Ok, baby has had hiccupps for the last 30 minutes...am trying to convince myself they are definately hiccupps and not contractions starting! Tens machine arrives this morning.

Its starting to sink in that the due date is 2 and a half weeks away! OMG

Jennie - a couple of people have said the same to me about what Urban posted - positive thinking etc...but I cant help thinking that if I expect the absolute worse, then when that doesnt happen I will feel much more positive about the whole situation!
Good luck though, I am hugely jealous of you being able to have a few drinks over New Years.

Thanks to all for your congratulation!

Hattie2 · 21/12/2006 16:04

Hooray - I've just finished work!! Got a big card with lots of lovely comments and well wishes and an envelope of vouchers which I'm dying to open but seems a bit rude to count it in front of everyone . It does seem to be a very thick envelope though - maybe they just bought £1 vouchers

muppet3 · 21/12/2006 16:27

2 weeks to go now We're all doing so well. I just wanted to wish all you lovely ladies a lovely, joyful Christmas without people phoning you each day asking if it's come yet! (Go away mum ... do you really think I'd have not texted if it had all kicked off?!)

Eat lots, drink sensibly and enjoy whatever comfortable bits of the day/night you can find (At least Christmas tree lights are nice to look at when you're roaming the house at 3am.

elliepmummy · 21/12/2006 17:03

Aaaa congratulations Lizz and happy birthday

had a great day with dd been to soft play centre with couple of friends all the kids played nicely and behaved, ate ther lunch and generally left us to have a good chat for 3 hours bliss.

My mum picking us up tomorrow to pop into town first thing and pay all Jan bills early just in case buba arrives and don't have time and then we are going to the local garden centre because they have a real reindeer which dd keeps going on about.

Am actually getting excited about xmas now and can't wait till we take dd to see father christmas at leeds castle on sunday, meet the elves and fairies and board santa express train, see pantomine (only 25 mins long fab!!) and then private audience with the man himself (although going with godchildren so the 3 of them will see him together) Ive been waiting years to feel christmassy and at last having a 2 year toddler it does!!

Shimmer · 21/12/2006 17:53

Hi all. Congratualations Lizz! I've just got back from a very long and rather stressfull lunch with relatives. 3 of my cousins have had babies in the last year so I was bombarded with advice on what I should and shuoldn't be doing and expecting and all that - which I actually found quite annoying and as much as I'm looking forward to my own one arriving I've never been that good at gushing over other people's babies!!

Also after a pretty easy pregancy so far I've started getting really bad pains that are basically mainly around my left bum cheek!! They started about 3/4 days ago as a dull sort of ache but seems to have progressvely got worse so now I am getting shotting pains through my left buttock and the top of my leg and finding it really difficult to walk without limping. I have read a bit about PGP, so guess it might be this, although not really sure because it's all round at the back(side!) not the front at all. And it only really hurts when I walk. Was wondering whether it's worth bothering the m/w with? I'm seeing her in a week anyway, so there's no way she'll be able to see me before then anyway. Any advice anyone? I still have Christmas to deal with I can't just stop walking for the next 3 weeks!

Really want to go and measure my bump with loo roll now but I know walkng to the toilet will be too painful,so maybe later!

Tillypup · 21/12/2006 18:49

I've had PGP from around 19/20 weeks, people kept going on about it being sciatica but apparently if the pain doesn't go below the knee if is more likely to be PGP. Apparently sometimes the pain can move from side to side but for me it has always been on the same side. The best advice I got (from a physio friend) was to suck in all my tummy/core muscles and when walking tuck my bum in under me, and really concentrate on good posture. That all seemed to really help me and also mean I haven't had to resort to a pelvic girdle or anything like that! I find it worst when I stand still as I have a tendancy to slouch.

Oh, 8.5 sheets for me at 37 + 1.

RGee · 21/12/2006 19:02

Happy birthday Lizzz and congrats! What a lovely birthday present.
Loved the loo roll measurement! 8 sheets (just) at 37 +6.
Hurrah to all those who finished work today or tomorrow!

Dragonhart · 21/12/2006 19:21

Got a letter from the hospital telling me that I have a scan booked for the 28th Dec. A scan that should not have been made as I had it last week when I had my hospital appt! No wonder NHS has no money! Appart from that, the scan was a growth scan as they were worried I was too small so having it when I would be 38 weeks, 2 weeks after hospital appt and one week before my section seems a bit ridiclous to me as surly if there had been a prob it would be a bit late really!

Congratulations Lizz and happy birthday! What a lovely day, hope you have a lovely evening.

Getting really panicked about the fact that in the last week my lovely DS has changed into a stroppy toddler. He is not two yet!!! It is not fair!! Tantrums, hitting me, refusing to have his nappy changed, get into his car seat, buggy or trolly. oh my god! I am about to have another child! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Dragonhart · 21/12/2006 19:21

Oh and I am 9 sheets so cant be that small!!

trixymalixy · 21/12/2006 20:54

Congrats Lizzz and happy birthday!!

yay! Finished work today and got loads of nice pressies and some Mothercare vouchers.

Feel a bit sad, which is ridiculous as I have been looking forward to this day for months and months!!

OonaghBhuna · 21/12/2006 20:59

Congratulations Lizz on the sparkly
My mum came round today to help with the cleaning so at long last i feel i can relax a little. DH finishes work tomorrow for a month so am really looking forward to that. We relized after DD that he hadnt taken enough time off especially since having an emergency c/s. So it will be great to have him at home to help with the new baby but also to entertain DD who seems to have started the terrible twos at 19 months!!!
I have had the same pain in my bottom for the last week but I think it can also be caused by the position of the baby, so hopefully it will move a little so the pain can subside!!!

Shimmer · 21/12/2006 22:10

Thanks for the advice on the bottom pain!I've been doing lots of swaying on hands and knees today in the hope that maybe it'll shift the baby slightly and relieve the pain a little bit. Feel like the best thing would be a LARGE glass of red wine to take my mind off it...but sticking to raspberry leaf tea at the moment.

Loo roll measurement 9 (and a quarter!)sheets at exactly 37 weeks. I was told a while ago that the little chap was a bit big but that doesn't seem too enormous, so that's good. God I'm SOOOO ready to have this baby now!

DP just came out of the loo looking very upset, apparently he's measureing 9 loo roll sheets as well!!!!

annieapple7 · 21/12/2006 22:45

And its Annieapple coming up on the inside...there's LTH at 11 sheets, but Annieapple is 10 sheets....OMG!! But bizarrely I am measuring right for the date (34 weeks). Perhaps its because I bought Charmin loo roll instead of Andrex. I certainly have not weighed myself - too depressing. I put on 3 stone on DS1 and 21/2 with DS2.
Why I am still up anyway, I should be lying next to DH listening to him snoring...
Thinking of you all ladies...to think we will all have babies next month!!

TinsellyRhino · 21/12/2006 22:51

hi all, terribly sorry I haven't been in for gaes
Hope everyone is ok, sorry can't possibly try to catch up

BUT I have to know........ What on earth is this toliet paper thing about and can I join in??

Harry2007 · 21/12/2006 23:08

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas.

I think I have posted on this thread before but I can't be positive - anyway, I'm due on 28th January offcically, but am having a CS at around 38 weeks.

Just measured my bump with Charmin - 8 sheets at 35 weeks. For the record Annieapple, Charmin sheets are slightly smaller than Andrex - I've just checked!

lulu25 · 22/12/2006 09:01

Eight sheets. Sainsbury's recycled.

Was pleased with modest weight gain (8kg) but have suddenly piled on another couple of kilos in the last two weeks - isn't it supposed to slow down a bit now? (36 weeks)

2HappyTurtleDoves · 22/12/2006 09:12

I thought this toilet paper thing couldn't get any funnier, and then Shimmer's DP proves me wrong, ROFPMSLMAO!!

LadyTophamHatt · 22/12/2006 10:02

aha....I was 11 sheets of charmin so maybe I'm not so vast!!

wilkie50 · 22/12/2006 11:00

I second that 2Happy - Shimmer I just laughed out loud in my office so all work colleagues now looking at me strange!!!!

I just have this image of all of these huge pregnant women all across the country scuttling off to the loo and wrapping themselves in toilet paper. PMSL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a different note - thought my Xmas pressie was going to arrive early at 3am. Woke up with pains every 10 minutes and bump going VERY tight. Laid awake for an hour counting between contractions then they died off at about 4.45am - must have been BH? They were bloody painful though. Any thoughts?? DH, bless him, went back to sleep during this to 'conserve his energy' in case I had started in labour.

Harry2007 · 22/12/2006 11:31

LOL at "conserve his energy"

Any more pains Wilkie?

annieapple7 · 22/12/2006 11:50

Thanks Harry, feel better it was Charmin not Andrex. Must get DH measured. I suspect he will beat us all (but he is 6'8" tall). Thinking of you Wilkie...with my first pregnancy my contractions started in the night, then completely died away by the morning but then started again that night and baby came at 5 am.
I have a question: Why are most babies born in the night? Does anyone know?

theUrbanDryadWithSparklyWings · 22/12/2006 12:06

well i measure at 8 sheets (just) at 36+5, thought i was a bit titchy, but it would seem not. yay! i no longer have bump envy! that was tesco's own brand recycled, by the way...

i'm soooo spotty at the moment, also just developed lovely rash all over boobs. i think it may be heat/sweat rash from being too hot at night, but i'm not sure. it's a bit gross anyway...i'm so sick of being fat and spotty, just want to be slim and beautiful again (yeah right!). just keep telling myself, "it'll be worth it in the end, it'll be worth it in the end..."

Galmum · 22/12/2006 12:09

Okay!!! I could n't resist any longer - 11 sheets (Sainsbury's own brand - yes cheapskate!) at 34+6 weeks. I think I may be just behind LTH.

Galmum · 22/12/2006 12:10

PS Forgot to ask - what does 4/5 mean in the engagement section of my notes? I think it means they can still feel 4/5 of bubba's head, therefore I'm 1/5 engaged???

Is that right??

Harry2007 · 22/12/2006 12:12

Galmum, I could be wrong, but I think that means 4/5 engaged. Don't take my word for it though - perhaps someone else will know for definite.
