Had my anomaly scan yesterday and everything was perfect Grin baby still very active and kept its hands up by its face most of the time. Still firmly in team yellow, we had to look away from the screen several times lol as she was doing her checks. My bump is getting there but I'm definitely carrying all over like I did with ds.
20w today.

Hi guys .. Kep & bear I'm due January 15th too :) off dress shopping today.. Actually think it's going to be a lot more stressful than fun but we'll see.. I'm feeling bit better headaches have calmed down.. Just really struggling to sleep atm dd at her dads today so I think I'll make the most of it and treat myself to a nap after shopping :) x

SleepyDragon · 22/08/2015 11:46

Afternoon all.

Had a horrible day yesterday, still felt really ill and had an aching tummy all day. Got up early for hairdressers appointment this morning then ended up going back to bed as felt ill again.

Just got up and eaten copious amounts of French stick and a coffee... Was lovely!!

SIL has also text asking if we're up for a BBQ tonight as is hitting 30 degrees here today, I was craving a chinese but could equally murder a hotdog!

Re: Drinking. I've only been drinking Becks Blue or Non Alcoholic Kopperberg and because they taste so alike to the real ones I've not been missing alcohol. Although I craved hugely a glass of red earlier this week!!

impatientlywaiting · 22/08/2015 11:49

Hi all, I haven't been posting much but keep following the thread. Just wanted to chime in to say I would definitely be up for a Facebook group if one is set. My last group set one up and I found it much better than when we used to mumsnet page, it's much easier to post photos, remember who is who and as posts are individual rather than in one linear format it means people don't get forgotten if they post something and makes it easier to comment on specific topics.

lilyb84 · 22/08/2015 11:59

Poor you, sleepy Sad Hope you can rest lots today and feel better soon. Glad your headaches seem to be staying away, jade!

Oysterbabe · 22/08/2015 12:10

My own view on alcohol is why take the risk? It's 9 months of my life.

"Any alcohol that you drink enters your bloodstream as a chemical known as acetaldehyde, and is then passed onto your baby via your placenta.Your baby can actually process some alcohol, but not as much as an adult (obviously). If too much acetaldehyde is passed to the baby, it can get into his tissues and impact development.â?

I'm not happy for any amount of acetaldehyde to be transferred to my baby, even if in all likelihood it can process a small amount. It's a poison and the baby hasn't had years decades of it's liver getting used to processing it like mine has.

I appreciate that they haven't yet found any evidence that 1-2 units a week causes any damage and that's good enough for many people, but not for me. People should do whatever they feel comfortable with.

jmac88 · 22/08/2015 13:11

I have been drinking the odd drink here and there and think it's fine. From the research I have done, it seems that it's more about how long it takes you to drink the drink. So if you sip a glass of wine over an hour or more then your body is able to process the 'poison' before it goes through the placenta to the baby.

I think the nhs guidelines are soon to say that no amount if alcohol is acceptable, but like most things this is because health services know that if you say you can have a bit, most people will have a bit more. So it easier for them to say don't have anything in order to cover their backs.

I do kind of agree why would you take the risk for something you don't need. But that's what life is about isn't it? Taking risks, living life how you want to, and living it to the full? If that means having the odd glass of Prosecco (the only thing I can really stomach) and drinking it slowly, it will probably mean I enjoy myself a little more....

mrschatty · 22/08/2015 13:46

Re alcohol so far I had a rose while I was in the cote d'azur and a Prosecco at mil bday... to be honest I always said I would have zero alcohol so feel a bit bad to have indulged in 2 glasses...
Just home from work going to have a wee snooze then get ready for sil bday bbq! Mentioned to the ladies in my new team that om pregnant. 'Oh have you just found out?' No I'm 19w tomorrow. Cue astonished looks. Hmm I've definitely got a weeeeee bump going on...

lilyb84 · 22/08/2015 13:58

I'm definitely more than happy not to drink at all - it's not the alcohol n and of itself that I miss and while I haven't really read up on the risks etc I don't really want to have any. BUT I do miss sampling different ales so I'm hoping a sip here and there won't really make its way to baby Smile

brickie I missed your post but so glad to hear everything was looking good at your 20 week scan! Hope you're feeling okay.

I'm having mega regrets over doing the hoovering, why don't I learn?! Now my back's killing me. Argh.

crumble26 · 22/08/2015 14:02

Congrats on all the great scan news and bump pics - looking good ladies!

I've been trying to keep up with this thread but the password reset issue was such a big faff.

I'd be up for a Facebook group!

I've really missed having a drink in this pregnancy, maybe because I also have a 13 month old and some days I really feel like I need a drink to wind down. I had a lovely chilled Bavaria 0% last night which tasted really good but apart from a small sip of prosecco from DH's glass I've not had anything. Probably best for me to avoid as I love my wine...

21+5

mrschatty · 22/08/2015 14:28

Aw wonderful scan news for everyone can't wait for mine a week on Tuesday! 18+6 today!

12345Claire · 22/08/2015 14:57

I'd also be up for a Facebook group as it makes it more personal but I understand if people prefer to stay on here. Just at the airport about to take a long haul flight, arrived to check in early, stuck my (almost non existent) belly out, looked pathetic and asked if they could give my DH and I extra legroom...which the airline agreed to, yayyyyyy!xx

CubanoHabana · 22/08/2015 15:12

I'm on a fb group for ds and it is much easier to follow. Get notifications through when people post and easier to reply to specific things.

It was a life line in those first few months of sleepless nights as someone was always on and instant updates without having to refresh page.

It's also super secure and a secret / hidden group so no one knows about it, so you can post without worry of outing yourself to others and feel happy posting pics.

20 week scan on Monday and 20+1 today.

SleepyDragon · 22/08/2015 15:46

Thanks Lily had another nap and have now dyed my hair and the combination has perked me up a bit.. Just need to stop looking like a round moonface with Rudolph nose now lol!

I only tend to 'miss' drinking on hot days when I would love an icy cold Rosè, but that's same as missing a dippy egg on a full English and a cheeseboard...

But, I've done it for 20 wk (on Thursday) I can do it for 20 more... Then God help DH for making up for it now as it'll be my turn Lol! Not that I get drunk, I hate the feeling, I just get fed up of being the chauffeur!

Re: FaceBook - I don't mind either way, I'm on FB and would join it if it was created but only if it was a secret group as I don't want my posts to be seen by family/friends.

I would also forget to use at least one of the 2 sites so would rarely be on both lol!

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 22/08/2015 16:11

I'm definitely up for a Facebook group. As others have said, would prefer something secret/hidden/private etc so I'm not broadcasting things to friends and family.

Re: drinking. I'm usually very partial to a big goblet of wine so giving up is tough. I feel like I'd be a member of the slippery slope club if I had a small glass of full-strength stuff. For now I'm sticking to soft drinks and sometimes have a non-alcoholic wine or Becks Blue. Maybe at christmas DH will 'allow' me to have a teeny tiny sherry! He feels very strongly about avoiding all alcohol but thinks it's a good idea to taunt me with his beers and ciders in the fridge!

Lovely bump pics and scan photos ladies. 20 wks on tuesday for me, and scan is next friday at 4pm. Any scan date twins?

spydie · 22/08/2015 16:55

Hope everyone is doing well. Having a bit of a daunting day... We moved house yesterday, so we've been in the new place a little over 24 hours. Been busy unpacking all day but feeling really down. Loving our new house (although it's box carnage!) but feel really strange at the same time, maybe I'm just unsettled. Got emotional putting up the photos of one our cats we lost a couple of years ago, and for the first time ever feel like I wish I wasn't pregnant. I don't know what's come over me but just typing this is making me cry.

Sorry for the me post :-( I know there are others having a worse time.

18 weeks today.

kep1979 · 22/08/2015 17:18

Happy new house spydie Smile

I am up for a FB too as long as it is private - would be good for those sleepless nights I think!

Alcohol-wise I have had one glass of fizz when we moved house but mostly not missed it which is absolutely amazing as I am a huge wine buff. When we are in the Côte d'Azur I will probably have a glass of rosé. I've read all of the research and totally understand abstaining completely however I am happy that the risks of any damage are minuscule. I think it's all about making your own risk assessment and doing what you feel comfortable with spoken like a true risk manager

ValancyJane · 22/08/2015 17:38

brickie Lovely scan pics, I'm glad baby is doing so well Smile

sleepy Aww sounds like you're having a rubbish time, hope you're feeling fully back to normal soon!

I'm having a bit of a weird pain, not sure if I should be worried about it or not. Over the last hour or so I've started to get a bit of pain below my tummy, mainly when I move around or change how I'm sitting. It's not crampy at all, more like a pulled muscle pain. Any ideas? I'm inclined not to be too worried, though if it gets worse I'll ring the midwife on Monday. (Also, I'm taking it as a sign that I should rest on the sofa!)

Nightfall1983 · 22/08/2015 18:05

My group from when I had my son is on FB and we are still very active even though the babies are now turning 3. Our group is completely secret because it was set up before some people had announced their pregnancies and they didn't want anyone to see them joining a "due in August" group :) It's been great but it was a death-knell for the MN group, no one wants to post in both groups and naturally the more prolific posters when over to FB so the other one quickly died...

Blackandwhitecat3 · 22/08/2015 18:09

Today I bought my first ever H cup bra!

I also have backache, I think the two are related.

FizzyPinkWine · 22/08/2015 18:26

Valancy that sound like it could be round ligament pain. I get it from time to time, it can be quite painful!
It's just everything stretching, so if it is that, it's not really anything to worry about.

Chip86 · 22/08/2015 18:40

I'm up for a private FB group, I am on one with DD and it's a life safe, and does not take up as much time as MN.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
With DD I was told if your BH get painful, it's a sign you need to slow down

Lookingforadvice123 · 22/08/2015 19:06

I'm 21 weeks today too loveulots and orange!

I would be up for a private Facebook group especially to share baby pics as I wouldn't feel comfortable sharing pics of the baby on here.

I had a spa day today with 3 close friends, even though I couldn't go in the jacuzzi/steam room it was so fab, had a facial, scalp massage and was just a really relaxing day. I've been so anxious and tense and its actually really helped so I would recommend it to anyone struggling to relax and enjoy pregnancy! I'm def going to book a pregnancy massage at some point too.

Realised I never posted my 20 week scan pic, here's the little fella!

If you join a private fb group, can your Friends see that you've joined it?

MissSMartin · 22/08/2015 21:33
