

What wonderful news! I was only in HS last night visiting my friend and her little boy. 3kg! Fantastic! You must be so relieved it's all over. Really pleased for you.

I really need to get my bag packed! Shock
