Ooh can you provide a link to the weight gain calculator when you get the chance blackandwhite? I'm sure I've put on too much, was terrible up until about 17 weeks and I'm better now but still have several junk food days a week! I've put on a stone and am 21+5 Blush in fairness though I haven't gained anything extra in the last couple of weeks so I'm hoping it will slow down. 18 weeks to go, don't really want to put on another 18 lbs as that'll be 32 lbs altogether eep! I was slim before getting pregnant though, clinging on to that!

DotterP · 27/08/2015 09:39

Just googled pregnancy weight gain chart and found this one which is based on your pre-pregnancy BMI (American, so you have to convert everything to pounds!) www.babycenter.com/pregnancy-weight-gain-estimator

I had been worrying as I started on a high BMI (31) so I know I need to be extra careful about how much I gain. I managed to only gain 1lb for the 1st trimester, but got on the scales today and I have put on another 7lb since then! To be fair, I haven't been eating carefully in the last few weeks - although it's been fairly varied as I like fruit and veg, I have just been eating as much and whatever I fancy. I am now just over the maximum recommended weight gain for my BMI at 18 weeks, only by about ~1lb but still disappointed. I really need to start being more careful about what I eat! Blush My bump really popped at about 16-17 weeks, so hoping it will slow down a bit as I know weight gain can happen in 'jumps'. Being short, I already feel like I look like a beach ball with arms and legs!

Sorry you've been in so much pain and that it's kept you awake, b&w Sad Hope the heat and chocolate has been helping.

Good luck to those with scans today! I don't know if everyone's been keeping the stats updated with blue / pink / yellow but I count 8 pink and 7 blue - and that 8 includes ready's twins Smile 13 yellows but lots without any info (or maybe decisions?) yet...

Blackandwhitecat3 · 27/08/2015 09:43

Yes dotter, they're just averaging out a healthy weight gain over all the weeks, so I think so long as you slow down a bit you'll be ok.

I'm sure there's calcium in cake Grin

EdgarAllenPoe · 27/08/2015 10:10

I'm pretty sure I've gained too much too quickly especially since I'm short and was a little overweight to begin with. I was up by a stone at 20 weeks. I've decided not to worry about it. I lost weight before getting pregnant, I can do it again. It's not as though I am purposefully letting myself eat nothing but crap (although I am slacker than when I was losing weight). And on the plus side, it does appear to be all bump and boobs since my old clothes still fit everywhere else (just not there!).

Lookingforadvice123 · 27/08/2015 10:23

Thanks dotter! The chart is confusing to me (pregnancy has made me thick) but I think I might be ahead on my weight gain, although it says I can gain 25-35 lbs in total and I think I'm still on target for that, although it will be the upper end of that range!

dotter and edgar I sort of feel the same tbh, I don't want to gain too much weight but my original plan of only gaining 2 stone is probably out the window unless I become super healthy now (well after my hols in a week!). But I will be happy if I only gain 2.5 stone, and I know I will lose it as I don't find it hard to lose weight if I put my mind to it as I enjoy working out and eating healthy when you see the pounds dropping off. YOLO after all!

brickiemum2 · 27/08/2015 10:41

I weighed myself yesterday and I've put on exactly 2kg since I found out I was pregnant. I think that's about 4.4lbs?
If anyone can update the stats sheet for me can you put me in as team yellow and staying that way please. I can't seem to edit it on my kindle.

DotterP · 27/08/2015 11:02

Sorry it's confusing Looking. I'm afraid I'm a science geek, so I love a good chart :) Although I definitely feel like pregnancy has numbed my brain too. Basically, the green dot on the chart is your current weight and week of pregnancy based on what info you put in the boxes. Ideally your dot should be somewhere between the two lines that are plotted on the chart - the bottom line being the minimum, and the top line being the maximum recommended weight gain over time. Bearing in mind as B&W says it is an average over time, and an average for all women and we are all different, so some variation around that isn't the end of the world.

I'm not so worried about losing the weight after, as I have managed to lose weight before and know that is mainly motivation for me. Just worried about the impact of gaining too much during pregnancy on my health and the baby. Despite the higher BMI I'm still low-risk at the moment, and hoping to keep it that way if I can as I would really love a water birth!

tinyme135 · 27/08/2015 11:06

went to see the consultant today and been discharged straight away too :)

I ain't weighed myself since the midwife weighed me, too scared to look haha

lilyb84 · 27/08/2015 12:24

brickie I've added yellow to your stats.

tiny that's great news! So you'll be mw led now?

I've put on 3 or 4 pounds depending on when I weight myself but think I lost a bit of weight in the first couple of months from not drinking and not having much appetite. Hoping all future weight goes to the bump.. Smile

tinyme135 · 27/08/2015 12:45

Yeah I think I will so hopefully I'll be able to have my birth in the birthing suite.

kep1979 · 27/08/2015 13:03

I have seen this pregnancy weight gain calculator, which is helping to reassure me I'm not ballooning! www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html

kep1979 · 27/08/2015 13:19

crumble And we also accrue the bank holidays whilst on mat leave too..... just mentioning as HR have a tendency to "forget" those!

I need to take a leaf out of some of your books and try to ignore the weight gain. At first I lost weight and then hadn't put any on at all, and was worried about not gaining enough for baby's health.... but now I've started gaining (around 4kg to date) I am finding it difficult. And I definitely cannot risk any kind of watching what I eat with my AN history. But at the same time I really don't want to see anyone about it as I've been recovered for 5 years now, and feel like I've escaped from that particular black hole, and even seeing anyone could suck me back in. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense.... but useful to be able to get it off my chest.

In other news I had a big presentation at work for the board and it went well; Bean was obviously excited too as she was kicking away all the way through it Smile.

Did we have someone on here who was an employment law guru? Got a question about redundancy rights for my sister.... and also a quick question about changing line management to make managing my maternity cover easier! If I've just dreamed it I wouldn't be surprised - I am having the most vivid and disturbing dreams this week!

Lookingforadvice123 · 27/08/2015 13:44

kep you're doing amazing with your history of AN, do what you find most helpful whether that's weighing on a regular basis or leaving it until you get weighed by the midwife.

jmac88 · 27/08/2015 13:59

Hey elvi I'm with kings too and my scan is not until 9th sept. Think they do them later there as mw told me they always book them after 22 weeks. Are you going for mw lead unit?

Elvi1 · 27/08/2015 18:32

Hey **jmac88! Nice to know that a few ladies using Kings so that we can compare notes. Did mw say why they book the anomaly scan at 22 weeks rather than 20? Seems that most of the ladies on here are having their around the 20wk mark. I don't mind too much - just curious as to why. I assume I will be mw lead unit if that's the norm - or do I have a choice? Ha I'm completely new to this and mw hasn't mentioned any birth plan at all, although I guess that will be discussed in a later appointment. I do keep missing things I'm supposed to do though - the mw at my 16wk appointment told me off for not submitting my forms for antenatal classes and breast feeding, but I'm not sure if cos the mw at my booking in app forgot to tell me or whether I was so overwhelmed with info that I missed instructions! What about you - will you be in the mw lead unit?

Hope everyone is having a good day. I haven't weighed myself since approx. 10 weeks. Although I think/hope my weight gain is mostly baby growth, I'm aware that I am not as active as I used to be and I think jumping on the scales will draw my attention to my not-so-toned body! I think if feel ok in yourself then step away from the scales: might give you unnecessary anxiety.

tinyme135 · 27/08/2015 19:11

Work has realised they was in the wrong and owe me for today so I'm getting a day off next week haha love it :)

lilyb84 · 27/08/2015 19:29

Yay tiny glad to hear it!

jmac and elvi I'm at King's too and my scan is 15th Sep at 21+4. Didn't realise they book later there as common practice, I was also wondering why mine's so much later than everyone else's! I think only one person on here has their scan after me?!

elvi my mw asked at my booking appt where I want to give birth and at 9 weeks I had literally no idea. I'm erring towards the midwife led unit but not planning on making a decision until I have to - and am well aware things probably won't go to plan.

Midwives seem lovely there so far though!

melonface · 27/08/2015 19:52

Evening all! I haven't dared step on the scales.....!

tinyme135 · 27/08/2015 20:11

My mw just asked me what hospital I wanted (had a choice of two) and I chose the hospital I did as I knew there was a birthing centre and have always wanted to give birth there.

Coffee - asos maternity jumpsuit with sheer panel and embellishment - black
Here's the link. Grin
I went to John Lewis tonight and had a wee look at prams. First time! Eeeeek!!!
How on earth do you choose??? They all look the same??? I liked the Bugaboo selections but are so....expensive. There was one called Julez & that was fancy looking but very expensive. Then there was silver cross which I really liked but were 1/2 the price so then I thought does that mean they're not as good?? Noooooooooooo idea!!!!
18+2

Elvi1 · 27/08/2015 21:10

Sounds like it might be the usual thing to discuss in the booking in app then (where you want to give birth), I wonder if my mw didn't mention anything because I was very nervous/upset having had an early mc and perhaps thought I wasn't ready to think too far ahead other than reaching the 12wk mark.

Elvi1 · 27/08/2015 21:14

My sis-in-law ended up taking her silver cross back after 10 weeks - I think she found it difficult to manoeuvre the pram along with controlling two twin boys (so difficulty steering one handed I think). But I'm sure there are others who might have got on well with the silver cross

AlohaMama · 27/08/2015 21:27

elvi my mw only mentioned it to point out that there was a booklet to read which explained my options on locations. From flicking thru the notes I think at a later apt you discuss your birth plan which I would assume included location. The only reason to think about it early is to go and look round places but I'm sure at our mw led centre you can't look round till u are quite far along.

tinyme135 · 27/08/2015 22:06

I've got the silver cross and the one I've got is rather 9.1/10 took it for a spin the mothercare and when I got it I made sure it was fine. This is the name of mine Silver Cross 3D Pram And Pushchair Travel System.
