monkerina I've watched 1001 youtube videos and the Nappy Lady does some really good basic explanatory ones on cloth nappies. It's overwhelming at first, but as one American lady said, if you can do laundry, you can do cloth nappies. Also, the Nappy Lady (who lives in our neck of the woods) does a little questionnaire thing where you can fill out your preferences like tumble dry/ tall family/ fabric preference etc and she will recommend a brand for you. Or you can always wait until the baby is born and visit her house (with me! Grin)

jellypi3 · 05/10/2015 08:01

Yay for 24 weeks mawsy! I'm 24 weeks Thursday and am weirdly excited about it.

A trick for feeling movement. If you take slow in breaths with long out breaths, relaxing as much as possible, the baby tends to love it and will have a party. Get your partner to sit in wait with hands on your bump

Phoenix80 · 05/10/2015 08:30

Both my ds' just felt the baby kick while I was in the bath. Ds1 got a particularly vicious one Grin

Yay for 24 weeks. I'm 22 weeks today Smile

haquoi123 · 05/10/2015 08:31

Woo mawsy & jelly!! Sorry, missed all the previous posts, didn't realise there was a new page. I can't wait for 24 weeks, so excited for you!

haquoi123 · 05/10/2015 08:32

Hi 5 phoenix!

monkerina · 05/10/2015 09:10

What day's your scan Chinchilla? Exciting!

I might well accompany you to visit the Nappy Lady Calypso- did her questionnaire thing, read the recommendations, think I've got my head round it (my mum did reusables with me in the 80s, so I'm already on that side I think) but DH's laziness reluctance is the only thing putting me off really. Thanks for advice ladies Smile

I'm doing NCT too- aims are 1) learn how to keep baby alive 2) essentially buy some local mum friends. Not proud. Not sure I could justify their Tier 1 prices though...

clarabellski · 05/10/2015 09:20

Congratulations on your scan and membership of team blue monkerina!

And Cake to you Mawsy on your 24 week milestone!

Is anyone else feeling like time is speeding up? During the first trimester time couldn't move fast enough now I'm like 'steady on!'. I think it really hit DH and I properly in the past couple of weeks how much our lives are going to change. Shock

GoodnightDarthVader · 05/10/2015 09:58

Thanks Pheonix!

Congrats ladies on all your milestones! I've got my 21 week scan today so a bit nervy, hoping nothing scary shows up!

clara agree that time is speeding up, can't believe I'm over halfway gone!

(lol LO just kicked in agreement! :) )

MaryEllen1 · 05/10/2015 10:09

Congrats on meeting milestones ladies!

I am just coming up 20 weeks and have scan next week. not experienced any big movements yet but had some flutterings, which I think is baby but as its first one not really sure...

maternity tights - Anyone thinking of buying some, don't but the M&S ones am currently wearing a pay that are uncomfortable and keep sliding down my legs, am quite long legged (stumpy body) but I bought a large pair and not sure I'd bother again for the price!

CalypsoLilt · 05/10/2015 10:31

maryellen i'm wearing New Look maternity tights and they are fab (I'm 5'8").... I normally swear by M&S but I'm a new convert to New Look! Also got my maternity coat from them.

good luck with your scan darthvader please post a pic if you can!

clarabellski · 05/10/2015 10:51

I hope your scan today goes well Darth. Any others with scans this week?

MaryEllen I'm seriously thinking about writing a complaint to M&S! I bought 4 pairs of their opaque maternity tights and have 1 pair left due to holes appearing in 3 pairs, all near the foot seam.

I've got normal M&S opaque tights which have lasted for around 3 years so think it must be a dodgy fault in the maternity ones I bought.

Gusset also hangs down around my knees after 5 minutes walking so not buying any more pairs. Not impressed.

Last week I forked out £11 for some trasparenze ones from mytights. I'm wearing them for the first time today, and so far they stay up (much better reinforcement around the gusset).

My inside leg is 35" by the way.

MaryEllen1 · 05/10/2015 11:31

calypso I went in to New Look and bought some maternity trousers at the weekend very comfortable! will definitely look at their tights now.

Clara that's the tights I bought, ridiculous I have a 10 minute walk to work and it was so uncomfortable and I wasn't stopping to yank them up, queue dash to the toilet to retrieve them once at work!! I have "tweeted" M&S to see if I get a response... I'm the same as you the regular tights I bought before pregnancy have all been fine.

Also for anyone buying Tommee Tippee things Amazon have some items on sale today in their daily deals, worth a look!!

MaisieDotes · 05/10/2015 13:08

Congrats mawsy Smile I'll be 24 weeks on wed so not too far behind you.

Exciting chinchilla ! What day is it?

Brought DS for his last set of jabs today. Screamed the place down as per. Glad that's out of the way for the time being!!

Posey01 · 05/10/2015 14:30

You can normally rely on M&S can't you :( I've just bought some large (non maternity ones) from Primark (I love the warm fleecy inside of the super cozy ones) and you can almost tuck your boobs into them ;-)

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow - scan is Weds - not sure i'm feeling much though :( ...fair few gurgly bubbles but not sure if that's the baby or not...

I bought some maternity skinny jeans from New Look yesterday-and love them! so nice to wear tight(ish) tops again and look pregnant :)

MamaBerg · 05/10/2015 15:17

I'm at 21 weeks today - officially in the second half now!!

Starting to feel a few more kicks over the last couple of days that I can't write off as wind!! DH is so eager to feel he's constantly glued to my belly in the evenings. Maybe when he feels one (I'm sure that won't be for a few weeks yet) he will calm down a bit. Or get worse!

clarabellski · 05/10/2015 15:22

So cute mamaberg!

jellypi3 · 05/10/2015 15:32

My dp still hasn't felt baby kick even though her kicks are so strong and unmistakable to me. Each time he tries she stops lol.

Same for me jelly! Right now it feels like the baby has found a new game aka boxing using my bladder as the punching bag.

Are you on your holidays now? Hope you're having a relaxing time!

jellypi3 · 05/10/2015 17:10

Yep in Spain, 30 degrees today :) it's lovely but I'm desperate to gobble down some prawns and seafood...I'm trying to be good haha

I've been shopping in TK Maxx and got completely carried away! 2 huge bags of baby stuff later (you have to pay for the bags now!). They had tommee tippee, avent and born free bottles! They had muslins, swaddles, towels, blankets, bibs, socks and baby clothes. Also maternity pillows and nursing pillows. I controlled myself a bit on the clothes and mostly bought stuff I actually need. All cheaper then anywhere else online. They are also selling most of it on their website but there was more in the store. Bottles are online. I found an Aden and Anais swaddle in the store so was very chuffed with that.

jelly There is no reason not to eat prawns or any other seafood. I eat prawns at least twice a week. I personally wouldn't eat mussels or oysters when pregnant. Enjoy the sunshine.

CalypsoLilt · 05/10/2015 18:49

Baby kicks really hard and daily now, since X has fucked off I now just grab the nearest colleague and shove their hand on my belly.

Yes, I'm the colleague you love to hate!

Rufus200 · 05/10/2015 19:10

So pissed off right now! I booked my c-section in at 16weeks as I am an anxious person and I've had a really bad experience in a surgical theatre before so it was really important I was 1st of the day and not kept waiting. Just been told I've been booked in as the 2nd c-section which means if there is an emergency or complication I will get pushed even further back. Last time this surgeon operated on me I got pushed 3 hrs back and was completely hysterical by the time they anaesthetised me. The surgeon and I have already had an argument that she won't GA me and I have to have an epidural for my c-section. While I do want to meet my baby and be awake, me having a full blown panic attack is not going to make surgery possible. Last time I had a full panic attack I was on a train and ended up unconcious on the floor and had to be carried off.

CalypsoLilt · 05/10/2015 19:43

rufus panic attacks are awful I feel your pain :( there's plenty of time in the next few months to get it all sorted. Can you try and get a different day? What about a different hospital?

Have you tried CBT for anxiety? Flowers

Rufus200 · 05/10/2015 20:16

calypso I had CBT for depression, the therapist was not interested in my anxiety and completely ignored it and signed me off as soon as she got my depression down from the danger zone. I've written a long email explanation to the receptionist but I did tell her all of it when she promised me she would get me the 1st slot. I'm a bit stuck with choice of days as surgeon doesn't operate every day and doesn't operate anywhere else. I have my 24 week appt a week tomorrow so if they don't sort it by then I will make sure they sort it when I'm there.
