Is anyone knowledgeable in employment/HR stuff?

I commented here that this week I was going on secondment to another dept...and I'm really enjoying it! Full time Jobs available (which is why I'm seconded to help out before get new staff...) and I'm really keen to apply...Is it daft idea when I have 3 months till mat leave? Or if I don't at least express my interest is that a bad idea for future prospects? Any help appreciated thank you Smile

Hi ladies struggled to get on the website all day!
Having a tired and fed up day today. Also got slight toothache but dentist said its just sore gums. X

hotcrossbun83 · 20/08/2015 19:28

I'm surprised the new uppababy has a bad rating, I've heard good things about it. I have the old version and had been wishing I had the new one as it becomes a double more easily. I guess it's possible that because it's become more popular they've moved production and quality has changed? It been v popular in US for a while though.

Nightfall1983 · 20/08/2015 20:10

RE the Uppababy: apparently they test the durability by strapping it to a treadmill, loading it up and running it for then check how knackered it is afterwards in terms of suspension etc. The Uppababy Vista 2015 broke on the test!

All this talk of car seats and prams is making me think I should start getting my head round what we need to get...

loveulots glad your mw appt went well! coffee how was your scan?

juniper such a cute bump! I look like a blimp compared to you! Hope you find something nice for the wedding.

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 20/08/2015 21:18

Juniper You have a lovely bump! Mine still looks like flab Sad

Blackandwhitecat3 · 20/08/2015 21:26

Nightfall that's really useful to know about the new Uppababy, thank you. Maybe we'll try to get a second hand one after all.

Lovely bump juniper, I think that's the equivalent of have "pert" breasts Grin.

Saw some more colleagues today for the first time and my bump is so obvious they all asked me straight out.

I still can't see my bump past my enormous boobage though, even in the evening. Anyone up for a quick survey? Which is bigger, boobs or bump?

19+3 boobs!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 20/08/2015 21:27

Oh yes Nighfall would you mind telling us what which say about the bugaboo? Thanks

MissSMartin · 20/08/2015 21:27

I can't remember who it was but someone with username beginning with M.. did you order that clair de lune dimple moses basket from tesco?
I've just picked it up and I love it! and I bought the clair de lune rocking stand aswell. . looks lovely Smile

MissSMartin · 20/08/2015 21:33

b&w ermmm both. . Grin haha.. I might take a bumpy tomorrow and show my growing figure.
Girls at work keep going "oh MissMartin boobage! or what" they arnt massive but they did make me laugh at the size the other day when I was getting changed! there big for me.. normally they were pretty small!

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 20/08/2015 22:09

MissMartin I think it was me with the moses basket. Yes I think it was from Tesco in the end. I love how soft the fabric is! Handles are a bit stiff but just need bending towards the outside a bit. I just want to put it to good use now!

coffeenut · 21/08/2015 07:45

b&w I can def see my bump past my boobs ...

I had my 20 week scan, all looking okay! Measuring bang on 21 weeks (am 20 + 5), so a tiny bit about average not not much. Bub was kicking furiously and apart from a few tiny "pops" I couldn't feel any of it, which was interesting. I have a high anterior placenta which explains why I can only feel movement low, & also may explain why my bump protrudes so much. A lot of people have guessed I'm having a boy as they think my bump is quite "neat" and round (looks the opposite to me but anyway ..!)

lovely bump juniper!

Good luck to kep (and the others sorry I forget exactly who but I know there are quite a few of us!) having their scans today!!!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 21/08/2015 08:10

coffee sounds lovely seeing bub moving around. I've got my scan on Tuesday and am hoping to be able to see some movement so I can try to match that to a sensation inside of me. I thought I felt some pings a couple of weeks ago but nothing now so I'm guessing it's somewhere I can't feel it.

Last scan it was determinedly asleep though!

BeeMyBaby · 21/08/2015 08:33

coffee great news on the scan

juniper agree with the others - you have a really nice bump! I just look like I've turned into a woman with an apple shape who really needs a trip to a gym...

On the slightly plus side I'm managed to reduce my sugar intake since I started on Wednesday, although I'm currently on the third day of my sugar withdrawal headache which always accompanies it. I'm trying to avoid painkillers but I think I will give in today.

Hi all. Have been faffing with passwords and work has been manic. Hope everyone is ok.

Looking for some reassurance - I keep ending up sleeping on my back and I'm now 17+4 and everything suggests this is really bad for the baby. Am I worrying unnecessarily or should I be making a concerted effort not to do this?

Also - have been feeling fluttering movements most evenings but last night nothing - now freaking out. Is it ok at this stage as its so small that there can be a change in pattern movement?

And finally (sorry!) have increased in thirst - is this normal? Someone at work said this could be GD. Midwife appt on tues. wait till then?

Agh. Thought I was over being anxious.

Also DH is being a prize arse. Grump.

jmac88 · 21/08/2015 09:25

Finally feeling some definite pops and flicks! Must be those tiny little feet!

Took a bumpy to celebrate.

19 + 5

jmac88 · 21/08/2015 09:27

Included our pup too!

Brooke113 · 21/08/2015 10:02

Morning ladies,

Been struggling to get on with the hacking. Changed my password 3 times, forgot it twice Blush

Not feeling to good, I'm so apprehensive, by this point with DS, I was feeling proper kicks when my hand was on my tummy, I'm not feeling anything, and this makes me think somethings wrong with him :( I know I'm probably being stupid, but I can't relax :( I just want to know he's OK.

18+2

loveulotslikejellytots · 21/08/2015 10:20

Brooke try not to worry. I'm 20+6 and still not feeling regular movements or proper kicks. I have a high anterior placenta so that really does cushion a lot of movement. I can sometimes feel tiny tiny little bits very low down, but nothing that I could say was definitely baby. I think I felt it flip over yesterday, but then again, I wasn't feeling great (trapped wind all day Blush) so again, i'm not sure. By the time you're a bit further on you'll have no problems picking out movements. I'm not sure when you're supposed to start 'counting the kicks' but their website says to contact your midwife if yo haven't felt anything by 24 weeks.

It does make me anxious but I've heard the HB this week and i've got a repeat of my 20 week scan on Monday so I have seen/heard the baby. Everyone feels things at different stages i'm sure. If you are really worried though, phone your midwife.

EdgarAllenPoe · 21/08/2015 10:43

pugmum

I found that I naturally stopped sleeping on my back when it became uncomfortable (around 19-19 weeks). Before then I would fall asleep on my side and wake up on my back (panic!) but I couldn't do that now if I tried. I'm currently 20+1. I can't believe evolution would allow for us to unconsciously sleep in such a way that would damage our babies, we'd have died out by now surely?

I've hardly felt any movements, maybe the odd flutter in the past week. I'm a first timer so not too worried. The midwife doesn't even want to know until 22 weeks, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Pregnancy in general makes you thirsty. Increased thirst can be a symptom of diabetes, so by all means talk to your midwife. But it could just be you need more water because so much is growing and changing.

Hope you can ease your anxiety some! At least you get to see the midwife soon.

TeenieDeenie · 21/08/2015 10:44

Morning all. I've also had problems logging on, very annoying!

Cute bumps juniper and jmac, I think me and my OH are going to start doing weekly bumpy shots this weekend. He bought a little heart shaped chalk board so we can write how many weeks I am on it. Thought it was a very cute idea.

At my private scan on Sunday, the sonographer said my placenta was on the front wall of my uterus, this means it is anterior right? I'm gonna double check this at my 20 week scan. Also on Wednesday morning I woke up with the most strangest feeling ever, I was on my right side and my bump felt like it was vibrating/fluttering. I put my hand down to it and could feel it. Is this my wee boy moving? Or am I just lying on a nerve lol?

Good luck to all with scans today! Smile

ValancyJane · 21/08/2015 11:17

Aww lovely bumps juniper and jmac Smile

pugmum I think your body will probably change positions when it gets uncomfortable later on. I've been trying to sleep on my left (it's really hard, I've always slept on my right side - OH and I have had to change sides of the bed and everything!) and sometimes wake up on my back or right - I figure I'm doing everything I can feasibly do, so am not stressing over it at this point.

brooke Try not to worry (easier said than done I know!), I'm 18+0 and don't think I've felt anything yet. Last night I got all excited lying on my left side and thought I could feel some movement... Until I tried lying on my right side for comparison and felt the same blooming thing, pretty sure I was just feeling blood vessels or something! Could you ask to hear the heartbeat at your midwife's appointment? It's put my mind at rest so much knowing that I heard it two weeks ago. My midwife was really nice and said that if I get worried about anything they can make me an appointment so I can get checked out and hear the heartbeat, I think they are quite used to anxious women! I'm sure everything's alright, do try not to worry.

coffee Glad you had such a nice scan. Good luck to all having their scans today!

lilyb84 · 21/08/2015 11:19

Lovely bump and pup, jmac!

brooke I'm sure everything's fine, every pregnancy is different and it's still quite early even though it's your second. When's your next scan?

pug I used to literally never sleep on my back... until I got pregnant! Now I'm tossing and turning so much that I often find myself drifting off flat on my back with my arms thrown up over my head. Completely new! Your body will tell you if a position isn't right for you Smile

MissMartin 18 weeks today here as well! Although more than 20 weeks left at work, grr.
