Glad to hear I'm not the only fanny daggered one haha.

melon I don't blame you I've had 3 private scans in total! In fairness two were after episodes of spotting and then one was for reassurance, worth every penny for sure and that's how we knew that we're having a boy at 16 weeks!

'Fanny daggers'. That made me LOL! I've had that a couple of times. Not too painful yet but it's the location of it that's horrible!

Welcome bear! I'm due on 12th Jan, 17+4 today although LMP puts me at 17 weeks today.

Been feeling a fair few wriggles and a little bit of a 'popping' sensation this morning. I think the bambino is having a dance in there today! Grin

Congrats Melon, fab news!!

Well...we're having a boy! I wasn't surprised at all and was convinced I was having a boy - so thrilled though. And loved having a private scan!!! They were so thorough and showed us everything, toes, fingers, stomach etc etc and we got loads of photos. So giddy still!!

Melon did you find your private scan better compared to nhs 12 week?

16+6

Thanks for the new thread. I'm marking my place & I'll try much harder to keep up this time.
Nice to read you are all doing well.
We went for a gender scan last Saturday (16+2) but they couldn't get baby in the right position to tell us ????
We are going back on Monday evening to try again. Hopefully this time baby will let us see. I'm positive its a little boy and it would even the ratio up in the house GrinIf we don't find out then we will just have to wait until our 20wk scan on 1st Sept.

Hello,

Can I join? I've only just found you guys. I'm 17 weeks today, due 16th Jan, I'm 31, this is baby number 1 for both hubby and I and I'm from Manchester UK. We are team yellow.

So far pregnancy has been ok, had all day nausea until 14 weeks, was sick a few times and lost 8lbs but at least no HG. Had an early scan at 7 weeks due to suspected ectopic but all ok and had my 12 week on 9th July, 20 week scan is 2nd September.

I have a under-active thyroid and a mitral valve prolapse (heart thing) so I'm consultant led at the moment, hoping they'll discharge me back to midwife care though as I am totally fine as is my tiny human.

I hope all you ladies are doing well. Off to read all the other posts now.

Hello everyone. Just marking my place. 17+5 where is the time going?

Report
hotcrossbun83 · 08/08/2015 18:30

Welcome juno, I'm hypothyroid too and last pg I was discharged from consultant care at 32 weeks, it shouldn't affect your birth plan at all. Although I can't comment on your other condition of course, but it sounds like all is going well

16 week app on Thursday with consultant, last time they gave me a quick bonus scan just in their room so I hope that happens again. Will be so tempted to ask if they can see the sex but dh won't be there so best wait for 20 weeks I guess!

Welcome to all the newbies!

We went for our gender scan this morning, we'll have 2 tickets for team pink please! Very pleased, HB is delighted.

Glad everyone else's scans went well too. I'm really starting to grow a lot, love the size of my bump now, but before I know it I know I'll be huge.

Congrats melon, moon and ready! Girls are most definitely outnumbering boys on this list so far...!!

Saw Inside Out today which was rather lovely Smile Although late night last night plus Westfield today = very tired me today. I've been ready for bed since about midday...

Also, a GP gave me some Canesten pessary+cream but no particular instructions - but I seem to remember people saying on here that you shouldn't use the applicator when pg. Is that right?

And welcome juno, recognise your name from the pregnancy boards I think. Congrats!

Lily we saw Inside Out today too Smile DD (22 months) spent most of the film with her face firmly hidden in my chest. Don't know what was up with her! Maybe just too dark / loud.

Electrodes are all off now but I'm pretty sure the pads had latex in them. I spent a good portion of last night awake as they were so itchy! Now have massive bullseye target burns on my skin!

Also got a call from my GP last night to say I have an active Strep B infection. Had a bit of a fight over getting antibiotics for it- he claimed it was unnecessary but eventually agreed to contact the lab, and turns out I was right and do need them. Now I'm scared of having a late miscarriage if the infection has taken hold. I'm high risk because it was found in my urine and because DD got Strep B after birth due to bloody idiotic midwives.

Pregnancy is just one big stress!

Congratulations to all of those who've found out the gender. Enjoy buying all the cute clothes!

What a time you're having, juniper! Glad you fought for antibiotics and try not to worry, it's "really rare" for an active infection to cause a late miscarriage according to the NHS website. Flowers for you though.

Congrats on the scan news today! DH and I can't wait for our 20 wk to find out sex.

And welcome to the big bus of hairy bellied ladies to the newbies!

Lily I was prescribed the cream and pessary a couple of weeks ago and for the pessary my doc saidto only put it "just inside". Though it was pretty uncomfortable there.

So to hear you have a strep infection juniper, but good that you chased and followed it up so on the appropriate meds.

Struggling with mental health today. Been off ocd pills and others for 15 months and had been doing well. But think the combo of pregnancy hormones and stress, and also work stress is causing a flare up. Had a panic attack earlier for the first time in over a year and bump really ached after from the tension. So now feel guilty for having a panic attack!

lilyb84 · 08/08/2015 23:25

Thanks for the tip, fisher. And sorry to hear you've been struggling a bit more emotionally. It's great that you've been feeling good off the meds, but could you get some extra support while you're pregnant, perhaps some CBT? My sister suffers from ocd and was off her meds in order to conceive and throughout pregnancy. She felt fine throughout but had quite a bad episode after she gave birth, which we think was partly because her ocd wasn't acknowledged or treated while she was pregnant (she had a lot of physical discomfort which distracted her and her midwives). I hope it's just a blip for you and that your DH is supportive.

fishermanswife1 · 09/08/2015 05:40

Thanks Lily. Yep DH is really supportive though I think yesterday took him by surprise as it's been so long. We've both agreed that I should go to gp and ask for some extra help as you say. Lovely DH has said he wants to come.
Thanks again. Lovely support on this thread.

I agree fisher get all the help you can to make the rest of the pregnancy as stress free for you and the little one. The helps out there & sounds like you've a great support system Smile
Was out last night for a friends birthday ... And made a boo-boo! The breads for starters which I scoffed quite quick as I was starving, some had a bit of goats cheese worked into the crust. I'm talking about 2 slices possibly so realistically a very small amount, but have done nothing but worry since Confused chances of listeria & putting baby in harms way??

Report
coffeenut · 09/08/2015 07:35

were they cooked into the crust or just bits that had stuck on? I'm sure it'll be fine either way yokyil. The amount you would've had would've been tiny either way!

congrats on the good scans and the boy and girls!

re canesten Ive been told putting the applicator filled with cream "just inside" is fine, have also been told that as long as you're not too aggressive (ie hitting the cervix?!) then there is no risk. Have been told not to use pessaries though so no help on that one.

fisher sounds like a good plan and like you have a wonderful DH.

Report
Yokyil · 09/08/2015 08:02

coffee the breads were toasted so can't be sure if it was on before or after...feel so stupid! Have been quite strict with checking all I'm eating. I'm just hoping that because it was such a small amount that I haven't done baba any harm

yokyil I'm sure it will be fine. I ate a chunk of uncooked Brie at about 8 weeks and all still fine here.

I work with a lady who's French, and in France they apparently don't tell you to avoid things like cheese! She had two perfectly healthy children to show for it Smile I'm not saying that that makes it ok to eat whatever you want, but I'm sure one instance will be fine Smile

Thanks spydie and coffee there's just so much to remember!!! And on the menu it didn't say the breads had goats cheese otherwise I would've went for some soup! Instead I dived in...fx alls okay!

Report

yokyil you will be fine lovely Smile I've stopped worrying about certain foods, and that's saying a lot coming from the Queen of Anxiety here!

have any of you seen the thread on the pregnancy boards about whether it's safe to drink alcohol free beer?! you have to laugh sometimes. my first point of call when I've given birth is a rare steak, roquefort cheese and a bottle of red wine!
