Hi Tatted it's my first too, sounds like we're in exactly the same boat. I'm going to book mine with BMI healthcare, it's £130. Been wanting one for ages but not I'm just going to go for it. It would be 3 weeks min until my 12 week scan. Are you considering having one too?

emma85x · 12/11/2015 21:47

beano Thank you SO much for your response, I really appreciate it. Always delighted to get advice from those of you who've been through this all before! You must roll you eyes at some of us first timer's comments Grin Thanks again and congratulations on your scan Smile

TattedPixie · 12/11/2015 21:48

I've got my booking appointment on Wednesday so gonna talk to my midwife and see what she says. I would love one, for piece of mind, but I can't afford that.

mrsmugoo · 12/11/2015 21:58

Emma85x I had NO symptoms first pregnancy, I didn't even find out until end of first trimester when in hindsight I had been quite tired and also constipated but I put that down to stress from being overworked/tired!

This time I've had awful sickness, heartburn, the runs and now rampant craving for lemony things!

Belleboo23 · 12/11/2015 21:59

My midwife says the early reassurance scans are about £40 I was very tempted but going to wait it out I didn't have one with the other two. I've been completely different this time symptom wise had sickness with ds and dd although lasted a lot longer with dd, this time I've only had nausea which to be honest isn't too bad, I'm nearly 9 weeks and my sickness started at 6/7 weeks with the other two.

TattedPixie · 12/11/2015 22:05

That helps Bella and mrsmugoo. I'm worrying at the slightest thing, with it being my first pregnancy. Not a healthy thing to do but this thread is helping a lot. Thank you so much

PrincessPunzie · 12/11/2015 22:33

So, so sorry to hear your news mrsunsure. emma I am also revisiting the idea of a reassurance scan now - my dating scan hasn't come through yet, but when it does, and if it's closer to 14 weeks than 12, then I think I will go for it. First baby here too and also relatively symptomless, it's pretty horrible. Every day I find myself wanting to get excited, then pulling myself back from getting too attached in case the worst happens. Weeks are going horrifically slowly!

Congrats on your scan beano I bet you are feeling great tonight!! Smile

mrsmugoo · 12/11/2015 22:40

Just enjoy the fact that pregnancy is treating you kindly! Statistically you've got nothing to worry about mmc's are so, SO rare!

WineCheeseSleep · 12/11/2015 22:41

Really sorry to hear that Mrsunsure Flowers

emma85x · 13/11/2015 06:19

You ladies are amazing. Absolutely love this thread. Thank you all. I hope you have a fabulous day Grin

Lovelybeano · 13/11/2015 06:46

No eye rolling here emma I promise heehee
To all the first timers who are worried about having no symptoms think of it as a sign that your body is coping with pregnancy superbly, forums are great however tbh with my first I didn't join a forum until much later on - I didn't know they existed and looking back I think my ignorance was bliss. My ds I joined almost straight away and I realised what could go wrong, so I spent a lot of time worrying over every twinge but I wasn't enjoying the pregnancy as much so I made a mental decision what will be will be, unless I had anything to tell me otherwise, I thought of the happy healthy baby growing Smile

bikingintherain · 13/11/2015 07:06

Wise words beano.

I had such a bad sleep last night, I woke up feeling so sick and couldn't sleep and then I'd drift off but promptly wake up sick as a dog a short time later.

And today I have a meeting I absolutely cannot cancel. Urghhh. And this afternoon I really want to visit a friend of mine who was in an accident and has been at home on her own a lot the last week.

BUT on the positive thinking I am 10+3 weeks now so time is going. And yesterday I felt well enough to bake my Christmas cake, so that's a big positive in my book!

Belleboo23 · 13/11/2015 07:30

I agree it's so easy to get yourself in a panic, it doesn't get easier with each pregnancy either!
My midwife told me because I've had 2 unexplained early babies they will probably do an internal scan and may put a stitch in my cervix Shock think I almost fell off the chair!! Anyone heard of this?

Lovelybeano · 13/11/2015 07:32

Oh and I've been dreaming of a cream scone for a couple of days, so I'm giving in today and buying one, I'm sooo looking forward to doing the school run, coming home having a cuppa and eating a big fat cream cake lol I've got plenty of housework to do after being poorly at the beginning of the week so I'm sure I'll burn it off cleaning Grin

bikingintherain · 13/11/2015 07:36

My SIL had it and at points had to be in bed rest for extended periods. But it very much depends on how big or small the cervix is. The smaller it is then there is more difficulty.

She gave birth about 2 months ago at 37 weeks with a pretty small cervix so all was well!

iamdivergent · 13/11/2015 08:01

So sorry mrsunsure

dollydaydream84 · 13/11/2015 08:07

belleboo it's called cervical cerclage I have only heard about it recently then a character on Downton had it ! How early were your other babies?

Found a local place where they do early scans for £45, the main reason I'd decided not to get one was that BUPA was £170 but now I'm thinking I might. Hubby doesn't get why I want one as he said all it tells you is everything is fine at that moment in time, which it does but if something has gone wrong I'd rather know now than wait another 4 weeks until 12 week scan. Anyone got any views on early scans?

PrincessPunzie · 13/11/2015 09:13

Sage words mugoo and beano - it's all true of course, I suppose it's just the mummy-worry instinct kicking in early! The internet is a double-edged sword in pregnancy - great for info and support, but also good for making you pee yourself with worry! I've learnt this from when my cats have been ill in the past - a quick Google always convinces me that they're definitely going to die, when in fact it's a minor urinary infection etc. It's odd to feel nothing but envy for women with nice symptom-y pregnancies - especially knowing that they'd probably rather be in my shoes! Post-scan I'm sure I'll feel much more grateful for all the throwing up I haven't been doing. dollydaydream I'm all for early scans - were it not for the money I'd get one a week! The further you get, the fewer the risks, and I would personally love that reassurance on a regular basis. But of course if something is going to go wrong there's absolutely no way they can prevent it.

lemonslemonslemons · 13/11/2015 09:15

Hey! I need a bit of reassurance ?? As you may have seen, the Dr said I have hyperemesis again. I am on Cyclizine and had been feeling horrendous all day every day. However the last 2-3 days I've been feeling slightly better - feeling hungry, able to eat more, not being sick etc. Naturally I am now worried that something is wrong. I'll be 10 weeks on Sunday. Can this be normal?

Belleboo23 · 13/11/2015 09:26

I'll have a look for some info, dollydaydream my ds was born at 35 weeks and dd was 34 weeks. She said the hospital will want to see me because I've had it happen twice then she said about checking my cervix really not liking the sound of that. I just cant bake them long enough!!

Lovelybeano · 13/11/2015 09:28

It could just be the placenta is starting to take over lemons so your hormones can take a rest for a while Flowers

mrsmugoo · 13/11/2015 09:40

Lemons a few of us have all started to emerge from sickness at the 10 week point! Feels good doesn't it?!

lemonslemonslemons · 13/11/2015 09:43

Thank you! With DD I was sick from week 7-16 really really really ill. With this one it was from week 3 - 9.5ish. Although as I type this I still feel really sick, it just does feel as though I have turned a corner. I guess I expected it to be as bad as it was with DD. Maybe DH and my dad will get their wish and it will be a boy!

Louise34567 · 13/11/2015 09:49

Welcome winterland hope all's going well so far.

mrsmugoo · 13/11/2015 10:14

My family are convinced I'm having a girl as I had no sickness with DS!
