My scan is on Wednesday morning and I am now absolutely petrified! My mum has just wound me up that one of her friend's daughter has just had her 20 week scan and it wasn't good news. I'm not going to share the details because I don't want to upset anyone. My mum and my cousin both also had bad news at 20 week scans so I was already scared with the family history. It is going to be along couple of days waiting and stressing!

RattyCatty · 20/09/2015 19:37

carlton is your scan on Thursday? If so we are scan buddies.

rufus glad the swelling has gone down. I am so worried about scan - I can't seem to stop googling stuff. I hope your mum's friend's daughter is ok.

Carltonlives · 20/09/2015 20:04

Yes Thursday morning ratty. I'm nervous and excited and just feel like I want it to be here and over now!

RattyCatty · 20/09/2015 20:16

I know me too carlton mine isn't till 4pm so do let me know how you get on!

Sighing · 20/09/2015 20:19

ratty: step away ftom google!
There's cake for anyone who wants it here Cake my friend surprised me today with an awesome TARDIS cake for my thirtytenth birthday today. No way I can eat it all!

RattyCatty · 20/09/2015 20:23

Haha thanks sighing! I think I have exhausted my searches (for now!) so trying to step away this week!

MaisieDotes · 20/09/2015 20:43

I have my scan in the morning! Exciting Smile

MaisieDotes · 20/09/2015 20:45

Ooh happy birthday sighing ! I'd like some Cake

Thanks!

haquoi123 · 20/09/2015 21:04

Happy birthday sighing! Tardis cake is pretty awesome!

Thanks for all the support and calls for cake. I didn't in the end, but today ate the majority of a pack of oreos instead and have bloat so bad it feels like my spine is about to come unhooked! Craving satisfied though Grin Anyone else still suffering with boat? I think mine is going to be a staple of this pregnancy (she says forgetting she's halfway through).

Good luck for scans tomorrow! No googling! And try to keep positive. People keep telling me that the human race has survived so long, which even if only a small comfort is at least something Flowers

haquoi123 · 20/09/2015 21:09

Ooh, stretch mark alert! Just found some :) quite excited about it!! Confused

Rufus200 · 20/09/2015 21:20

Happy Birthday sighing

haquoi where are your stretch marks?

haquoi123 · 20/09/2015 21:25

Just on my hips. They're not too obvious, (I thought they'd be redder), and I've probably had them for a few days, but not silver so they're definitely new

RattyCatty · 20/09/2015 21:47

Happy birthday sighing and good luck tomo maisie let us know how you get on x

madsaz76 · 20/09/2015 21:47

Happy birthday sighing Smile

I have discovered the babes does not approve of me lying on my stomach for a sneaky back rub and began kicking the hell out of me (which is kind of good)

It has prompted DH to sit reading Dr Seuss books to my belly - which has the advantage of both being cute and seeing him utterly distracted while I play candy crush. ....

cremedecacao · 20/09/2015 23:13

Hello! I dipped into this thread ages ago but haven't been back since, sorry!

I have a burning question now though- I haven't had my16 week appointment. It was never mentioned at 8 week appointment or 12 (well 13+5...) week scan. I'm now 17+4 Confused

Am I meant to have one? Should I ring GP and book one?

Happytimes2 · 21/09/2015 01:04

Creme I'd ring mw or go and ask. Did they say when ud next see them? I don't see mine now until 34 weeks!
Rufus my scan is in wed to. And in also shit scared cos I know people who had bad news at 20 w scans but of course I know many many more who had good news! But I do dwell in the bad ones so fingers crossed for everyone x

Happytimes2 · 21/09/2015 01:13

Also I just scared myself a little at work. We have an aggressive patient (not unusual) but he punched another member of staff in the side earlier. I'm norm good at reading situations and nice information quickly but apparently he gave no warning. Makes me feel a but vulnerable! Just wanted to get this off my chest and dh would worry too much!

cremedecacao · 21/09/2015 07:04

Happy, I can't remember her saying anything about when I'd next see her, just that I would have the scans. I don't have a number for my midwife, was never given one. As I see her at the GP I presume I ring them!? I feel very hopeless!

NorthernChinchilla · 21/09/2015 09:49

I'd definitely call your GP and ask to make an appointment creme; if they don't offer them (which is unlikely) they'll be sure to tell you!
That is scary happy; I deal with a similar clientele, as does DP, and you do learn to read the signs- they're often being broadcast in neon skywriting!- so when someone just goes it is scary. Have you been risk assessed in your current role?

Up early and at a conference in London, begins a stupidly busy week where I'm barely in the Office. What happened to taking it easy?! Confused

Carltonlives · 21/09/2015 11:20

Happy birthday for yesterday sighing!

happy that sounds really scary, look after yourself

maisie hope all goes well this morning, let us know how you get on. Do you plan to find out what you're having?

I'm 20 weeks today!! Halfway which feels like such a milestone Grin woke up with awful stomach ache though which hasn't gone yet so that sucks. Anyone else feel the baby kick really low down? All the kicks I've felt have been super low - at my knicker line almost. I feel like I'm carrying much lower this time but I'm happy about that at the moment as my first felt like she was under my ribs the whole time and it was so painful and I had awful heartburn with her so hoping to avoid that this time (will probably just exchange it for a different set of symptoms but trying not to focus on that!)

CalypsoLilt · 21/09/2015 11:23

good luck for your scans everyone!

do they do photos for 20 week scans?

MaisieDotes · 21/09/2015 11:31

Hi all, I'm just back from my scan and all is well! Smile

I have to admit I was quite nervous going in there, so I'm relieved. The sonographer spent an age zooming in on the baby's heart and pausing and zooming again and pausing, I was starting to get a bit worried but after long minutes of silence she eventually muttered something about not being able to see due to the baby's position, and that everything looked fine.

carlton I actually found out that I'm having a boy when I had the Harmony test done at 10 weeks! They can tell by chromosomal analysis. It was way back on one of our earlier threads so I must have been under my previous username but yes, I think I was the founder member of team blue!

It's great as DS and this baby will only be 17 months apart so hopefully they will be buddies growing up or arch enemies!

And yes I always feel kicks very low down, it was the same with DS who was breech until about 36 weeks. The scan showed this baby is also breech to date, but plenty of time for that to change Smile

Carltonlives · 21/09/2015 11:43

Aww yay glad everything is well maisie! And congrats on another boy! I'm glad they took their time to check everything properly.
Ah I didn't even think that baby could be breech! I bet that's it, my first was never breech that I know of so that explains it Smile

haquoi123 · 21/09/2015 12:08

Wonderful news maisie! I've never considered baby being breech either, I assumed it'd still be twirling around in there! Carlton my bubs sometimes feels very low, but I've also had quite high kicking /punching so I'm not sure what it's doing! I think I'm carrying high though...

XingXingFox · 21/09/2015 12:42

Oh happy that's rubbish! How scary!

maisie yay for good scan news and boy! Hopefully the first of many, there's lots this week!

I'm really really nervous about mine!
