obsessed I managed to persuade my student Midwife to listen for the heartbeat at 11 weeks and she couldn't find it. .. I can assure you that the next 2 weeks were torture waiting for my scan where thankfully there was a healthy baby. Honestly I wouldn't recommend it!

Osirus · 05/12/2015 23:14

I finally have my scan date - 8th December. I'll be 12w4d. I had to chase it up last week and it turns out they hadn't received the referral. I'm so glad I chased it!

laughingGnomette · 06/12/2015 01:03

obsessed - yes, I had bleeding at 14wks in my last pregnancy. The nurse scanned me and could see old blood in the womb which was what had caused the bleed. Absolutely no problems with the baby.

Thanks for all the advice. I've not had any more bleeding since and although all other symptoms seem to have stopped, I'm going to try to relax and assume the best and hope it's just cause I've reached 12weeks. I can see how that would have been much worse babysocks not to find heart beat at all, so I'm not going to push her to do it. Fingers crossed for weds. 😁

Hi everyone, I've been reading the thread from the beginning but been too nervous to post. I've loved reading everyone's good news though and have taken a lot of advice from all of you.

I've finally reached 12 weeks today but it's not been an easy road: I've had hyperemesis (which is now thankfully easing off) but have also been hospitalised for a substantial DVT (which they thought had caused a PE but luckily doesn't seem to have). I'm home now and receiving treatment but was wondering if anyone has any experiences of DVTs in pregnancy. I didn't have any of these problems last year with my DS (now 10 and a half months old) and I don't fit any of the risk factors other than pregnancy.

Also still waiting for a first scan - despite being in hospital for nearly 3 days and being tested for all sorts - the one check I actually wanted they wouldn't perform and so I have to wait till Friday to know if everything is ok.

Hopefully I've not jinxed anything by joining now but any advice/similar experiences would be gratefully received.

MadrigalElectromotive · 06/12/2015 09:22

Welcome Alt! Sorry you've been so ill. I've also got hyperemesis so you have my complete sympathy there. The DVT sounds horrendous - must have been really alarming. Good luck for your upcoming scan!

MadrigalElectromotive · 06/12/2015 09:25

As for me, DH is in complete nesting mode and has painted the sitting room, and has plans to do the rest of the house before the baby comes. I have been contributing nothing apart from encouraging noises every so often. I am still feeling more stable with the hyperemesis than I have previously so enjoying not feeling like I'm going to vomit at any moment! Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday, and that none of our northern or Scottish members are suffering from the awful flooding.

Torfhinn · 06/12/2015 09:50

Morning all,welcome alt!

Sorry, no experiences with dvt but glad you have come through the worst and good luck for that magic scan next week Smile

My back/pelvic pain is back with a vengeance and I'm struggling to move around today. Feeling more and more like a bony problem rather than muscle or nerve so i think it's pregnancy related. Slightly worried about how bad is going to get as I'm only 14 weeks Hmm

Hope everyone else is having a lovely Sunday, hope those of you up north are ok.

AltCarbon · 06/12/2015 10:07

Thanks guys, hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday and with minimal sickness, aches and pains.

nehagarg · 06/12/2015 11:42

Happy sunday everyone. Hope all the northerners are okay.

Welcome Alt Smile The DVT sounds horrible. Glad you are through the worst though.

Speaking if DVT, I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. 3 days ago I suddenly started experiencing pain in my shin muscles in my left leg at a certain point. Lasted a couple of days and was bad enough that I was limping around. Yesterday morning it suddenly dissapeared and all was well until last night when after a long walk, the pain got much worse. I noticed that it has moved 3-4 inches lower to the joint between the front of my leg and foot.

I wqs convinced it was a sprain (thiugh dont remember twisting my leg or foot) until the pain moved 3 inches. I dont have redness or warm skin and only very slight swelling. Anyone heard of anything like this? Cold packa seem to help it but I am not sure whether to talk to GP about it or just let it pass

Sorry for the long ramble.

nehagarg · 06/12/2015 11:43

Sorry about all the typos. Long posts and tiny keyboards on phones dont mix. Sad

Lovelybeano · 06/12/2015 12:17

Hi alt

nehagarg if it's worrying you, nip to your gp, it's better to get it checked if you're concerned.

Had an awful day yesterday, just a bit down and fed up, for no reason other than worrying if Thursday's going to be ok. I've gone off food again, can't even decide what to eat and everything I do eat tastes like poop. On a positive note, the Xmas tree is up and the pressie wrapping has begun!!!

MollieRos · 06/12/2015 13:26

Welcome alt Smile sounds like you've had a rough time so far, I hope things start getting a bit easier for you!

nehagarg I would also suggest checking with the GP. Our surgery do telephone consultations so you don't take up an appointment slot, maybe your surgery do those?

We met up with friends yesterday for a christmas meal, we only stayed out till about 10pm but I'm so tired today! I wasn't really much up for socialising, not helped by throwing my delicious roast dinner straight back up again, so I'm really hoping people didn't think I was being too much of a misery! We're out again tonight (very unusual for us- we're usually proper hermits!) when actually all I want to do is stay on the sofa under a blanket with my book!

nehagarg · 06/12/2015 13:37

GP it is then. I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks everyone.

AltCarbon · 06/12/2015 14:44

I'm glad you decided to go to the GP nehagarg - I was going to recommend it too as I put mine down to just a strain and by the time I got it checked it meant a 2 day stay in hospital. I'm sure yours will be fine but I've learned it's better to get these things seen early and it turn out to be nothing rather than wait and see what develops. I was told they'd much rather see someone and rule it out than someone get ill because they were worried about wasting time.

Torfhinn · 06/12/2015 16:42

I agree with alt, neha - it's unlikely to be a dvt as that generally presents with calf pain, swelling and redness but it's definately best to get checked out. As alt knows all too well, you are at higher risk of dvt in pregnancy.

I'll take my nursey hat off now and get back to complaining about my back Grin

nehagarg · 06/12/2015 16:44

Thanks Alt. Dont think its DVT but the fact that the pain is moving around and dissapearing and then coming back with a vengeance that's a bit strange. I am no stranger to knocks, bruises and broken bones but never have any of my aches moved house! Xmas Confused

I'll call the GP tomorrow and hobble in to see them.

nehagarg · 06/12/2015 16:45

I agree Torfhinn. Are you able to move around at all? Does it come and go?

nehagarg · 06/12/2015 16:52

This was on my pregnancy app today. Still chuckling. Xmas Grin

iamdivergent · 06/12/2015 16:57

Eurgh feeling rough today. Brought breakfast up (first I've been sick since last Monday though so not too bad) but have felt rough ever since. Exhausted too as slept really badly, might ask DH to get me a pregnancy pillow for Christmas - romantic! Dinner almost ready, starving but rolling stomach please let it stay down.

Scan tomorrow - anyone else?!

amysmummy12345 · 06/12/2015 17:14

Detailed scan and cvs test tomorrow, wish me luck ladies, hope everyone's had a good weekend xxx

iamdivergent · 06/12/2015 17:29

Fingers crossed amysmummy

Torfhinn · 06/12/2015 17:34

I'm still learning about the pain, certain movements set it off and is like being stabbed in the lower back, then it just aches. I'm moving tentatively and trying to remember what i do that makes it bad! Gonna call the midwife tomorrow and see if i can get a physio referral.

Good luck tomorrow divergent, the long wait is nearly over!

Torfhinn · 06/12/2015 17:37

Good luck tomorrow amy, we'll all be thinking of you x

GrubbyWindows · 06/12/2015 17:59

Oooo amy good luck!!
You will be going in with a great cloud of good wishes all about you!

I am having a massive wardrobe clear out, in preparation for getting a fourth person into this rather small flat. Who was the genius, way back in the first thread, who set to clearing out as soon as she got her BFP??? At the time I though it was all a bit previous, but now I'm just in awe. Getting it done before the knackeredness starts! True wisdom. I'm guessing it was one of the mothers of 2+. Whoever you are, I admire you wildly!!!

torfinn ouf that sounds grim. I hope it clears up asap!!!!!
