biking I wasn't tidied up and it could have been v embarrassing!! But the sonographer was v professional and I had a sheet draped over me so it minimised the exposure! I was 7 weeks.

violet I had brownish spotting (at 7 weeks) and was told it was normal too. I had a scan and all was fine. If you are not in pain I think try not to worry too much. Having said that it's now 2.5 weeks since my scan and I'm back to being a nervous, unreassured wreck!!

I've had to put back my 12 week scan as really couldn't make the date they'd given-and it's 5 days later! I'll hate having to wait that extra 5 days!

PrincessPunzie · 03/11/2015 17:00

My scan was at 6+5 and was external and I'm a size 8/10, so I don't think it goes on your size. I don't think my EPU offer internal scans as standard though. Fingers crossed for all you ladies experiencing a bit of bleeding - I've had it on three occasions but the heartbeat was strong enough to see on the monitor at six weeks, so please don't panic too much, it's ever so common. That said, don't be shy about calling your midwife either as the EPU take any instance of bleeding seriously - you won't be made to feel daft or diva-esque in any way x

nehagarg · 03/11/2015 17:00

For sure Louise ... except when I get up to wee at night, I have to literally carry my giant boobs because without a bra they hang and hurt. Blush .. DH is obviously delighted Grin

louise - the thing they use for the internal scan is like a dildo with a condom on the end!! Sorry for being crude! They don't use a speculum or anything to hold you open like with a smear.

laughingGnomette · 03/11/2015 17:05

... a small dildo I might add! Blush

With my last pg I had a scan at 7 weeks due to bleeding. I am a size 14/16 so not skinny at all and they were able to see baby on an external scan.
I've had my date for my 12 w scan and it is on 25/11/15! Exciting!

Louise34567 · 03/11/2015 17:19

Ha ha nehagarg your post made me laugh. I relate!!

"laughingGnomette* thanks for the pic ... doesn't that go past your cervix though, to get a picture, and if so they must have to prise the cervix apart a bit..? Excuse my ignorance, this is my first pregnancy!

cheshirem congrats that you've got your scan soon!

MollieRos · 03/11/2015 17:27

Nehagarg Lovely and Louise I'm so bloated too! I had to resort to holding my jeans closed with a hair bobble round the button at work today to give me an extra inch of belly space... I couldn't wait to get home and get my pj's on! I was hoping to hold out for as long as possible before I had to buy any new clothes, but I'm just so uncomfortable at work. I have several dresses that I often wear to work that would be more comfy, except they will all show off my recently inflated stomach, and I haven't told everyone at work yet!

Violet fingers crossed the bleeding doesn't develop into anything more, it does seem like spotting and bleeding is so common. good that you could speak to your midwife and that she was so reassuring.

Potkettleblack2 · 03/11/2015 17:33

cheshire we're scan date twins!
louise my anatomy knowledge is shocking-but it didn't seem to go in v far at all! I don't know how it works but it really wasn't too uncomfortable!
I'm in a sports bra now every day, and am also feeling bloated. I think my manager is beginning to put 2+2 together!

obsessedlex · 03/11/2015 17:37

louise literally just the first 3-4 inches go in - honestly it's fine, much less traumatic than a smear!

Louise34567 · 03/11/2015 17:40

Thanks all for the reassurances!

laughingGnomette · 03/11/2015 17:58

Nope! No prising open of anything :)

carrie1008 · 03/11/2015 18:03

Hi Louise all of my previous scans were internal. I have a subseptate uterus so it takes a bit more digging around to get a good image, but even then it's only uncomfortable rather than painful. You have a paper sheet over you all the time so nothing is showing really and they make sure you are in a comfy position with your bum on the edge of the bed before they start.

Take some wet wipes with you to give yourself a freshen up after (they use a lot of jelly) and maybe a liner to wear in your knickers after.

Don't worry if you have a little spotting after, sometimes the wand will irritate the cervix, but this shouldn't be heavy.

I've had 5 of these so far so I'm an old hat at them!! good luck xx

JellyBaby26 · 03/11/2015 18:20

Scan all fine today. Measuring 8+2 rather than lmp of 8+5

Heard the heart beat and in love already!

BabySocks - I hope your scan went ok today xx

MollieRos · 03/11/2015 19:06

Jelly lovely scan picture!

mrslewis2015 · 03/11/2015 19:15

Congratulations for all the lovely scans! And welcome to the newbies! Hope your doing ok biffle Thanks

Im finally having a relatively low nausea day today, which is helpful as today at nursery (where I work) the children (and some grown ups!) decided to be incredible tricky!

Finger crossed it stays like this, just enough to know I'm still pregnant, but not enough to have my head in the loo!

Hope everyone else is doing ok! Can't wait to see more scans!

Violet88 · 03/11/2015 19:32

Jelly glad your scan went well, your little one is beautiful!!

There is now just some brown blood on the pad and when I wipe. I don't know how worried I should be??? I feel like I'm waiting for something to happen now. Reassuring reassurance scan was short lived!!

Hope everyone else is feeling okay? Biffle are you okay? has the bleeding stopped? x

cheshirem2b · 03/11/2015 19:52

Love all these early scans! So lovey!
potkettle scan twins! Let's see if due date twins too?

iamdivergent · 03/11/2015 20:19

jelly what a lovely scan pic Smile

Well I haven't been sick since I took my first tablet at 11am! Have kept down my lunch (sandwich and a glass of fresh lemonade) and dinner (chips and curry sauce cos that's all I fancied) I've no appetite though and am having to force myself to eat and drink. Been sucking ice cubes to try and keep fluids up.

Hope everyone else is doing OK x
