I also had a bouncy chair that lived pretty much in the bathroom so when i showered DS sat in there.

IndomitabIe · 17/11/2015 06:34

Omg, my throat hurts so much! How do I tell if it's viral or bacterial? Or should I just see the doc and ask them? (I don't get ill very often!)

My tonsils feel huge, but they don't look it.

Waiting for the paracetamol to kick in.

BeautifulLiar · 17/11/2015 06:52

Please see the Dr, Indomitable! You don't sound like you're making a fuss over nothing, so go, I order it! Xx

BeautifulLiar · 17/11/2015 06:57

God I absolutely shit myself yesterday - decided to sort out the cluttered utility shelves. DH put two quite big sheets of broken glass up there Hmm ages ago, behind a Pimms bottle. I moved the Pimms bottle really slowly and carefully, but nothing happened, so I assumed it hadn't been holding them up and carried on...

Then all of a sudden the glass came smashing down around me :( crashed into the tumble dryer and broke into some big scary looking bits! I was shaking so much! Can't believe none of it cut me (one landed on my foot) but the commotion did make the baby jump which was quite sweet...

IndomitabIe · 17/11/2015 07:01

I think I will, beaut. If only on the off chance they can give me antibiotics to make my throat (and ears and head) feel better!

I don't often get ill, so it's a fascinating novelty in a way! How it's possible to feel hot and cold at the same time. And why do my joints ache? How does that happen? #nerd

Wriggler's been wriggling all night, which is reassuring. But is currently asleep, I think.

IndomitabIe · 17/11/2015 07:04

Woah, beaut that's terrifying! Sounds like something out of... What's that film where they avoided the plane crash but 'Death' kept trying to get them? ... Final Destination!

BeautifulLiar · 17/11/2015 07:33

I used to never get ill... but I do now! I think I eat too much crap... I never get headaches though, so they're always a bit of a novelty. Hope you feel better soon anyway!

Pahaha!! Good observation! Wonder how I'll try to escape death today?

Paperblank · 17/11/2015 07:49

indom
Get thee to the Dr's! Hope you feel better soon.

beautiful
You were so lucky to escape without a scratch! I think I'd still be shaking now Grin

missi
Hope you and flump are doing well. Keep us updated.

Have a good Tuesday everyone. Got to ring and book in for our hospital tour today anyone else done it already?

QforCucumber · 17/11/2015 08:30

Oh how exciting paper I have 24 week appt today with midwife Not sure what happens but hopefully all fine, bump appears to have shrank overnight which is odd.

indom hot water honey and lemon might take away the scratchyness - but get yourself to the doctors too!
beautiful how scary!think I'd have screamed and just stood there until dp came home haha!

Me624 · 17/11/2015 09:26

I need to find out how I book a hospital tour paper! I have a midwife appointment next week so will ask her then. I definitely want to have a look so I can decide between the midwife led unit and the other one - forget what it's called but the more medical one! Am I right in thinking that if you want an epidural you have to be in the medical one? I just don't really know what I want, I am not bothered about having a natural birth but I do generally have quite a high pain threshold and I don't want intervention unnecessarily, so I might be better off starting in the MLU and transferring if need be. Luckily it's all on one site at my hospital!

IndomitabIe · 17/11/2015 09:27

Thanks Q. It's not so much scratchy as swollen-feeling and achey. Will get on the hot honey & lemon though.

In my paracetamol-peak I put our sheets in the wash. Deep regret. Now on the sofa watching/sleeping through daytime tv. Docs at 4pm. If my experience is anything to go by I'll be fine by then! (Win-win!)

Hope your appointment is all good Q.

Gingerlady123 · 17/11/2015 10:23

Beaut- glad you escaped with no injury! How terrifying.
Missi- I'm glad baby is still safe inside you
Paper- I haven't thought about a hospital tour. Is this a standard thing?
woke up to vomiting again this morning! Still at 22 weeks for goodness sake. Fed up of the nausea now to. Just want a break. Baby was kicking again last night.
Anyone know if passive smoking of e cigs is safe in pregnancy. People at work smoke them around me inside the work place all the time and I can't go anywhere. Their not meant to smoke them but they do. They tell me it's safe as the package they bought them in says so. If I tell my boss though they'll know it's me that's done it

vroc81 · 17/11/2015 10:49

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Missi glad Flump has stayed put so far.

Indom hope you are feeling better soon, hopefully the doctors will help - also recommend the honey and lemon!

Beaut that sounds scary, glad none of it got you!

Had to remind DH while away this weekend that I can't quite walk the distances I used to... Still managed about 35km but had to leave him to it Sunday afternoon, hopefully the walking will just about have counter balanced the amount of cheese I consumed.. Blush

IndomitabIe · 17/11/2015 11:02

Ginger I don't think there are any legal issues with using ecigs indoors or at work, but if you have workplace guidelines that should be followed you should mention it to managers.

I don't think e-cigs around you is anywhere near as bad as traditional cigarettes, but I would consider it deeply antisocial, especially if you're feeling sick.

Do mention it to managers. I wouldn't be happy about even when not pregnant. It is not unreasonable to want to breathe unpolluted air.

Regarding hospital visits - I don't think they do them round here.

Rosieblossom123 · 17/11/2015 11:09

Morning everyone, sorry haven't been on here for a while had such a busy weekend clearing the nursery and cleaning! Had my 25 week check up with my gp yesterday and all was good, she measured my belly and it was 21cm and she said the normal is 24cm so she's not too worried, she said if I'm behind again at my 28 w check up they'll be referring me for growth scans, anyone had that with their previous pregnancies?
Also had my flu vaccine which I slightly regret because I feel like a zombie today, I'm never ill so I'm scared :( has anyone had theirs yet?

Missi I'm glad baby is still nice and cozy in there!

I think I'll be booking my hospital tour on my 28 week check up according to my MW on the 14th December!

24+2 today and feel like it's dragging I really want to see my baby girl, hurry up March!!!

BeautifulLiar · 17/11/2015 11:12

Thanks everyone, I will guilt trip DH later (but he'll probably just tell me off for going up there!).

Ginger as I said before DH has an e-cig. Obviously I wish he didn't have anything but it's far better than fags! I don't worry about it being around me as I think the vapour is just stage smoke, but then I'm not exposed to it as often as you are!

BeautifulLiar · 17/11/2015 11:15

Rosie I've had growth scans with all of mine.

The girls were ok, just small, like their mum!

The boy had to be induced (at 40+5 Hmm) and he was only 5lb 12oz and needed a bit of oxygen at birth and had low blood sugar levels. But he thrived very quickly and we were only in hospital for 48 hours.

BeautifulLiar · 17/11/2015 11:16

Sorry he was 5lb 10oz!

Rosieblossom123 · 17/11/2015 11:26

Beautiful I'm quiet small too, I'm secretly hoping for a small baby haha so scared of pushing out a 9lb baby Shock

Well we'll see, my mw will decide at my 28 week check up, to be honest my gp wasn't too worried she said its only 3cm difference and she said it might be because I'm petite. So when you had your growth scans if baby is small what was their advise to you, because there's not much that can be done is it?

BeautifulLiar · 17/11/2015 11:30

There was no advice really!

I want another small one too. Although they're a pain in the bum as they usually need to feed a lot more than bigger babies so they can catch up!

I just looked at my other kids' red books, and realised they could have passed as newborns for months! They were all under 10lb until about 9/10 weeks.

BeautifulLiar · 17/11/2015 11:30

Also you can always measure your own belly with fabric tape! That's what I plan to do as I don't have as many appointments now its my fourth

IndomitabIe · 17/11/2015 11:57

Rosie I had my flu jab last week. Didn't notice anything apart from a sore arm. I'm fairly sure this week's sore throat is unrelated.

The belly measuring thing is notoriously unreliable. I swear they rarely started in the same place twice. (Mind you, growth scans have never seemed particularly accurate either!).

Rosieblossom123 · 17/11/2015 12:03

Beautiful I don't know what I'm measuring haha is it the whole belly or from the belly button? Sorry hun I'm clueless! Blush

Rosieblossom123 · 17/11/2015 12:05

Indo I forgot to mention that my arm is really sore too, not ideal especially when driving :( To be honest I wouldn't mind a growth scans It means I see my baby more I guess ha

ThePug · 17/11/2015 12:05

I have about about a million appointments coming up! Blood test yesterday, growth scan & consultant clinic on Friday, 25 week midwife appt on Monday, another consultant appt & retina scan the following Friday, then Anti-D midwife appt, another growth scan and more consultant appts before Christmas - at least I'm being well looked after but all the hospital car parking fees and bus fares are going to bankrupt me !!

DH has just emailed me saying he's worked out he needs to tell his employer about paternity leave request by 28th November - eeek! A) I can't believe he looked into it himself and B) I'm ecstatic that he's said he'll have two weeks off - from previous conversations I thought he was going to try and take nothing, or only one week off.

Need to get a wriggle on and talk to my accountant about wtf I'm going to do now though.

I was absolutely apoplectic with DH last night when he said he was going on a work trip with one night away in the first week of December. I had told him so many times that our first NCT class was on 3rd December but apparently not enough as he had booked to be in bloody Newcastle then. In the 8+ years he's worked at his company, he has never had a night away, so I was so mad with him for organising this! Fortunately he managed to shift it by a day so he will be able to make it. I just had these thoughts of being the sad one all on my own at the very first class.

Sorry the sickness has come back Ginger but good to hear baby is nice and mobile! I hate smoke of any kind, particularly all these ridiculously sweet smelling e-cig vapours so I'd definitely be saying something to management.

Beaut stay away from any more catastrophes today!

Paper One of our NCT classes is at the hospital with a tour, so I'm not planning on doing a separate visit. It's all starting to seem a bit close & real now, isn't it?!

A few strangers at a work event were brave enough last week to ask me 'when's the baby due?' so I reckon I must be beyond the point of reasonable doubt that I am pregnant not just tubby!
