caterpillars my DH didn't feel like it was real last week until he saw it, I couldn't understand how he felt as I felt wretched and had thought of nothing else for 10 weeks, worried every time I wiped myself on the loo and was all consumed by it. However this time because I have had lots of other things going on (not least the toddler to keep me on my toes!) I feel like it will become real if/when I see it on the screen everything crossed My DH felt left out quite a bit I think, but mainly because of the way the midwives and hospital treated him. They found it unusual that he came to all the appointments with me and in hospital he was treated as though he was an extra rather than the father of the brand new baby (not that he expected to be treated like a patient but only Mums were allowed to hold the babies in the corridor, hospital policy for example..not Dads?! why not?!). Hopefully your OH will feel much more part of it when he can tell people, mine was proud as punch last time ringing everyone! :)

Belleboo23 · 17/11/2015 10:25

My dh is very good at being there for me he's so considerate but he finds the pregnancy thing hard. He's basically very squeamish about it all especially once baby starts kicking hes not keen to feel or anything. I found that hard with the other 2 sometimes because it can feel like he is almost repulsed by it all, don't think there's any way I can help him with getting past that!

GrubbyWindows · 17/11/2015 11:31

dolly thinking of you this morning!!!

DP is pretty involved- when I've been feeling totally wretched he's been reminding me that... Baby! Which is very sweet. He is calmer than me about the whole thing, and just trusts that it will all be fine, I'm a bit of a researcher...
Bit shocked re hospital only letting mums hold the baby!!! Mine was ace, and suggested DP did skin-to-skin with DS whilst I was having my stitches. I think it actually stood them in really good stead, they've been really close from the get go.

Hi ladies, just had my booking in appt, 12 week scan booked for 7th December! Seems like a milestone getting that booked in Smile

BiffleRoo · 17/11/2015 14:03

That's great news betty. I've got my booking in appointment tonight and really hope my scan date comes through quickly after. 10+2 today

dollydaydream84 · 17/11/2015 14:07

Good news Grin thankfully the scan went well and saw a wriggly jiggly bean on the screen. No obvious reason for the bleeding or pain. She initally looked at the screen and said "oh it's empty" - almost cried there and then thinking she meant the uterus/sac. Turns out my bladder was empty! A horrible moment. Thanks so much for all your good wishes, it means a lot when you can't share worries with anyone "real" :)

dollydaydream84 · 17/11/2015 14:12

good luck with booking in Biffle. 10+2 wow - that is getting close to the 12 week mark :)

Good luck for your scan Betty - my 12wk is the same week as yours.

Belleboo23 · 17/11/2015 14:12

So pleased dolly that's great news! That would have scared me aswell you think they would choose their words better!!

BiffleRoo · 17/11/2015 14:17

So pleased for you dolly hopefully you can relax a little now.

bikingintherain · 17/11/2015 14:21

Such good news Dolly! I'm so happy for you! But I can also understand a heart stopping moment, hopefully she won't make that mistake again and worry someone else.

Is anyone else craving junk food? I cannot stop thinking about a McDonalds burger, I HATE McDonalds food! I have to crack because I fear if I do it will be a very slippery slope to a habit!

cautiousoptimist1 · 17/11/2015 14:33

Fabulous news Dolly

Biking if your craving was anything like mine I'd say go for it and get it out of your system. I was craving a McDonald's for days so went after a doctors appointment (very healthy I know!) and it was rubbish! The craving was much better than the actual burger!

Lovelybeano · 17/11/2015 14:39

Fab news dolly xxx

Potkettleblack2 · 17/11/2015 14:40

Dolly that's great!
I am so restless for my scan now-it's a week tomorrow.
I am feeling rotten-but not pregnancy rotten-headache, sneezing and I think a bit of a temperature. I came home from work early as needed to lie down. I hate missing work though and feel so guilty.
I am craving anything salty-so yes to McD's. My healthier way to stave this off is to have a very soy-saucey chicken stir fry! Needless to say I still want junk after it though!

Belleboo23 · 17/11/2015 14:42

I rarely bother with McDonald's normally but have had their fries twice in the last week, think it's the salty thing haven't wanted any of the other food they do

MagicDucky · 17/11/2015 14:51

Had my booking appointment today, they told me they now do it in two parts! I went in and got a shed load of leaflets today and then I'll get my bloods and urine next week! I would have liked it this way the first time round but this time, because I already know what's what, I just wanted it done!! I ended up telling her to keep most of the leaflets and books because I already have them, having kept them from my first! Just felt like a giant waste of time!

And that means they won't send off to book my scan until next week. I hate this stage!!

bikingintherain · 17/11/2015 14:55

I'm going to take your advise cautious, seems like the only sensible thing to do. Grin

Let's hope it works the same for me as you, or any hope for not being the size of a house will go out the window. (It is quicker to walk to McD's than it is to pick up a pint of milk)

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/11/2015 15:12

Brillaint news 'Dolly* so happy for you that all is well

I keep craving (and giving in) to ready salted crisps such as hula hoops and French fries so yes to the salt.

The thought of chicken makes me queasy however and I can't drink orange juice without nearly being sick

bikingintherain · 17/11/2015 15:14

cateripllars, I'm utterly off juice too. All juices. I think it's because they're so acidic.

emma85x · 17/11/2015 15:25

Dolly so pleased your scan went well, you must be so relieved!

Okay so I've officially caved in and DH and I are going for an early private scan (£60) at 7pm this evening!!! I've wanted one since the day I found out I was pregnant but ever so nervous now!! I'm 9+4 today.

Louise34567 · 17/11/2015 15:42

I'm off chicken too. And most sweet things ... not craving chocolate anymore which is odd for me.

I have, however, discovered the joy of marmite on toast. Mmmmm

TattedPixie · 17/11/2015 15:50

So nice to hear your news Dolly.

I've got my booking appointment tomorrow morning so just wanting today to be over. Feel like I've got a little bump forming, I went into work yesterday and one of my friends said I actually look pregnant now. My stomach is feeling quite solid instead of its usual flabby feel. Start work in an hour so chilling on the sofa with my blanket

MiraclesDoHappen82 · 17/11/2015 16:27

Had my early scan this afternoon, gosh I was so nervous before hand but all is well. We seen a little Heat beat and I'm measuring 7+2 which is a couple of days behind what I thought. I'm so happy now Iv seen everything is ok ( having an IVF baby does make things more worrying). We are now discharged from the fertility clinic and referred to normal antenatal services :-)

Booking in appointment with midwife is next week 25th.

dollydaydream84 · 17/11/2015 17:39

Thanks so much you are all lovely. Off to tell the in laws tonight. Hadn't sunk in at all then I looked at the picture again :) just hope the next 4 weeks go as fast as the first 4. Hopefully all the rush of Christmas will keep us busy :)

Fab news miracles such a relief

Good luck emma

Good luck tatted do you have a scan tomorrow too? Our booking and scan are the same day here. Ahh wish I had a baby bump, I do look five months pregnant but it's all flab from the last one! I didn't get a proper bump until about 6 months last time even then it looked quite a lot like a bump with fat on top! Blush

If I get a McDonalds this week I'm blaming you lot! Skittles & salt and vinegar mccoys are getting me through feeling sick. Very concerned about impending weight gain from food but feel so sick that eating is taking priority.

MollieRos · 17/11/2015 18:06

Dolly I'm so pleased it went well for you Smile not great of the sonographer saying that though!

biking that's useful information with the UTI. I'm still going to the toilet loads, but I think a reasonable amount each time. The horrible sharp pain has eased today but I still feel absolutely awful. I have to take a urine sample to my scan next week so I'm sure they'd pick up any infection then.

mrsmugoo sorry about your DS. I had HF&M as an adult and it was awful, but I've known loads of kids who've had it and they don't seem to be nearly so ill with it and bounce back really quickly.

17 sounds like a lovely idea... I'm sure they'll be so pleased for you!

Miracles great news on your scan and good luck for yours emma

My DH is only finding it as strange as I am! Between us neither of us can quite believe that there's an actual baby in there (fingers crossed anyway, we'll find out for definite next week). Neither of us have quite processed that in 6-7 months or so we'll potentially have a baby to look after! So I don't think either of us are feeling properly connected to the pregnancy yet... though I'm obviously feeling the effects a lot!

Yes to salty food too, though I'm also loving juicy and sharp things too. Oh, and hummous. So if it's salty and I can dip it in hummous, I'm there. Just scoffed some ready salted crisps with half a tub Smile

laughingGnomette · 17/11/2015 18:08

Yay dolly and miracles on your scans :)
Good luck for tonight emma!!
2 weeks now until my 12wk scan - eek!!

My cravings haven't kicked in too badly yet. Last time it was around 20wks that it really took hold. If I couldn't get what I really craved when I craved it the world shook! Blush
