Amazon has the avent manual breast pump in its lightening deals this morning. If you go to vouchers which is further to the right at the top when in deals you will find you can get it even further discounted and there are also vouchers for loads of baby add ons like steam microwave steriliser bags.

jellypi3 · 23/11/2015 09:03

Thanks everyone. We are so busy I've not had time to catch up properly! The move went really well, finding the odd niggle here and there with the house but that's to be expected I guess. We are just trying to plan the baby's room as best we can right now and then we can decorate it! I'm finding it a struggle energy wise unpacking though, doing this at almost 31 weeks seemed like a good idea at the time lol. My main concern is registering with my new health trust and getting a mw appointment!

Hope you are all ok, I promise I'll catch up properly when we have unpacked some more.

clarabellski · 23/11/2015 09:21

Jellypi congratulations on your move! Cake

We bought our first house in March this year and there are still boxes we haven't unpacked yet! We're taking it one room at a time. Having a baby coming has spurred us on a little bit though!

Thanks for the new thread Hacquoi! I can relate to the stretching and also have a 'flattie' (DH is adamant it is an outie, but not yet!!!!)

CalypsoLilt · 23/11/2015 10:18

place marking and counting down the days to maternity leave starting...... 4 weeks and 4 days.......

clarabellski · 23/11/2015 11:00

Boo, 9 weeks to go for me, but with a week off in the middle for Christmas, yay! [santa]

NorthernChinchilla · 23/11/2015 13:24

Two months still for me, but two weeks off over Xmas! Things are speeding up...

RattyCatty · 23/11/2015 13:46

Congrats on the move jelly! We are moving in 3 weeks so eager to hear how your GP registering / registering with new midwives/at new hospital goes!

Mawsymoo · 23/11/2015 21:51

Congrats jelly.

We're in the new house almost 2 weeks now and took a couple of days off to do the bulk of the unpacking - but since then it's been back to work and very little getting done. I'm finding myself short on storage for some reason so I need to sort that. We've some furniture ordered and painting going on and we need to find another couple of tradesmen for some small jobs but I wish I could just click my fingers so it was all done and start preparing for baby and Christmas!

My aim for this weekend is to collect hospital bag stuff from my parents and sort through it and figure out what I need.

Mawsymoo · 23/11/2015 21:52

From my parents' house that is - I have boxes of stuff in their attic!

madsaz76 · 23/11/2015 22:15

It does feel like wading through treacle trying to get sorted sometimes. I have my bag sorted now but have too much clutter in the kitchen and lounge. I get too attached to stuff so clearing out becomes a massive stress.

We went for a 3d scan. Essentially bubs has a very clear aim which is to get his/her left foot into his /her mouth. This sees a great amount of energy and concentration & appears to be a relentless (if probably fruitless based on what we saw) task.

It was very cute. I have decided boy because facial expressions remind me of DSS - though I know that doesn't neccessarily make it so. His family do seem good at boys though. We shall see

I have attached a photo - there are probably better images on dvd but I just grabbed this Smile

RattyCatty · 24/11/2015 07:06

Gorgeous photo mads!

jellypi3 · 24/11/2015 07:12

Wow great pic mad :) so cute baby was trying to eat their foot!

mawsy it's crazy how much unpacking there is to do! We are merging two households into one so there's a lot of stuff to unpack. Can't wait to get the nursery done!

I can't believe I'm almost 31 weeks. Being in the 30's makes me feel a lot more "heavy" pregnant. It seems surreal in a few short weeks we will all start becoming mummies (again for some people!)

MaisieDotes · 24/11/2015 07:41

Lovely scan photo madsaz! Amazing Smile

I know jelly the weeks are flying now! I have so much to do before baby comes. I was up until a late last night doing an assignment for my college course. I'm a serious last-minute merchant and no amount of articles about procrastination seem to be able to help me! I might aim to have everything ready for Christmas as then I'll have a month's leeway.

Going shopping this afternoon with my mum so I might pick up a few bits for baby then.

CalypsoLilt · 24/11/2015 08:22

omg I miscalculated!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm on maternity leave in THREE WEEKS AND THREE DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wine Wine Wine whoopeeeeeeeeeeeeee Grin

madsaz love that scan! really would love a 4G scan but scared they would reveal team blue/pink (or I would cave and ask!)

respect to everyone moving house etc, its hardcore at the best of times, let alone with impending baby and pregnancy woes

this SPD/pelvic girdle pain has completely thrown me, I feel like pregnancy has made my rely on other people (out of my comfort zone) and now I can't even do the most simple things on my own like going to Tesco. I was looking forward to doing exercise in my maternity leave (walks, gentle yoga, nothing crazy) but now I will just HAVE to sit around and eat mince pies!

had the 28wk MW appointment yesterday, measuring exactly for 28wks, BP good, baby HB good, so even tho my body is crumbling, this baby is thriving :)

CalypsoLilt · 24/11/2015 08:24

oh forgot arrow did your cloth nappy bundle arrive? can you post a pic please so I can get all broody?! Wink

Sighing · 24/11/2015 09:36

That's exciting calypso !
And wat mincepies for me. My pregnancy affected tastebuds apparently can't stand them. Booo!
I fell onto the side of the bath yesterday (bump first whilst washing my dsughter's hair). Kumquat is kicking away in there but I'm still paranoid. Just trying to get hold of my mifwife. I suspect all is fine though. I also suspect there's not a lot that they'll do. I also had to chase her yesterday over the magic vanishibg referral. I am feeling like a pest now!

Sighing · 24/11/2015 09:37

Oh the typos.
*eat mincepies.
*midwife
*vanishing
!

jellypi3 · 24/11/2015 09:48

Hope.ypu are OK sighing. I fell down the stairs last week when we were moving out, went down about 5 steps on my back. MW basically said if baby is kicking and there's no pain then it should be fine. Make sure you get lots of rest tho

Sighing · 24/11/2015 10:23

jelly yes I'm ok. It really shook me up (managed to do my sobbing out of earshot of my daughters).
It didn't hurt after the initial thump (i had tried to catch myself on the walls, it slowed my fall). The girls' bathroom is fairly narrow so my feet hit the cabinet at the same time which took some force out of it too. I am resting today. Mainly because of the sleepless night that inevitably followed.

NorthernChinchilla · 24/11/2015 12:10

Sympathies sighing, I know how it feels, the shock/scare is the worst bit. And you need to have a blub to let it out! Enjoy the feet-up.

Doing the tours of schools and nurseries this morning, two down and two to go!

clarabellski · 24/11/2015 13:44

Good afternoon everyone

Sighing you should definitely have some Chocolate

Isla there's an august thread now too!

Madsaz that scan is awesome. I totally think its a boy! Bet we're wrong!

Question for those ladies who have had the babies before - what do braxton hicks feel like? Would you ever describe it like a stitch (although more down under your bump rather than in your side like a normal stitch)?

CalypsoLilt · 24/11/2015 13:55

rookie error today....couldn't find my maternity tights so just wore regular ones.....I've had to cut the top elastic so I can breathe.... canNOT wait to get home and take them off! poor baby

madsaz76 · 24/11/2015 15:37

Calypso technically we still don't know - our sonographer turned the gain down so we couldn't see a lot when she went Down near to bits - but you are right it is a risk.

I really enjoyed it though - other scans are for a reason this was just for me :)

I had to cave and take 2 days off for pelvic and back pain. I struggle to get my head round depending on ohers too and DH doesn't know what to do with me. Today I was depressed because I feel breathless walking up stairs. He just looked at me - he's given up reasoning with me now.

I have no idea what braxton hicks feel like as this is my first too but I have those symptoms too clarabelski and that's what I reckon it is :)

monkerina · 24/11/2015 16:31

Hello everyone! Congrats on moves, scan and Calypso's rejuvenated living room Smile 46.5 more working days here... counting down!

This is probably a really stupid question, but dressing baby...if I put him in a shortsleeved, legless bodysuit, aren't his legs going to get cold desite blankets? I wouldn't wear just a bodysuit full stop in Feb! But wary of only buying sleepsuits in case that's silly... advice please?!

MaisieDotes · 24/11/2015 16:48

clara Brixton hicks feel different for different people, but for me it's a tightening of my whole abdomen, accompanied by a tight feeling up around my throat and jaw. Bump goes rock hard during a bh contraction, and it lasts about 20 seconds. When I get them I usually get a run of a few together.

I've been having them for about the last 5 or 6 weeks and if this pregnancy is anything like my last they'll increase in intensity towards the end and become quite painful for a week or so before the birth to the point where they sort of merge into the first labour pains.

monk I call bodysuits vests, they go under whatever the baby is wearing. Usually for the first few weeks I would just use a vest (bodysuit) with a babygro over that. Shops call babygros "sleep suits".

When it's cold I'd put a vest and socks, then babygro over that, then a cardigan. You can get long-sleeved vests too if you want.
