Hi! Anyone else around yet who's expecting in April 2016? I've searched Mumsnet but can't find a thread- apologies if I've missed it. Just got my BFP today due date would be 2nd April (so the NHS website tells me). Would be great to have company on this journey!!

Same here waxweasel.

LaPampa · 14/08/2015 16:20

Thanks waxweasel and TriJo - I will have a look into it. Do you have other children? Not sure what I'll do with the 3yo as would want to take my husband. (Who incidentally thinks the tiredness, huge boobs and sickness plus 3 tests over 2 weeks are plenty indication and we should just wait for the NHS one - not on financial grounds).

TriJo · 14/08/2015 16:22

I don't have any other children.

Part of the reason we wanted an early one is because we're very unsure on dates - all we know is that I had a negative blood test on the 8th of July and a 3+ on a Clearblue on August 4th! My LMP was in mid-May.

LaPampa · 14/08/2015 16:29

TriJo I sympathise - that sounds like a troublesome time for you! (Incidentally, I am assuming your name comes from your hobbies and actual name, and therefore I picture you looking and sounding like my school friend of the same name and hobbies! I am sure you're not, not least because she doesn't live in Archway and already has a 1yo!)

Dellabob123 · 14/08/2015 17:39

Hi ladies, just checking in to see how everyone is. 6+1 and still no real symptoms-not that I'm wishing for then, just a bit weird! Although my appetite has increased and I had to have an enormous burger and fries at the pub today!!!

So impatient knowing I have to wait til 9-10 weeks for booking in.

Also, I planned on telling work next week but dh thinks it's too soon and can we wait. Not sure how much longer I can hold off as looking rather porky already! Hey ho, will try not to eat an entire pizza tonight with the girls.

Sophia1984 · 14/08/2015 17:54

Booking in appointment on 14th September when I'll be 10 weeks. It's at GPs though, so won't get an ultrasound - guessing they'll book me in then. Really want it confirmed ASAP so I can tell my mum as a birthday present!

MsGlitterJunkie · 14/08/2015 18:34

I've just arrived home to a big pack of info from the hospital and a date for my booking appointment, 1 Sept at 10:00 - they won't scan me then either sophia but then I'll be only 8 weeks by then. The letter says a scan will be arranged at a later date.

I've already told my two bosses della beacuse I can't keep my mouth shut and I would burst if I didn't tell someone and they are hugely supportive and happy for me especially as I've had 2 mcs within the last 9 months.

waxweasel · 14/08/2015 18:34

LaPampa, I have a 2yo. Children are welcome I think, but I didn't want to take her in case there's anything wrong. She's in nursery 3 days a week when I'm in work, so I've booked it in as a vague hospital appointment during working hours when she'll be at nursery.

Partners are now entitled to time off under the new shared parental leave legislation for two antenatal appointments, up to a max of 6 hrs each. So DH has booked it off as that - we'll figure something out for the other ones if we go over the 2 appointments quota, just say he has a dentist appointment or something!

Londonlady2015 · 14/08/2015 19:44

I'm getting really frustrated at the fact that I can't get a booking in date.

I have a 12 week scan in place which is obv the biggie, and my GP said I should call the hosp about the booking in but I have been calling all week and haven't got through! The main reason I'm bothered is I'm about to go on hols and will be 10.5 weeks by the time I'm back.

Just scared that something will be missed in the meantime

suffolkblonde29 · 14/08/2015 20:17

Hi all. I had my booking appointment today - all fine. There was a midwife and student midwife and they just asked lots of questions about family history/medical history, took blood and urine sample and gave me lots of things to read (including a 'Bounty Pack' with lots of leaflets, mags and vouchers in).

I asked about the private early scan option and they discouraged me saying it's not worth it and often isn't reassuring if it's too early to see anything - you might think there's something wrong when it's actually just that you're a bit less far along than you thought. So I think Im going to hold out for the 12 week scan (handy as my DH is pretty tight and not keen on spending the £100!). It feels like ages away though and would be awful to get there and find there's nothing there...

Thinking of telling my mum tomorrow too as I will see her for the first time in a couple of weeks. Feels weird at the moment with only me and DH knowing so will be glad to have a couple more people to share it with.

Hope you all have nice weekends planned.

Athousandtrees · 14/08/2015 20:29

Hi all, as predicted the symptoms have arrived back as dh is away! Thankful nausea seems to fade if I eat a load of shite. Currently scoffing a giant pack of walkers prawn cocktail.
Though the tiredness is ridiculous. Thank God for my mum who took ds1 for while this afternoon to let me sleep.

crumblybiscuits · 14/08/2015 20:41

Hello, just got my BFP today. Due 13th of April. I have one DD who is 2 and I had a tfmr in May at 16 weeks when baby had digeorge syndrome and HRHS so very, very nervous for this baby. No symptoms yet, BFP was completely out of the blue!

5madthings · 14/08/2015 23:11

Sneaking on board, I am almost 6 wks, got a bfp on day 26 of my cycle, due 11th April. This will be dc6!

Had an early miscarriage in Feb so very nervous esp as I had a tiny bit of brown discharge the other day, but it was only when I wiped and because I was checking that I saw it, it really was the tiniest amount. My boobs kill and I feel sick so fingers crossed. Have been away in France which is where I found out, goung to see gp on Monday and may push for an early scan.

CousinChloe · 15/08/2015 07:17

Wow, DC6! Amazing. Congratulations newbies.

I'm staying with my parents (just me
And Dd, DH will join us next week) and it's really hard not telling them! Luckily they're not drinkers at home really, and I've not had much sickness to try and hide.

We're going to MiL's after this and it'll be impossible to hide there, she serves wine every night and homemade ice cream with raw egg. Usually I enthusiastically partake of both, so I don't think it will go unnoticed!

CarrotVan · 15/08/2015 08:52

No wonder you're nervous crumbly fx this is all ok for you.

mascaraisamust · 15/08/2015 09:06

Hi all, playing catch up. Got my booking in appointment for the 30th Aug. I finally broke and booked in an 8 week reassurance scan on the 3rd Sept (fairly cheap too)!

No real symptoms here apart from I'm sore and hungry! Last night I didn't move from 7pm as I just felt off it. Keep waiting for sickness to kick in but no sign as of yet!

spottedquoll · 15/08/2015 09:12

Getting over my stomach bug but I think it has just evolved into morning sickness now so I still feel like chewed string. Confused 3 weeks til booking in, feels like forever!

Congrats to all the newbies.

mascaraisamust · 15/08/2015 09:48

spotted I'm feeling like I've got the dreaded stomach bug now Sad DH has just recovered from D&V. I'm hoping it will subside as I don't feel too bad in myself.

woundbobbin · 15/08/2015 09:57

Congrats to the newbies.

Is anyone else finding their symptoms different to previous pregnancies? At the beginning of the week I felt exactly like I did with dd (like death) then Wednesday I had a few hours when I felt fine it was like everything stopped since then I'm still and feeling and being sick, boobs sore, tired etc but it's about 80% of what it was like 1st time round is this a missed miscarriage or are pregnancies just different?

spottedquoll · 15/08/2015 10:51

Hope you avoid the worst of it mascara! I think the worst bit of being ill is not just being able to give in to it because you're worrying about the baby on board as well.

I think I feel different this time to last woundbobbin - not so tired, probably because I'm used to semi-permanent exhaustion Wink and boobs aren't so sore (they know what they're doing this time?). I guess it can be different every time, with the exception of the worry, which is always the same!

mascaraisamust · 15/08/2015 11:01

spotted I'm laid up on the sofa now hoping it will all just go away. I'm going to try a banana soon. Having small sips of water. I'm just concerned it's not just me I'm trying to make better!

Sorry I can't help wound as its #1 for me so I'm a nervous wreck! All sounds normal. I'm not sick at all, I'm sort of wishing I was so I can see an obvious symptoms. 5+6 today.

louwn · 15/08/2015 11:46

Welcome to all newbies! I'm finding bizarrely that apples are quite good for nausea, and crisps! Also drinking lots of water. Around 7 weeks at the moment, not relishing weeks more of feeling like this!

Sophia1984 · 15/08/2015 11:49

I'm finding cream crackers really helpful for 'morning' sickness (that I have all day). I've also been making fruit smoothies that really help when I don't feel like eating. Recipe is:

  • 2 handfuls of frozen berries
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tsp of cashew nut butter
  • dollop of greek yoghurt
  • bit of honey
  • some water (or you could use milk)

Really yummy and refreshing :-)

ashboo76 · 15/08/2015 11:50

Wound bobbin I'm sure it's not a mmc you wouldn't have anything symptoms at all and you seem to have plenty Smile saying that no symptoms doesn't mean mmc for those others reading this.
I've got terrifically sore boobs, back ache and bloating at 5 weeks but am having (and had for about 3 months ttc) after 11 months ttc) acupuncture and she tells me 90% of people having it don't get morning sickness so fx

watermaid · 15/08/2015 12:13

Hey all :) Congrats to glitter and your scan! Can't believe we are at early scan time already in this group - how far gone are you glitter if you don't mind me asking?

I am due my AF today and delighted so far that it hasn't appeared. Is such a milestone when you've found out early isn't it!

Now, you are all chatterboxes and I have only been able to pop in sporadically - my two boys keep me busy atm! I wish I had a job sometimes to escape! But in general, hello and welcome to the even newer newbies :)

And something that has really struck me because I had a mmc (followed by two cps and then, happily, my second baby boy), you can definitely have symptoms and not know you have miscarried because of this. Your placenta is what makes the hormones not the baby itself, so if the placenta hasn't twigged that the baby has stopped developing then you still get symptoms ;) is not something you would need to know unless it happened to you so I hope I don't offend anyone :)

And someone asked if pregnancy symptoms can be different between pregnancies - yes they can!

I look forward to sitting and having a proper read later and getting to know you all a bit more.

Have wonderful days all!
