I'm being a chicken and opting for a c section after an emergency one last time, not sure I want to have a contraction again (but I was induced so they were pretty strong and terrible)
And. Have borderline GD last time (which I didn't need to control) so consultant led all the way this time.
I was so upset about it all in my last pregnancy and had imagined a water birth etc. but it was fine in the end, more scans and a healthy baby at the end.

dollydaydream84 · 23/11/2015 12:52

VBAC - Vaginal birth after Caesarean :)

I would love a VBAC (& was told I could have one) because I loved the labour experience and I'm scared of missing out on it this time. But I feel too worried about it all going wrong again (baby wouldn't descend due to massive head - had fully dilated and pushed for 2 hours) and having to go through 24 hours of full blown labour to then have another EMCS. I'd rather just have a planned section.

mrsmugoo that does sound frustrating when everything else was so "normal" for you :(

mrsmugoo · 23/11/2015 13:00

I guess what the ELCS has taught me is that you just have to do what is safest for baby even if that doesn't fit with your imagined view of the perfect birth.
I would like to avoid another c sec because I don't want to he incapacitated looking after my toddler, no other reason really. C secs aren't scary and at least you get your baby with no drama!

cheshirem2b · 23/11/2015 13:19

mrsmugoo I would love a normal delivery this time for the same reason... cannot be incapacitated with a toddler! I was really calm about labour last time - I think I knew the odds were against me... borderline GD diet controlled, extra monitoring due to fluid levels, induction... enough said! what will be will be and as long as everyone is ok at the end that is all that matters.
amiseeingright congratulations! Lovely scan picture!

laughingGnomette · 23/11/2015 13:34

Congrats AmISeeing! What a lovely picture. Of course you can stay here Grin

amiseeingright that's a lovely scan pic you've got there , congratulations xxx

Thanks for explaining VBAC dolly lol, I still managed to deliver ds naturally however it was just a bit of an emergency situation towards the end, I'm hoping they just monitor and if baby's looking on the big side maybe induce at my due date rather than the option of a c section, the recovery time is my issue - I was back to work four days after giving birth last, although I didn't realise I was breaking the law until the midwife told me off rather sternly haha xx

Torfhinn · 23/11/2015 14:01

Congratulations on the great scan amiseeingright! I'm glad you are starting to enjoy things now. I alternate between being terrified of two under 2 (almost) and being so excited that I'm creating another person as amazing as my son Grin

magicducky, if it's not too late, definately try to get some anaesthetic cream, then you won't feel a thing. Otherwise, Flowers and breathe Smile

The GTT is usual at 28 weeks, I've only heard of it being done early if the is a previous history of GD....maybe it's just your trust? Might be worth checking if you get another test later on as often it won't present until later in the pregnancy.

Glad your mum is stable and in a safe place neha, she's lucky to have you looking out for her!

12 weeks today! Only 1 week until scan Grin

amysmummy12345 · 23/11/2015 14:18

Hi all waves can I come and join in the fun?!
Due approximately 12 juneish... Got 12 week scan next Monday on 30th Nov, looking forward to seeing the lil gummy bear again (had 12 wk scan 3 weeks ago and turns out I was only 9 weeks lol) spend most of my time over at the hyperemesis board moaning about vomiting and nausea, hope this eases off soon, I want to desperately be excited about this pregnancy!!!!

emma85x · 23/11/2015 15:23

amiseeingright Beautiful photo, congratulations!

MagicDucky · 23/11/2015 15:39

Hey guys thanks for the advice! Sadly too late for anaesthetic cream (getting this for next time), but I managed it this time, no fainting or puking! Result!! My friend said to wriggle my toes while I did it! Thought she was mad but it worked better than I'd hoped still felt a bit iffy and had to sit down for ten minutes after but it was nowhere near as bad as before!

Lovely scan picture amiseeingright!!

bikingintherain · 23/11/2015 15:52

Congratulations amiseeing! Such a great picture.

I had major baby brain today. I completely forgot to pick DD up from school. Her teacher had to call me! I've never done that before! Thankfully DD was all chilled out as she got to hang out with her favorite teacher on her own for an extra half hour.

bikingintherain · 23/11/2015 15:54

Oh and well done magic sounds like you coped really well! Wiggling toes it is for me too!

MagicDucky · 23/11/2015 16:46

Hehe thanks biking o feel so illy but I'm super chuffed haha! Treated my self to a cake! The toe wiggling really worked!

Torfhinn · 23/11/2015 17:06

Well done magic! Glad it wasn't too bad for you, enjoy the Cake

Welcome to everyone new, glad you could join us Smile

Rose2806 · 23/11/2015 17:10

Just had my booking appointment, midwife was lovely and reassured me that a scan at 11+3 will be fine :-) pleased I can get excited now that we will see the baby a week on Friday!!

Well done magic, I can cope with blood tests but don't like them very much (DH was making faces at me when it was happening today lol) so will also try wriggling toes next time!

I also had baby brain a couple of days ago, was taking a baked potato out of the oven and put my bare hand straight on the skewer...

Belleboo23 · 23/11/2015 17:19

Lovely scan picture amiseeingright!
The nhs played a cruel joke on me today got a brown nhs envelope ripped it open all excited.....it was my maternity exemption card Sad just want my scan date! Anyone else still waiting?

MollieRos · 23/11/2015 17:36

Lovely scan picture AmI!

I'm so in awe of everyone going through pregnancy with a toddler (or two!) already at home- I just don't know how you're managing! I'm hoping I toughen up a bit if we every have another one, it's flipping exhausting being pregnant, I can't imagine having to look after little ones at the same time!

mrsmugoo · 23/11/2015 17:40

Mollie I remember saying the same thing on my antenatal thread last time! But honestly once you have had a baby and you go through the punishing sleep deprivation you just sort of get used to always running around after their needs and yours come second. I think it does toughen you up.

Plus I have to say my DS is very good and not really too much trouble at all. He sleeps 12 hours a night and has done for the last year...so I've kind of forgotten about broken nights sleep.

nehagarg · 23/11/2015 18:01

Brilliant scan pic AmISeeingRight - glad you are beginning to enjoy your pregnancy now. Really becomes more real at this point.

Bought my first ever pair of maternity jeans today. Aaaaah comfort! I am NEVER taking them off! Grin

bikingintherain · 23/11/2015 18:07

Nehagarg I'm sure I've heard people tell me they stayed in their maternity jeans 2 years after the baby was born. And not that they hadn't lost any weight, more they just were too comfortable!

mrsmugoo · 23/11/2015 18:08

I stayed in my maternity jeans embarrassingly long Confused and the massive c section granny pants

bikingintherain · 23/11/2015 18:21

There's no shame here mrsmugoo. We will shout from the rooftops and be proud of our impending granny pants!

GuessHowMuchILoveGin · 23/11/2015 18:25

I like to have a nice break from the toddler by working full time shift work in a different city. Wink

I am wearing some lovely maternity pyjama bottoms right now which I never stopped wearing even though the boy was born over two years ago . So comfy.

Snowflake16 · 23/11/2015 18:32
