Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

Hi everyone, do you mind if I join? I got a BFP today!

I tested on Friday and Sunday last week and they were both negative, so I must only be really really early stages.... I've been to my GP and filled in a midwife referral form and the receptionist said that they should contact me pretty soon, especially as I wrote that I have PCOS and had a mc last year.

I'm a bit shocked tbh, as well as being cautiously excited. Things have become complicated with DP over the last fortnight so I am a bit dubious about telling him, but have told my mum and a close friend.

Is there anything that I need to tell you all? I am 27...I have been feeling really queasy in the evenings recently and I am very, very sleepy!!

What am I supposed to do now??

Sophia1984 · 21/08/2015 15:19

Congratulations TwllBach! Sounds like you've done everything you need to - just make sure you're taking your vitamins and staying healthy :) I'm glad you've got your mum and friend for support x

TwllBach · 21/08/2015 15:27

...vitamins? What should I be taking? Sorry, I'm a bit clueless!

MazzleDazzle · 21/08/2015 15:33

Congratulations and welcome Twll!

PallasCat · 21/08/2015 16:24

Hello to lots of familiar names! Smile Lovely to see you over here.

I've been away and offline for a couple of weeks, during which I got a BFP (faint on an IC last Friday, confirmed on FR last Saturday, and a couple more since, including this morning, which are increasingly strong)! Really took me by surprise, as I'd not had any symptoms besides the obvious absence of AF.

NHS calculator puts me at 5 weeks - due late April.

Sophia1984 · 21/08/2015 16:26

You can get a vitamin from Boots called Pregnacare or something similar. It's mainly the folic acid that you need to take. There'll be a whole section for 'women's vitamins' or you could ask the pharmacist :-) You're not clueless at all. I feel like I knew absolutely nothing when I first found out, but have been doing some reading up. This site has good info: www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/vitamins-minerals-supplements-pregnant.aspx

DizzyMerry · 21/08/2015 16:28

Congrats and welcome twll and pallas.

Twll lots of people take pregnancy vitamins such as pregnacare. Some people choose to only take folic acid, which is the most important. I'm currently finishing off my pregnacare conception vits as I have a couple of packs left. Not sure what I will take next as the pregnancy ones give me constipation.

Does anyone know if it's ok to take the conception vits throughout pregnancy? I really don't want to be dealing with constipation so early on!

PallasCat · 21/08/2015 16:47

Thanks Dizzy! I've just ordered the Pregnacare Original supplement, but at the moment I'm finishing off SevenSeas TTC, and I've got another pack of these to get through - so I was wondering the same. The amounts of folic acid are equal, but my TTC pills have lower VitD than the recommendation for once you are pregnant (50 micrograms, which is 100% RDA, versus 10micrograms, which is recommended when preggers and is 200% RDA).

Questions re starting antenatal care... so, you're meant to notify local healthcare services straight away, right? When do you usually have a first appointment? I have an appointment with my nurse (booked before I got pregnant, and not related to pregnancy) - this is on next Friday, at which point I'd be 6 weeks. Should I just wait and discuss it then, or do I need to call my GP separately? (First time pregnant, if that wasn't obvious!)

Sophia1984 · 21/08/2015 17:46

You'll need to get an appointment with a midwife. If you ring up your GP they can refer you - I think they can do this without seeing you first, though I made an appointment with my GP cause I had no clue what I was doing! They'll then send out details of your 'booking appointment', which is the first appointment with the midwife - mine's at 10 weeks. And then I think they book your scans after that. Congrats!

Sophia1984 · 21/08/2015 17:59

Is anyone else having trouble eating with their morning sickness? I feel like I can't even contemplate cooking something or step in the kitchen without feeling even sicker. I've managed some oatcakes, some cereal and yoghurt and a homemade smoothie today, but the thought of anything more substantial makes me want to vomit :-( OH is being wonderful and buying loads of veggies, but they're just sitting in the fridge wilting! He cooked herring for me last night as he heard it's good for you in pregnancy, but now the kitchen smells of fish. Bleurgh.

woundbobbin · 21/08/2015 18:16

Sophia I'm not eating that much and what I do eat is not really veg rich. I don't eat before 12 then I tend to have a sandwich. Then crackers with marmite for tea or sometimes a v small portion of what DH is having. It's not healthy but there's nothing I can do I'm really hungry but nothing stays down, I vomit with little warning, difficult when driving and when working with the public!

Ps I made your smoothie yesterday on my day off it was amazing so cool and it was also cold when I threw it up which was more pleasant than usual.

mascaraisamust · 21/08/2015 18:28

I haven't stop eating!! It's so strange how I'm the complete opposite of most on here Confused After obsessing for pancakes this morning, Ive just had to go out after dinner to get chocolate. I was then gutted it was chewy caramel inside so went out again to get a new chocolate bar. The pounds are piling on but I can't ignore the rumbles!

Dexlie0806 · 21/08/2015 18:59

Yeah I too am finding this ms quite debilitating. I am managing to eat still. However if I don't eat soon enough or eat before I'm ready or eat too much or eat too little I'm sick. It just comes over me too. Shopping for the boys school shoes today and in the middle of Clarks came over all sick and thought I was gonna faint. Dh didn't know what to do worrying I was gonna puke all over the shop. No idea how I made it to the car park before being sick Shock. So yes I am feeling all your pain.

The only thing that's keeping me going is that apparently it's a good sign (not saying it's a bad sign if u don't have it though. Lots of my friends didn't get it at all and have beautiful healthy dc). They were just lucky I remember saying to them Numerous times Smile. Sonographer said to me yesterday that it's the little yolk sac that is making me ill and I could see that clear as day on the screen. We will all get through it though. At least we have somewhere to come and moan when we feel like it. Wink

mascaraisamust · 21/08/2015 19:04

I hope it not going to hit me on holiday next week... I am a tad scared about the lack of symptoms but what can I do. It's a waiting game until I come back from my hol and have the first scan! What's worrying going to achieve!

Dexlie0806 · 21/08/2015 19:16

How far on r u mascara? I got ms quite early this time at 6+2 but with both my ds I didn't get it till 7 weeks. Honestly some people don't get it at all and have healthy happy pregnancies. Everyone is different. I'm sure everything will be just fine and yes worrying def doesn't help. I def have more anxiety this time round and it's not nice. But it's hard not to worry I have started worrying about worrying haha Shock So silly Grin

mascaraisamust · 21/08/2015 19:50

I'm 6+5. Im trying not to worry. I think the break will do me good as I've not got long to wait for the early scan then. It's my first too, it was long awaited and a bit of a suprise as I was told it would be impossible to conceive this month by my GP. Hope you feel better soon Dexlie and like you said we can worry here together! With nobody knowing I've only got DH chat about things with!

waxweasel · 21/08/2015 19:57

I've finally got the password reset to work! Have been lurking silently for a few days Smile hello and congratulations to all the new people!

I am really struggling with MS this week too, but started taking the vit B6 on Monday and it instantly took the edge off. I was so much better Weds and Thurs, but today am having a crap day again. Just constant nausea and retching, not actually thrown up so far. But the retching is really upsetting DD Sad last night she fought her way past DH shouting 'mummy sick! DD need help mummy!' and came and rubbed my back while I retched over the toilet. Then said 'no worry mummy, DD bad cough too, DD cough in toilet same as mummy'. Bless her Smile

Dexlie0806 · 21/08/2015 20:08

Still loads of time for the ms and other symptoms to kick in mascara. But especially with the fact you haven't had an easy journey I will worry. So difficult not to.

Aw wax hope your ok. Both my ds r exactly the same. Very concerned that mammy isn't well. It's awful isn't it. Can't wait to be able to tell them the reason why Grin

waxweasel · 21/08/2015 20:27

Aww bless your DSes! My DD does know - she hoiks my top up and very loudly berates the baby for 'too much jumping in mummy tummy make mummy poorly sick' Grin

Trying to stay upbeat about it, but it's brutal isnt it?

Dexlie0806 · 21/08/2015 21:07

Aw wax that is so cute. Can't wait to tell mine but they will not be able to keep it a secret so waiting until after the 12 week mark Grin

MazzleDazzle · 22/08/2015 07:59

I'm jealous that you can share it with your DDs wax and DSes.

When I was pg with DD2 I told DD1 straight away. She was only 2. We used to chat away about it all the time! It was lovely. She never blurted it out to anyone and even if she had I'd have managed to blag it.

This time though, since they're a bit older (7 & 4) it isn't fair to ask them to keep it a secret, so we're holding off until I've had a scan. We're going to Disneyland Paris in a month. I'm planning on leaving a note and scan picture under their pillow from Mickie and Minnie! They are both desperate for me to have a baby, so they'll be really pleased. Grin

Rinnyx · 22/08/2015 09:01

DD already knew soon as I found out cause she could see I was upset
She's now on holiday til start of September so she does not know we decided to keep it
DS will not be told til after the scan and work are told as he will not keep quite Blush

Still no morning sickness or boob growth, just still painful boobs and for over a week I keep waking in the night and morning with the worst hunger pains that I could cry Sad
Anyone else having this?

CottonSock · 22/08/2015 09:10

Mascara, I'm also wishing for a bit of morning sickness. May live to regret that.
Those of you that are sick, it sounds awful! Sympathy needed.
Bloating a bit less today, no longer look 4 months gone.
Booked early scan 2nd, counting day, Maybe minutes .. It's going slowly

Rinnyx · 22/08/2015 09:19

CottonSock I can't remember with DD (to long ago) but with DS I found up til the 12 week scan everything dragged, after that it flew by then super slowed down when waiting for him to arrive as he was a day late compared to his sister being a week early.
Thankfully tho he was a lot smaller than her and we had to even buy prem baby clothes

Found one of his old baby vests while packing up house
Sssoooo tiny
