Just back from 12 week scan. All good in there! Phew.

nehagarg · 23/11/2015 18:43

Good to know I am not alone in the love for maternity pants. Grin

Glad all is well Mrspopper

Belvedere · 23/11/2015 18:44

I've just bought myself a new pack of granny pants, can't wait to break them open!

PrincessPunzie · 23/11/2015 19:42

Congrats to today's scan ladies! I've got the pre-scan blues today. Been going from nervous to teary to hopeless and back again. I sobbed on the phone to my mum earlier telling her what a terrible mother I was going to make, then managed to pick a huge fight with DH within minutes of him getting home. Argh! Two days left and it's my birthday in between - I massively want to forget it this year as my day of self-pity has left me behind with all my work and I can't celebrate whilst I feel like I'm holding my breath, but husband has the day off to spend with me. Lucky him, when I'm in such great spirits, ha! Did anyone else turn into a madwoman in the days before their scan?!

Mrspopper · 23/11/2015 19:44

I burst into tears as I walked into the scan room. Think it's normal for emotions to be all over the place!

PrincessPunzie · 23/11/2015 19:48

Aw bless you mrspopper I think tears are almost inevitable at some point before, during or after a scan!

vitalite · 23/11/2015 21:04

Place marking Smile

Rose2806 · 23/11/2015 21:06

I'm already feeling nervous as well as excited about my scan, good luck princess I'm sure you will be fine!

Keeping yourself busy with other things is difficult when still feeling sick, couldn't eat much of my dinner tonight, was convinced it tasted horrible while DH insisted it really wasn't! I think I've gone off curry which is annoying as it was one of my favorite foods!

Sorry if tmi but is anyone else finding it hard to drink enough water? I'm trying really hard to drink a good amount but can only take small sips when feeling nauseous, but even when I feel like I've had a good day my urine still looks really concentrated :-(

bikingintherain · 23/11/2015 21:33

rose I find that really cold water is easier to drink when I feel sick. I keep a couple of bottles in the fridge all the time. It might be worth giving it a try.

Belleboo23 · 23/11/2015 21:34

Rose I'm finding it like everything else...I have to fancy it. Drank quite a bit yesterday but today I've guzzled loads of milk now having a naughty can of coke to try and settle my stomach which usually helps me. Tummy does not like the fish I had for dinner!!

GuessHowMuchILoveGin · 23/11/2015 21:53

Can you crunch/suck ice, Rose?

I went off curry last time. DH was distraught...

emma85x · 23/11/2015 22:37

Glad it went well mrspopper

I hope you feel better soon Rose I had a banana milk today, really hit the spot! Might be worth a go.

Has anyone else not told anyone apart from their DH/DP? I'm waiting for my scan when I'll be 12+5 before I even tell my mum. Now worrying she'll be disappointed that I didn't tell her sooner! Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?!

Ps) missing white wine tonight!! Blush

JoMalones · 23/11/2015 22:50

So jealous of all those with their scans but such lovely pictures. Smile

I will be having a ELCS. - sunroof all the way for me! (Having both types of birth before I know which works for me personally!) we've also got four children to organise childcare for so a planned date works better for us!

For those past 11/12 weeks - have your symptoms got better?

iamdivergent · 24/11/2015 06:33

emma my DH? Sister and work know; think mum will be happy when I tell her but probably a bit miffed that I waited!

jbiscuits · 24/11/2015 06:41

emma last time round it was only my parents who knew before the scan (don't know my family medical history well enough!), but it was really nice to be able to tell everyone else with the scan photo. Maybe if you make sure your mum is the first to know, the first to see the scan photo etc, she might feel better.

Anyone else finding it's getting uncomfortable to sleep on their front? I was tossing and turning all night trying to find a different position to get comfy in Sad

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/11/2015 07:21

Scan day today. So nervous I barely slept :( luckily its at 10 so no waiting around all day

laughingGnomette · 24/11/2015 07:39

Good luck 17! Xx

BiffleRoo · 24/11/2015 07:44

belleboo I'm still waiting. 11+2 today and no sign of a scan date. Getting really impatient now and fed up of trying to hide my massive bump!

Sickness seems much improved but can still only eat/drink something if I really fancy it. Having said that I feel rather rough this morning. The exhaustion is what's killing me, it's like wading through mud all the time.

Belleboo23 · 24/11/2015 07:53

I'm not alone then biffle maybe we will hear today! I still get nausea and struggle with what I fancy to eat, have been so lucky and not actually thrown up once. My body is coping better at 36 than it did at 23 and 27!!
Emma only me and dh know we decided to wait for the scan and I worried if my mum knew she would let it slip to the kids and I want to wait until I know everything is ok before I tell them.

nehagarg · 24/11/2015 08:05

Jo - My symptoms have all but dissapeared since week 10/11. I am 13 now. Have a bit of a nose bleed and dizziness this morning.

jbiscuits - Me. Cant seem to get comfy on my front at all and dizzy on my back. Trying to get used to sleeping on my side now.

Good luck 17

mrsmugoo · 24/11/2015 08:29

Can anyone else really quite noticeably feel their transition to 2nd trimester? I'm only 11+5 but I suddenly feel so much more energetic, I have my motivation back and I'm suddenly craving salads and veggies again after stuffing my face with carbs and beige food for the last two months. And of course this tummy that's popped out!

Those with toddlers - are you suddenly feeling very emotional about not being able to give them your 100% attention? And he won't be my little one anymore? I just want to cradle him and I really missing him when he's at nursery (unheard of!!)

obsessedlex · 24/11/2015 08:50

Morning all - I've got crippling back pain - I had a nearly slipped disc s couple of years ago and this feels like that again. I know I can only take paracetamol but I can't find the dosage - is it like calpol every 4 hours?

Rose2806 · 24/11/2015 09:21

The normal paracetamol dose is 2 x 500mg tablets every 4 hours but no more than 4 doses in 24 hrs. In pregnancy they seem to advise using the lowest effective dose so you could try to wean it down if possible.

Thanks for the water advice everyone, I have a jug that fits in the fridge so will try that. Also hoping you can't overdose on watermelon as I'm steadily working my way through one at the moment!

I normally sleep on my side anyway but after I've got up in the night to go to the toilet I'm finding it really hard to settle again, can't get comfortable and worrying that not sleeping well is going to affect the baby which makes it a vicious cycle!

obsessedlex · 24/11/2015 09:26

Thanks rose - I've already had 2 doses today - took some at 5 am and again at 9 - to be honest it hasn't really made any difference.

I found cold or hot drinks were easier to stomach than room temp when I was feeling sick. Peppermint tea also helped me.
Hope you feel better X

Dirtycat · 24/11/2015 09:36

There are so many comments on here that ring true for me at the moment. I'm 10+2 and felt great yesterday morning, had a great day at work then got home and just crumbled - literally sobbing for hours, about what, I'm not sure. I'm paying for a scan on Thursday because I can't have my NHS scan until 14 weeks, so maybe it's nerves in case something is wrong on Thursday. Woke up with crazy stomach pains in the night. I'm sleeping on my side and I woke up with my bump hurting, as if it isn't being properly supported. If everything is ok Thursday I'm going to buy one of those massive maternity pillows on the way home. Sickness and tiredness seems to have all but vanished so I'm just left sitting on an emotional roller coaster with achy boobs.

Good luck for the scan today and massive congratulations to everyone who has had their scan xx
