Dollydaydream .. Completely agree with you. If it weren't for the exorbitant prices in London, I would be all over the early scans. My last pregnancy ended in an mmc. 6 week old fetus discovered at almost 11 weeks. More than the fact that I had lost a baby, I was devastated because I had gone 5 weeks a happy bunny, never knowing what had already happened. I just couldn't deal with that.

MY DH says the exact same thing as yours and I do completely agree with him but I'd rather know.

To everyone discussing the lemon pops and tangy foods - Thanks - that's all I can think about now Grin

lemons ... its probably just your body getting used to the hormones and the placenta taking over. Never had bad morning sickness but I have felt oodles better since the day I hit 10 weeks. I am 11+4 now and all is well.

Welcome winterland ... Congratulations! Smile

I REALLY want hot, oozy buttery croissants right now ... seems the lemon-y ness didn't hit me ha ha ... oh dear ... !!

TattedPixie · 13/11/2015 10:45

I'm drinking Apple juice like it's going out of fashion! I've had 3 cartons in 2 and half days. Things are starting to taste weird for me too. Is that usual for pregnancy?

cautiousoptimist1 · 13/11/2015 10:48

I'm another first timer so thank you all for the reassurance too.

I'm feeling less nauseous today but hoping that it stays that way this time. Last time I was feeling ok, I was sick! Sweets do help with the nausea although I'm sure I should be eating something better.

I'm craving salty things - called my DH on the way home from work to see if he could get some popchips! Really random for me!

Louise34567 · 13/11/2015 10:50

I know what you mean with food cravings. I'm usually a health nut - don't eat dairy, wheat, meat etc ... but the other day I had to eat loads of sausage rolls. Now it's cheese sandwiches. And croissants. sigh it's quite distressing for me to want all this junk but I'm taking it as a reassurance; if I'm having weird cravings, it's a reminder to me that I really am pregnant!

lemonslemonslemons · 13/11/2015 11:14

I had the lemony thing for a bit with DD but nothing else. With this one I really want salt & vinegar Squares, you know the crisps? I'm going to Swansea tonight for a wedding so need to stock up!

lemonslemonslemons · 13/11/2015 11:15

Like you, Cautious, I never really liked salty things before. Cheese and onion was the flavour for me, now the thought of it makes me feel sick! I hate any taste being left in my mouth. That stale taste - ick!

mrsmugoo · 13/11/2015 11:19

I don't normally eat meat or dairy either but I've craved it since I've been pregnant. I'm not a strict non-meat eater so I've just eaten what I've fancied really.

MagicDucky · 13/11/2015 11:32

So sorry to hear the news mumunsure take care of yourself X

I'm with you on the squares lemons! I ate about four packets yesterday! So satisfying.

dollydaydream84 · 13/11/2015 12:00

belleboo have a few of my days tagged on to your weeks, overbaked the last one by 13 days!! Hmm

PrincessPunzie I would have a scan every week too if I could.

nehagarg Sorry to hear you had a MMC :(, I think I'm more scared of the 'missed' aspect as you say. I think I will see how I get on, most suggest you can have a scan after 8 weeks which is what I will be on Sunday so will try and talk hubby into it, though I know if I want it, he will just agree.

tattedpixie yes its a horrible bitter/metallic taste which makes everything taste weird or you get a funny after taste. I had it until delivery last time. Couldn't drink any tea which I absolutely love then begged for one in the recovery room, tasted amazing! The only thing that helps is brushing your teeth every time you eat or sucking a super strong mint! Hopefully it will ease off for you.

Just been to the shops for the first time since the MS took hold and had to do a lot of deep breathing around the fish section! I did however find my basket full of crisps, sweets, biscuits and Pepsi (which I never ever drink!). Feeling better already (and wider no doubt too :))

dollydaydream84 · 13/11/2015 12:02

mrsunsure so sorry to hear your sad news Flowers

Billi77 · 13/11/2015 12:19

Hello. Can i join? 7 weeks 5 days today. Finally got booking appt for 27th November after referral not sent my GP.
Having early scan next week due to MMC in June. Had no symptoms and suddenly got agonising nipples this week.
Oh and can't stand coffee and avocado.
Hello!

dollydaydream84 · 13/11/2015 13:01

welcome billi we must be due date buddies as I am 7+5 today too :) Sorry to hear about MMC, hope your scan goes well.

Billi77 · 13/11/2015 13:03

Hello there. Am due 28th June, according to last ovulation. Going through all the seasons with this one !

TattedPixie · 13/11/2015 13:17

Welcome Billi, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm due the tail end of June so gonna be going through all the seasons. Really hoping we don't have a heatwave like this year, I don't fend well with heat so with added bump, it'll be hell.

nehagarg · 13/11/2015 13:22

Good luck dollydaydream ... It does give you a lot of reassurance. I went back to worrying about a week after my scan but the peace of knowing all is well is unbelievable, even if for a short time.

Lovely to catch up with all of you, glad to hear some of you are starting to feel better, I have had a fairly bad week, feeling very tired! Also had some discoloured stuff when I wipe, not what I would call spotting but just not 'normal'.. Do you think I should call the midwife or just keep an eye until I see her for my booking in on Tuesday? (I'm 7+3 now). Trying not to be worried but just don't know what normal!

PrincessPunzie · 13/11/2015 13:32

Welcome Billi I have gone right off avocados as well - I normally love them!!

Up to you mrslewis - the first time I had a bit of brown discharge, hubby and I agreed to leave it a day and see if it happened again. I had another bit the following day so that's when we rang up and got referred for a scan. However as I'm guessing you won't be able to call your midwife over the weekend maybe give her a bell today? Although she may just advise you to keep an eye on it.

Louise34567 · 13/11/2015 13:35

Yes mrsmugoo it's hard isn't it! I gave up dairy and meat after discovering how the animals are eternally impregnanted & calves killed or taken away/how meat is made e.g. how animals are treated and killed ... but now I'm finding it difficult as my cravings seem to be overriding my ethics.
Hoping the cravings will subside by end of first trimester though.

Might have to explore the whole lemon thing ha ha

TattedPixie · 13/11/2015 13:46

Louise I'm hoping my craving isn't dairy related. I'm lactose intolerant and dairy free stuff isn't cheap like normal stuff. I do have a tub of dairy free ice cream stashed in the freezer in case it happens

JoMalones · 13/11/2015 13:50

It's so good to see other people have cravings, I thought it was all in my head. The nausea is getting worse though. Thank goodness it's the weekend tomorrow

Louise34567 · 13/11/2015 13:51

Oooh Tatted dairy-free icecream is so nice, isn't it. Especially the ones made mainly from coconut and cashews!
I'm with you on that. It's ethics for me and also I come out in a rash if I eat lots of dairy, and my IBS flares up sometimes with wheat.

Jo it's definitely not in your head - they are so real aren't they!!

insideout · 13/11/2015 14:06

Hello ladies can i join in! Am due dc3 on 26th june according to my calculations, had miscarriage in may so fingers crossed everything is good this time. Have been having cravings but for salad so at least i can indulge without any guilt!

MollieRos · 13/11/2015 14:10

Some people were asking about early scans. I had one when I thought I was 8 weeks, as the chance of miscarriage drops significantly once you've seen a heartbeat at 8wks. When I went, I saw a lovely strong heartbeat, but they dated me at 7+1, which caused me lots of worry as I'm absolutely certain of my dates. I know that early scans are difficult to date accurately, but was still very stressful. I'm now having to wait until my NHS 12wk scan, and I'm just crossing my fingers that the little too-small bean we saw has carried on growing and all is well. So I'm not sure whether it was a good thing to do or not. I've recently had two friends had missed miscarriages, and they've both found out at their 12 wk scans that the baby stopped growing at around 6 weeks, so at the time I really wanted to just find out if things had gone wrong or not as soon as possible rather than spend another several weeks thinking it was fine and it not being. I also knew it only told me all was well that day, but I was happy with that.

I'm not sure what I would do in another pregnancy- I was prepared to be told I wasn't pregnant or the foetus had stopped growing (in fact, I was expecting it!) but I wasn't prepared for extra uncertainty.

But who knows, if I have another one, perhaps I'll be too impatient and still go for an early scan!

JoMalones · 13/11/2015 14:42

Thank you Louise, happily ate a massive piece of cake and blamed it on the cravings!

Welcome insideout.
**
I've had early scans with all of mine (3), firstly I have no patience, secondly I only paid for one (first child paid, second child they thought was ectopic so scan and third was at a training session so free). It was nice to be able to tell family before 12 weeks and if there was anything wrong I would rather know sooner rather than later. It's down to the individual but for me, I think they are great!
