Just had another scan, as they thought liver looked large (all related to my son's cancer). Have been sh*tting myself about there being a problem. Sooooo relieved - lovely Professor reassured us that everything looks fine. I feel like a cloud has been lifted

Has confirmed that baby is BIG - current weight estimate is just under 8lbs at 34+4 weeks!!!!!! OMG!!! Will be posting some big baby questions on the childbirth section soon!

PS have joined the great weigh in - put on 2 and a half stone - not great considering that I was no skinny bunny before hand!

Galmum · 20/12/2006 17:40

PPS Welcome to the newcomers

Loubie37 · 20/12/2006 17:57

Wow Galmum - that IS big!! I had a growth scan today as I'm measuring 42 weeks at 35+3 and they estimated that mine is around 7lb at the moment...have they said they'll be inducing you early?

Congrats by the way on the good scan results, you must be so relieved

Loubie xx

wilkie50 · 20/12/2006 18:55

OK, OK - all this talk of weight gain is quite depressing.

MUCH MORE FUN.....

Measure round your waist and bump with loo paper!! I currently stand at 8 sheets (35.5 weeks). I challenge you all!!!!

xxxxxx

Dragonhart · 20/12/2006 18:59

Glad scans went well Loubie and Gallum. Must be a great releif for you, although that does sound big Gallum!

Thanks to everyone for the weight info. Makes me feel a bit better that some of you have not put on so much weight as last time I put on plenty. Assumed that as I had not put on so much, I was going to have a light baby but maybe not!

Had a crap day. Spent it finnishing my christmas shopping so have been on my feet all day. Was in M&S, waiting for my mum to buy something and DS was protesting loudly when three grumpy old women sat next to me started going on about how horrible it is when children scream in shops and how 'it didnt happen in my day' and we were brought up to behave properly'. For f*ck sake, he is only one! What kind of weird children did they have that didnt ever make any noise. Walked away and said 'dont be so miserable, he is only one' then when I had got out of the shop, burstinto preg tears and couldnt stop for about half an hour!

Going to see Casino Royale tonight as an early bday treat for DH. Will be glad to sit down and relax!

Hope everone else ok. xxx

elliepmummy · 20/12/2006 19:14

Right wilko I am 8.5 sheets so must be plumper than you (have put on around 2 stone mainly dueto complete laziness and eating crap and chinese had my growth scan on monday at hospital and she weighs 5lb 6oz at 36 weeks an having her within 2weeks so should be around 7-8lb which is nice (dd was 7lb 10) Right am going to attempt to trawl this thread and update the due/born list

Absolutely PMSL Wilkie! Am 8.5 at 35+3 (are all toilet paper sheets the same size, BTW?)
Sorry about your crap day, DH. Some people really are miserable. Lets face it, in their day they used to just shove the babies in prams at the bottom of the garden and ignore them, at least we interact with our kids. Hope the cinema was good.
Really good news about the scan, Galmum and glad yours went well too Loubie.
Coffeebeanz - poor ds hope he's not too sore.

35 + 3, 8.5 sheets!

PMSL

Hattie2 · 20/12/2006 22:33

11 sheets LTH . I feel positively slender now, 'only' 10 sheets at 37 + 5!

Galmum · 21/12/2006 09:03

Not joining in the toilet paper test - I know my bump is huge and don't want to think about it too much!! Hey it looks big, feels big and the scans say it is big. I'm sure the scientific bog roll test will only confirm it!!

wilkie50 · 21/12/2006 09:10

LTH in the lead - come on Galmum - what else can you possibly have to do with your time other than wrap yourself in loo roll???

2Happy - all loo roll is pretty much the same size methinks. DH walked in the bathroom whilst I was measuring, raised and eyebrow (didn't even bother asking 'why') and walked out again

coffeebaubles · 21/12/2006 10:34

This is so funny - much respect LTH !!

Mine measured 5 , and each ankle measured 3 !!!

Just joking 8.5 (and cant reach the ankles).

Actually the support tights seem to be helping, that combined with refusing to do much yesterday.

Great news about the scan Galmum.

Old people are always miserable when there are little ones about, we should take note from European countries who treasure their little ones. Try not to dwell on it, its not worth the effort.

In case I dont post again 'Happy Christmas Everybody'

Lizzz · 21/12/2006 11:11

8.5 sheets at 37+4 cool - I have a normal sized bump!

Its my birthday today, cant believe I will be turing 31 sober. OMG! So depressing.

But, to brighten up the day I got a lovely surprise this morning when my DP gave me an engagement ring! Maybe my thirties wont be so bad after all!

All I need now is the baby to arrive today and it will be a day I never forget!

Lizzz · 21/12/2006 11:12

btw - fingers so fat ring didnt fit on ring finger. so its a pinky ring till the baby is born!

Hattie2 · 21/12/2006 12:01

Congratulations Lizzz - great news . Was it a surprise? How romantic!

Aww Lizzz, happy birthday and congratulations that's great news
Wilkie, your dh sounds fab - comes in, raises eyebrow, leaves...
ds finally starting to conquer the germs today, but then tripped up and hit his head on the corner of the wall and split his head open , don't know who was crying more, him or me!! Do they sell cycle helmets to fit 18m olds?

theUrbanDryadWithSparklyWings · 21/12/2006 14:17

well hello all! sorry not been on for a while, have been very anti social in general due to tiredness and grumpiness. can't remember the last time i had slept through the night. last night was particularly bad, DH fell asleep on the sofa at about nine, depsite my best efforts to rouse him, then woke me up when he came to bed at about two, all grumpy cause i hadn't woken him up and i didn't really sleep after that! argh!!!! so tired...

had a lovely trip to the fracture clinic with my mum today, they've just "noticed" that she also broke her thumb when she had her fall. bonus! although the shoulder is well on the mend, so we shouldn't complain really...who's DH broke their arm? how's he getting on?

congrats ELM!!! when can we see a picture? i want to jump and down and shout ME NEXT ME ME ME like a small child desperate to be picked for the sports team. had a home visit from the MW yesterday, everything's fine and i'm still ok to have a home birth so long as this baby hangs on till after christmas! then i'll be 37 weeks and it'll all be ok. baby did give MW a bit of a kicking when she was poking us though, don't think he likes being poked!

anyway, nothing new to report...welcome to the newbies. hope everyone has a lovely christmas if i don't post before then!! xxx

jennie80 · 21/12/2006 14:30

Im about 9 sheets at 40weeks 3days, but baby has dropped. Maybe i'll be able to have a drink by xmas or at least new year. Does anyone have any labour tips as i'm a first time mum.

theUrbanDryadWithSparklyWings · 21/12/2006 14:43

everyone who knows me knows that i'm obsessed with miriam stoppard, and she says that if you go into labour believing nothing will go wrong, then very little will go wrong....

2HappyTurtleDoves · 21/12/2006 14:48

Well that's me stuffed then !

wilkie50 · 21/12/2006 14:57

I want to join in the banter but my boss has just come and sat right next to me (he's just gone to make himself a coffee - hence the quick post)!!!! I want to tell him to bugger off!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Lizzz and happy birthday. I only got married in July and already am having to leave my wedding ring off due to fat fingers
