Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh CFK so happy for you!

liath · 27/11/2006 17:04

Hi all,
Just a quickie, haven't had a chance to catch up on posts, will try to later.

Scan today - good news was the sex was obvious, another little boy to even up the numbers a bit!

Unfortunately there may be a problem with a bockage or narrowing in the intestine - have to get scanned again but worst case scenario is baby needs an op soon after birth . Am relieved we know about it & cross that with the scan situation here if we hadn't paid for this scan privately we'd have been none the wiser until baby became ill after birth. May write to my MSP especially as the post code lottery for scans was in the news up here today.

Anyhow, fingers crossed, everything might look OK when I'm rescanned.

AngeG · 27/11/2006 17:06

Congrats on the scans Bramshott and Cornflakekid - yay a blue one to add to the list.

I can sympathise with the SPD went to the Chiropractor today who bascially told me off for doing too much over the weekend. I knew I had as had been in terrible pain.
Haven't said anything to mw or consultant about it yet because I haven't seen either of them. Can't remember if I said but after I saw the consultant at 16wks and he said how often he wanted to see me, the next time I saw the mw she had a strop about how often he was seeing me and said well I'll see you after it's born then. She was really quite rude and upset me a little and then took my blood pressure and had the cheek to tell me it was a little high

Seeing consultant on Thurs so will mention it then and see about some supports or anything to help. Any recommendations/advice welcome.

1becomes3 · 27/11/2006 17:10

yeay another blue!!! congratulations laith

Anyone else having their scan today i feel we are on a roll with the blues.

bubblez · 27/11/2006 17:12

Hello all,

OMG I just can't keep up!! Another thread already!!

Ok errrm let me try to remember..... From the last thread I wanted to say congrats to zazas on pink bean and to twinkle on your pos pink bean (mines a 'pos' pink too, so itching to know for sure) and to Ange on your scan.

On this thread congrats to CFK on your blue bean and to bramshott on your scan (did you find out the flavour?)

Oh and wasn't katty44 due a scan today? How did it go?

Erm... let me think.... Oh yeah and big {{{{{hug}}}}} to 1b3 for dreadful SS's.

Ok I think that I have covered most people sorry if I missed anyone out.

Today was a little sad as I applied to a nursery for dd I really think that she will love going to nursery, when we came home she kept asking to go back to school. Her mummy on the other hand is finding just the thought of letting her go very .

I think bean is in training to compete in a boxing tornament....

Is anyone elses hair falling out a lot? I'm starting to worry that by the end of this pregnancy I'll be bald. I wonder if there is a connection eg loss of hairloss in mummy = very hairy baby ....(actually maybe not such a good thing for a pink bean )

21weeks
xzx

AngeG · 27/11/2006 17:13

Liath - another boy. It's starting to even up a little. Sorry to hear it was a little worrying, but always good to be prepared I think.
Am really for you that had you not paid for a private scan it wouldn't have been picked up at all.

Sending you lots of hugs and try not to worry, easier said than done I know. xxx

bubblez · 27/11/2006 17:14

Omg and congrats to laith on another blue bean ....

nuttygirl · 27/11/2006 17:16

Thanks CFK, sorry to hear about the SPD.Unfortunately don't think we can afford the fancy wraps...so it's likely it will be plastic pants...any recommendations on these?

hmm...bean is getting hungry...off to raid the kitchen!!!

bubblez · 27/11/2006 17:17

oh and @ spelling mistakes on first post.....

AngeG · 27/11/2006 17:18

Bubblez - nursery is really difficult for us mums. The poor lo's can't win if they were really upset and didn't want to stay we'd be really upset and if they really enjoy it and want to go back we still get upset.

You're right though it is really good for them for lots of different. Try to console yourself with that.

Sending you lots of hugs xx

Thanks for the congrats on the scan. I think this one might be another boy but will have to wait and see. I was convinced last time ds was a girl obviously I was wrong

nuttygirl · 27/11/2006 17:20

Oh and congrats Liath...can't remember anything at the mo!!!

Bubblez...know what you mean but my bean is practicing (sp???) to be a gymnast...had feet over head during scan and has been doing somersaults ever since!!!

CornflakeKid · 27/11/2006 17:25

Congrats on scans!

Nuttygirl - would go for the mothercare box then - but do keep an eye out on ebay for cheaper ones - if my sister sends me her small wraps - you can have them as I have bought some new rikkis.

Having a small glass of wine to celebrate and thai green curry ...yuuuummmmmyyyyyy!

bubblez · 27/11/2006 17:31

Oh I know AngeG, I didn't think I would feel so sad. I can't bear the thought that my little girl is going to be out of my site and protection, nor the realisation that she is getting bigger. I think I'm going to break down when I eventually have to buy her a school uniform. I'm glad that she is so excited already about going though it makes it a little easier somehow to know that she is happy to go.

Nuttygirl - Has your bean started responding to sounds yet??

On the weekend one of dp's friends came round (he has a particularly booming baratone voice) and bean went loopy everytime he spoke. Bean also responds to other male voices.

Katy44 · 27/11/2006 17:58

Liath and CFK congratulations on your blue beans!
Liath, when is your next scan? Hope you find out reassuring news then, but it's good you've had this scan to find out in advance!!

Had my scan today, everything was fine, so very relieved. The only issue was that I have a 'low lying' placenta which is blocking the 'exit' (found that term very amusing, not sure why!) - bramshott, is that the same as being low? What does anterior mean? Is it really the case that they tend to sort themselves out?

Well, all I know about my baby is that s/he's fidgety (kept moving out of the way when the mw was trying to take measurements) and also shy - kept his/her legs firmly together throughout. I was surprised at how disappointed I was about this - I had built up my hopes so much of finding out.

OP posts:
weeonion · 27/11/2006 18:13

wayhey - loads of news.

cfk - congrats on teh blue bean
liath - congrats on yr blue bean too. i agree with re the scans - email me and i will let you know what i have been doing with my msp and the health dept up here... will u have to pay for the 2nd scna or will the Royal Infirmary do that?
katy44 - shame yr bean was being shy - maybe next time??

1b3 - i also used to work with young people and i think yr ss needs to be told he overstepped the mark/ boundary etc. he ha to learn, esp athis age that reactign liek that aint goona be appropriate and get him far. awful for you and yr dd - he has to see the impact of what his actions. hope u r ok tho and lok after yrself
and those 2 beans!!

eca · 27/11/2006 18:26

woohoo! congrats on all the scans. The blue beans are making a comeback! Sorry yours was shy Katy.

i was reading another thread earlier where people were sharing how their scan gender predictions were wrong! Made me unsure about finding out! What do you think? Anyone know how accurate these scans are??

Spoke to my local NCT rep today - who was LOVELY - about antenatal classes. They have space for me and dh but it's about 1hr drive away because I live in the middle of nowhere!

Bugmum · 27/11/2006 19:31

Just popping in to say a big congrats to all scan people, and go blue beans!

Oh, I sooooo want to find out; I'll be gutted if my bean is shy (next week).

I wonder what our pink-blue tally is to date?

CaptainDippy · 27/11/2006 20:08

Evening!

Been a good day today, girls have been so lovely, which was nice - perhaps they are responding to the fact I feel more and positive atm, which is great!

@ the student working with your DH nutty - how awful - thinking of his family. With regards to Terries - 30 will be plenty and I have used plastic pants for both of my DD's and never had any trouble - they are soooooo much cheaper than wraps and if they're reeeeeally minging, then you can just chuck them - hurrah! By far the cheaper option imho! I don't personally use nappy sacks. I use a "wet bag" I bought from the funky lentil-weaving baby shop I work in. It is basically just a completely waterproof PE kit type bag you can stick dirties when you are out-and-about and plonk them into your nappy pail when you get home along with a few drop of tea tree oil (no need to soak them!) Go for it girl!

Congrats on the exciting scans Bramshott, Katy44, Liath and Cornflake - Go blue beans - superb!! @ Blue Bean's intestine prob Liath - hope it is not too serious - can't BELIEVE they would not have picked it up if you hadn't had a private scan!! Grrrr! Do let usk now when your next appointment will be....

@ awful SPD Cornflake - and mega sympathies to all who are suffering atm. [hugs]

Hope all is ok with the clot Bramshott- when are you next going for an appointment??

Gosh I am tired - going to snuggle down with a cuppa and my book asap!!

CaptainDippy · 27/11/2006 20:09

South-East Mummies - don't forget our Meet Up thread!!

Sexonlegs · 27/11/2006 21:07

Evening all. Congrats to all on the scans - so blue beans for Liath and CFK. Hurrah!
Liath and Bramshott, sorry you both had issues identified. I hope the midwives/consultants take good care of you.
I had a low placenta with dd at 20 weeks and they gave me another scan at 34 weeks I think. If it is still low they may need to do a c section delivery.
Sorry so many of you are suffering with SPD. I have been experiencing some discomfort but don't think it is SPD - just feels like I have been kicked in the nether regions - really heavy feeling. Nice!
So, who has scans tomorrow then? Good luck and we look forward to hearing all about it!!
xx

Bramshott · 27/11/2006 22:22

Sorry GGF and others who've been burning with curiosity all afternoon while I've been chasing DD round the ballet class / swimming pool - should have said that we're not finding out the flavour!! Sorry!!

SOL has it right about the low-lying placenta (placenta previa - anterior placenta is one which is in front of the baby in your tummy rather than behind it) - it can move about, so what they will do is scan again later on (they told me 32 weeks) to see where it is then. As SOL says, if it is blocking the cervix later on / at the time of delivery, you have to have a CS. But as far as I can tell, it's too early to say at this stage what it will do later on.

CD - my next ante-natal clinic is on 14 Dec so I will have the chance to fire all my questions at them then. Have also just posted on the meet up thread as I'm afraid I've messed this one up: you know the way you can have two paralell realities going (or maybe it's only me?!). The one where you are blithely sure you have nothing on after Christmas, and then the other one which knows about all the social engagement-type things?! I had the same on Fri when I was busy leaving messages for people telling them I was working Monday morning so they should call me back then, whilst at the same time in a parallel universe, knowing I had my scan on Monday morning so would be at the hospital!

Better go now as was planning an early night with good book (oh the glamour and excitement!!)

Bramshott · 27/11/2006 22:25

Sorry - too self-obsessed! Also meant to say congrats to all those who had scans today and especially to those with the excitement of knowing what colour they're having!!!!!!!

CaptainDippy · 28/11/2006 08:56

Morning - off to driving lesson - pouring down with rain - oh joy!! I'll post when I return .....

Bugmum · 28/11/2006 09:10

Am posting a little sorry-for-myself message: have caught the Cold you lot all had a week or so ago. Am not going into work today, as I can't really speak and that matters for what I do, but this is not a convenient day to have off. Grrr. And DS has developed a charming habit of SCREECHING when he wants something and I don't get it right. He is 22 months now, and needs to be able to talk, but he can't - hence the unpleasant screeching. He even did it in the middle of the night, putting my heart firmly in my mouth, when he's simply lost his dummies. Sigh. And I can cope with two because...?

maveta · 28/11/2006 09:26

Oh I am so envious of all the scans going on!! of course big CONGRATS to all of you and yay for the boys! I have mine 2 weeks tomorrow, but who's counting??!
My mum came back from the UK last night and brought me two big bags of mothercare baby things, my first baby stuff! I was so excited...OH MY GOD I'M HAVING A BABY!!! LOL.
It was all so cute and dreamt about my baby all night...now can't wait to get more...
Got to dash but no doubt will be in later to catch up, hope you all have a lovely day and good luck for any scans x
