Sorry to hear about the pain everyone is in. Being pregnant is lovely isn't it?
Going to see ohs sister tonight and her new baby boy. Very excited but it makes me wish I could meet my girl now.

We are looking to move in the next couple of months. Feeling nervous about it.

Felt really sick between 11-12 today but tried some chewing gum and it seemed to take the edge of a lot. Feeling better after some lunch.

Still in pain on my side but didn't hurt to urinate the last couple of times so praying it's not an infection. I assume if I have a uti it would be obvious and I wouldn't be questioning whether or not it is? I've read about infection causing premature labour before and feel very nervous. Thanks everyone for your help though

TriJo · 16/11/2015 13:40

I discovered on Saturday that using two bump bands at once may work a little too well while running - no happy bladder dance during Parkrun, which was nice, but the little one was also very quiet for a few hours afterwards and he was starting to worry me a bit because of that! He's been letting me know this morning though that he was just being a troll baby on Saturday, literally 3 hours solid of kicking me decently hard every 5-10 minutes from about 9:30 onwards, and he's started up again now as I drink my post lunch Earl Grey...

BeautifulLiar · 16/11/2015 13:42

Hey everyone! Also sorry to hear about the pain people are in.

So after 7 years of none of the DC having chickenpox the eldest two both started to break out in spots today which is weird! So another week of staying in... will be rather tedious but I've been nesting a little already.

24 weeks tomorrow and can't wait; I've been counting down to this as of course if I was to go into labour me and my daughter would be taken seriously! So missikat I'm really flad you've reached this milestone and I just can't wait to meet my girl now.

Also this is random but I'm desperate to get some blinds for the living room window... I've found some perfect ones on blinds2go.co.uk. They'd mean we could see out but people can't see in which will be brilliant when I'm breastfeeding 24/7. They're also made to measure so DH won't have to cut them down to size which isn't his strong point

HOWEVER they cost almost £80... I can afford them but its a rented house and seems so expensive!

Convince me it's a good idea to get them?!

TriJo · 16/11/2015 13:47

I'd consider 80 quid to be worth it for something like that BeautifulLiar - particularly if they make you feel more comfortable.

BeautifulLiar · 16/11/2015 14:03

The £80 includes delivery etc. Ok I've ordered a free sample!!

ThePug · 16/11/2015 14:18

Beautiful If you didn't have it, would you find yourself moving to a different room each time? If so, I'm pretty sure £80 will be a reasonable price to pay for saving you time & effort moving and so you can still sit in front of the tv whilst feeding

Heads up that today's Amazon daily deal is the Medela Swing breastpump - at only £69.99 this is by far the cheapest I've seen it so I've just ordered mine. Bonus that we had a £50 amazon gift voucher from a birthday present so only cost me £20 - big saving for my spreadsheet which after yesterday's furniture splurge is getting a bit eyewatering ! They go for £50ish second hand on eBay so a very good deal, I think.

BeautifulLiar · 16/11/2015 14:24

Good point ThePug. I wouldn't move rooms -as I'll be glued to my Bad Girls boxset I've asked for for Christmas-- but I'd be CONSTANTLY looking out the window. I do it now.

That's a Bargain! Is it an electrical one?

ThePug · 16/11/2015 14:35

Yes - this one www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000LPZTQY?ref_=gbps_img_s-3_8627_d19e8ac2&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Amazon reduced price has been £103 for weeks, so another £30 off is a great reduction! Just hoping it doesn't pop up anywhere cheaper on Black Friday, which is when I was hoping to find a deal for it.

Me624 · 16/11/2015 14:35

Beautiful you could always ask your landlord if they will foot the bill - if you want the blinds anyway then it seems like an ok amount to spend to me, but you never know, if you don't ask you don't get!

hayleycookie · 16/11/2015 14:50

My DS just cuddled up on the sofa next to me and put his hand on my belly for a little while. Then he lifted up my shirt and started stroking my bump. I asked him what we he was doing and he said ''I'm just stroking my baby brother mummy'' Grin Love this little boy so much! I was really worried that he would feel put out when baby gets here, but we've been making a big deal of all the things he can do that the baby can't, and that the baby will love him so much etc and he seems to be taking it all in his stride. He's only 3, and I'm so so proud of him! Sorry for the off topic, but I just felt a burst of love and had to share Smile

dobbythedoggy · 16/11/2015 16:12

beautiful we're just about to get frosted window film for our windows in the living room. Blinds would be fab but dd would be into them constantly and dh would likely distroy them trying to adjust them. We've found stuff in wilkos that lets us see out but people can't see in.

missi glad flump's stayed put for now!

Counting down the seconds until bedtime. Dd's been up for 2 and 4 hours in the middle of the night the last 2 nights wanting to come in with us. Had both of us up last night, playing musical beds.

Me624 · 16/11/2015 18:10

hayley your ds sounds so sweet!

Question - what is everyone doing for sleeping arrangements for the first few months? We have bought a cotbed for the baby's nursery but it's enormous and wouldn't fit in our bedroom anyway. I was planning on a Moses basket but everyone says they only fit in those for the first month or so. Do most people buy a crib for their bedroom? I've been looking at them online today and shocked at the prices, they seem to be £80-£150 before you've even bought the mattress. We'll no doubt end up getting one but again it just seems like a lot to spend for something the baby will only be in for 6 months!

tappitytaptap · 16/11/2015 18:14

Aww hayley that is so sweet!
GP diagnosed me with SPD over the phone (checked if any cramps/bleeding/signs of infection first!) and has left me a physio referral letter on reception as I have private medical insurance - good service! Just waiting for my train and hoping someone sees bump and lets me sit down rather than me having to explain I am in pain : (

BeautifulLiar · 16/11/2015 18:15

Thanks for the tips everyone.

Me - mine fit in their Moses baskets until 5 months, then I moved them into their own rooms. They were smaller than average though.

This time I've bought a second hand Next 2 Me crib which should last a while.

TheMshipIsBack · 16/11/2015 18:20

Me We're going to convert a second hand Ikea cot to a co-sleeper (like at this site except we'll raise the cot height by putting a custom-cut piece of foam under the mattress). There's enough room if DH gives up his bedside table temporarily and we move the bed against that side wall. No need for a moses basket or crib that way, and we can keep her in with us as long as needed if she's a crap sleeper and we don't want to put her in with DS till later. Still buying a new mattress of course.

IndomitabIe · 16/11/2015 18:25

Oh no, TriJo, glad you're ok. 10 points for description!

Magpie that aunt sounds hilarious!

Q glad your back is feeling better, but of a surprise on the leaky boob! Hope not to follow you on that one just yet!

Oh no, MissDee. Hope it doesn't get any worse. That sounds awful.

hayley that's so sweet of your DS!

Me we're planning on getting a bedside crib. Not sure which yet, our bed's quite high. £100 for one is worth the sleep, in my book! They seem to retain their resale value well too, though.

Ooh, good idea TheMShip.

I think I'm coming down with a virus. Developed a sore neck yesterday. Added a sore throat this morning, and by the time I left work all my back, hips, shoulder joints were aching, and my ears & head Sad. Couldn't find any paracetamol till just as I was leaving work, but it's just taken the edge off now.

Planning on going to bed just after DS. Don't want to have to set cover for tomorrow (practicals and complicated chemistry maths to do!).

ThePug · 16/11/2015 19:07

Me I've gone with the Mothercare Hyde crib - it's £39.99 which I thought was a great price! www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Hyde-Crib/378938,default,pd.html

Me624 · 16/11/2015 19:21

Pug thanks for the link! Somehow I missed that one when I looked at the Mothercare website earlier. That's a much more reasonable price.

IndomitabIe · 16/11/2015 19:28

Ooh, nice Pug, do you think you could take a side off that?

(Sitting up, reaching over, lifting a baby up and over really is worth paying another £100 to miss out on!)

ThePug · 16/11/2015 19:29

It doesn't swing (probably why it's cheaper) but I don't want baby getting used to being rocked to sleep then not going down when moved to the cotbed later! I've also gone with the cheap £12ish mattress - if baby doesn't like it, I'll get the more expensive one. Have gone for a nice pocket sprung one for the cotbed as that'll be used for much longer, but don't see the point in spending much on the things that will only get a few months' use, unless we need to.

ThePug · 16/11/2015 19:30

Indom I'm sure you could hack it if you wanted and if it was a compatible height with your bed. I'm deliberately having to get one with sides though to stop the dog crawling in!

Missdee2014 · 16/11/2015 20:01

With my dd's I had a crib in our bedroom and a borrowed crib in the livingroom for through the day for the first few weeks. This time round I've been given a Moses basket by a family member (not a fan of them tbh) that we will use in the livingroom (possibly) in the early days and I've got my original crib that will go in our room. Mine tend to get about 5 months out of their cribs and then into the cot bed in their own room. I have toyed with the idea of buying a co sleeper this time round but given I've literally only got a crib and a shawl from the others then I can't justify the spend when we have everything else to buy again! If we had the cash to spare though I'd defo go for a co sleeper.

Missi glad to see flump is still tucked up safely inside you. Every day is a bonus I guess.

Trinpy · 16/11/2015 21:00

With ds we had a crib in our room like this www.kiddicare.com/p/Kiddicare_Dream_Crib_White.htm which I got in the January sales for £30. I bought the mattress at the same time and delivery was free. I think we moved him out of it at around 6 months maybe, but he was still bf during the night so we ended up moving his cot bed into our room and using it like a co sleeper for a few months.

I hated having to lift him in and out of the crib multiple times a night to feed/comfort, so with this baby I'm planning to do exactly the same as TheMship and hopefully save my back Smile. I'm reusing the crib for naps in the living room though.

Paperblank · 16/11/2015 21:13

We got given a crib for our room, but I am still going to get a cot for the baby's room (I'm just going to call it (...him?) Geronimo - it's what we call it) so that when I'm pottering about upstairs Geronimo can sleep in in "his" room.

I'm deluded aren't i...I said to my mum that Geronimo could go in his cot while I have a shower. She nodded knowingly Grin

Hope you are all okay - no really had a chance to catch up lately!

Missikat · 16/11/2015 22:20

Me, I found the same as Beautiful, my DS was in his Moses basket until 5.5 months then we moved him out into his cot bed in his own room. He was also a small ish baby though. This time, all being well with Flump, I'd like a cosleeper.

Indom, hope you're not going down with anything too nasty.

Ginger, if you're worried maybe see the nurse or gp for a urine test just to rule out a UTI?

Hayley, how sweet is your little man, that is lovely!

All still looking ok here, nothing to report although getting very 'damp' down below (sorry TMi) so having to go check in the toilet every hour or so to make sure it's not blood/waters going. It's not but that is my worry every time I feel it.
