Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

Mazzle I'm now jealous that you are finishing work and having twins lol

I run my own business I'll probably physically be able to have 3 months off but I'll be doing paperwork, bills and wages through labour most likely Confused... #ilovemyjobilovemyjobHmm

DizzyMerry · 19/08/2015 16:14

Congrats on your scan trijo. It must be great to be put forward. How I'd love to reach the 9 week mark!

I spoke too soon the nausea has started but I haven't actually been sick yet. I'm now dreading the big stink Confused with DD I had such an intense sense of smell it made my insides churn!

Want2bSupermum · 19/08/2015 16:16

I took off 4.5 months off with my first, 8 weeks off with my 2nd and I'm going to try to take 6 months off with this one. With 3 kids our monthly childcare costs are going to be significant and we are considering a Philipino nanny. The older ladies I see in the park are very connected to the kids. My elder 2 will be in school so I'm going to need the nanny to also help with the housework while the baby is sleeping. Little things like keeping on top of the dishes, the floor clean and the place tidy will be very much needed.

ashboo76 · 19/08/2015 16:41

Thanks wantstobesuper I thought I was the only one with limited time off trying not to let it upset me but needs must like you say

meganlilly89 · 19/08/2015 17:25

Need some advice.. I have my hair booked in for Friday, i meant to be having an all over colour (brown) with blonde highlights (refreshing what I have already)

Can I do this? I forgot to ask my midwife today and i don't want to tell my hairdresser yet xx

Sophia1984 · 19/08/2015 17:44

I'm the main wage earner in our r/ship so partner is going to be stay at home dad. Work only pay out 6 weeks at full pay then 12 weeks at 50% so will most likely have to go back after 3 months though am trying to save up so I can afford more! Fortunately my job is based at home in school hols and during term-time I'm in schools about 3 days a week so will be at home a fair bit. Would love to be at home for longer but needs must and I know partner is going to be brilliant :-)

Mummyofonesofar · 19/08/2015 18:05

I will have a year off. But no idea if we can afford for me to work!!

Want2bSupermum · 19/08/2015 18:35

megan no hair dye or keratin treatment sadly. I have terrible roots and I'm so upset that it's going to be that way for a while.

ashboo I'm a little nervous about taking so long off. I think it's easier for everyone to get into a routine early on. It's also much better for your career.

mummyoftwins get a nanny! If live in its much cheaper.

poco2015 · 19/08/2015 18:47

(excuse the name change mumsnet acidently deregistered my account rather than send me a password change email I'm pocopearl if you didnt guess already)

I have my booking in appointment because cannot be 100% on when i ovulated so will either be 6 or 8 weeks although currently working on the 6 week idea.

I have just qualified as a teacher (career change) so am doing supply for a year (was just going to do a term and then get something for January) I figure less stress for supply as i shouldn't have planning (or as much planning) to do, so I will work right up to dropping and then aim to return to work for the last half term but only doing short stints. Then before I know it it will be the summer holidays. With DS1 I planned to go off a month before but ended up using all my holiday and only working every other week and then got signed off sick anyway and put on bedrest from 7 months.

MazzleDazzle · 19/08/2015 18:59

I had forgotten about the big stink Dizzie! During my last two pregnancies I had to hold my breathe every time I opened the fridge!

Would the nanny be live-in Want2B?

According to this article on the NHS website, hair dye seems safe. Though you may want to wait until after 12 weeks to be on the safe side.

I still haven't been sick but feel nauseous every morning until mid-day. Bleurgh! And I'm so tired it's like I've been drugged. I'm sure last time this past by week 14.

MsGlitterJunkie · 19/08/2015 19:05

Glad your scans went well trijo & megan

I was actually planning to give up work in Sept and take some time out and perhaps retrain to do something completely different. Now I'm pregnant though I'm going to stay for the maternity pay! Realisticly I'll take a year off and won't go back. I've got a load of leave to take too so will probably take 3 weeks holiday before going off on mat leave.

woundbobbin · 19/08/2015 19:13

I got in from work took off my work trousers threw up and simultaneously wet my pants it's a new low.

I have been saving for Mat leave since we started TTC am hoping if I keep saving I should be able to take 9mths off. also with baby being due in April I will have annual leave to take after the 9 mths so will take a few days a week so I can stagger in. also KIT days if timed right can be very useful for a bit extra money when it's tight at the end.

CottonSock · 19/08/2015 19:34

I moved jobs last year for somewhere with good mat pay and was counting the days till I qualified! I might have to delay going back as there is no way I'm paying for two in Nursery at once.. Luckily where I work this is probably possible, so I'd be off about 18 months.

Bobbin that does sound traumatic, although seem to remember I've been there in drunken student days... Don't judge me;)

ashboo76 · 19/08/2015 19:36

Want2bwhat do you do to worry about your career? My upside is that I can take (planned) days off when I want and start and end maternity when I want downside I can't just switch off for 3 6 or 9 months but work wise I wouldn't have it any other way

My hairdresser of 20 years said hair dye is fine ... Don't know about bleach as I don't have it sorry

ashboo76 · 19/08/2015 19:37

Wound bobbin so sorry about the 'incident' it'll be a funny story in 9 months time I hope Thanks

Forders · 19/08/2015 19:44

Bobbin, you poor thing, nobody tells you these things about pregnancy do they. It's all glowing and smiling beatifically in the films, not puking and other indignities (of which there are a lot!)

Congrats to mummy and trijo for excellent scan news; sorry if I've missed anyone out, am phone trying to remember the last few days' updates.

I'm still feeling rubbish and knackered and eating crap to compensate. I'm usually quite healthy with veg, salad etc - now the thought of that turns my stomach and I'm eating pizza, curry and sausage butties. I can see a diet thread coming on in May 2016...

Mummyofonesofar · 19/08/2015 19:48

woundbobbin you poor thing. At least it was when you got home and not at work this morning! You will look back and laugh.

Want2be we rent a smallish 3 bed. No room for a nanny. And on my £17.5k salary and do not on much more than £20k we really can't afford it either Sad

Definitelysometime · 19/08/2015 20:25

Twins?!! I missed twins?! Squeeee - congratulations mummy, that's so exciting! Are you going to find out the sex? Oh, I love twins!

Hope everyone is doing well. Im 6+1 today and feeling rough. Had a roast at lunchtime and just devoured and entire bag of kettle chips. I'm going to be enormous in no time.

I'm not sure I can afford to go back to work either this time. I took 10 months off with DD and was lucky enough to get 3 days a week when I went back. And I love it. But DD's nursery is £1000 a month for 3 days which is only just about affordable. Two would be ridiculous!

Definitelysometime · 19/08/2015 20:29

Sorry bobbin but that's just brilliant Grin. I've got a proper vivid pic of you there. You will definitely look back and laugh. And I'll probably be doing just the same before long (my pelvic floor is not what it once was!)

spottedquoll · 19/08/2015 20:42

Poor you, bobbin! It will make a good story some day.

Mummy that's amazing, and terrifying! Has it sunk in yet? Did they give you any reason for the spotting when you had the scan?

6+1 here, and scan in the morning because I keep getting spotting. :( I'm just enormously hungry and a bit tired, slightly sore boobs, and worried about the lack of other symptoms.

Mummyofonesofar · 19/08/2015 20:54

definately your user ms is the answer. I am definately finding out what they are! So excited I couldn't wait until they are here!

spotted nope, they said sometimes women spot a bit during pregnancy and everything looked perfect so not to worry Grin I am excited and terrified in equal measures. It hasn't really sunk in yet. I don't think it will until they are both laying in front of me!

ComeLuckyApril · 19/08/2015 21:01

Poor bobbin!

I got desperate with the sickness today it seemed worse than ever, but couldn't get a doctor's appointment. Researched it and apparently vitamin b6 is the thing to take, sent DH out for some and feeling better so far. I'd love to skip to 9 weeks!

ashboo76 · 19/08/2015 21:29

Hi Spotted

Good luck for tomo but I'm sure your totally fine. You still have symptoms however mild you think they are mine are exactly the same not feeling pregnant but not worrying as boobs hurt and tummy very bloated. Not tired (well no more than usual) I'm 2 days behind you ... Stress is bad try and sleep well Thanks

spottedquoll · 19/08/2015 22:12

Thanks ashboo! I was head down the toilet by this time with DD, but I guess they're all different. I'd be quite happy not to get sick this time... Just hope they can see enough tomorrow to give me reassurance! Head down now, and I have been sleeping like the dead the last few days so that's another symptom. Smile

ashboo76 · 19/08/2015 22:14

Is it oh good I'll add that to my list too yey! Sweet dreams let me know how you get on x
