Rufus, we're doing loads of work on our house at the moment (mostly ourselves). It's so damn stressful isn't it? We're going to have to paint at least 3 rooms at some point (once the rendering and plastering is done) but we're going to get low VOC paint so I should be OK with the fumes... I think you can even get paint with no VOC now... might be worth looking into if you're going to be doing so much painting.

Stocking here! Had to make a totally new account after hackergate, its been a PITA.

17 weeks today! DH & I still separated but we're attempting to get on after I spent a month completely ignoring calls/texts/emails. I've hired a cleaner 2 hours a week to lift the burden a little. Insomnia has started despite my meds, so I'm cutting them down as they aren't doing their job properly (possibly hormones interfering) and I would like to avoid staying in hospital for 3-5 days to have baby monitored for withdrawal Sad Heartbeat nice and strong, next scan on 30th, Consultant on 16th.

Flowers For those having a hard time.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 07/09/2015 11:24

For those having sibling issues - I feel your feels. Today the sister I have very little to do with called me a transphobic homophobic bigot who hates her. Why? Because I'm a Christian, I was baptised recently, so this obvs means I want to kill all the gays. Hmm Frankly I don't really care who she has in her bed. She's a heavy drinking weed smoking empath lesbian but currently has a boyfriend vegan. She is a classic Narc like our mother, who she is very close to and I've been NC with for 12 years because she was/is an alcoholic drug taking abuseful neglectful compulsive liar.

Urgh.

CalypsoLilt · 07/09/2015 12:54

NorthernChinchilla please can I steal your plan for the next 5 months?! I don't know where to start!

Spent almost the entire weekend building 2 PAX Ikea wardrobes, today my hips are very sore and I've pledged to resume yoga (which I did regularly pre being preggers) ASAP.

Next midwife appointment tomorrow, I'm worried they will say I haven't gained enough weight (only 5 lbs since booking in and I'm 17+1).

Last night I felt a very definite bump on the side of my tummy..... may have been head or bum? Can't remember if I said but last week baby woke me with 3 swift kicks in the middle of the night :)

catching up from the weekend...

montague sorry your BIL is being a turd. I hope that this pulls you and your sister closer especially as your children will be close in age.

rufus I went to the Summer Solstice last year at Stonehenge... it was AMAZING!!! Have you been? Also, I think you can get fume-reduced paint for pregnancy? oops just saw banana said the same thing. Either way, ventilation, ventilation, ventilation!

hi kneehigh/stocking totally missed your separation from OH...... wtf happened? is this Baby #1? PM me if you need to offload.

Looks like we all have family troubles.... I haven't spoken to my mother for about 6 years (long story) and I've just sent her a card with my 12 week scan photo....so watch this space.

sending Monday love to everyone Brew

Mawsymoo · 07/09/2015 13:03

Calypso I'm 20 weeks and only up 4.5lb since the very beginning (and unlike the last pregnancy didn't lose (or gain) any weight in the first trimester) so I'm planning to hit up the supermarket tonight and grab some nuts and other calorific but healthy snacks that I can nibble on at my desk. I'm a slim build anyway but my wedding ring is very loose at the moment so I must have lost weight from the rest of me while gaining bump. I know I'll probably start gaining a bit more steadily now so I'm not going to worry about it too much but I need to keep an eye on it. Let me know if your midwife has any tips.

CalypsoLilt · 07/09/2015 13:15

Mawsy did you weigh in at your 16 week midwife appointment? I don't understand why I haven't gained more, I have a voracious appetite and eat every 1-3 hours. I'm definitely not a gym bunny and I've only just started feeling well enough to work to work again (20 mins each way). I'm 5' 8" and was 10 stone at my booking in....will let you know what the midwife says tomorrow :)

clarabellski · 07/09/2015 13:17

Hi everyone, Flowers to those having a hard time with their families at the moment.

Calypso, would also be interested in what your midwife says! I'm still 4lb lighter than I was before BFP and 18 weeks today. I'm off to Italy for a week's holiday this weekend though so the weight may start to go on then! Wink Mmmm, pizza.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 07/09/2015 13:50

I'm only 6lbs up since booking appointment, however having a stubborn lower wisdom tooth removed hampered my eating for a good 3 weeks but I am catching up now thats for sure, the last few days I've been eating everything in sight Grin 5'3 here and currently 11st 6lbs. I was 8st 3lbs when I fell PG with DD1, 7 years ago, between depression and meds and DD2, I've slowly gained 3 stone over the last few years. I give no bothers.

Calypso my M tries to send my DDs cards and presents via my much younger teenage sisters, she puts DSis name on the gifts so I can't refuse them and then tells people I accept gifts but won't let her see them Hmm I tried to build bridges 3 years ago and all that 7 months did was remind me why I'd gone NC and why I didn't want that toxic harpies around my kids. ExDP gave her short shrift when she tried to worm around him, he cannot stand the woman.

DH and I, well. He has some alcohol issues left over from the death of his baby son some years ago, he works hard but gets resentful paying bills Hmm Constant rows about my frittering money away (on what, DH? Gas? Electric? Food? Rent?) Bloody ridiculous. We're in marriage counselling and living apart at the moment.

My BP was low last week, 88/68, never had that before, it usually runs quite high. Have some very definite movement from squish now and have settled on a boys name, girls names are proving trickier. I ordered Little Lamb Bamboo nappies last week, they are sooo soft!

CalypsoLilt · 07/09/2015 14:01

I hear you Knees, I'm really not sure how things are going to pan out with my mother. She doesn't see any of her grandchildren now (7 of) and has never met any of her great grand children (3 of). The whole situation is very sad, but sounds similar to your mother, is very toxic and manipulative. My mother is 70 now so y'know....

Keep us posted with the marriage counselling. Me and the OH are in the process of organising some; last week he had an epic sulk and ignored me for 3 days. I told him I cannot cope with that behaviour, not now and especially not when the baby comes. Like rufus said, times are a-changing.

very jealous of your nappy purchases, I haven't even started looking at brands Star

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 07/09/2015 14:17

I've been a bit obsessive about cloth nappies Blush I have bumGenius newborns and Close Pop In newborns on the way too. I'm also rebelling and having just a sling (or three) and car seat with no pram. Shock

Troika · 07/09/2015 14:22

Back with a new username due to a bit of RL stalkery. Nothing serious but I prefer to remain more anonymous so will probably change every few months now. Obviously don't want to say who I am as that defeats the point but hopefully you will figure it out fairly easily.

Banana I may not have posted but you were in my thoughts and I was checking for updates. I am absolutely delighted for you, it's a good feeling to know things are ok isn't it.

Charlotte sorry to hear things aren't so good for you, fingers crossed things progress well for you.

Rufus how are things with dh now?

Stocking pleased things are more amicable for you now.

The problem with not posting for ages is that I forget who said what! So apologies for missing anyone.

Re weight gain I am approx 2.5- 3 kg heavier than pre pregnancy, I don't really weigh myself often though so that is an estimate based on whenever I actually did!

I have quite a little bump as I have such a short torso and am thin so everything shows but I don't think it's obviously pregnancy unless you know I am. People are probably wondering though.

CalypsoLilt · 07/09/2015 14:27

knees have you bought them all from new? did you go to a shop or buy them online?

how long do you reckon you can manage without a pram? 3-4 months? I think I want the pram just to sling my bag underneath ;)

Troika · 07/09/2015 14:37

Also very envious of you buying nappies knees. I still have mine from the DC and it kind of defeats the point if I buy new ones for each baby...

I got a lot from babykind previously, and 2nds from eBay before they banned 2nd hand nappies.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 07/09/2015 14:44

Babame and babipur are my current favourite websites. Little Lambs are half price at the moment and the Close are £36 for a box of 10. bumGenius are £10 each so quite pricey in comparison but they're all in ones, I've only ordered 2 of those. If They turn out to be decent I'll buy more.

3/4 months is the aim - although with 2 book bags, 2 packed lunches and 2 rucksacks to cart to and from school I'll probably end up cracking sooner. I threatened to buy a granny trolley to stick em in.

Mawsymoo · 07/09/2015 14:45

Calypso I'm under consultant care and have all of my appointments with him. He weighed me at 12 weeks but I think that's just to get a base and determine if I'm in the healthy BMI range as on my pregnancy with DS he didn't weigh me again for the whole pregnancy. I don't think I'm eating more than usual so I probably just need to add in a couple of extra snacks to the day.

I haven't bought anything for the baby yet as I don't know where we'll be living and if we're going to move house I don't want to have to bring anything extra with me. I didn't buy til the very end with DS either, but if the scan goes well next week I'm planning to buy a little teddy/blankie for the baby and then I will hang on and see how things pan out.

jellypi3 · 07/09/2015 15:12

we bought a baby grow when we had our 12 week scan but nothing since, we're in the process of moving house so DP doesn't want baby stuff cluttering our place. Not that that's stopped others buying us bits!

CalypsoLilt · 07/09/2015 15:18

troika I wondered why when I looked on ebay the other day there was nothing there...... why did they ban 2nd hand nappies?!

knees you're so organised, you're my nappy hero Wine

You could get something like this?! pull along cart

mawsy I feel it's too early to buy stuff and yet the "baby" room is slowly filling up ;)

MaisieDotes · 07/09/2015 17:31

Uhh... I've put on 5 kilos since the start Blush I was 65 and now I'm 70.

My bump is also ginormous . Even DD remarked on it over the weekend. Anything stripes seems to accentuate it hugely. Covering up in a big black jumper today.

I really admire the cloth-nappy users here. I find it challenging enough to keep up with the washing as is!

goneswimming · 07/09/2015 19:21

Hi knees I'm excited by your nappy buying- I'm going to use cloth ones I think, just on the basis of how horrendous the landfill of throw-away seems (I'm totally prepared to change my mind when reality hits, though, happily naive first timer at the moment!) How do you choose which ones to get though?

Rufus200 · 07/09/2015 19:28

troika DH is behaving himself very well and was an angel at the party that the whole strop was about!

Everything that could go wrong today with the house has! I just don't see how at this rate we are ever going to get to move to the new house. Just want to cry. I am so sick of moronic men! Everything that has gone wrong is down to pure male stupidity and incompetence!!!

Been buying baby stuff all afternoon to cheer myself up. Only clothes not anything that I will actually sensibly need for the baby. I will openly admit I am completely out of control. My mum has just told me my cousin had her 12 wk scan today and there was only a sac, they are all heartbroken. Puts it in perspective for me that I just need to ignore all the shit going on and concentrate on me and my baby.

goldmaple · 07/09/2015 19:46

I'm already up a stone. I'm quite small to start worth so I will look huge by the end!!
For those of you who have not gained much, I would say enjoy it while you can. As long as the baby is growing of course.
Does anyone else retain water?? My fingers swelled so much last time I couldn't make a fist and they ached at night... Already my ring isn't fitting:(

Sorry to hear of the external stresses so many of you have (ie. Family) pregnancy is hard enough without that.

I finally told my DC about the baby. DD is excited, DS seems excited/indifferent. Neither has thought to ask how the baby got in thereSmile

knees I hope the counselling helps and everything works out - however is best.

rufus sorry to hear about your cousin. That is always so heart breaking.
When I'm yelling at DC or feeling sick/tired it is so easy to take everything for granted. I need to focus on all the good!

Sighing · 07/09/2015 20:09

I actually lost in the first trimester, but it's starting to go on now (well I haven't checked, but the food I've been eating Blush).
Goldmaple, glad telling dc has gone well. I am delaying telling my 2dd as they will tell EVERYONE. Including my mum. There's issues there. But after 20 weeks I will tell my girls. Hopefully I'll get nearly a month until the girls see my mum. I'm anxious about how it will go. I've got books and they mainly know (7&9) about babies and how they're made. But I am waiting for more technical questions. (But hoping they don't throw them in at family parties!).

MaisieDotes · 07/09/2015 20:25

Oh how sad for your cousin rufus Sad

gone re the nappies- yes to the landfill aspect and also, we pay for bin collection here and our bills have shot up. It used to be about 30 or 40 euro every couple of months and now it's €100!! What will it be like when I have two in nappies. Maybe I should consider the cloth ones really.

NorthernChinchilla · 07/09/2015 20:52

Cheerfully oblivious to how much I've put on; I've never owned scales on a point of principle! I only ever find out how much I weigh when I have medical appointments, and seeing as 90% of those have been pregnancy-related over the past five years, I've got no idea of the baseline as it were.

Got a proper little bump though, it's been commented upon how much I'm showing for 16 weeks; this is baby no.2 and pregnancy no 3, and my second pregnancy this year, so I'm not surprised. Slim to average so it shows too.

Sounds like it's going to be a rough few months for your sister Maisie, not to mention Xmas...tough for you supporting her when you've got your own pregnancy to focus on too.

Good to see you back stocking/arrow, had wondered how you were getting on. Damn good move on the cleaner, though sorry to hear you (and so many others Sad) have broader family issues too. Your sister does sound a little..um..high maintenance? And of course all x-squillion Christians and their beliefs are identical and orthodox!!

Happy to nerd out discuss planning calypso. For us first time round there was sooooooo much to do as we had to re-arrange three rooms over three floors to sort out DS's room. Easier this time I admit! Good luck with your Mum too.

RattyCatty · 07/09/2015 22:12

Hi all - a lot going on with some of you, sending strong vibes & positivity Flowers
