Sorry to hear about your DH Me, I hope he's feeling better today and you managed to get some rest last night and weren't up all night worrying.

A little random, bizarre dream to make you smile - Last night I dreamt that I was getting it on with Ed Sheeran (who I do not find attractive in the slightest). We'd been kissing and things were getting really heated when he said he'd have to get the 'semi-on wind up going on'.... I (in my dream) thought WTF, he got his knob out and through his bell end was a chain which he said he'd have to wind up to get an erection. (Although in typical dream style he already had one!). I asked him if he could still come and he said no unfortunately not. He then proceeded to get a bag with a couple of dead eels in which he was going to use, I guess like a dildo, on me but said he should have cleaned them first.....I politely declined the eel offer and at that point I think woke myself up. What are these pregnancy hormones doing to my brain????!!!!! That is the weirdest one yet!!!!!

(I have been feeling really horny lately though....maybe that's where it came from....anyone else getting that?)

sherazade · 28/10/2015 08:08

Sorry I've been away for ages and now I have so many people I wanted to congratulate individually on their scans but I've lost track Blush so congratulations everybody on healthy babies and hurrah for teams. Pink blue and yellow . Miss dee - high five !!! Two girls here (ages 9 and 10) so we're absolutely thrilled with news of a boy too!!! And like you was sure of a girl . I have since been buying babygrows like a mad woman , someone stop me please !!! Sizes have changed so much since my kids were babies - there used to be good old newborn and 0-3 and now all my favourite shops do newborn , 0-1 and 0-3 and I'm completely baffled so have ended up buying tons a few of each size because everything is so cute in boys styles. Am I the only nutter who's gone crazy shopping someone please tell me am not alone , am only 21 weeks but have bought pushchair (maclaren techno), babygrows and an all singing all dancing crib that rocks and vibrates , is light, compact and folds away in an instant - for only £50 in mothercare !! My sis recommended it to me and I can't wait to get it delivered today hopefully !!

Me- hope all is well with ur Dh now and that you have got some rest !

Morning all and thanks for the good wishes. I am back at the hospital now with DH and just waiting for the doctor to come round who should be discharging him. It was a rough night (for both of us - him worse I think being on a ward) but hoping we'll get home soon and can catch up on sleep. It was a routine planned op but finished late in the day due to delays and then they wouldn't let him go because they were being cautious. Better safe than sorry though.

IndomitabIe · 28/10/2015 09:02

Glad he'll be home soon Me.

So yesterday we received the official invitation to this wedding and it specifies no children. Hmm

So we can leave DS at my mum's, but if we've got a tiny newborn there's no way we can leave it (less than 2 weeks old if it arrives on due date - DH did suggest leaving it with my mum, for about 5 minutes till he realised that was a ridiculous suggestion).

So does this mean I'm only invited if I'm enormously overdue? Or do you think having a newborn wrapped onto my chest is more of an outfit than a child?! (I do! This baby will still be a part of me at that point!) I've asked DH to clarify.

If I'm not allowed to go, then I'll be at my mum's with DS and a new baby, on our anniversary (yes, their wedding is on our anniversary - he was DHs best man!) while DH gets wasted at this wedding.

AIBU to be a bit pissed off with this? I'm fairly sure they'll say no to me taking the baby so it's 'fair' to everyone else. But DH has been asked to be a witness, so he has to go. It's not fair - just cos I've got the boobs.

IndomitabIe · 28/10/2015 09:04

Mind you, I'm just being indignant for the sake of it. I'm not going to want to go to a boozy military wedding at less than 2 weeks post-partum am I? I'll be happier with Ma waiting on me anyway.

But I'm offended on principle! Hrrmph

marmitemofo · 28/10/2015 09:32

I don't think you're BU indom. I dislike the whole 'no kids at wedding' thing, though I recognise people have a right to do it - just they might have to accept people can't make it in that case! would your DH have to go/commit to being witness? I would think if he said that a) it's his own anniversary and b) you can't go with baby anyway, that they might be a bit understanding? but then again, people do get a bit entitled when it comes to weddings Confused.

the alternative is to check if newborn 'counts' as a child. It depends on whether bride and groom have experience of young babies as in my experience very tiny babies are super easy to keep quiet (put boob in mouth) and sleep a lot anyway, so aren't likely to be trouble...

oh and also - how far after due date is it? if you go way overdue, then is it a good idea to go to a wedding when you might go into labour? or you could be in the middle of labour when the wedding happens, in which case presumably DH would be with you and not at the wedding!

sherazade · 28/10/2015 09:41

that's a tricky one indom, if I were close to the bride/groom I would send a text from now saying its close to your due date and asking would your baby be welcome if he/she is only a few days old!

is anyone else confused about what to do re jabs or is everyone having both the whooping cough and flu jab? I'm not anti vaccination or anything but I don't want to be exposing my baby to chemicals at this stage unless absolutely necessary. These jabs were not offered in my previous pregnancies where I did catch flu and was ill with it but babies were fine. Since when was the flu a lethal illness in pregnancy? Seems to be the first I've heard of it.

TriJo · 28/10/2015 09:42

We had a no kids wedding but wouldn't have had an issue with someone who wanted to take a tiny baby like that. We were mostly trying to avoid issues surrounding 5-10 year olds running around like mad things and wanted the adults to be able to relax. Just ask them!

Have my scan tomorrow (@19+4), starting to get a bit nervous now! We're hoping to find out the gender, but keep it relatively quiet for a while and tell our families at Christmas.

IndomitabIe · 28/10/2015 09:43

Wedding is 12 days after EDD. It's upcountry, but only 15 mins away from my mum's. If I'm overdue he won't be drinking and DS will already be staying with DM, and she'd be ecstatic for us to have it near her!

It's DHs best mate. He should go, regardless. He's going to check if the baby 'counts'. It'll be that magical first 2 weeks when they sleep and appear all easy and angelic, before they 'wake up' and start causing mayhem!

They've got nieces & nephews and friends with children so should have some idea.

TriJo · 28/10/2015 09:46

sher Had flu shot at 17 weeks and will be getting the whooping cough vaccine. Whooping cough is often fatal in tiny babies, is a horrific way to go and if there is an easy way of providing the baby with some immunity before they can be vaccinated then I'm all for it.

IndomitabIe · 28/10/2015 09:51

Sher it's not "chemicals" it'll be fine. It's dead or inactive virus particles so that your own immune system can make the antibodies necessary. The antibodies can cross the placenta and be passed in breast milk to give some protection to the baby. The "chemicals" the virus is mixed with is largely water with some preservative which is shown to be not at all harmful (despite what the nut jobs on the Internet think). Is there something in particular that's worrying you?

I have a flu jab every year, including when pg with DS and had no adverse reaction (bar a sore arm for a couple of hours).

I've seen people with whooping cough and would far rather have the jab than risk a tiny baby catching it.

IndomitabIe · 28/10/2015 09:54

Sorry, I should clarify when I say 'it's not "chemicals"' - of course every thing is made of chemicals (phospholipids in cell membranes, pentose sugars in your DNA, dihydrogen monoxide - water, etc.) so being a "chemical" doesn't equal being harmful (and neither does being "natural" equal being "safe" or "better").

sherazade · 28/10/2015 10:02

I know how vaccines work and there isn't anything in particular that's worrying me, I just want to make an informed decision.

IndomitabIe · 28/10/2015 10:03

Sorry! A lot of people don't know, is all. There's a lot of nonsense out there that scares people.

Me624 · 28/10/2015 10:16

I've had the flu jab and will have the whooping cough one in due course. I take all and any jabs that are offered to me!

BeautifulLiar · 28/10/2015 10:22

I had the flu and whooping cough jab in my last pregnancy - they'd only just started doing it. I will definitely be having it again. I wish I'd known how sore my arm would be last time as DD1 was still a baby really and I had to pick her up but at least I know this time :) I don't really research vaccs before I agree to them, I think we're very lucky in this country to be offered them for free.

Missikat I have been laughing on and off at your dream all morning! Maybe your baby will come out with red hair? Wink

BeautifulLiar · 28/10/2015 10:23

Oh and Me - jesus that was a long day! Hope you and your DH are feeling a little better now Flowers

Tonideanna123 · 28/10/2015 10:46

Hello Everybody,

Yay a new thread :)

We do seem to be the most chattiest lot on her lol. How's everything doing ? Bumps getting bigger now ? My backs been hurting the last couple of days :(, I work in an office so have hot water bottle on it all day. But it wakes me up at night sometimes too with the pain. Can anyone suggest anything I could do to make it better or is there not ?

Thanks xx

vroc81 · 28/10/2015 11:08

Congrats on the scan and your boy Miss! Your dream made me laugh at my desk!!!

Hope you are home and able to get some sleep now Me.

No help with the back pain Toni but you have my sympathies, are you sitting up well and in the right position at your desk with your screen and stuff in the right place? Maybe it just needs a little adjusting now you are a little different too?

And no still no bump, she must be going up and round rather than out? I'm still in my jeans I've been wearing pre- pregnancy and I just feel a bit fat. At this rate I won't be needing the maternity dress I got in the debenhams sale yonks ago for the Christmas party..

I haven't had my flu jab yet as was waiting for my exemption card to appear (may have been a little late posting it) but will sort it out when it does and get whooping cough jab having seen a colleague with that I can only imagine how horrible it would be for a baby.

sherazade · 28/10/2015 11:14

where has everybody been getting these exemption forms from?

IndomitabIe · 28/10/2015 11:15

The midwife gave me a form at booking in - it arrived a few weeks later. Ring your midwife?

IndomitabIe · 28/10/2015 11:15

I was surprised to get it that early and that easily, tbh, but pretty pleased.

LCR77 · 28/10/2015 11:24

Congrats missdee There are a lot of boys in our breeding club!

Planning to finish at 37 weeks same as last time. I've got loads of leave and TOIL to carry over so my mat leave will start on my due date. Personally, I enjoyed having some time to myself to prepare. It was also the hot summer of 2013 last time so was exhausted but got to enjoy the sun and book some nice things in for myself - massages, meeting friends and family for lunch. Plus I roped my parents into doing some jobs in around the house - cleaning, ironing, gardening, painting - the only time you can get away with it being pregnant! Won't quite be the same this time round with a toddler although going to try and keep with same childcare arrangements so will get some time to myself. Everyone's different though and can get bored really easily with waiting for baby to arrive. If you've got restrictions on your mat leave def leave till as late as possible.

Tonideanna123 · 28/10/2015 11:35

Thankyou for getting back to me vroc81, yeah I try to make sure I am sitting up properly at the desk. Sometimes I find I've like slipped in my chair on I lean forward as its a habit and I need to get out of it as that wont help my back. How far does your screen need to be away from you ?

Thankyou xx

ffauxlivia · 28/10/2015 12:03

missikat Grin haha Ed Sheeran, eels and dildos - ewwwww that is some seriously f*ed up dream!!! Hope you've recovered from it this morning :)

Toni have you tried prenatal yoga? I go once a week but it's pretty expensive, so I also got some nice gentle prenatal DVDs for stretching, and they've definitely helped.

me glad your hubby's okay, hope you both can get some rest asap, you poor thing
