Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello all,
Had my first grrr moment re the baby's sex today: term is finished for me, but I had some photocopying to do, so I breezed into College, and bumped into a couple of people I haven't seen in a while. I am now VERY obviously pregnant, so they gushed about that for a bit, then I said, 'Oh, and we heard yesterday that it's another boy!' whereapon one of the women put on a sympathetic face and said, 'How do you feel about that?' Am also cross with self, because I said that I was hoping the boys would be mates, being just over the two years apart, and that it would be miles cheaper and so on, whereas I should have just said (apart from the obvious! ), 'Delighted, thanks.' I sounded as though I was having to find reasons to be cheerful...

Someone (bubblez, I think) asked yesterday what kind of names I like, as the name thing is the ONLY disadvantage of having another boy. I like literary names, ones with literary associations, for first names and then 'after' RL people for the middle names. Unfortunately (and I hope this doesn't offend anyone here!) that means that bean's first middle name is going to be...Kenneth. So I need something very, very nice indeed as an actual first name. Second middle name will probably be Chad, btw.

Your children's names are beautiful - Bramshott also has a Niamh - You could either go traditional to go with Benjamin (James, Thomas, Matthew, Toby maybe???) or something a bit more Celtic to go with Niamh (Dylan, Declan, erm .... that sort of thing??)

Is your RL name Beryl??

CaptainDippyClausWithABump · 06/12/2006 12:34

I think it is nice to use RL names as 2nd names - we're having Joan as a 2nd middle name if it is a girl cos that was DH's Granma's name who died last year.

Joan is lovely
DS has his middle names after mine and DP's fathers; mine died nearly 6 years ago, but DP's is still alive.

I am actually getting really excited now; I think having the detailed scan and also knowing what flavour it is have helped me begin to bond. I now want to SHOP, to buy a ring sling and a buggy board, and, and, and STUFF. And there was me claiming a second boy would be cheaper I wouldn't mind, but we're hardly rolling in it

Nope not Beryl - worse than that - keep guessing!

I also love having middle names as family names. My DCs all have family middle names. I want to use DH's name as middle name for bean but he's not keen on the idea.
Sorry to hear about your grandma CaptainDCWB, its a lovely idea to use her name as middle name.
I like both traditional and celtic names but DH and I can't agree on any. Our DDs had some funny suggestions last night and DS thinks that its called Bob! Loved the name Orla, Brandybuttershot.

Hugs to Merrybugmum for silly comments from College people. Its lovely having two of the same together. Our DDs are inseparable.

I've just remembered something: my mum has five sisters, and they all - including Mum - have the middle name Joan. This is because my granddad was always, always drunk when going to register the births (having thoroughly wetted the babies' heads), and could never remember what the middle name was supposed to be. Oddly, none of them were meant to have Joan...

In fact, my mum fared even worse than the others, as she was meant to have Roberta as her first name, and got 'Barbara' instead...still always shortened to 'Bobbie'
