Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

I've told a lot more people this time, mainly because I'm feeling awful and need all the support and help with DD that I can get. Have just told our immediate family and a couple of close friends - people I'd tell if anything went wrong anyway. Will prob tell work soon too, for the same reason. Last time we didn't tell anyone at all until 8 weeks, after we'd had an early scan.

I'm also feeling fat / bloated so I'm sure colleagues will guess soon anyway! When can we pull out the stretchy maternity gear?!

CarrotVan · 20/08/2015 18:30

definitely hair bobbles looped through the button hole and hooked over the button work as waistband extenders also bump bands which are soft! wide stretchy belts help keep unbuttoned trousers in place. You just need to wear tops that cover it but aren't too tight

SaltySeaBird · 20/08/2015 18:33

Had an early scan today and all was fine, baby right size and good little heartbeat that they turned the volume on so we could hear. Feel much happier tonight, will start worrying again tomorrow!

mascaraisamust · 20/08/2015 18:34

I am symptomless still so no one will ever guess! I feel like a fraud... Is it bad that I want a symptom?!

This is #1 but I can imagine with a dd and feeling rough its probably easier to tell definitely!

I do look big though! I'm in last pair of stretchy jeans that fit and last night I had to undo the button!

mascaraisamust · 20/08/2015 18:39

Glad everything went well Salty! How far are you?

MazzleDazzle · 20/08/2015 19:20

Congratulations Salty!

Still no word of my booking appt and I went to the docs over 2 weeks days ago! By the sounds of it, some of you are in the same boat. It's ridiculous!

I'm finding in really hard not to just let the news slip. Keep having to bite my tongue!

I have gained so much weight already. It doesn't help that I found out I was pregnant after a 2 week holiday. I was already bloated and the BFP gave me the green light to scoff! Have been eating carefully the last few days though, so will try to continue for as long as I can. My clothes are snug already!

Today was my day off. I spent it at work getting organised for tomorrow, then I worked from home in the afternoon and after the kids are in bed I have more to do. I still won't be ready for tomorrow and will have more to do over the weekend. Work load is a joke! Meanwhile the laundry mountain has grown! I'm supposed to tackle it on my day off. Angry

Dexlie0806 · 20/08/2015 19:57

Congratulations on the scans salty and spotted. Another 2 weeks will prob feel like ages spotted for the next scan but by then I'm sure there will be a lot more to see. Grin. 5 weeks is so early to pick anything up. its all just so worrying this pregnancy stuff isn't it!

I had my scan today too. All great. A strong heart beat and a visible healthy yolk sack (which is apparently a good sign?) couldn't see much but the heart beat but that is the main thing.

I was measuring 5 days smaller and I know that can't be 100% accurate with the timing of my bfp and also when my symptoms started. But she did say they aren't accurate at determining how far on u are because it's very hard to measure. I'm gonna stick with my 7+1 and wait till 12 week scan to find out for def.

Although she said everything looked great (and the fact she said measuring is not accurate this early) I now can't help worrying that baby isn't growing correctly. Ridiculous I know. I saw a beautiful little heart beat and I'm so happy about that but like everyone I just can't have anything go wrong this time. Hmm

Roll on 12 week scan! Grin

poco2015 · 20/08/2015 20:00

ms wont stop! morning lunch and dinner! urgh! plus side (if there is one) got my toddler back for all the times he has puked on me!

SaltySeaBird · 20/08/2015 20:44

I'm about 7 weeks now which is what I thought.

Feel very tired and fat! Today was a day I don't work and I spent most of it trying to convince my 2.10 year old to watch DVDs or play games where Mummy can stay lying down!

AmpleRaspberries · 20/08/2015 20:49

Hi
Joining this thread as had unexpected bfp last weekweek and am 5+1 today, due 22 April. Was very lucky and managed to get my booking in appt this week, so that's done & dusted, and I'm waiting for the scan.

History of mc and high bmi means consultant led pregnancy, but as dd's birth was all straightforward under similar conditions I'm hoping I can convince them to sign me off.

Haven't to anyone yet, but the nausea has hit big time this week so I am spending a lot of time hiding in toilet cubicles at work thinking I'm going to throw up.

Currently having identical symptoms to previous pregnancy, including an increasing obsession with tangerines and orange juice. So based on that I have constant sickness for 4 months then spd to look forward to Grin marvellous!

Although unexpected, DH and I are very excited to have a sibling for dd. It was always on the cards, just not yet!

Sophia1984 · 20/08/2015 21:45

I know the NHS is under a lot of strain and can't cater to all my anxieties, but I am feeling a bit lost having no support between my initial GP appointment and my booking appointment at 10 weeks, especially as I have an anxiety disorder.

I wish I had a bit more information about where and when my scan would be, and had been given contact details for the midwife. What am I meant to do if I have questions? (except bother you lot!) I want to ask someone if I'm ok to jog a half-marathon but it's on the day before my booking appointment so don't know what to do! Should I make a GP appointment? Also, will they do the nuchul scan at same time as first ultrasound?

pingoose · 20/08/2015 21:53

Hi all! I know I'm late to the party, but can I join in? I got a definite BFP this morning. This is DC1 for us, with a expected due date of April 24, 2016.
Currently living in the antipodes, so things won't be the same over here, but not too different I hope!

Sophia1984 · 20/08/2015 22:27

Congratulations pingoose! And welcome :-) I'm due around the 10th April.

MsGlitterJunkie · 20/08/2015 22:35

Welcome ping, ample and all the other newbies, congratulations!

Great news about all the scans over the past few days.

sophia I don't know where you're based but all the hospitals near me have a maternity helpline manned by midwives to deal with any questions and queries, it's worth checking if there's something similar in the hospital you're booked into? How far along will you be at your first scan? If you're around the 12 week mark they'll do the nuchal transparency at the same time - it has to be done within a specific timeframe, between weeks 11 & 14 I think.

I am 7 weeks today and am really suffering so feeling very blue Sad had to come home early from work today and get into bed. The tiredness and nausea is overwhelming and I feel a bit pathetic as everyone else seems to be able to just get on with it and I really don't know what I can do help myself!

DizzyMerry · 20/08/2015 23:13

Welcome ample and ping.

Sophia have you got your maternity notes? Mine has numbers of the various depts. Might be worth checking if there is somewhere you can ring like glittery says.

Glittery I'm 7 weeks too and the exhaustion has really come on since yesterday. I can barely stand and the nausea is worse when I'm tired but once I get into bed I can't sleep!!! I've also started getting restless legs at night. It might sound odd but I'm so grateful for these symptoms I hardly had any. I think most people just get on with it because they have to. The first trimester is tough but I'm not sure whether we can do much apart from ride it out. Eating every couple of hours helps me.

crumblybiscuits · 20/08/2015 23:33

Still no symptoms and I am now 6+1. Just got engaged and moved so lots and lots of stress. I have a scan next week and an appointment with my consultant and I can't begin to describe how scared I am. I keep telling myself lightning won't strike in the same place twice but I know it doesn't work like that. It was 11 weeks and our third scan that they found the huge nuchal measurement last time so I don't think any amount of scans will reassure me.

Sophia1984 · 20/08/2015 23:49

DizzyMerry & MsGlitterJunkie I'll have a look and see if there is a helpline. I haven't been given any maternity notes yet (unless they've been sent to my old address..) as the only appointment I've had was with the GP who didn't do anything except ask if it was a wanted pregnancy, tell me to take folic acid and say she would refer me and that the midwife would ring me. This was important to me as I don't live at the address my doctor thinks I do and I can't change it for many reasons(long story). I didn't get rang up and only found out when my booking appointment was cause I rang GP's to check.

We have community midwives who we see at our GPs here so we can't go through the hospital. I wish we could as my GP's is rubbish and understaffed and the receptionists are scary... midwife also seems to be constantly in between their two surgeries and hard to get hold of. I also hate feeling like I'm bothering people! I've got my booking appointment at 10 weeks but haven't been told anything about scan yet.

Congrats on being engaged Crumblybiscuits!

MazzleDazzle · 21/08/2015 06:26

Congrats on your scan Dexlie, congrats on your surprise BFP Ample, congrats Ping.

All you ladies with late April due dates are in for a treat! Babies born under Taurus are renowned for being laid back Grin.

Last pregnancy Glitter, I felt like a had a hangover for 3 months! Every pregnancy is different. Poor you. It's not nice at all. Is your work understanding?

Sophia, if you are up to it you can do all exercise that you did previously and for those who don't exercise, now is the time to start. The only things to be avoided are combat sports and horseriding (in case you get kicked off or trampled).

My GP recommended this. It's the one stop Government doc for pregnant women.

No wonder you're worried crumbly. The weeks will be passing slow as well. It will be a relief for is all when we hit the magic 12 week mark.

Rinnyx · 21/08/2015 07:55

Morning ladies, how are we all doing?

Today is move day for me but even tho the removal guys will be here in 2 hours and I still have stuff to pack I'm laying on my bedroom floor.

None of my tools fit to pull my bed apart last night so feeling sorry for myself and I think trying to sort and pack a 3 bed house has kicked my sciatica off big time (I developed it when pregnant with DC2)

Just glad the is still no morning sickness, I just wake up every morning instead with really bad hunger pains.

pingoose · 21/08/2015 08:25

I didn't think about star signs mazzle! DB is a Taurus and so laid back he's falling over so that sounds right.

Feeling a bit queasy today and very sore boobs. Glad to finally have some symptoms.

mascaraisamust · 21/08/2015 08:49

Only soreness and hunger here too. No sickness as of yet. I'm wanting pancakes! I am considering driving for pancakes... I have had a great appetite these last few days!

Rinnyx · 21/08/2015 09:08

I've not thought about star signs either but that's because DP is Chinese so it's more about Chinese zodiac.
The lil one will be a monkey like its dad so gonna be interesting having 2 monkeys in the house

DD is a horse and DS is a tiger and id say they are very true to their animals

Mummyofonesofar · 21/08/2015 09:53

I’ve told loads of people, about 10 people in my office, all of our family and some close friends. Especially as we have had the scan and seen two heartbeats – I need to tell people just so I can get my head around it!

Dexlie congrats on the scan and great heartbeat!

poco sorry you are suffering with ms Flowers

Congratulations Ample SPD is something I am worried about, I suffered badly with DS and it really concerns me that I will be carrying two and have all that pain to deal with again.

Congratulations and welcome ping

Sophia You should still be able to ring your GP for advice about the half marathon but as long as you have trained then I am sure it will be fine. Your scan will probably be booked in during your booking in apt.

Glitter I struggled through yesterday afternoon, nearly went home. Managed to stay til normal home til 4 – got into bed at 4.30, up at 6.30 to eat dinner and shower and put DS to bed then back to bed at 9 til 6.30 this morning and still tired! I thought seriously about quitting my job yesterday, just feel like I am at a wall and need to sleep constantly – no idea how I will survive this pregnancy! So you are not alone Sad

MsGlitterJunkie · 21/08/2015 10:21

Glad it's not just me being rubbish although v sorry to hear you're suffering too dizzy & mummy.

I keep thinking what on earth is wrong with me, is it flu or some rare virus or some fatigue & nausea inducing disease I've got and my fiancé is like, no darling you're just pregnant, ha!

Work are quite understanding mazzle yes and I'm lucky that my boss is away this week and most of next so am taking full advantage of that!

I have no idea about star signs, will have to look up early April. I do know that I'm Aquarius and my fiancé is Virgo and that's meant to be a terrible combination for a couple but we manage to make it work Grin

CarrotVan · 21/08/2015 10:36

sophia if you google the name of your maternity hospital and "community midwives" you should get the phone number you need. Or ring the maternity unit and they will give it to you,

You should be fine to do the run if you are used to that level of exercise but stay hydrated and don't overdo it.

They normally do the nuchal fold measurement and the blood tests at the 12 wk scan but ask how it all works at booking in or by calling the helpline. You normally get your scan appointment at booking in. They might ring their office to arrange something convenient or just give you a letter with the details.

GPs have very little to do with pregnancy care unless you have complicating health conditions.

mummy get an early referral to the physio team for SPD. I'm already getting twinges so not looking forward to it developing more
